Although I did not have the opportunity to eat at Paco's in person to absorb all of its illustriousness, I was lucky enough to utilize the convenience of its expertly placed drive-thru window manned by some of the finest employees I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. Paco's is located on grant road on the north side of the street. It is painted a beautiful off-white with a light orange almost pink trim (you can't miss it, it is right next to Amor Nails). There is a beautifully handmade billboard that is unparalleled in craftsmanship with a sturdy column hoisting it proudly in the air as if to scream at the city of Tucson that Paco's IS a force to be reckoned with. I have had many opportunities to dine at various establishments in the Tucson area but wouldn't consider myself to be a food connoisseur in even the most remote sense. That said, I have had several of the breakfast burritos and to be frank, they all seem to be a little potato heavy. This is good because I love potatoes (I have been told by many that I have an addiction). However, the fish tacos are what warrant my semi-uncanny review. I decided to try the fish tacos by means of a campaign of finding the best in Tucson. My sister and I are very close with a wonderful bond and we do a lot together. If your feel good meal is a fish stick middle school hot lunch slathered in tartar sauce wrapped in a tortilla with cabbage on top then this may be the choice for you, however, I graduated from middle school 36 years ago and the last thing on my mind is returning for the fine cuisine. I believe there to be much greater options within the Tucson area. With Tucson being a budding young city with major potential in the culinary field, I will not say to Paco's that I won't be back. However, I will not be back for the fish tacos because they left a lot to be desired. As many have noted here, the bathroom is on the side of the building which is great if you're just trying to pop in. read more

This place has some of the best tacos!! Cheap and fast! I always get the 3 rolled tacos OR the cheese enchilada combo plate and a large Horchata!!The only downside is there is ALWAYS a line wrapped around the building during lunch time. First time I ate here was back in 2011. I wasn't overly impressed by anything but I did enjoy the price and the amount of food I got. It's Mexican fast food, so one shouldn't expect some kind of gourmet meal cooked by chef Gordon Ramsey. Flash forward to now and the place hasn't changed. Walked it back to my room and was so disappointed with the meat that I'd wish I'd decided to eat in so I could return it. The meat was over cooked, dry and inedible. Their tacos and taco salads are delicious and the service is friendly. The food has an authentic Mexican taste and their shredded beef is especially tasty. I work on the TMC campus and I go here about 1-2 times a month. Our office even goes here to get lunch for our monthly office meetings regularly. The food here is always amazing, and fresh. The shredded beef tacos combo are what I usually get, although the breakfast burritos I get here are also great. The red sauce they usually give with the meals is also pretty good. When I go here to get food for the meetings, it will be about 25-30 meals, and they have it out within 15-20 min, and have never messed up an order (which is pretty incredible). If you like fast, tasty and cheap Mexican food, this is a great place to go! read more

While the major players in Mexican fast food (Los Beto's, Nico's, et al) have diluted their quality through rampant expansion and significantly increased their prices, Paco's has quietly remained the same. Sure, they only have one location and are open fairly limited hours as compared to the competition, but those misgivings are more than compensated for by staying true to what they are: fast, cheap, and delicious. The bean and cheese burrito I had was plentiful and tasty, not to mention only two dollars. TWO DOLLARS!! And that's about what it should cost but often doesn't. The best thing I have tasted so far is the chili bandido burrito, which is a chile relleno (green chile stuffed with cheese, battered and fried) or two rolled up with rice and beans in a tortilla. Damn delicious yet not greasy or heavy. The salsas they serve with their food are very good but are less remarkable. One small quibble I have with Paco's is their refill policy. They charge the same price for soft drinks (Pepsi products) as Mexican-style drinks (horchata, tamarindo, etc.). Both come from your typical syrup from a box mixed with water style soda fountain. The regular soft drink fountain is self-serve and drinks can be refilled to your heart's content, however they keep the fountain for the Mexican drinks behind the counter and will charge you full price for a refill. Not a big deal, but a little annoying. Regardless, Paco's is overall awesome. I'd give them six stars If I could! read more

UPDATE: Okay, I feel like a fool now. Woke up late (again). Didn't have time to make breakfast (again). Drove by Paco's on the way to work this morning (again). I am starving (again). Instead of going to Circle-K for a crusty breakfast sandwich defrosting since last week, I decided to give Paco's one last chance. Worst case scenario, I waste $5 for a potato burrito. I'm part Irish, potatoes are great. Definitely better than wasting $3 on a semi-frozen sausage biscuit right? Anyway, I got the Machaca, Potato, Egg & Cheese (#6 I believe). It was awesome. So awesome. Lots of Machaca, fresh peppers and onions evenly distributed throughout the burrito. Great tortilla. Red sauce only again, but it's okay, their red sauce is pretty delicious. Who am I kidding, was all pretty delicious. I feel bad for slamming them before but this place is a bit inconsistent apparently....no peppers and onions last time. Anyway, I'm gonna eat some crow here and give it 4 stars. Minus one star for the terrible first impression. I'll make sure to avoid #7 and I'll be sure try lunch sometime. read more

It may not be the absolute best Mexican food you can find in the city, but if you're looking for a quick, authentic, no nonsense Mexican food fix, Paco's is for you! My wife and I decided to forgo our Saturday morning hang over munchies of Nico's breakfast burritos and give Paco's a try. While my Chrizio and egg burrito was ok...my wife's bacon, egg, potato and cheese was terrible. The entire filling was nothing but potato with little flakes of bacon and a tiny bit of egg. Sorry no Paco's for me.. although it was cheap, and the food was plentiful.. Paco's wrecked havoc in my stomach. The heavy combo of cream cheese, beans, shredded cheese, fried fish was a huge no no for me. If I were to come back here, I would probably ask for no cream cheese, beans, shredded cheese.. but that's no fun because that heavy combo is what made Paco's taste good. Yelp, you've led me astray! Came here for lunch after a long hike, and was looking forward to some tasty Mexican. There was something about this place that really, really creeped me out. I mean, I stayed, and I ate, but something was telling me to leave quickly. OK, so how was the food? A mix between unmemorable and revolting. I ordered the carnitas plate with corn tortillas (of course) and to quench my thirst, a horchata. I was actually super excited to see horchata on the menu. Imagine my disappointment, then, when I discovered the horchata was almost undrinkable. First, it was overly sweetened and poorly spiced, but then it had this nasty acrid sourness. I couldn't drink it. I don't know what they did to F* it up, but it was bad. My carnitas plate was also nasty. The tortillas were fine, if not fresh, the pico de gallo was quite good, the hot sauce was tasty, but the carnitas were not. This wasn't shredded carnitas, but big chunks of pork. A bunch of the pieces had huge hunks of fat stuck to them, and some even had skin (and hair!!! ICK!!!) attached. Of the ones that were OK to eat, they just tasted fried, and nothing more. On the bright side, P. had two carne asada tacos and thought they were tasty. Nevertheless, the horrors I felt inside this place far outweighed any potentially decent food they might serve. Paco's is the only place in Tucson that I've found that serves true carnitas. Carnitas is not supposed to be shredded, it is supposed to be chunky, crispy fried and tender in the middle. The Carne Asada corn tacos are super yummy. The Carne Asada comes with pico de gallo and guacamole. I ask for some lime to go with it. The meat doesn't contain those fatty chewy pieces that I have experienced with other "fast food mex" places. I will sometimes change it up and get the bean and cheese burrito. It's simple, but good. Especially with the red or green sauce. The drive thru has a good view of the kitchen, it's always reassuring to see the cleanliness. read more

Unless you hate Mexican food, are a total health nut or have just awakened from a 20 year coma, you have likely eaten at one of Tucson's many fast food Mexican joints. Paco's does not stand out from any of them, IMO. Their carne asada is good. You don't find big hunks of fat or hard little nuggets of God-knows-what in it. Their breakfast burritos are surprisingly bland, usually requiring the addition of lots of salsa. Fine dining this ain't. The food is cheap, as you would expect, and it fills you up. Go in with those expectations and you should have an A-OK experience. Expect much more and you are likely to be disappointed. read more

I have no idea how or why I haven't ever reviewed Paco's before because they have the best beans on the East side of Tucson. For the 38 weeks of my pregnancy in 2014 I ate Paco's every other day- the #1 breakfast burrito (served all day). Large flour tortillas that was cooked to perfection from wherever they get it, I mean it had no tears and was not too thin or too thick- just perfect. Inside were beans, scrambled eggs and cheese that melted into the beans and eggs. No matter what time of day or what reason I find myself on Grant & Craycroft, I'll stop and get this. I had the green chili burrito. Twice! I had it the first time after a recommendation by someone. Then I had to go back for it again the next day. The beans were smooooth. It had right right amount of pork and cheese encased in a warm tortilla. I asked for and topped by burrito with both the red and green salsa behind the counter. Paco's makes a way better drive through burrito that Betos, Viva, or Nico's. (and forget the taco shop - gross) it is my go to "fast food" mexican. Cheap, friendly, clean, and delicious. I go out of my way to go here. I'll admit, I am in a burrito rut - I always get a bean & cheese & pico OR a Tejano (red chile chicken, potatoes, sour cream, cheese, and pico) - so I cannot vouch for their other items.
