We had reservations for the dog friendly patio. This was a nice structure with wooden roof, walls and partitions for the tables. It was comfortable outdoor dining but it did get nippy as the meal progressed. Sadly there were no heaters maybe because it too much of a fire hazard. If you do select the open patio, it's wise to bring an extra layer no matter what time of the year. The menu was very friendly to people with different diets. I of course needed the diabetic version of most meals. The menu was flexible with subs that took care of many special needs. My friend had allergies and needed a specially cooked entrée. For some reason restaurant kitchens always have trouble with her requests. I guess the cooks just can't bring themselves to follow her instructions. She had to send back her entrée three times to get it properly cooked according to her medical needs. Our server was simply wonderful. She apologize profusely for the kitchen's failure to follow her instructions and just kept trying time after time to get it right. So you know, I ordered the fish and chips, right? Of course. The menu offered two pieces, three pieces, or four piece options. I went with three pieces, hoping that it wouldn't be too much and it was just right. These pieces were a little bit smaller than I'm used to. They were fried to a nice hearty crunch that lasted all the way to the end of the meal. I was very happy, however after I was treated to that divine tartar sauce over at the Anchor (bar and grill) I was pretty spoiled. This particular tartar sauce, while tasty seems so clunky by comparison, and the ketchup was standard ketchup. There was no malt vinegar. I know this is earth shattering news. As the creature of habit that I am, I have ordered the Hawaiian Teriyaki Bowl with salmon for the last ten years, and probably will continue to do so for the next decade as well; it's delicious and filling and balanced. HOWEVER. They have definitely undergone quite a few changes in the time that we have visited this establishment. The quality and portion sizes have dipped in the last few years, despite prices steadily increasing. This has led to fewer visits on our part. The service and atmosphere has remained spectacular throughout, though. The servers are attentive, funny, and efficient; the decor and furniture thoughtfully put together; the space open and well-lit by the natural light that pours in from the plentiful windows. Great experience all around. My partner and I ordered margaritas and we split the calamari and ceviche. For mains we split a "from the grill" plate of kanpachi (amberjack) with chimichurri. We added the skirt steak and grilled shrimp, and we picked brussels and regular fries as our sides. We liked the margaritas off the menu, but they didn't blow us away. My partner also had a Cadillac margarita, which he loved. Every dish we ate was delicious. And the portions are hearty! We can be kinda picky, and we really enjoyed every component of the dishes we ordered. I would definitely eat all of them again! (One minor downside is that the chimichurri sauce we selected for our "from the grill" entree was only on the kanpachi, while the steak and shrimp were served bare. I always walk past this restaurant when I'm heading to Golden Gate Park so it was great that I finally got to try this place based on some coworkers recommendations. The space is really spacious and I love the beach-y vibes. The staff are also really quick and communicative. This is definitely a place to being small groups or a casual date. Got the calamari (not pictured), coconut shrimp (not pictured), and seared ahi sushi taco. Calamari and Coconut Shrimp were really flavorful and both dishes were lightly battered so you wouldn't accidentally eat a huge strand of batter. The seared ahi sushi taco was really fresh and it was perfect for a lighter dinner. Really enjoyed it and highly recommend. The restaurant seemed in disarray. Food and water took a long time to come out. We were brought coconut shrimp instead of calamari. The Japanese Wasabi bowl (sub tofu so it's vegan!) is delicious though 150% of usual dressing amount would be better and they should really consider seasoning their tofu (why doesn't anybody do that???). This is one of the better Pacific Catch restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. I used to really like the small hidden parking spot in the back but it's been taken over by a cute area for outdoor seating. On this day, I met up with my family to break bread and enjoy catching up after they had an event at Golden Gate Park. I ordered a glass of the Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, the Wagyu burger, and an order of Poké guac to share with my sister-in-law. I was pretty happy with the Cabernet and then I had a bite of the burger which was supposed to be cooked medium with a little bit of pink but it was a little bit dry and I wish it had a little more flavor, but I added poke guac on each bite, and it made it so much more flavorful! It was a Bite of surf and turf at the same time which is something that I really love, unfortunately, it was from us having to order two different orders and it wasn't in the same order. Next time I would probably order the burger, but asked for it to be medium rare and then that way I might get it as medium, which would've made it less dense only because I don't like tough meat as It feels cheap to me. As for service, Genesis was fantastic and very accommodating for our very large party, and for this reason is why we have given this restaurant four stars on this super cold day in San Francisco. read more

I'm a local and visit this place from time to time, usually getting the salmon burger with slaw and sweet potato fries, which is amazing. (it's a better deal and quality than Jenny's burger for about the same price, which I didn't expect) This time around I was tempted off of this pattern by the hot fish street food tacos, and kind of regretted it. They were really good, with a nice level of heat but still able to taste the fish... but they were tiny. And I mean visibly, do a double take, smaller than they looked on the menu. The fish barely covered the tortilla and looked lost on the tray. I'm kicking myself for not taking a whole photo of the tray, but did a rough side by side compare in PS. at 11 for two tiny tacos, when I could have paid 15 for just the salmon burger - it's not a good quantity/protein value for the money. They needed to be ~30% larger.... If they intend you to buy more than one plate, you're getting more, but also paying another 11 for 2 more tiny tacos. The Watermelon Agua Fresca was very good, and better than the mango kombucha I had last time. The service was fine, though it took a little time to get the check.
