I love Outback for the blooming onion...and everything else is do-able. Anytime my family comes to town...they want Outback. So this is where they wanted to go for their Mother's Day lunch. I arrived before them about 12pm, glad I did because there was a 30-45 minute wait and they were about 15-20 minutes away. Thank God it wasn't too hot outside while we waited on porch area. The wait time went by pretty quickly and we were seated right away. Once seated, our waitress came over and took our drink and appetizer order while we continued to browse the menu. My family ALWAYS wants the bone-in ribeye...smh!! I roll with the lobster tails and my little fella wants mac-n-cheese (after he eats about 2 loaves of the bread) LOL Considering this was a busy weekend, the staff was very attentive, the food was delicious as usual and served in a timely manner...piping hot. I made a take-away order for a steakhouse salad with ahi tuna instead of steak(yes I know there is an ahi tuna salad). Well when I got home they had given me the sesame tuna salad anyways. Went right back up there expecting to have to argue just to get the right salad. I was shocked. Manager not only got me the right salad, she gave me a full refund and gave me a free slice of cake. That's true service and great management willing to go above and beyond to keep someone as a customer and I will be back in the future. The salad itself was delicious. Staff was very sincere, but a little goofy. You know, reaching across you to get plates, hanging out for like two seconds too long, "What wine is that? A 'blanc'?" sort of stuff. Recently, went and had the worse reaction to the food. Father's Day, me and my hubby went and he and I literally were vomiting after eating. I'm not sure if it was the chicken because it was the only item I tasted off his plate but we both ugggh. Me and my family waited there for 15 minutes at our table and we were not acknowledged even with the waiter right at the next table! when you show up to a restaurant you expect to be at least asked what you want to drink but in this case that did not happen. In a business,it is important to ACKNOWLEDGE the customers and understand that the customer doesn't come for the prices they come for the food and the service so that is what you should give them! The wait time was outrageous. We waited nearly 2 hours just to get a booth. I got the lamb chop, wings,the Onion Blossom, and the milkshake. What a disappointing Mother's Day experience. We were a party of 5 and did a call ahead for 1:30PM. We arrived at 1:20PM and was quoted an estimated wait time of 20 minutes. 30 minutes later we asked the hostess how much longer and was told there were 2 parties of 5 ahead of us so it would be another 20 minutes. At 2:10PM we asked how much longer and was told "honestly, ma'am I don't know because we're so backed up." We sat back down and waited only because my friend's mom love Outback and it was her day. We were finally sat at 2:28PM. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. He encouraged us to order as soon as possible as the kitchen was moving slow. Our appetizer came of almost immediately which was good. Our food came out within 20 minutes, but literally every plate had either something missing or prepared wrong. My plate (pic) looked dirty. Our server was able to fix all of the kitchen's mistake and was completely apologetic. He said he was embarrassed by all of the mistakes. We took a break from outback for years... I'd say about 8 years roughly. We went to the Outback on George Bush in Garland for Mother's Day this past year because they were dead slow compared to surrounding restaurants. Our food was...Okay, and the service matched. The Outback in mesquite,on the other hand ,was frustrating as it gets. First, the restaurant stunk as soon as we walked in the door. The hostess was pompous and snotty with us then led us at a dirty and wet table. We ordered cheese fries (that our horrible waitress forgot to put in for 15-20 min) which didn't ruin anything really for me at that point, I thought she might be busy. But after the first drink we had, we had to flag our waitress down ,at least twice, each time we were needing a drink. We ordered an 8oz. Filet and shrimp combo meal and a Porterhouse. Both were really bad. Terrible. The porterhouse was the worst of the two, but neither one of them were acceptable. After our few drinks, cheese fries and steaks we spent 120 dollars (including tip) for the worst experience eating out, ever. I'm a server too, that's the only reason I left her 20%. I don't usually complain about service or food when I go out, I usually just trying to enjoy myself and be easy going. This was something else though. I will never give the Outback in Mesquite another dollar again SAVE YOUR MONEY and visit TEXAS ROADHOUSE right next door INSTEAD! Their food AND service is excellent, not to mention a little cheaper. Everything was either wrong or awful & the online ordering ASKS if you need utensils, which I did being in a hotel- they didn't come. Took my son here for lunch today. We ordered the new item on the appetizer menu, Chicken nuggets. They were very good but at $6.99, you would think you would get more than about 8. Asked the wait person where the rest were and she laughed and said she ate them on the way to our table. We ordered burgers after that and when they came, they were about the size of a quarter pounder at McDonalds. Also I think they gave us about 7 little fries to go with it. Seriously??? It was storming and everyone in Mesquite wanted steak, so of course we all end up at the Outback Steakhouse, and they could NOT handle the crowd's demand. Not only did it take forever to be seated, our server did not show up right away, and forgot our drink order several times, and when we did finally get our drinks and bread, he was off again handing silverware to another table or refreshing the drinks of other patrons. The manager had said desert was on the house for mine and the other 2 birthdays at the table. We all ate, and ordered desert, but all were too tired to eat it after spending over 45 minutes waiting for food and another 20 or so waiting on desert. I used a gift card and a credit card to pay with, and when I got home I realized I had been over-charged on my credit card, but I didn't have proof because the receipt that would have proven it was kept by the restaurant because the deserts were comped, and my husband refused to go back in the storm to straighten it out, so we really paid for desert that we didn't enjoy, and probably/most likely would not have ordered if they weren't offered to us as a "gift" by the manager. We were all tired of being there. It was loud, the food was not up to par, and the weather had me feeling sick. Haven't eaten here years and couldn't remember why we had stopped so we decided to go yesterday for lunch. Well we quickly remembered why we stopped. They have no variety in steaks even though they are a steakhouse. We ordered the blooming onion which we couldn't even eat sent it back it apparently was cooked in old grease and was horrible. My husband ordered the lobster which was slathered in some type of cinnamon sweet butter it was horrible. My steak was so so. I'll sum it up in a few words. I was happy with Outback visit until I got the bill. Nobody likes being taken advantage off and that's how I felt. We all know restaurants charge way too much for sodas and tea but we understand this is where some of their profit comes from and they all charge crazy prices. What got my goat at outback was my wife was asked if she wanted a refill on her tea when it was about half full and of course she said "Yes". When the bill came we were charged a total of $5.98 for her tea and a half. We have been regular customers on and off at their High Point NC location and their food has always been okay but any restaurant that does this is certainly taking advantage of the customer and the fact that they don't tell you makes it even worse. This place is consistently terrible. I swore off this place years ago, but thought id give it another try; I should have stayed home. The service is terrible, the food is terrible, the entire dining experience was horrible. Our waiter took my drink to get a refill and never brought it back, my girlfriends drink was never refilled period. The waiter asked after he brought us the check if she wanted the refill. Steak was fatty and tough. We took our family to this location for a post-graduation dinner. We used the call ahead seating and we were pleased when they could seat our party of 14 immediately. Now we know why they could seat us so quickly. The restaurant was filthy. There was a VERY large roach crawling on a ledge right above our heads and when we couldn't find a restaurant worker we had to kill it ourselves. The women's bathroom (and the men's, from what I understand from my husband) was trashed - toilet paper on the floor, one inoperable toilet and another toilet that barely flushed and an overflowing trash can. Our waitress was very nice and did the best job she could given the circumstances. For what we paid, the food was sub par and very tiny portions. They even charged us for each refill of iced tea.
