Caesar salad and pumpernickel
Nick S.

I don't frequent Outback, but while on a work trip, it was convenient, so, I decided to give it a try It was a Thursday night, and the restaurant was almost completely empty. I thought the ambiance was nice. The decor and lighting was inviting. The establishment seemed clean The food was pretty good. It came out in a timely manner, and everything was relatively tasty The staff was friendly, but the atmosphere was a little unprofessional. I sat at the bar and several employees just hovered near the bar. They were there the entire time. Management did the same. I think they were doing bar inventory, but I could overhear just about all the conversations and it felt somewhat uncomfortable Also, there were times where I would just sit there waiting for the ticket or water or something for a long time before anyone would notice. Again, everyone was just standing around, so, it felt like I was being ignored. I also didn't like everyone just standing around. I'm not exaggerating when I say at one point there were at least 10 employees just standing around the bar Now, my server was very nice and helpful. And even management turned to ask how I was doing at some point. Even the hostess wished me a good night which was nice Some tips: Sign up for their rewards and get a free Bloomin' Onion. Also, if you get a to go box, ask for some pumpernickel bread and butter to go Cheers!!

So I had the pleasure of trying Outback Steakhouse on a Monday night near closing and actually really enjoyed it! I was surprised to see the restaurant not having that many people but was more than grateful than anything not having to wait a long time. The timing of the food being ready and efficient movement from our waiter was really quick and on it. For example, Charles was attentive on the refills and anything we needed was done in a flash! The server was also very on point and kind. Customer service there is definitely up to par. The food was very tasty, I enjoyed the Lobster Macaroni and my Toowoomba Salmon was delicious as well. The appetizers Coconut Shrimp and Blooming Onion were so addictive, we had to get another of them! Overall, I would recommend trying this chill & relaxing atmosphere. I had no issues whatsoever and enjoyed my time at Outback Steakhouse!

Came around 2pm and it was pretty slow/quiet. Clean space everywhere I looked (even the restrooms lol) I truly enjoy visiting places where we could see that the employees are also happy. You could see the teamwork, hear the laughs, but also know we are getting taken care of. We were immediately greeted with open doors and smiles . We were sat and then greeted by Rose. She was Amazing!!! She asked the perfect questions leaving no room for error. She followed up after being served, making sure we were set, always popping by in a timely fashion, oooh and she had our drinks filled. Big Kudos Food was yummy. Juicy chicken and burger. Shrimp was good. (Flavors of the blooming onion... but with shrimp!) Thank you for allowing the hubby and I to enjoy this lovely meal. Nurture your employees and great results will be evident

Steak and lobster $19.99 can't beat it.

Tried to get dinner here on monday night. Doors were open, but the hostess told me they closed early due to slow business: it was minutes before 10 pm. Okay, we left and went elsewhere. I really wanted to try that lobster deal, though. So, we stopped in yesterday for lunch, so we wouldn't risk another early closing. Food was satisfying. The lobster was delicious, but steak a little flavorless and tough, veggies also hard and bland: needs a little work: hey, can't beat it for $19.99, though. The atmosphere was nice and clean, and our young server, I'm hardly good at remembering names, was very kind and attentive. We'll definitely go back to take advantage of the low-priced lobster and steak deal. Mostly for the lobster, or maybe we should try another type of steak meat?

C'mon guys! I ordered a well-done, no-pink steak. The amount of pink and fat on the steak was insane (see the attached photos). I paid a lot for this order and my order was in writing. How do you screw this up? It's not like I can send the steak back if I am using Doordash. Doordash offered to refund $5.00. That doesn't even cover the tip I paid.

Everyone was kind and friendly (except for the hostess downstairs who was rather dismissive). Sat upstairs for dinner on a Sunday in the beautiful front sunroom. The entire second floor is gorgeous and feels elevated compared to the first floor. To start off they serve you bread with a pickled jalapeno cream cheese dip which was the chef (owner?) mother's recipe. So good. I had the lamb chops which were devine. The scalloped potatoes, mashed potatoes, macaroni & cheese, and creamed spinach are all musts. Cocktails and wine all top notch! GO!

All in all an okay meal, I would put it next to a family affordable steakhouse, not an upscale.

The ambiance is absolutely perfect for anyone to eat there solo, or with friends and family :) ! There is seating both outside and inside. For my first time there, we sat outside on the second level. If it wasn't so hot and humid, it would have been nice sitting outside. I would have preferred to sit inside during the summer. Except when we went, it was already early Friday evening, and most of the indoor seating at the bars and tables were taken. I would highly recommend this Mediterranean restaurant to anyone :D ! Earlier in the day I took a walk through the King William neighborhood and stumbled on this beautiful old house with an inviting vibe. We were so glad we came back for dinner. We were a group of five with a reservation and from start to finish the experience was excellent. Our server, Raymond, was personable, friendly, and genuinely great at his job. He gave thoughtful recommendations and made the evening feel relaxed and welcoming. We started by sharing several dishes, all of which were spot on: Pears and Greens salad with lardons, frisée, arugula, radicchio, endive, Danish blue, and bacon vin - $16. Fresh, balanced, and perfect for sharing. Crispy Brussels Sprouts with maple, herbs, pecans, and cotija - $10. Crispy, flavorful, and addictive. Mac and Cheese - $12. Rich, comforting, and well executed. For mains, Raymond steered us in all the right directions: Mustard Glazed Faroe Island Salmon with warm fingerling potatoes, parsnips, mushrooms, frisée, and herb oil - $30. Beautifully cooked and flavorful. Tomatillo Shrimp with grilled Gulf shrimp, white cheddar grit cake, and tomatillo butter - $28. Bold and delicious. Loretta Burger with crispy prosciutto, manchego, arugula, tomato, grilled red onion, and smash sauce on a brioche bun. Choice of fries or tots - $18 (some had tots, and one had fries - tasty). Absolutely nailed it. Queso Fundido Burger with fried chorizo-queso blanco, charred poblano, and cactus salsa verde. Choice of fries or tots - $20. Indulgent in the best way. My dining companions enjoyed a variety of wonderfully prepared cocktails while I stuck with a Topo Chico. I still felt right at home. Overall, Bar Loretta felt like a world away from the tourist-heavy spots along the River Walk. Dining out has gotten so expensive lately and too often the food or service does not justify the price. Bar Loretta delivered on both. Great food, great service, great value. Highly recommend. We would absolutely come back. 5 stars

But at my age anytime you are over ground is the best occasion. I have heard it is real fancy. And it is. Do not come in Crocs and sweatpants. This is not that restaurant. It is that restaurant where you should make reservations. It is also a place that emphasizes presentation and service. We came right when it opened and we informed the hostess of our reservations. We were seated in the bar area. Once inside I was struck by its ambience. It is sleek, dark and dare say "sexy." Our server, who was extremely attentive came to our table and took our drink orders. My partner ordered an Old Fashioned and me, a Lagunitas IPA. Whilst waiting for our drinks I looked over the room. One thing I noticed was a barrier that separated the bar area and the dining room. The Social Hour is meant, to socialize. I saw couples leaning into each other. Another group were drinking martinis with a seafood tower, almost touching the ceiling. Conversations were had. Romantic glances were exchanged. It isn't a casual place like Bubba's 33 nor Texas Roadhouse. It feels like a place best suited for a date night or an anniversary. I'm wondering how the dining room area is? The Social Hour does offer some drink and small bites specials. We ordered the kabob with pineapple, brussel sprouts, and sliders. They were all pretty great. It reminded me of the same experience as in partaking in tapas. I would remiss if I didn't relay our service here, it was excellent. Our server, Holiday(I hope I spelled it right.) treated us like we were the only patrons there. I've gone to upscale restaurants where staff looks at you up and down. Or they try to size you up. This is not that place. Which was so refreshing. If this place went above and beyond my expectations why didn't I give it four stars? In my opinion I think that a place that creates an upscale experience needs to have a few beers on tap. Even places like Wing Daddy's or Chili's offers a few beers on tap. Secondly, the bar area seating feels a bit tight. I wonder when the dinner crowd arrives would you be in the lap, of someone else's conversation? I still highly recommend this place. The Social Hour area is perfect for a date or an anniversary. The service and food were both excellent. And I've never been to a place where you are given warm hand towels. It reminded me of that scene with Adam Sandler in "The Wedding Singer" minus Billy Idol.

For 73 years, The Barn Door has been more than a great restaurant; it has been an inexorable piece of San Antonio history. Last week, The Barn Door announced on Facebook that its final day of service will be Sunday, May 11th (Mother's Day). The Barn Door has been an outstanding steakhouse in the truest sense. They've never relied on gimmicks or culinary trends--they've relied on the tried-and-true flavors that have maintained a loyal clientele for decades. I'm taking about hand-cut, primal cuts of beef grilled over real mesquite, delivering that unmistakable South Texas char. I'm referring to plump, wild-caught shrimp from the Gulf Coast, the famous yeast rolls, and tubs of homemade salad dressings. If you've been there, you know how special the overall experience has been. I've read many heartfelt comments on social media asking why such a successful institution would cease operations. Well, dear reader, I have a unique insight into why. Randy Stokes has poured his heart into the restaurant, but he merely leases the building--not the land--from the Straus family. Approximately seven months ago, Mr. Straus decided to sell the dirt beneath the "Barn" to a real estate developer. The plan? To raze this historic site and erect modern condos. It's a familiar story of urban expansion, but it doesn't make the loss any easier to swallow. But before we close the door on "The Barn" forever, a glimmer of hope looms on the horizon. Randy Stokes and his team aren't necessarily hanging up their aprons for good. According to a reliable anonymous source, the team has expressed a desire to reopen The Barn Door at a new location, with eyes set currently on the city's North Side. I hope the promise of a new location comes to fruition, but even if The Barn Door closes forever, I will cherish all the wonderful memories of dining there with my parents and grandparents over the years. I will remember the ingratiating staff, the unique ambience, and the hundreds of delicious meals I've crammed down my gullet.

Iceberg, shredded carrots and cabbage with 5 bagged croutons. What happened? It wasn't like that before. My cream spinach came out late, and we weren't charged for it, which was nice. My brother in laws filet was too done. He asked for medium, and it was medium well. He ate it anyway. They used to have a 6oz ladies filet, but they don't. The server wasn't perfect, but we lived.
