I hadn't been here in years but read somewhere that this place had really good chicken wings which surprised me to hear given it's primarily a Mexican cuisine establishment. Well - to say I was underwhelmed is an understatement and at $1.65 a wing that might be slightly bigger than BWW and a very bland and boring Red Hot style buffalo sauce, I would not ever get these again here. If and when I go back, I'll try something more in line with the rest of the menu but I would not get chicken wings here under any circumstances especially at this inflated price. read more

Great breakfast sandwiches, burgers, and tacos. The sopa de pollo was flavorful and had big chunks of chicken, a lot of vegetables and alphabet noodles-delicious! I'm not usually a burger person, but they've got great ones! Love the garlic aioli and pickles on the burger. Also love the white Queso used in the chili cheese fries. Just moved here from AZ. This is the BEST authentic Mexican food I have had in Michigan! YUM

A semi- regular since they opened, mostly for the cilantro potatoes. Sadly, the last few times I had them they have not been up to par. They are barely cooked these days - they used to have nice crispy edges. Sigh. read more

Owl is one of my favorite late night/early morning spots. The chili chilaquiles and habanero bacon egg sandwich are my go-tos and they don't disappoint! This place is a staple, truly. Reliably great tasting and always quick. Breakfast is exceptionally stellar. The menu is small and they do everything on it well. We only ever get takeout but I have nothing but praises for the place. If you decide to check it out, you won't be disappointed! read more

I've driven past a million times and finally took the plunge to stop in and try it. The restaurant is tiny but we were lucky enough to grab a spot right away - I imagine this could be tricky during other times of day, but they luckily have carry out options as well. I tried the chorizo egg sandwich and added onions and jalapeños. This sandwich was so tasty and definitely an elevated version of a breakfast sandwich. My only qualm with the sandwich is the chorizo patty is only about half the size of everything else so there several bites missing it. Other than that it was absolutely delish! I also tried the horchata which was cinnamony and cooling with my spicy sandwich. Overall this was a great spot to visit and I'll be back to try some other menu items soon. read more

We went here for breakfast early on a weekend. They are open earlier than many. The dining room isn't large- consists of a counter and a few tables. You order at the Counter and they bring your order. We went for the hash with habenero and chorizo AND the chicken fried chicken. Delicious!! More than enough to eat! read more

Good food, reasonable prices in a diner setting. As first timers we didn't know what to get, I opted for the chili, my bf got the chicken fried chicken sandwich w/added grilled onions. He was nice enough to share with me - it was definitely delicious. We split an order of fries. My chili was also really good, but nothing spectacular - not anything different then I would make at home, but it hit the spot. Small glitches - we sat at the bar and after ordering and paying, my chili was handed to me by a young man pretty quickly. After taking 2 bites I flagged him down and told him it needed to be warmed up. He literally rolled his eyes at me, why the attitude? It was lukewarm at best!! Anyways - he takes it away - I expect he'll microwave it but apparently not because it doesn't come back. Then my bf's chicken comes out, then the fries and now I'm still waiting for my chili. I think they must have started a new batch because I saw him finally scoop some out. It was overly hot this time - so I had to wait to eat it. Not sure if that was intentional or not. Didn't love the setup, 2 tables or you're sitting at the counter of a counter bar looking out onto the road. Came in on a chilly day and it was pretty cold inside, never took off my coat or hat, even ate with my gloves on for a while. Despite the minor annoyances - we'll be back to try a few more things. Lot's of people were ordering the wings so I definitely want to try those and we'll keep our fingers crossed the service and attitude is better. read more

This place is perfect for a cheat meal or when you have that oddly specific craving. With their late hours and great service, you will leave satisfied. They also offer a different daily taco that is perfect for a snack or a whole meal ( ask for the verde salsa for that spicy kick). The cooks are very friendly and have a cool vibe, as for the cashier- it's a hit or miss. The order: avocado toast with the ahi tuna (it honestly has that California twist that makes it so good), nachos (MUST BUY), matcha wings (they were decent but not the best I've ever had). Lastly, three of the daily tacos (They delivered on taste and I will always continuously try what they offer that day). I can conclusively say that this is one of my top late night places to eat out at and you will continue to see me eat here!! read more

Most places in the Woodward corridor area close extremely early, even on weekends, so several times in the past couple months I have been left with no choice but to stop by Owl for my evening tea. From my several visits there, what I can say is that the nachos are pretty good. I do like the cheese they use, but I'm not a fan of beans on nachos. I think for 10 bucks or so that they cost, they are definitely fulfilling and come with a fair portion size. The wings on the other hand are mediocre at best and for the cost, I'd pass. I definitely don't think the place is good enough to wait around the corner for like some people do on Friday and Saturday nights, but they kind of have a monopoly on late night eats in the area since even McDonalds, Arby's etc close extremely early around here for some reason. read more

Haven't been here in years, primarily due to off-standish service. Well nothing has changed. Came here for breakfast 2 mornings back to back. The guy taking your order treats you like a nuisance, especially if you ask a question. There's a small army of people doing prep in the kitchen, but not a single one will either smile, talk or be even remotely friendly. Try to get a coffee refill! The first time I ordered the chorizo bfast sandwich. It was perfect and delicious. The soft egg and runny yolk was perfectly cooked. So despite the terrible service, I craved another sandwich the next morning. So I subjected myself to the rude servers, and the overall lack of customer respect for another sandwich. This time the sandwich was terrible. The egg was way overcooked. So with my craving extinguished, I won't be back here for at least another 4-5 years again. read more

'Tis the C-son! Finally made it to Owl, which I somehow didn't know was a diner. We ordered multiple C foods: chilaquiles, cheeseburger, and chicken friend chicken. I loved the mix of Mexican and typical American diner food. The cheeseburger was fantastic! Great sauce, delicious cheese, and and a nice pickle to patty ratio. The brioche bun - aka the King of the buns - rounded out the perfect diner entree. Our chilaquiles were less impressive. The tomatillo sauce was good, but I wish there were more. Too many dry chips. On the other hand, the chicken fried chicken was also great! Very filling and the nice addition of peas made me feel like I was being healthy. We were able to beat the rush on a Friday night, but this place is usually packed. I can't wait to come back to try more. read more

Assuming it was from the lettuce on the sandwich (which happens when you don't wash it )-- extra protein Also ate curly fries which were surprisingly sweet ngl. The counters and seats are always super clean! Staff are really nice. Only issue was the bug and the parking on a busy day.
