They did our outdoor lighting and kitchen and we love it all. They did other work inside also and all is fantastic. Highly recommend!

I have a trusted knife sharpener, but wanted to give Chef's Toys Knife Sharpening services a try…read morebecause it's close to my work. Bad decision on my part. When I got back my "sharpened" knives, one of them had nicks and burrs. I don't know if you can see in the photos. The bottom part of the blade feels chewed up and rough. I had two other knives sharpened and they're not as sharp as when I've had them done with people who know what they're doing. I will only go back to see ask if they can fix the one with the nicks. After that, never again. I'm actually scared to have them touch my knife again, but it's want them to be aware of the lack of quality. If you care about your knives, call ALL SHARPENED UP (Orange County) or GARY'S KNIVES (South Bay and West Side) instead.

Working with Doug Schonfeld at Chef Toys has been an exceptional experience from start to finish…read more Doug is a wealth of information when it comes to EVERYTHING that belongs in a kitchen. He has a way of explaining things that makes even complex decisions feel straightforward and manageable. What I appreciate most about Doug is how genuinely helpful he is. No matter the question or challenge, he takes the time to understand what's needed and always comes back with thoughtful, practical solutions. He's a natural problem solver who anticipates issues before they arise, which makes a huge difference. Doug is also incredibly responsive. Whether it's a quick question or a more detailed request, he consistently replies promptly and thoroughly, keeping everything moving smoothly. Above all, Doug is honest and trustworthy. His recommendations are always grounded in what's best for the situation, not just making a sale. That level of integrity is rare and makes him someone you can confidently rely on. Doug is the reason we love Chef Toys and continue to choose them every time here at Orange Coast College. His professionalism, knowledge, and dedication make all the difference. I highly recommend Doug at Chef Toys to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, dependable, and genuinely supportive partner in kitchen equipment.

We're new home owners and we got our house only to find out our fireplace wasn't working. Luke came out and removed the difficult to use "electronic ignition pilot system" so we can just use the natural gas line. Later that day, we started smelling gas throughout the second floor. He offered to come out again free of charge to check on it for us. Turns out the valve for the fireplace is faulty and we have to get it replaced and the seller must have just put the electronic ignition pilot system on as a "bandaid" fix to stop the leaking (sketch). Luke helped us identify the leak and really went above and beyond to help us out as new home owners (steps to take, referral to a plumber, etc). We'll definitely be back if we need any fireplace help in the future and would refer him out to anyone that needs him!

This business used to be called Cool Hand Luke's (previously owned by Robert Soja's father)…read more Robert's father was actually honest and did quality work. The black sheep of the family "crooked" Robert took over the business a few years ago and very recently changed the name of the company to Exceptional Fire. Robert is a total con artist and a liar! He took my deposit of $3K promised to complete work or replacing 3 fireplace doors with 3 new ones in 2-3 weeks time. Instead of ordering the doors, he stole my deposit and went on a two week jaunt to Japan with his friends and with my money! He never returned calls and/or texts when I needed updates on where my job stood. Instead, it was complete silence. I am still waiting for this thief to return the remainder of my deposit 5 months later. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS CROOKED CON MAN!!!!!!!!!!

2/27/26 Hubby was looking for a knife sheath to protect his new chef knife.... And me lol. It is…read moresharp AF I looked through the rolling pins, needed one for making dumplings but all they had was a plastic-like roller. I'd much prefer a wooden one. Additionally, I wanted to also look into getting a better whisk, but I think I will make the wood what I have. And I knew I was gonna need a digital scale to help me through my sourdough journey now that I was gifted two sourdough starters--one from Italy and one from France (one of my clients was very giving & thoughtful). The price is range from $40-$85., whoa! Amazon has them for about $30. I will have to think about this.. Met Gonzo, yes, that's how he spelled it, a delightful & enlightened staff member who was very helpful with recommending which would be best. We could've had a whole conversation for a half a day! LoL. In the end, I decided to think about it before purchasing one (turns out later, best decision I made all day) My glass measuring cup is in storage & I find it cumbersome so I bought a lighter version (2 cup). Happy with my purchase. Hubby bought his item separately & let me roam the aisles. Highly recommend this store. Gonzo was instrumental in making me feel welcomed & appreciated to be shopping here, hence the 5 star. As I mentioned many times in the past, I greatly value customer service. It's what keeps me as a return customer

Listen to this…read more.. Chef Toys wants to charge a 30% restocking fee if a product has to be opened and taken out of the box. But if they sell you an item that THEY took out of the box and have had on display, they want you to pay full price while claiming the item is still "new." We placed an order over the weekend for about $4,000 and were told it would be ready to pick up by Monday. I got there around 12, and the order wasn't ready. Not a big deal--we waited. Then we found out that one of the items included in our order was the display fridge. We told them we wanted a brand-new fridge in a box. The employee kept stating that they "just took it out of the box," but in reality, that fridge has been sitting there on display for a long time. We asked for either a boxed fridge or a refund. The employee did not hesitate to state, "I will meet you at the front and give you your refund," without even trying to offer another alternative or find a solution. There were no customer service skills from the employees or Buster, the manager. The situation escalated pretty quickly, and Buster very rudely kept telling me to stop talking instead of trying to handle the situation professionally and understand why we were upset. We have been doing business with Chef Toys for a very long time, but today they lost a customer because of Buster and the way this situation was handled. I do want to acknowledge and thank the Director of Sales. He understood the situation and very calmly tried to find a solution. Unfortunately, by that point, it was already too late. He showed the professionalism and customer service that we should have received from the beginning. He should be hired as the manager instead.
