My friend and I went here one weekend. We luckily grabbed a seat outdoors, which was really lovely. We shared the PB's plate (3 buttermilk pancakes, 2 poached eggs, and bacon) and a side of breakfast potatoes. It was good! Nicely presented too. My only gripe is that the PB's plate is $25, which imo is wildly expensive. Possibly similar pricing to the other popular brunch places in sf.. but still that's kinda wild when the eggs and bacon (2 of the 3 items) weren't that different from any other brunch spot. So I'm taking one star off for that bc it's GOOD, but I think it would have to wow me to be that much ya know? read more

Pancake Boy had so many yummy-looking items on their menu that it was hard to narrow down exactly what I wanted. We settled on getting the ube pancake, the chilaquiles, and a spicy chipotle chicken sandwich. The service was great here, everything came out pretty quickly and they made sure we had everything we needed during our meal. The chilaquiles were our favorite part - the chipotle pork was tender and marinated well and came with a side of scrambled eggs with tortilla chips mixed in, topped with cotija cheese and salsa verde. You can also choose to get a side of salad or fries. The plate was huge and very filling. This is not complaint against the restaurant itself, but this was my first time having chilaquiles and while I liked the flavors, I didn't like how the tortilla chips get soggy after a couple of minutes - next time, I would ask for it on the side. The ube pancake was beautifully plated with fresh fruit on top, along with a scoop of ube butter, and then ube dipping sauce on the side. It wasn't overly sweet which we liked. While very good, it was unfortunate that the pancake was a little burnt on the bottom which made it a little more dry. The chicken sandwich was interesting - while it was good, it was very saucy and messy. The sandwich is advertised as being "spicy" on the menu but it had no hint of spice that we could taste - if anything, it tasted more like sweet teriyaki sauce. French Toast: A must try! It is sweet, a little savory, and with a crunch from the macadamia nuts. Huevos Rancheros: Very solid and made with fresh ingredients. What makes PB's unique is that they have tostadas on top and bottom, which added texture and dimension to the dish. Chilaquiles Verde: The verde sauce was the highlight of the dish, as it should be. We've eaten here several times. Overall, the food is three stars, service is two stars. As a public health nurse, I can't help but spot germy practices. I noticed the two waiters were bussing tables with disposable gloves on, and also bringing out freshly-made entrees from the kitchen with the same gloves on. This is unsanitary, at best. I brought this to our waiter's attentions, and she acknowledged my concerns. Nothing changed though, and they both continued bussing and serving with the same dirty gloves on. Came here on a Sunday morning for brunch! Pancake Boy is located on a cute street in Noe Valley with other cafes and restaurants. I arrived with a party of 3 at 10 AM with a wait time around 10 minutes (I recommend coming early, or else a longer line starts to form). The restaurant was a bit small but we got seated quickly. My friends and I each got our own savory dish and shared a sweet dish. Service was pretty quick and the portion sizes were very large. The prices were ~$20 per dish, which is pricey but pretty standard in SF. I got the SF omelette which came with chicken apple sausage, tomato, avocado, cheddar and I got to choose a choice of salad or house fries. The omelette was very filling and flavorful. I enjoyed the dressing which came with the salad side. I also tried the french toast. To my surprise, it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet but it did lack some flavor. We stood in line outside the shop to wait for a table and the hostess gave us a menu to look at while we waited when we were next and gave us an update that our table is being cleared. Imma keep it real. I typically enjoy good solid food, nothing fancy. Just good food and ambiance. I was excited to check this place out and was really craving pancakes. Finally got to try Pancake Boy after reading all the reviews about it for being a great place for brunch in Noe Valley! I've always seen the lines being long to get seated but we surprisingly got seated within 15 minutes. They have a lot of options for pancakes and have good options for sweet and savory options. I got the Garden Scramble and my friends and I shared the French toast. The Garden Scramble was just about okay, it could use more flavor but the side salad was really good with the dressing. The French toast was pretty good and not too sweet but still moist. I also got the matcha latte which was nice and refreshing and had the perfect sweetness. A good friend recommended this spot for breakfast and I know it's called Pancake Boy but I wasn't in the mood for pancakes. What I did see many people around me order was the marscapone pancake with candied walnuts. That dish had layers of marscapone between the 3 stacks of pancakes, topped with candied walnuts and banana. I ordered the corned beef hash which was delicious with chunks of corned beef stir fried with bell peppers and onions. The other dish tried was the Seaboard eggs Benedict which was over a slice of multi grain bread. Coffee is $4 a cup with refills. Parking in the area can be hard but with some patience and willingness to take a short stroll, it's not too difficult. The restaurant has outdoor seating and also a parklet, very dog friendly. Service is attentive and friendly. I had the "Banana Mascarpone Pancake" - Vanilla Curd, Candied Walnut, Banana, Sweet Cream- the topper is the real maple syrup! The pancakes were so fluffy and yummy!! Really wanted to like this cute breakfast spot in Noe Valley, but the food was just BAD. It's definitely a busy spot, so maybe we should have stuck with the pancakes? The Ube Latte + side orders of Bacon and andouille were okay, but the entrees were terrible. Fried Chicken French Toast- visually looked appealing, but had zero seasoning on the chicken. There was a very thick crispy batter on the outside, but very bland. The two pieces of chicken didn't include a breast. The French toast also lacked flavor. Florentine Benedict- wasn't sure there was even bread in the Benedict because it had already turned to mush. Unfortunately, I wouldn't come back to Pancake Boy. Very solid brunch spot! Came by on a sunny Saturday so we sat out in the atrium and had an amazing time. As a local this is such the perf location as we ate and then walked around 24th St. We ordered the Cali Scott Salmon Benedict, Lemon Ricotta Pancake, and the Rustic Flat Omelet - all the plates are big in portion. Our fav was def the pancakes, they were so fluffy and it was a such a nice balance of the lemon citrus and the cheesiness of the ricotta. Why are SF restaurants colder inside than it is outside? That's the first thing I noticed when coming here. Came right at opening (9 am) on a Saturday, so was seated right away. Got the red velvet pancakes and tried the banana mascarpone soufflé pancakes and shrimp & sausage grits. I don't care for grits, so would definitely pass on that in the future. Looked good, just wasn't for us. The banana mascarpone pancakes were good, but a little disappointing. Good banana flavor, but the mascarpone filling was meh and they're definitely not true fluffy soufflé pancakes. The red velvet pancakes were good and didn't need syrup. They're big and I only ate half. If you like red velvet I would recommend them. Would I come back just for them though? Probably not.. Service was fine. Food could've come out a bit faster. We were in the area to get our new foster her first round of puppy shots and we choose this place based on Yelp reviews and the ability to have pet seating outside on a beautiful Saturday morning. We were deciding between the Ube, Red Velvet, and Pistachio latte--then decided to match their Pistachio against Starbucks. It was really yummy! After scrolling through Yelp photos, I let the boyfriend know it was between the Banana Marscapone Soufflé Pancakes and the Lemon Ricotta Strawberry Soufflé Pancakes. He found a combo that gave us a choice of either with some savory items as well so we each got that + a side of their specialty wedge potatoes as the combo didn't come with it. This meal was perfectly portioned for us both. I would say that the soufflé ricotta pancakes definitely fill us up more than usual probably due to the ricotta in between the layers of cakes. The wait was around 20min or so even if we called ahead and they said they had an outdoor table for us. It was worth the wait. There is usually a wait line because the food is amazing and full of flavor. The indoor and outdoor seating helps with the line. Service is great and waitresses are super attentive. There was a pre-charged tip of 15% once we received the bill. Not mad at it though. The chicken tenders with chorizo was the favorite. The toasted bun was perfect to make a sandwich with the tenders, coleslaw, special sauce, and pickles. We would had only wished the home fries and chilaquiles were a little more crispy. The pulled pork was also more on the sweet side because it had a chipotle sauce. The soufflé pancakes are just the cherry on the top to finish everything off.
