I was a little sad to hear that Young's Ramen closed down after being a staple at the Salt Lake Shopping Center for so many years. Then I saw signs for a new Thai restaurant, and I wasn't so sad anymore. I like that the owners kept the look and feel of the old restaurant the same. It's small and always busy. The Shopping Center had a Thai restaurant years ago (in the old Loong Hwa space, now occupied by the current Chinese restaurant), but it didn't do too well. I was hoping that Pad Thai would fare better and so far I've been happy with everything I've had there. The food is excellent - some of my favorites include the Pad Ki Mao, Basil Beef, Papaya Salad, and Tom Kha Soup. We often go during lunch since it's close to work, and my colleagues rave about their Panang. Prices are comparable to other Thai establishments, if not more affordable, and they offer Beef options, which not a lot of Thai places do. Pad Thai also has different levels of spicy. I consider myself a spicy food aficionado, but was taken down by their Thai Spicy. Not to worry, their servers were quick to refill my water on a regular basis. Portions match the price, which is always a great thing. It's a great lunch option and even better for take-out for Thai at home! read more

I've eaten here three separate times trying to give it a chance. The first two times we weren't very impressed--and my husband has grown up eating Thai so he could always go for it. But this last time we did take out and my green curry was so off. It stunk and the eggplants just smelled rotten. His fried rice was mushy from too much water and tasted soapy. The mint and lettuce on our rolls were very wilted too. We couldn't finish our meals and were disappointed. read more

Convenient location! We usually eat in and phone order to drive by and pickup on our way home from work. I like the chicken yellow curry and pork panang curry. Their chicken basil has green beans and bamboo shoot...really good stuff. Small and clean restaurant with exceptional and fast service. read more

We always get the long rice salad my husband loves the Panang curry -- the fried chicken is amazingly good along with the green beans and chicken. Some days I also crave their long rice soup!! This place is AMAZING! ai had the whole fried Tilapia, Spring Rolls, chicken sateh, and a Chow Fun dish. Everything that came to our table was fresh, hot, and tasted wonderful. Their customer service was out of this world. We were a bit unlearned on some of the dishes and they explained it to us and even gave us recommendations, according to what we said we liked. Just moved to Salt Lake area and have been looking for a convenient located Thai restaurant. Opened up yelped and saw that this place was located close by and it was recommended. Despite a recent negative review, I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. I had the green chicken curry, Papaya salad, Crispy Egg Rolls and Thai Ice tea. All of the spicy dishes, had an appropriate amount of spice, the Papaya I ordered mild, I'll try spicy next time. read more

This place has awesome Thai food; second to my favorite Thai restaurant. I have never dined in but I order take out quite frequently so you could say I'm a bit obsessed with this place..or just a fatty ha! My boyfriend and I always end up ordering the same but like who doesn't love chicken? For appetizers we get the House Fried Chicken, which they give an ample amount of, and the Chicken Sateh. The fried chicken is so juicy and tastes even better with Sriracha (unsure if they provide it at the restaurant but we always keep a bottle at home). The Chicken Sateh is my favorite. It's drenched in their house sateh sauce which is ridiculously good! Although it only comes in 4 skewers, it's enough to fill you up. Our main course, which we always end up saving for later because we're too full by then, is the Evil Jungle Curry with chicken. I used to order it with seafood but they aren't as generous as they are with chicken. Also, if you are a fan of spicy food I recommend getting Thai hot when ordering any of their curry but even then I still think it's not spicy enough. Their workers are always polite when I order on the phone. However, if a guy answers, expect to pay $9 for curry that only fills up half the container. read more

First time here. I usually only order curry, specifically Evil Jungle or red curry, when I get Thai food. Was oddly craving something different, so besides my usual order of evil jungle, I also ordered Pad Thai, which I have never had. Thought it was appropriate to order my first pad thai from Pad Thai. Order of Pad Thai, Evil Jungle Curry, & side of Jasmine rice came out to $20.40. Not too bad for Thai food. Have no reference but the pad thai was tasty to me. The evil jungle curry however was not. It was soo salty, & not creamy/coconut-milky like I'm used to. Even eating it with the Jasmine rice didn't cut down the saltiness, that's how salty it was. Totally inedible. :/ which is sad because what a waste of $9 & food/ingredients, & I was really craving some creamy evil jungle goodness. Maybe I'll try this place again, because it's so close to my house but idk...probably only as a last option. read more

Ordered two pad thai and two chicken fried rice, with a couple other dishes. The fried rice was soggy and the pad thai was not very flavorful. I actually refried it all in a pan the next night and it was pretty good. My family thought it was a definite improvement. Maybe the restaurant was a little busy the night we ordered. Wanted some food after arriving from Los Angeles, CA to Honolulu, HI. Not ready for local food yet so we searched Thai food. Luckily, we were directed to Pad Thai! First, and foremost in my book, is the service. If you've been to Thai restaurants in L.A. you'll know that service is the last thing on their minds. However, at Pad Thai, service was with a smile, a "thank you", and a "you're welcome". Language is sometimes a barrier but the waiter was understandable. Overall, 5/5. Next, the food. I had the Cashew Nut Chicken with no onions, add broccoli, side of white rice, and a Thai Iced Tea. My lovely wife had the Pad Thai beef, no sprouts. We also had spring rolls (6pcs) as an appetizer. Like most family owned Asian restaurants, food came out quickly and hot. The Cashew Nut Chicken plate was AWESOME! I almost ate the entire plate. The restaurant has chopped peanuts in a condiment container on every table for self-serve and a delicious homemade spicy sauce. Both were delicious. My wife, however, had to spice up her dish, since it didn't meet her palate.. The Thai Iced Tea was flavorful, but not the best I've ever had. Still, it was good enough that I would order it again. The price of the food is also very reasonable. Overall, 4/5. The other thing is parking. There is plenty of it! There are no worries here since they're in a shopping center. Overall, 5/5. The last, and honestly the least important, thing is the décor. Looks like a fast food place (small like subway). 6 tables that can seat couples and 3 tables that seat quads. That is it. Since I care more about the food and service than the décor, overall is 5/5. In conclusion, the place is clean, the food is good, service is good, parking is good. Therefore, 5 stars. This is my favorite place to get thai! The food isn't presumptuous or fancy but it is very good and reasonably priced. Portion size is excellent and flavor is second to none. If you like spicy food, and order "spicy", no punches are pulled. Also, if you are looking for a fun, authentic, thai atmosphere check out Bobby's Bar which is next door. This place is a regular stop for us. It is easy for two people to get an excellent, satisfying meal with drinks and appetizers here for less than $30. I've been four times, and will gladly go back. The wait staff is friendly and prompt. The place looks especially clean for a Thai spot in a strip mall. The food is consistently delicious and of good quality (and quantity!), and the prices are cheap. The Pad Thai and the Pad Kee Mao are my standbys (both $8 to $9) and I have yet to be disappointed. The parking lot can be crowded, but otherwise its hard to find much to complain about. For a date or getting takeout on a budget, this place is tough to beat. I really enjoy their panang curry! I cannot tolerate spicy and I get it mild and there is great flavor but no spicy taste at all so if you want the food to have a kick I'd go with medium or spicy. They deliver takeout and do deliver to Tripler medical center which is a plus if you get tired of the same old hospital food. Affordable decent food in a causal atmosphere. They have limited seating so for peak hours you may want to call ahead of time. read more
