I wanted it to be what Taurus Ox is but in a burger joint. The burger, which is the same that is at the main restaurant, is really good. But the rest was less impressive. We had the jalapeño poppers... not good. The sauce for them was a mango sauce. It was ok but a house made hot sauce made them a touch better. We also shared an order of the cheese fries. Again I was not a fan. I think I wanted more of what makes Taurus Ox so great. If the fríes had been covered in a curry instead of something resembling pimento cheese I would be all in. Also this place does not have the famous chili oil that Taurus Ox has. This is a travesty. The burger is so good that I might go back just for that and to try one of the other sandwiches. But most likely I would head to the main restaurant first. read more

Listen foodies and alike! The Lao burger lives up to the hype! You have the classic American smashed Pattie's with a surprisingly oriental flavor.... It was absolutely delicious. No this is not your teriyaki burger! You even had unique ingredients like elephant ear stem that you find in canh chua, a Vietnamese soup fish! Very interesting and delightfully delicious! The French fries were great as well, crispy chunky and delicious! A little bit salty so you may ask them to ease off on that, but at the core perfectly fried! Chicken sandwich was also delicious! I do feel it was basic, but in a very good way! Moist and crispy but nothing to take it over the top... just a solid high quality fresh chicken fried sandwich, truthfully you won't regret! Unassuming corner restaurant which creates a burger and a fish sandwich dreams are made of! I grew up with the Filet o Fish from the yellow arches. When it declined I stopped ordering. When the fish sandwich arrived it was a sight for sore eyes! The first bite...delicious beyond delicious. How was this possible?! Replica but way better! Now let's about the Lao burger. What is this delectable, flavor filled, multi textured, umami dream? First bite and it was "What?!" I had to check that there wasn't bleu cheese since I'm allergic, but the flavor profile of this burger is off the charts. Off the charts impressive and delectably craveable. We came back again for our last meal in Seattle to repeat the above choices. It was that good. We added the hand cut fries and those were wonderful as well. With the Lao burger however, its greatness lies not its in its patty but its balance of flavors. The blend of beef, pork, and tomatoes provides an incredibly meaty flavor while the pickled onions and cilantro cut through the richness of the mayonnaise and cheese. To top everything off, the taro stem brings a uniquely satisfying crunch different from the typical burger lettuce. Easy to grab a counter seat at the 4 seat bar (there's a few two tops and if you're lucky, a four top in this relatively small space). Burger had a lot of great, unique flavors, definitely a hefty greasy burger. I enjoyed it! Saw this place on TikTok and thought to try it. My girlfriend and I split the Deluxe Ox + Seasoned fries. Total was just over $19. It was enough for us to split but if you were really hungry you could've probably finished it on your own. (We're also 5'4/~130lbs). Your dad, brother, or hungry friend would probably be okay having this meal to themselves which makes it pretty expensive. I love Taurus Ox, so I was really excited to try this spot! The restaurant itself is pretty small but there are a few indoor and outdoor tables. Two stars are for the absolutely stellar fries. Crispy, well seasoned little nuggets of potato goodness. One star because my fiancé loved his burger. Not a fan of the burgers. Fiancé had the Lao burger (which I tried) and I had the deluxe burger. The deluxe burger was nothing to write home about - it was fine, but nothing special or unique. Their burger sauce is just mayo/mustard/ketchup - it needed a relish or something to bring it together. The Lao burger was an absolute no from me. It just tasted of lime leaves and nothing else, and the lime flavor completely overpowered everything on the burger. It was so out of balance that I struggled to finish my portion. The condiments are likewise so heavy handed on the lime that I didn't taste anything else. The garlic aioli should be renamed as lime aioli with garlic. Their signature sauce, the jaew bong mayo, tastes about the same, with the addition of a fishy note from their fish sauce. I ordered a side of regular mayo that they forgot (they also did not give us utensils even though I asked). I'm usually a big fan of fusion food but this felt incredibly forced and so heavy handed on the lime. Sad because I was very excited to try this place. read more

Got the Lao burger and the deluxe, both very juicy and flavorful burgers. Honestly have nothing bad to say about them. The fries were still so crispy even when kept in a to-go box and eaten a couple hours later. Staff were helpful and polite. Gets busy on the weekends though so did have to wait a bit. read more

I'm not the biggest burger fan around, but when I saw a Laotian burger spot opened up in Cap Hill, I had to give it a shot, so my girlfriend and I gave these guys a visit towards the end of their afternoon happy hour on a Friday. We placed our order before taking a seat at one of the few tables outside. We ordered the Ox Burger with fries and a Lao Burger. We also got a side of their sambal agave mustard sauce. Within 10 minutes of ordering, one of the staff delivered our food right to our outside table. We both eagerly took our first bites of each of the burgers, and our eyes immediately widened. Upon my first bite of that Lao Burger, I knew it was one of the best burgers I've ever had in my life. The double smash patties that use a beef and pork combination provided an umani unlike any I've had in a burger before, then you get acidity from the provolone jaew tomato and pickled red onion. And instead of your traditional greens that you'd see on burgers, you get a bunch of cilantro to give you the needed freshness and slight crunch. The Ox Burger was also very impressive - it seemed like an upgraded version of your traditional fast food cheeseburgers. They use the same patty as in the Lao Burger, but only one instead of two. Then the slight smokiness from the grilled onions, acidity from the ketchup, and the melty umaniness from the American cheese brings the whole burger together to create this unique Laotian rendition of the American cheeseburger. The fries that came with the Ox Burger were extremely crispy, and it really felt like a complete meal with them. They were just a touch overseasoned, but I didn't mind. Their sambal agave mustard (their take on honey mustard) gave us an option if we wanted to add a slight heat to our burgers. Pricing-wise, because we went during happy hour, we paid ~$25 for our meal, which I feel is reasonable given the quality. If you go during normal hours, it may feel a slight bit pricey compared to other burger spots around. But how often are you going to see a Laotian burger anywhere, let alone a well-executed one? The atmosphere is very casual. You order at the register then choose where you want to sit. There's some small tables inside and what looked like bar seating, and there are also some outdoor tables. None of the tables were massive so I wouldn't recommend coming here in group larger than 4. This place is on the edge of Cap Hill as it turns into Central District. There's tons of street parking around, and it honestly isn't too far of a walk from the central part of Cap Hill. I'm torn because I want them to grow and expand, but don't want the news getting out about this place so it gets crowded. I guess be sure to try them before that time comes, because news will get out eventually. read more

These burgers are absolutely bomb. I've tried both the Lao Burger and the Ox deluxe. Both have a thick well cooked patty and high quality ingredients. If you're in the mood for a classic burger the Ox definitely checks that box, but the Laos burger is super unique. The sauce, fried pork, and pickled veggies all work fantastically with each other to create a really unique meal. Service has been great every time I've been there, though it's just counter service where they bring the meal out. Ambience is a hit for me, the outdoor patio is beautiful and comfortable. If you make it here when it's drizzling the sound of rain on the roof feels like quintessential Seattle. About 1/3 of the time though, the local homeless population will approach me while eating outside here. All my interactions have been positive, but worth noting regardless. APIHM #7: I have never been to Taurus Ox nor have I been to Ox burger so I cannot speak on the service or ambiance (yet) but earlier this week, my boyfriends mom picked up dinner for us from here. I got the Lao Burger and by the time it got to us it was slightly cold but it was still SO good! I'm not sure if I was super hungry or if it was just super good (Both answers are correct haha!), but i devoured it in minutes! I have never had a burger with these kinds of flavors and I think that is why it stands out to me-- cured pork belly, taro stem, pickled red onion, cilantro and more. I cant wait to go back, for myself, and try more things of their menu.. or maybe the same burger because it was just so good!! read more

Garlic aioli & burger sauce for dipping preferred the garlic aioli & hot sauce for dipping but burger does goes great with the burger itself. Not gonna lie, it's pretty expensive for a burger and fries to be about 20 dollars but I guess that's not too crazy for Seattle. The Lao burger surprised me since it's not the typical flavors of an American burger establishment. It's got cilantro, pickled onions, mushrooms...?(texture was like mushroom but I'm not 100%), two beef/pork patties, and a mayo-based sauce. Definitely one of the best burgers I've ever had though! I'd say it's almost worth the money which I can't say for a lot of other restaurants. The fries were also pretty good but, again, not worth the 4 dollars. The cheese fries sounded interesting. The two guys working there at the time both seemed really nice and friendly too! My cashier at Trader Joe's ended up recommending this spot to me since I told him about a bad burger I had recently. I love Asian flavors so I was intrigued immediately once he said this was an off-shoot of Taurus Ox. I ordered the signature burger (the Lao) and a fried chicken sandwich (the Clucker). Both were super tasty. Really strong and unique flavors with great execution. I read some complaints that the burger was thin, but it's what I would expect from a smashburger. There are 2 patties in the Lao burger, which I would have thought would be too heavy but is actually the perfect quantity for me. This is now my favorite burger spot for a smashburger/unique burger. If you're looking for a thick burger, this is not the spot for you. However, come back another time when you're feeling a thinner option, and you will not be disappointed! read more

Stopped in on a random afternoon and was happy to find a great burger joint. Don't be turned away by the hard to open front door! My partner and I both got the Lao Burger, which was great. The jaew bong sauce and taro stem were cool additions! One note is it come with a huge handful of cilantro, so if you aren't a fan make sure to mention it! We were looking for an easy going spot to have a burger with the fam. Ox Burger was perfect. I got the Lao Burger and honestly really want another one today, it was so tasty. Don't come expecting a thick burger -- these are glorious smash burgers, with crispy lace edges and delicious juicy middles. Everyone else got the Deluxe Ox and had only compliments. The Ox Fries are addicting. Super bummed the sambal green beans aren't on the menu as I was craving some veg. Add a hoppy IPA and finish off with some rotating soft serve, and we say Ox Burger nails it -- an easy going, unpretentious spot to chill for a burger with friends. We'll be back. read more
