The rice was dry and tasted days old the meat was dry and inedible and the portion was so small. We threw away most of the meal. Years ago I met one of the owners or original chefs. I was on a plane from Orange County to Chicago. I remember sharing with him the awesome experience of the food and ambience of the restaurant. Limited number of good restaurants in Northbrook area. This is not even good enough. Should have gone to the deli down the street. Luckily I got the lunch price. 2:45p, two other people in the restaurant, so service was quick, but the waitress had on a dirty uniform. Was lunch that busy and chaotic? Asked the food deliverer for water (can we get some water, please?): waitress brought one glass. Are we supposed to share? Glad I got the canned hot and sour soup as an appetizer, because it was downhill after that. Paid extra for soggy, mushy fried rice. Poor attempt at chicken and broccoli. Waste of time and money. Recently visited and ordered the pepper steak. It had an unusual smell upon arrival but tasted fine. After several bites I became more concerned about the smell and decided I shouldn't eat it. Told the server who brought over the manager and they removed it from my bill. Five hours later the food poisoning symptoms began, lasting most of the following day. I reported it to the health department, and also spoke with a pf chang's manager. The manager was not in the least bit interested. I do not recommend taking a chance. read more

I've been wanting to go here for a long time since becoming GF and yesterday I finally did. They have lots of options for GF which is a huge plus for us GF folks. We got the chicken lettuce wraps as a the app (it was huge--could've been a lunch meal). I had the Mongolian beef lunch bowl and my husband got the spicy chicken with peanuts. We also tried the mango ice tea which was black tea with a hint of mango. All was good for a chain restaurant and staff was friendly. It was a little chilly inside which is really the only complaint. I had not been to P.F. Chang's in a few years, as they're not easily accessible to where I live on the south side of Chicago. I suppose I forgot just how good their food was!! The ambience at the location in Northbrook was joyful and welcoming, coming in from the sky. The staff was very friendly and ready to serve. My server Daniel was the best!! He was very personable and quite knowledgeable of the menu items. He described each one with great passion and authenticity, like he really cared that you enjoy your dining experience with him. If it wasn't for the service, we would give this one star. I ordered a non-spicy dish (pepper steak) and it was so spicy that it literally ruined the rest of our meal. My husband ordered the Spicy Chicken lunch bowl and asked for no scallions. It wasn't at all spicy AND it was evident they added scallions and tried to hide/remove them. We love PF Changs, especially for lunch, but this one was not on target. The manager said they changed their chili paste and were training a bunch of new staff, but at least five other tables around us sent food back. It was a smaller location, and we loved the ambiance of the space, but the foot missed its mark. read more

Lately it's been more like 3.5 stars, but I rounded up. I remembered P.F. Chang's as outstanding, and while I know it's a chain and chains vary by location, I can't help but feel that this place is slipping. Try fresher ingredients, maybe? Change up some of the flavors? I don't know, but my vegetarian lettuce wraps were nothing to write home about and I used to love that dish. The last time I stopped by, my takeout order wasn't ready when I got there. Not a big deal, but they do make you choose a rather specific pick-up time, and the place was nearly empty, so it's not like the kitchen had been slammed. These are all minor gripes, but they add up, and at this price point, they could do better. read more

I can to use a gift card that I received and overall left happy with my experience. I think it's important that when coming here, you come with expectations of getting Asian American food - if you do, you'll be golden. Service was great and food came out in a timely manner. The presentation of the food left a little to be desired - the appetizer of dynamite shrimp looked like it could use a little sprucing up with a little green garnish or something. It just looked kind of limpy and sad which was deceiving because the dish was actually really tasty! This is probably one of the simpler things they can do to hype up this place a little without investing too much money. The mongolian beef (see picture) was also tasty but when presented looked sad. I'm not sure if their dishes are just too big for the portions or what but there just seemed to be so much empty space. Hokkien noodles were tasty but had quite a bit of bitter flavor to it that surprised me but was easy to overlook because it was packed with veggies and meat. We just decided to eat at PF Changs in Northbrook. It was a beautiful day so we decided to eat outside on their patio. The restaurant was pretty empty. They sat us outside. We were the only ones. Then they forgot us for about 20 minutes. I had to call the front desk to get someone to come outside. We decided to leave instead. The manager was pretty indifferent when I talked to her. read more

Not only did I wait at the bar as the only customer for almost 10 minutes before I was finally recognized since the ENTIRE staff was in the back talking. When I did get served I did not get the drink special I actually ordered of a pitcher of beer I got a glass. So lost out on the happy hour. Then the order came out wrong that I had ordered to go. Thankfully I checked it and it was remedied before leaving. Unfortunately what was not remedied was the amount of salt they use in their food which I literally got a headache from as it built my BP up while eating before I threw it out because it also tasted like crap. This restaurant has taken a steep decline. Service was very understaffed and the servers just took it in stride. No sense of urgency. We sat for over an hour for our food and didn't get any refills. We requested them, but they always were forgotten. The food was meh and in some cases like the spring rolls were inedible. We were celebrating 3 birthdays and were acknowledged by the manager that we would get celebratory desserts. Nope. No desserts. So disappointed. Decent if you shun spiciness. We ordered PF Chang's in to our friend's house for dinner. I hadn't eaten PF Chang's in years, but couldn't recall why exactly. I chalked it up to one not being near our house. Now I recall, mediocre food. We ordered a lot of things to share; as the only pescatarian I focused my time on a few select dishes. The crab rangoon was average, it's a pretty hard thing to mess up. The shrimp Pad Thai was inoffensive. The chili garlic green beans billed as having a fiery red chili sauce were over salted and devoid of any heat; a hard pass on my book. The Kung Pao shrimp, a traditionally spicy dish, also lacked any trace of heat and therefore was an utter disappointment. If you enjoy heat in your spicy dishes, move along or be prepared to amp up the spice on your own. If thoroughly mediocre and overpriced Chinese food is your thing, this is your spot. read more

Sadly I have to give 1 star based on my last meal here. So we ordered a small catering order today for lunch as I am post surgery. We ordered the crispy honey chicken because my children always loved it in the restaurant. When my husband picked it up, it was awful, soggy, over sauced, strong vinegar flavor...my kids didn't want it and just ate all the fortune cookies. The oldest daughter said most of her chicken pieces were 'flour' meaning just over breaded and no chicken on the inside. So disappointed as I wanted to eat a decent meal during my recovery. When the manager came by she didn't seem to understand the value of making up for the "house" mistake as it took a 5 minute conversation to explain that we didn't order 2, we ordered one editable pad Thai and the house needs to make up for a horrible experience of the other family members waiting while their food became cold. P.F. Chang's is a solid choice for dinner. They have a nice atmosphere and a broad selection of menu items. Parking is easy and they do a great job with serving larger parties. My family came here for my Dad's birthday and we were all pleased with the experience. I loved the peach ginger tea. The egg rolls here are on the greasy side, so if you want to be slightly healthier, go with the lettuce rolls. The entrees here are hearty. I had a tasty orange chicken that had a nice kick to it. The entree lasted me two days, since it was so filling. Their brown rice is exceptional and it is a complimentary side option to the entrees. I was disappointed to see that the mu shu chicken is no longer offered here, as that was one of my favorite menu items. For dessert, I went with a chocolate lava cake. The cake portion of it was pretty flavorless, but the chocolate and fruit offered more flavor. Side note--I think it's hilarious that they offer a dessert called the Great Wall of Chocolate. read more

We decided to drop in for dinner at 6:45pm on Sunday evening. It was really crowded, they and they estimated a 45 min wait for a table. 20 mins later, tables seemed to have opened up - we asked again and they seated us which was great. They had a $20 per head three course menu option which we selected and orders soups, starters and three mains - one of which was a shrimp dish and carried a $4 incremental surcharge. The soups and starter arrived quickly and tasted good. Things started going downhill at this point. The server came back asking if we placed a main order - since their system had crashed. I offered to repeat it - at which point recognition flashed across his face, as he found our order scribbled on his pad. He rushed away to place it. An hour of patient waiting later, he informed us that the kitchen was really slow, and the mains were five mins away. twenty mins later he offered that we could cancel and leave. another 15 mins later he finally came back with our mains. We got chicken instead of the shrimp we ordered, which we pointed out and suggested he adjust on the bill instead of replacing - which he promised to correct. finally after a near three hour ordeal, he came out indicating the manager had "comped" the bill. Then he came out with a bill with a 50% discount and asked if it was enough. We were tired and just wanted to pay and leave. I checked the bill and quickly realized that we had been charged for each item individually, instead of the 3 course set meal at $20. plus the shrimp that was never served. I then pointed it out. took them twenty mins to go fix the bill - when they came out again with the bill - there was a lady and the server, and this time it was an even higher amount than the first. The lady rudely informed me there was a surcharge because i ordered shrimp - to which i politely explained to her it never came out and i pointed it out at the time. Then i asked why the discount was removed - to which she asked who even promised me the 50% discount in the first place. I gestured to the server, who sheepishly agreed. Finally another 15 mins later, they came out with another bill - it was still incorrect, but they had manually discounted it to the correct amount. We were so tired and disgusted at that point, we just quietly paid the bill and left as quickly as we could. All around us, people were walking out of their meals midway, disgusted, but too polite to make a scene. Not sure if this was just one isolated episode or more symptomatic of a deeper issue. Food tasted reasonable and portions were generous. However the lack of organization and any managerial presence in the front of the house as things clearly went awry was disappointing. There are much better Asian experiences in the area and i recommend giving this one a miss. read more

I was between 3 stars and 4. 4 for the food and 3 for the service. I've been to this location many times and every time is the same. The food is great! Loved the sweet and sour chicken! It didn't have a lot of breading and had a lot of meat! Lettuce wraps always a favorite and Mongolian beef was delicious! What bothers me about this location is the service. The hostess looked like she was overwhelmed and disorganized. Our waitress was very nice but took forever to bring our food and whatever else we needed. I noticed the carry out was fast moving and organized. I will continue to come here for the food but will do take out instead. Even though I don't live super close that would be worth it. This is a classic restaurant right next to Northbrook court. The atmosphere felt welcoming, clean, and authentic. There was hand sanitizer provided. The tables were all social distancing enforced. There were even paper slips to confirm who cleaned the table before using. The waiter we had was friendly and always came to check up on us frequently. I didnt know how much rice would come with the entrees so i ordered an additional side. The extra side of rice is HUGE! No big deal, it will make a great lunch for tomorrow.
