Don't get me wrong--the seafood was fresh, tasty, and the seasoning was spot on. The problem isn't the food. The problem is the sticker shock when you realize you just paid $115 for what amounts to about 2 clusters of crab legs, roughly 1.5 pounds of shrimp, a few ears of corn, some red potatoes, onion slices, butter, and Old Bay. For that price, I was expecting a feast worthy of a pirate king. Instead, it felt more like a very expensive scavenger hunt where I still had to go home and cook everything myself. The biggest surprise? The tip prompt when you pick it up. So let me get this straight: I place the order, drive to get it, carry it home, boil it myself, clean up the kitchen afterward, and I'm still being asked to tip on top of premium pricing? That's a bold business model. The included boil bucket is nice, but unless that bucket is secretly paying my electric bill and washing the dishes afterward, it's hard to justify the cost. Bottom line: The food is good. Really good. But for $115, I couldn't help thinking I could have made the same meal from the grocery store for around $45 and had enough left over for dessert and a six-pack. If convenience is your thing, go for it. If value is your thing, bring your own bucket. read more

Picked up our bucket for 2 today. Evan has the best customer service! The package is clever! The pot we got served 2 - 1 lb each of shrimp, plus corn, andouille sausage and red potatoes. With seasoning, lemon and cocktail sauce. For $26 a serving. They have different pots - ones with crab clusters , mussels or clams. So it depends on what you like. Evan gave us a set of directions and also explained it for us. Very easy- add a bottle of wine or beer or just water, cover and boil. Just so clever!!! The store front is deep in Virginia Beach- I feel like they would do much better at another location but they do offer delivery also. This is perfect for a large group special occasion. We called a week in advance, and the staff that took our order over the phone was very friendly and thorough. And, the follow-up email communication was awesome. We did take out. Evan was very responsive to my emails and phone calls when I had to figure a few things out on the fly. I'm not the main 'chef' in my family, but I was able to handle the prep for 8 people pretty much by myself. The food was great. We went with The Crab Pot (shrimp and king crab), but frankly, the shrimp would have probably been enough in terms of volume. You can trust their portions. We had 5 adult men and 3 ladies, and there were plenty of leftovers. There was more than enough 'spices' (tasted like Old Bay) and cocktail sauce, so unless you plan on bathing in either of those, you won't need extra. Other nuggets: I hadn't done this for a few years, so I found it helpful to note the times in a notebook as I went thru the process. Definitely get the table cloths that they offer. Not on the menu but definitely needed: a couple of rolls of paper towels. Getting a 'pot' is a family favorite when we vacation as a group. It's not something you get to do very frequently. Clean up is a snap if you just leave all the debris on the table and just wrap it up in the table cloth. Done. read more
