Settle in - this is going to be a long one - and it's not going to be good for PF's either.... I've visited this location about 4 times previously. Last night I came to meet an old friend from work who has moved away. Our party consisted of 6 people and we had a 7pm reservation. I arrived early, around 6:30 and waited. When we were seated, at about 10 minutes to 7, we were seated at a booth with 5 place settings. When I informed the waiter he advised that the hostess said we could go back up to the front and be seated in about another 10-15 minutes or choose to stay but it might be tight. I was really hungry and chose to stay. We figured we'd make it work. First of all, I used to be a waitress and while the personality of our server was reasonably polite and friendly, the service he provided was some of the worst I've ever had. He was in a hurry to do nothing, he would disappear for 15-20 minutes at a time, and any time you asked for anything it took forever to get it. The table across from us got irritated because it took him about 15 minutes to bring them change for their bill so they could leave. This happened with two different tables while we were there for two hours. After taking our drink order the waiter took a VERY long time, like 15 minutes, to come back and ask what we wanted. The entire table decided to go with the two for $39.99 meal where you order two soups - one app to split - two entrees - and one dessert to split. We put in the soup order and he immediately walked away while I was in the middle of talking to him. He did NOT take the entree order. About 15 minutes later he came back with the soups on a tray. He sat them on a stand beside the table and then walked away for about 10 minutes to deliver the drinks another server walked up with (mostly waters and tea) to the table behind ours and take their order... while we sat staring at the soup steaming on the tray. Finally - he came over and distributed the soups. He then walked away AGAIN without taking our order when I was trying to tell him we were ready to order. So I was sitting with a menu on my lap eating this soup. By this point I was pretty angry. I ordered the egg drop soup - it was fairly good - but I was so hungry at this point I probably would've eaten anything so I don't know if that speaks to the quality of food or my starvation. It took another 10-15 minutes before he came back again and asked if we were ready to order. We had all eaten the soup and were sitting there pretty angry with menus on the table - by this point we had been sitting there for about 45-50 minutes and had no food order taken and still had menus. We gave the dinner order and another 10 minutes passed and our appetizers came out. I ordered the crab wontons because I love them and had never tried them at PF Chang's. They were not good. The wonton was over-fried and was REALLY hard. It was so hard it was almost impossible to bite through and there was very little filling in the middle of the wonton, very disappointing. I only ate two of the five on my plate and only had those because I was hungry and we'd been sitting for an hour already. Finally the food came. I ordered the beef and broccoli and had that with the brown rice. PF's uses the large grain brown rice and I've always thought it was very good. The food was good, cooked well, warm, no complaints. I needed a refill on tea and had to ask for it twice (which since he only came over every 15-20 minutes) it took about 45 minutes to get it. When we finished eating we all moved our plates around for him to take them and he absolutely would not. We moved them to the end of the table and he would come over, bring a drink to my friend who had a few glasses of wine, and quickly walk off without making ANY eye contact with anyone. He finally could be bothered to come ask what we wanted for dessert and then it took about 20 minutes for that to come out - only then did he clear the dinner plates we'd been staring at for about 30 minutes. Overall - we sat there for two hours and fifteen minutes. Putting our actual dinner order in at about 50 minutes into the meal. That is a completely unacceptable pace even for a party of 6. As I mentioned earlier I was a server for 3 years in college and this was some of the absolute worst service I have ever had. We didn't leave him ANY tip. And I never do that, I think it's terrible, but he took a meal that should've taken an hour and made it last two hours and fifteen minutes and I was pissed, I couldn't justify paying him anything for that, it's like rewarding bad behavior. I don't think I'll come back here for a VERY long time. Sad because there wasn't anything wrong with the food but the hostesses sat us at a table for 5 instead of 6, the server would disappear for a long time and took forever to do anything, I just had such a bad experience that I don't care to try eating here again any time soon. read more

We made a reservation for 2 at 7PM almost a week ahead of time and showed up right at 7. The Hostess stand had 2 or 3 younger females and one male working. The male was obviously a manager (based on his attire), but he was just standing there looking somewhat confused and overwhelmed. We checked in with one of the females and then stood near the front of the restaurant because there was no where else to stand. After a few minutes, one of the other hostesses called our name and took us to a small table. I pointed out a few empty booths nearby, and asked for a booth. I told her that since we took the time to make a reservation we should be able to get a booth. She rolled her eyes and said she'd ask the manager. She talked to the clueless male up front, came back and said that other people had made reservations so we couldn't have a booth. I pointed out a nearby small booth (for 2) and asked why we couldn't sit at that booth, and got the same response. She came back and begrudgingly moved us to that booth. Luckily, the night was saved by our waitress, Lauren, with her outstanding service and the great food. The Avocado & Lobster Roll was amazing, the drinks from the bar were just right, and the meal was cooked perfectly. To top off the Hostess issues, I just received an email from Open Table stating we missed our reservation! Obviously that part of the restaurant needs some serious attention and retraining. We will probably return, but will hope for better service upon arriving. read more

I had some time on my hands while my car was being inspected during lunch time. I walked over to P.F. to treat myself to a solitary lunch. I like to spend time with myself every now and then. I was offered a seat at the bar but I opted for a table. My server did an adequate job, water, with lemon came promptly. I ordered off the lunch pairing menu, Jicama street tacos w/lobster and a house made eggroll. Before the meal came I had finished my water and it was refilled. No more lemon but several other customers were given little plastic cups full of lemons, no biggie. My meal was delivered by a kitchen runner, I prefer my server to deliver my meal but times are changing, I'll get over it. I was somewhat disappointed in my meal. The tacos were very difficult to eat as a taco. I ended up just dumping it all on my plate, after removing the cilantro garnish ( not listed on the menu, I just hate the stuff). Cut it all up and ate it like a salad. The lobster (which was a Hmm $3.00 upgrade) were pea size and rubbery, overcooked. The house made egg roll was mostly brown inside, some carrot. No bright yellow scrambled egg. I've had much better. After I seasoned it with soy sauce my server brought me the house egg roll sauce that the kitchen runner forgot. It was delicious. Nice kick with some horseradish in it. I poured some of it over my Jicama street taco salad, which really needed a dressing. Next December, when my inspection is due, I'll pick a different restaurant to have lunch with myself. There are a lot of choices in Town Center. read more

Went with fam for my nieces bday and had one of the worst servers ever from the moment we were seated. our server never got to us until after about 5-8 min after getting seated. one of the people on our table ordered a coke but took 15 min to come in. i wish i took a pic of the undercooked salmon where the outer part was cooked and the inside was not cooked at all. ate half of it and spat it out after bc im not the type to complain at a restaurant(also bc i eat sashimi and thought its fine but spat it out eating it halfway through bc it got cold and texture was nasty). (only told server in the end it was not cooked). expected half a refund since i already ate half but never removed it off the bill. also the adults on our table realized how attentive our server was towards the people of her skin color and not towards us. was always accommodating them and not us even though the establishment wasn't too busy. anyways never going back again and will recommend my friends and family to never go there! read more

Went to PF Changs tonight for dinner at the Town Center Virginia Beach location. We went in around 5 and I'm glad we did because they have a really awesome $3-$6pm Happy Hour. They have liquids and solids at the different price points of $3, $4, $5, $6 - I had a PBR which was only $2 and my date had a Patron margarita that was $6. We also got the always awesome lettuce chicken wraps for $5. For our main courses we got the Shrimp and Beef Lo Mein as well as the Singapore Street Noodles. I actually added broccoli to my Lo Mein but the Singapore Street Noodles were pretty much perfect as is. They had a really great spicy flavor. The Lo Mein was alright, it could have used a little more seasoning though. Our waitress was great, very nice and we actually chatted with her about some things other than the food. She gave us plenty of time to eat without coming to the table too often ( a pet peeve of mine) but was always around if we needed her. Very good dinner experience! read more

PF Chang's just doesn't do it for me anymore. I used to love their crab fried rice, Chang's bbq ribs, and Chang's spicy Chicken. But now I only go for the appetizers which I feel I can get anywhere. There's nothing special about P.F. Chang's for me. There's nothing I feel like they do especially well. But the food isn't bad. It's just meh. The service is hit or miss. Sometimes slow but still good quality food and accurate orders. The drinks are very meh. Very very meh. Though I don't ever seek out P.F. Chang's, but when I'm there I eat good food. "Bistro" may be one of the most inaccurately overused terms used in the restaurant business today. As most know, the term itself is French in origin. According to Merriam Webster it is "a small or unpretentious restaurant" or even better is the Wikipedia definition of "a small restaurant serving moderately priced simple meals in a modest setting". Everyone thinks they are a "bistro" today. It's the new cool. Have you ever been to Todd Jurich's Bistro? Fabulous fine dining, no doubt about it. A bistro? Well....not really. P.F. Chang's combination of "China" and "Bistro" in their name takes this stretching of the definition to new heights! There was quite a line Sunday night. I thanked my lucky stars that I made reservations, and wondered if they would be able to deliver on them. After checking in I headed to the crowded bar. I had perused the menu online before coming and knew exactly what I wanted to drink; the Orange Peel Manhattan. Apparently quiet a few people order that beverage having no idea that it is basically straight bourbon with a splash of flavor. It ends up being sent right back to the bar. It was outstanding. Chang's also offers 40+ wines by the glass, categorizing the wines on their wine list by flavor category , varietals and intensity. Nice. They also maintain a 7oz. pour for all wines and claim their wines are served at the ideal temperatures of 62 degrees for reds and degrees for most whites. Not that I can measure the temperature for accuracy, but the fact that they make the claim is impressive to me. We were called for our table promptly at 7pm. I was impressed. So many places take reservations and are unable to manage table flow in order to fulfill them. This scored high points with me. We started with Salt & Pepper Calamari, which is calamari tossed with scallions and the house salt and pepper mix. It also had a dipping sauce that was similar to a sweet and sour sauce. These were also very good. Light on the breading, lightly fried, cooked just right. Chang's has jumped on the bandwagon of restaurants adding nutritional values to their menus. I really like this, especially for chains whose menu's and entrée preparations don't vary to the degree a private restaurant might. Unfortunately, the corresponding information was an eye opener. At first glance, the data wasn't too alarming, but as I looked closer I realized that every entrée had a serving size of at least 2, and some were up to 4! Please note that there are their regular entrées, not those off their P.F. Chang's for two menu. I played it safe and ordered Asian Grilled Salmon, which was completely disappointing and overcooked. The server didn't ask how I wanted it cooked and I was too busy socializing to think of it. Everyone else ordered their entrées and raved about how great they were. I had too much information! Ignorance would have been bliss! Our server did a nice job and the food service was very quick. No waiting for the appetizer or entrées. We were kind of a slow table with people arriving late and at different times, but he never made me feel rushed. I appreciate that. Overall, P.F. Chang's was a pleasant "chain" surprise. Believe it or not, I've only been to P.F. Chang's -- ANY P.F. Chang's -- once. This visit was my second. The first time, I was so put off by the pretentiousness and expense of a... Chinese Restaurant, that I had no desire to go back. I went back yesterday because it was my niece's choice. This location was SLAMMED. Don't even TRY going without a reservation, and even if you get a reservation, you might wait awhile. The lady before me waited for an entire hour before she got a seat. It's loud. It's crowded. Service was slow. Our waiter wasn't the brightest bulb, but he was nice. I got the Mongolian Beef, which was great. I do NOT know what they hype is about the lettuce wraps. People, stop saying, "You've got to try the lettuce wraps." No you don't! They're not good. Stop pretending they are. The food (besides the lettuce wraps) is good, but P.F. I ate here today with a few friends. I would love to give this place five stars, but instead I almost took away two stars, because of our terrible server (a gentleman named Dante). We came in mid afternoon around 3pm, so our wait wasn't bad. Our server didn't offer any of the speciality beverages, iced teas, ginger soda, exc. He didn't go over any lunch specials or even mention happy hour. I asked for suggestions off their sizable menu and he just gave one unenthusiastic suggestion. He didn't validate the decision by telling me about the dish. He just said the words and walked away from our table. It took so long to get my drink that I thought he had forgotten it. Now, Dante's poor serving skills aside... my food was phenomenal! I ordered the Crispy Honey Chicken. The chicken was cooked perfectly! Definitely not the dry lumps of chicken I am used to eating at the standard take out places. :-) Everyone else at my table enjoyed their meals as well. What would have made them better is if our server had offered us straws and actually refilled our drinks. This guy must have been at the end of his shift and didn't care about our table. I very seldom visit this location because every time I give them a chance I'm let down. It's NEVER the food mind you, it's the damn customer service. I know it's not their intentions to NOT be attentive or give a shit but it's like HELLO?! My friends and I always enjoy dining at the one in Newport News. Never any issues... servers are super friendly... yada yada... HOWEVER, the hiring manager seriously screwed up in VA Beach. Today (during Happy Hour) I decided to sit at the bar and enjoy a quick lunch. The bartender (I think her name was Lacey or Licey) greeted me promptly and handed me a menu, got my drink order and quickly got me a sweet tea. Ok, we're starting out great! Now, I sucked that tea down quickly. Actually it was gone before she took my food order. I tell her what I want to eat. Assuming she saw that my drink was empty, I waited for my refill. Get this! The damn MANAGER walks by me, asked how am I doing... notices my drink is empty and asked what I'm drinking. I tell him sweet tea and he says he'll be right back with another. OK. I wait.. I wait. My order of spicy tuna roll comes out (A cook brings it to me). Still no refill. I'm starving, so I start to eat it. My mouth is now on fire, I'm half tempted to suck on the ice remaining in my tea-less glass. She never even comes out to see if my sushi is good lol. When she finally does come by I ask her for a refill. She grabs an ice water for the lady to my left and I sit there like chopped liver. Eventually, another cook comes out with my salmon and it's delicious. I start to eat it and my bartender finally brings my refill. YAYYY! I drink that one because by now my mouth is on fire AND dry from all the food. Another male bartender comes on bar and makes me a refill. I'm a little fed up with this location. I mean, it may seem like I'm picking on the small stuff but I served for a long time in the past and this just doesn't cut it. Two stars just because the food is always delicious! I didn't even look at my bill when I was given the check, just handed her my card so I didn't have to wait a year in order to get her to pick it back up. I am gluten free and finding new places to eat is difficult. Some places hardly have a menu with options for me or it is unsafe for me to eat. I called here to see if the gluten free menu (with plenty of options!) was allergen friendly and they did what they could to find out the answers for me. They said it is a safe option for me and even recommended their favorites that I would be able to try. It is soooo good. The hostess and waitresses were so nice and helpful, the food tastes amazing. I've been a big fan of P.F. Chang's for ages, but I've never actually tried their Happy Hour until the last visit. You had to sit in the bar area to order from the happy hour menu. Their Happy Hour menu is superb! A huge selection of cocktails and small plates/appetizers from $3 to $7. Between three friends, we ordered: - One kale & quinoa dip and chips: The dip was cold, which I wasn't too fond of - One jicama chicken tacos (3): Messy to eat, because the soft shells (more soggy than soft) were too small to hold the ingredients, but was still delicious - One Calamari: Delicious. - Ahi Tuna: Also delicious. - Two plates of lettuce wraps: Never. Fails. - Six drinks: From mojitos to a twisted tea All for $75 (so $25 each). Not too shabby for all the food and drinks we had. Definitely will come back again. read more

I visited the local Virginia Beach PF Chang's this evening and was seated by the worst hostess I have ever encountered in any restaurant. I asked to be seated at a booth and she said that I was not a priority customer. She then proceeded to sit me at another booth next to the men's room. After I had dinner, as my party was leaving, I mentioned to her that I didn't think her customer service was very good because she didn't make me very happy. She responded that it was not her job to make me happy. With that kind of attitude I don't think I'll be visiting this place again and I don't recommend it to anyone else read more

We started off with the hand folded crab wontons. They were delicious! Nice crispiness on the outside and the crab filling was very flavorful. Wish we ordered the larger order. I ordered the orange peel chicken and the flavor was good. I wish the chicken was a little crispier, but I'm sure the sauce had something to deal with that. I also didn't really like the actual orange zest in the chicken. I was also disappointed in the portion. I thought they gave me a child's size portion. My wife ordered the coconut curry vegetables. Worst service ever! Food was AMAZING but we didn't see our server for 32 minutes. She came and delivered our appetizer and then didn't come back until it was time to ask if we wanted desert with check in hand. She vanished like Houdini! My wife wanted a second glass of wine. Nope. I decided to stop by P.F. Chang's for a quick lunch before heading to a bridal shower. This was among one of the best service I've ever received. My server was Matt so def. request for him if you want a great experience. He was quick and attentive. I ordered the egg drop soup and it was hot and fresh when it came out. You could even see the steam coming out of it. It came with little crispy wonton strips to put in the soup but I munched on it separately and it was good. I ended up ordering the beef fried rice with extra egg and a side of broccoli. It came out hot, fresh and delicious. The beef was also tender and not dry like I've had at other restaurants. Apparently they make their food from scratch in the back kitchen so that's pretty awesome. They have a huge menu so there were plenty of things to choose from. I've also had their Asian pear mojito and I HIGHLY recommend it! It's tasty and my go to drink when I come here for dinner. We called before going to ask about reservations. There was only 3 of us so she told us to come on in (we were in the green parking garage). Upon entering she is looking to see what's available and she was like well we have one table ready but it's near the bathroom, but if you want to wait 15-20 minutes another table should be available. We chose to be seated near the restroom. There was confusion on the table not being assigned to any wait staff so it took almost 30 minutes for anyone to approach us. The manager (I'm assuming) apologized for the mix up and offered a free appetizer. The food was just okay and the chopsticks had old food dried to 2 sets. The app came out very quickly and the ribs were really good. But the rest of our food did not come at the same time. I ordered sushi and it was brought out 10 minutes after both of my friends. We ate here today and although this isn't the first time we've eaten here and it won't be the last. Me and my wife enjoy eating here even though it's a bit pricey but it's an upscale restaurant compare to a regular Chinese restaurant. They have this new thing where you can have dinner for two for $40. It includes soup, appetizer, two entree, and dessert. Can't beat that cause the portion is pretty good! You'll definetly come out full. This place has excellent service and are always on top of things! Today we were told it's gonna be a 30 to 40 min wait and we waited for over an hour! My wife talked to the manager politely and told him about our situation and he took care of it, not only did he seat us but he took care of our bill by talking off one entree. Went on a Saturday afternoon and wanted to sit outside because it was a fairly nice day. Our server was the overly-friendly, surfer type guy. Which is fine, but you can tell he was putting on an act. Anyway, he's also the type of guy who doesn't use a notepad to take down the customer's order, which in a moment I will tell why that's not a good idea. He takes our drink orders and ten minutes later he shows up. Mind you, he only has one other table to deal with. Then he takes our order, again, with no notepad. 10 minutes pass and he brings out the wrong appetizer. Takes it back and the correct one arrives. 10 minutes later our entrees arrive, and instead of bring the shrimp I ordered, they brought chicken. Takes it back and the correct one arrives. (probably should have used a notepad to take my order) As for the food, the crab won-tons were really good and my fried shrimp were pretty good, too, but the beef and broccoli was lacking. Having to wait unusually long for our drink orders and being served the wrong appetizer and wrong entree wasn't the worst part of our visit to PF Chang's. it was when the bill arrived and saw that it was over $80. Really? $80 for two entrees an appetizer and two drinks, one of them being a beer? That day will go down in history as the last time I ever stepped foot into a PF Chang's. read more

This is probably my favorite "chinese" restaurant in VB. I usually get the Chang's spicy chicken which is like a fresher version of sesame chicken with a spicy kick to it. Today I got the Tokyo Udon Noodles and it was also delicious. It's not a broth and the noodles are moist. The dish had udon, chicken, scallions, mushrooms, and bean sprout. I happened to be in there during happy hour which is from 3-6pm on weekdays and that includes some appetizers, beers, wine, and cocktails (I think). I would recommend the chicken lettuce wrap for appetizer if you want something healthy and tasty! read more

This location is great. I've been several times and I haven't had a bad experience. It helps to make reservations since they're always busy regardless of the time. The service is pretty good here, I can't complain. Once you see how many tables each server has, then you'll know it's difficult. The food here has always been good as well. My favorite thing to order is the Chang's Chicken Soup. They bring it out in a BUCKET sized bowl. It's delicious. read more

My daughter and I visited for the first time yesterday evening for an early dinner, and we are glad we did! The portions are HUGE, and they made adjustments for my dish to be vegetarian and gluten free, I had the fried rice with tofu and it was delicious! My daughter had the orange chicken and pork lomein, and she said it was the best she had at a restaurant. The staff was friendly and efficient, refilled our drinks without needing to ask, and didn't constantly stop by to check on us, I personally find that annoying, yet the kept an eye on the table and were always available when needed. My fried rice could have easily fed two people and same with both the dishes my daughter ordered, plenty of leftovers. read more
