It comes with a spicy hot sauce that adds incredible flavor to the taco! A must try! Also, give their micheladas a try! They are very tasty. Really good food. We requested it spicy and they did not disappoint. I got the redfish with red Diablo sauce. Super fresh, tender, tasty, good. My wife got the shrimp with cheese and spicy green poblano sauce. Also great. Service was great too. The music was a bit too loud for 6pm though. read more

This place is super yummy!! This is not TEX MEX- it's the real deal. It wasn't very crowded when we went but started picking up later as they have live music and a later crowd and we were there early. The chips and salsa are so yummy!! Excellent margaritas, the ceviche, Shrimp, fish tacos yummy, my husband had the steak tacos and he loved the rice here. The food was slow to come out but we had a family of 7 on the patio...but once it arrived it was so yummy. Large portions and so tasty. We will be back!!! Great server, food okay, out of several things we ordered. Started of rocky with hot (spicy) salsa and stale chips. Made server try one. She said they made them fresh this morning but they were bad. They did make fresh batch for us but due to lack of climate control, these were stale before the end of the meal. Serving portions average to generous depending on item. Fajita beef on nachos tasty but very little cheese. Mahi Mahi cerviche plentiful but nothing special. Salad came with iceberg lettuce in place of romaine and dry without dressing or any offered when order placed. Out of flan, tres leches cake tasty. Average place, been better, had worse. read more

The front door is weirdly arranged, as you have to walk through what looks like the patio for the restaurant. It sits at the back of a building, but we found the entrance so that was good. The place was not packed on a Sunday afternoon like we expected which was awesome! We ordered a dozen oysters, a shrimp and octopus cocktail, and the mazatlan ceviche because they were out of the Ceviche dorado (mahi-mahi) but it's okay because our server was kind enough to notify us prior to service. We had to lower the rating down to 3 stars just because the oysters were far from fresh. I brought it up to the server who was a little combative at first (stating oysters were opened each morning although they were stuck to the shell as if they had been opened up the day before). There was also some grayish mucus-like discharge on some of the oysters. She "exchanged" them only to bring us back the same oysters that we had previously returned. We decided not to eat any of the oysters to avoid food poisoning, but we ate the shrimp cocktail and the mazatlan ceviche. The shrimp cocktail was good, although a bit salty for my taste, and the shrimp were the precooked type (hard and chewy) while the octopus was cooked just fine. The ceviche was delicious. Anyhow, we paid the tab even though we didn't eat the oysters, and left. I like the ambience, but I'm unsure if we'll be going back. read more

Hidden next to the bowling alley, Palapas food is mediocre. Had the crab enchiladas which was bland and husband had the tacos al carbon which was nothing to rave about. The only blessing about this place is that it has a cool patio and full bar. read more

Went tonight with my family and had the worst experience. Laura G the waitress took our order she repeated the other to us we corrected her and the first dish came out 30 minutes later. She forgot our drinks the Camarones Cucarachas were super cold. I asked her why are they so cold she said "you touched them I can't do anything about it" Then she brought my shrimp soup cold again with cold rice and 50 minutes later no drinks. I told her "what happened to our drinks she said "What drinks" and I said what about the shrimp cocktail she said "what cocktail" we asked for our receipt and to remove everything we didn't get. She was either tired or normally messes up orders. 2 Clients were leaving very upset and I asked why were they upset. They both had similar complaints on Laura G. I usually go to the other Palapas and no issues but I'm never going to this one again. read more

I am not exactly sure why there are not more reviews, but I have been waiting for Palapas Richardson to open for awhile. I had the shrimp in the four chilies sauce, it was really good with a nice char taste on the shrimp and paired with the charro beans really well. The standards for a Mexican place were solid as well: the frozen margarita was stiff and not too sweet, the chips were adequately salted and the salsa just right. The service was pleasant and the large patio made for a nice atmosphere on a warm night. The price point is slightly higher than your average Mexican place but the quality is much better. read more

Came in on a whim... Almost left because the bartenders English wasn't very good. OMG soooo, glad I didn't leave. Order the Salmon Salad- - - got to be one of the best salads I have in years. Small diced strawberries, oranges the cutting of the vegetables was perfect- bite sized peices! Salad included, avocado, Red Onion, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, fresh lettuce and a huge piece of salmon that the cook said came in that day... Salmon was cooked perfectly! I couldn't be happier. If you're looking for a vegetarian option just ask for the salad without meat. Yummy!!! I think I will be back for lunch to try the salad without meat. FYI, it came with thousand island dressing. Not my favorite-- I just poured the salsa over the salad gave it a perfect flavor. read more

I really like this place! I've gotten the shrimp cocktail both times I've been. Comes in a huge goblet, filled with large shrink, avocado chunks, onion, cilantro and a sauce that I am in love with. It's different from the regular cocktail sauces and has an almost smoky flavor. Indoors, the restaurant is cute and colorful. Outdoors, they have a large patio area. Appetizer ordered was Blue Point Oysters; I would order them again! Sipped on some Mezcal of which they have 4 to choose from. Main course Camarones ala Cucaracha aka jumbo shrimp split in half grilled, Whole Red Fish fried served with rice and beans. The hostess, bartender and bus boy were on point. Now, the waitress needs help. Based on the service we did not receive from waitress no dessert was ordered. I hope this location make it in Richardson. Food seemed fresh, but from the moment I walked in this place was a disappointment. I was excited to see a new patio place in this area. The staff was nice, but not very attentive. The place wasn't busy, and they were still slow. The mariachi music was turned up way to loud. It took awhile to get ceviche. Pictures online looked good, but it was bland and nothing special. I then had the crab enchiladas with red sauce. I had crab shell in my enchilada, it tasted fishy, and somehow the flavor was not on point. The red sauce was very watery and left much to be desired. The rice was bland, and the mixed veggies tasted like the frozen ones I buy at Sams club. My husband had one of the taco variations and he had similar feelings about his experience. This might be a good happy hour with a group since it would be easy to get into. But we won't be going back for dinner. read more

I went in on Saturday 5-11-19 at 8:00p.m. Our server didn't know how to serve she didnt even introduce herself...I ordered the seafood soup and it barely even had any seafood in it, All it had was carrots they should just call it carrot soup instead and I showed her and she said she would take it off my check because I didnt eat it and she ended up charging my card for the soup even though I told her before charging my card to take it off so when a manager comes and tries to give me a refund he said he couldn't because he didnt know how to work their computer system. What's the point of having a manager if they don't even know how to treat customers or don't know how to work the system..I will never come back to the this place the food was not that great and the food is way over priced. read more

This experience was a real mixed bag. The food was good. The service was awful. When we went in, there were three other tables that had guests. Two servers. The guy who greeted us at the door was very friendly and welcoming. When our server meandered over, there was no water. We ordered drinks. One of our group said, "how's the margarita?" With no enthusiasm at all, she whispered, "it's good". I was not convinced. We asked for water and a second bowl of salsa for the three people at our table. That took forever. We asked for recommendations - she mumbled something about one of the entrees being good. Here's the kicker: the food was great. Surprisingly, so was the margarita! Every thing we ordered - brisket, shrimp, fish - all were wonderful. It appears that our young server was just not trained. She was not friendly - and appeared to be someplace she really did not want be. She was not helpful - we had to ASK for another drink. Again - she needs further training - for her own benefit, the restaurant's, and the guests'. It was pretty pricy - over $100 for three entrees and drinks. About midway through dinner, they cranked the music up so that conversation was impossible. We asked them to turn it down a little bit. They did - for about 15 seconds - then turned it right back up. We might've lingered over dessert (not even offered) and coffee, but there was no point with the blaring music. Probably wouldn't go back, just because the service was so bad. That may also explain why there were only four tables of guests at 7:30 in the evening. read more

I had a fabulous dinner here Friday night with my wife and daughter. It was a little slow, so we got lots of attention including complimentary guacamole, which was fresh and delicious. I had Red Snapper tacos, my wife had Mahi Mahi tacos, and my daughter had a salad with grilled Salmon. The food is fresh and delicious, and it is nice to have a restaurant that specializes in Mexican seafood, as we have more than enough Tex Mex in Richardson. Margaritas are a bit pricey, but they use premium real 100% Agave Tequila. They also gave us complimentary Tres Leches cake, and that too was perfect. I really want this place to do well, great food and nice people, please go and give it a try if you like Mexican Seafood. read more

Okay so let's start. This is probably the worst seafood restaurant I've ever been at. They don't give you limes no napkins no nothing. I asked for napkins and she literally gave me 2. No mames. Such a disappointment. The food was okay but to be honest it doesn't even compete with many other seafood places. For okay food I'll stay home and cook myself. The service was trash. And they don't even give you tortillas. I'm eating "Mexican style " carne asada with no tortillas. I'm just so confused. Look just don't go to be honest with y'all. Just letting y'all know tho it was the location in Richardson. I don't know how the other locations are. Hope this rant helped someone of y'all out. read more
