This was my second time ordering a poke bowl from here. The first experience was great, which is why I decided to come back, but this last visit was extremely disappointing. Every single piece of fish in my bowl had large, tough tendons running through it, making it nearly impossible to chew. It was honestly gag-worthy and completely inedible. I called immediately after picking up my order to ask for either a refund or a replacement, since I had just left the store, but I was told "that's just the type of cut." That response didn't make sense to me, considering I ordered the same item on two different days and only had this issue the second time. We even called the next morning to speak with a manager and were given the same explanation, with no effort to make it right. It ended up being a complete waste of $15 since we couldn't eat any of the protein in the bowl. DISCLAIMER: this is a review of the plate I got from their food truck I tried their Hawaiian plate from their food truck, and overall I think it was only okay. It's authentic but not as tasty as other places I've been to. I had saw people raving about this place on Facebook and have been wanting to give it a try for a couple months now. The price is reasonable, however my biggest complaint is how dry the kalua pig and Lau lau were. The rice was also a little too wet and soggy. I normally like a calrose rice consistency, however there were parts that felt a little too wet. So far I think it's been one of the better options for Hawaiian food in Arizona, but I think Hapa Food Co and Big Island Drive thru are significantly better. It hits the spot and reminds of food for home, but it's no where near quite as good as the food in Hawaii. The one highlight was the poke. The fish tasted pretty fresh and and the sauce was tasty. The loco moco looked really good, and I would be interested in trying that in the future. I'm born and raised from Hawaii and was looking for a good authentic Hawaiian plate lunch. I checked this place out with my boyfriend. He got the loco moco and I got the chicken Katsu. We also ordered a side of poke (creamy spicy). The chicken Katsu was really crispy and tender, almost a little too crispy for my liking but I still enjoyed it. My boyfriend liked his loco moco. The sauce for the creamy spicy poke was absolutely delicious! It was $9.50 for 1/2 pound. The staff were really friendly and welcoming as soon as we walked in. At the end of our meal, the wait staff offered to let us try Japanese pickled cucumber as she said that was her favorite side dish. It was very refreshing and delicious! We were expecting a sample size serving but she gave us a small container full which was so sweet of her! We will definitely be back to try more items on the menu! read more

The restaurant had a great vibe when you first walk in. They played local Hawaii music and there was quite a few products from Hawaii on sale. I'm from Hawaii and I make a lot of food from the island. The flavors in the food were different from what I'm used to. My son had the local moco and my other son had the chicken katsu. Flavors of both were great according to them. I had the coconut shrimp plate. Everything was cooked well but the flavors were different from what I'm used to. Fresh laulau! What!?!? We went here expecting the laulau to be made from frozen but was surprised to hear they made it fresh. Only downside was there was no butterfish in it but must be hard to get in Az. It was onolicous but I also gotta say the Kalua pig on the other half of the plate made it a little too much pork if you know what I mean. Otherwise it was ono as I haven't had laulau in long time! I've been hearing about this place and this week they had meat jun on the menu as a weekly special and I knew that was my cue to head to Mesa with a 45 minute drive to check this place out. I'm not even exaggerating what I'm saying it brought tears to my eyes because I miss whole eyes so much and it felt like I was back in HAWAII eating this. I tried the kalbi ribs, the cucumber salad, katsu chicken and finished it off with some Guava cake. Everything was absolutely amazing and even if this place was two hours away, I would absolutely take the drive. it's a nice hole in the wall that a lot of us are accustomed to and the service was absolutely on point. auntie came over to check on us and so did the owner behind the grill.
