Went in here because it was close to where I needed to pick up my son later in the day, and I really wanted to treat myself to omakase. It wasn't traditional omakase where the chef serves you one piece at a time, but rather you get the full set all at once. I was starving, and since they serve you all the pieces together, it was a bit of a wait, even with me being the only customer at the counter for lunch. But...once the dish arrived with all my nigiri, I was VERY happy with what I saw! Nice sized pieces with delicately placed toppings on each piece, and all delicious looking. They tasted just as amazing as they all looked. Each piece was really good, and the fish tasted fresh. You could also taste the sushi rice, and the temperature was not too cold, not hot, just right. The flavors were not totally new to me, compared to other omakase, but that's ok for me, because it's just what I wanted. The place itself is not fancy. You walk in and the counter with like 6-8 seats is right there in front of you, no tables. I was greeted by two chefs and they gave me free sake! If you're looking for delicious omakase that's not pretentious, and has friendly chefs, and is affordable, this spot on the UES is the perfect option! I had 18 pcs of sushi, a pellegrino, and free sake, everything ran about $130, that included the tip.

Really down to earth place with great food and customer service! Sushi is fresh and they were nicely accommodating to my shellfish allergy.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

The slices aren't thin, delicate, and melt-in-your-mouth as one usually gets in a sit down; they are extra thick, and I had to really bite down on some of the pieces. The rice was nicely seasoned and was cooked well + portions are also big to match those thiccccc salmon slices. To be honest, I was getting a little nauseated after 5 pieces, haha~ They were definitely delicious but I'd probably just eat 3 or 4 pieces and share with a friend! It was easy to text the number on the website and coordinate a pickup time, and the staff was friendly when I arrived. The restaurant is a little hard to find as the windows are blinded and the sign is a piece of paper on the door.

The pork wasnt dry and was quite soft. I did wish it came with some rice or something bc it's only 5 pieces that goes by quickly. The katsu was very, very moist on the inside, with a crispy batter that was so light it was almost flavorless. I honestly couldn't really tell the difference between the tenderloin and pork loin. Overall the dish had a very light flavor and I added quite a bit of sauce and wasabi. Some of the less memorable dishes were the eggplant agebitashi and truffle rice. The eggplant agebitashi tasted like a cross between an eggplant parm and a bolognese. The truffle rice had a very strong truffle flavor that ended up overpowering everything else in the dish. I thought the slices of raw button mushrooms were a little strange. I really enjoyed the sabazushi. The pieces of mackerel were thick and carried a lot of that characteristic mackerel oily flavor, but the oiliness was cut by enough vinegar to balance everything out. The niku udon was also a surprise hit. The noodles were wide, flat, super slurpy, and the broth carried a deep umami flavor. Overall, I had a pretty solid experience here.
