It pains me to write this review but Panda Delite in Matlock has finally done it. I have been ordering with them for years and I did like I did in the past tonight, ordering combination fried rice very spicy. This is the same thing I have ordered in years and someone basically dumped pepper in my food. For the first time, I called to let them know and the lady I spoke with basically blamed me for the wrong order. This is a place I order from almost weekly, even through the pandemic when business was slow. She was so rude on the phone and hung up on me. That's bad customer service. So first off I rarely leave a review but somebody had to. So I stopped here for lunch and I should've known it wouldn't be authentic Chinese cuisine because I didn't see not one Asian person and I should've followed my first mind. I get the plate n open it and the food just looks sloppy overcooked and disgusting. The chicken was literally just crispy skin no meat inside the skin on my sesame chicken. The egg roll was thrown on the plate already soaked in sesame chicken sauce. It was possibly the worst Chinese food i ever had. If u want some fried sesame skin with a terrible presentation then this is the place. The portion size is awesome! Enough for two persons to share. I had the orange beef. The menu suggested that it would be hot in taste. It was not hot at all. There was a very mild heat. The sauce was extra sweet. I did not like that. I would have rathered more heat than sweet. The fried rice had no vegetables. It tasted like white rice with a little soy sauce added for color. My companion had empress chicken. He enjoyed it however he commented that the chicken was not white meat but dark. All their chicken dishes appear to be made with dark meat. I had the sweet and sour soup which was ok. It was missing the sour taste and the hot spice. The egg rolls are made of beef instead of pork. Is that a thing now in making egg rolls. I don't like them cooked with beef. The taste is not authentic. The prices are reasonable. I started to give them a 3 star but as I write this they deserve a 2. I will not be back and there is no hope that I will return in the future. read more

I don't know where to start. I'm stunned. Amazed. My tastebuds are swooning. For years I've had daydreams that a chinese restaurant would open near where I live where I could get lightly fried, delicate tasting lemon chicken. I wanted something with a tangy lightly sweet sauce, batter with the perfect thickness and not competing with the chicken, crispy yet tender instead of possessing it's own structural integrity, and chicken that tastes like they'd gone out to the yard that morning and chased down the bird themselves then marinated it for tenderness. I found the perfect lemon chicken. Tonight, my chicken dreams came true. Panda Delite has opened on Matlock road just a bit down from Fry's Electronics on the other side of the road. I ate there tonight (obviously). I brought it home to sit and watch the vp debate and enjoy it with a cold beer. It was fabulous - everything I'd wish for. I really couldn't fault it in any way whatsoever. I give the chicken itself 5 stars. Admittedly - I'm gauging this off of one meal. I have a general policy though. I try the general tso or lemon chicken first when I try a new Chinese place. If they can't do those - I never go back. If they can - I branch out. OK - so much for my positive vote on this place. Here are some details: The fried rice that came with the meal was ok. I ate it, but it didn't impress me. It wasn't 2 star rice, but it wasn't 5 star rice either. It was even better than average 3 star rice. It was cooked just right, not oily, not overly salty, and hot. It really was pleasant, but I've had fried rice before that I'd fill up on and eat again for my next meal. This wasn't that. To be fair - it was the "entree accompaniment" rice, as opposed to the fried rice entree. That might be another story, and I will definitely try it. Anyway, if there's anything to work on, this is it - if only because it's not perfect yet. Next time I'll get steamed and see how that is. (added later: steamed is perfect. The house fried rice is incredible and delicious. It has as much meat as a meat entree, in addition to the rice. It's also a huge meal that could feed two men) Size-wise the place isn't overly large, but it's laid out well with no wasted space. It was clean, and the aroma in the dining area was one of freshly made chinese food and nothing else. This is a huge plus for me. I'd guess it to seat about 60. Fortunately, they were busy but not packed. There are probably a couple hundred other informal Chinese restaurants with the 7 dollar entrees in the DFW area. I've never been to one that was fairly busy. This one had several times more folks dining inside than any other restaurant in this category that I've ever been too, and there have been dozens. I took that as a good sign, and it was. I'd guess there to have been about 10 tables with multiple folks enjoying their dinner. Thanks Panda Delite. Please keep doing whatever you are doing. I'm going for the General Tso chicken next time and looking forward to it. Added later : I'm still thrilled with Panda Delite. I've had the General Tso chicken, the sweet and sour, mu shu chicken, the chicken wings, and several other dishes I can't remember the names of. It was all great. The General Tso was excellent. I'd put it in the 90th percentile of all GT chicken. The kung pao chicken was literally the best I've had in my entire life. The szechuan style shredded beef is incredily delicious. The sweet and sour was excellent. I've talked to the owner, Junnie, and have learned that all sauces and broths are cooked from scratch. The steamed rice was perfect. The chicken wings were deep fried, unbattered, and seasoned lightly with 5 spice powder and fresh ginger. I give them 5 stars on these and I'll go back for a pile sometime. I'd like to add that the owner greeted me by name a week after we'd met, and then, came by my table with a paper menu (to take home) and suggestions on other items she thought I might like in the future. Service - 4 Stars Food - 4 Stars After 3 years its probably time to update my review, since I was the first to review this little Chinese Food Oasis. Don't think I haven't been back many times, since. It's where my wife and I go when we're near Highland Village and Matlock area. My wife usually takes her mother here when they go out shopping, and her other women friends as well. The lunch specials are $5.95 or so and include choice of entree, choice or rice, egg roll and choice of soup. It's just hard to go wrong with those prices and the good food. I'm surprised that there are so few reviews on Yelp after all this time and relatively few great reviews, but the continued success of the place must show that most of their customers are perfectly happy to keep coming here despite the lack of Yelp love shown this place, or maybe this just want to keep the secret to themselves. Food was decent. The moo goo gai pan had more garlic than I'm used to but it was good. The combo fried rice was great just not spicy enough. My only complaint was the serving size of chili sauce...you pay 75 cents for maybe 1 teaspoon...and thats being generous. My family loves spicy so we probably won't return here. Chili sauce is free at other restaurants and the containers are larger. Food wasn't anything spectacular but it was a good meal. read more

Lunch Review of Panda Delite....oh my where do I begin. First impression was that it was clean, organized and inviting! The lunch menu was diverse and each came with rice and an eggroll. I decided on the orange chicken. I also ordered crab rangoons (my fav) and they came out first. They were perfect, not greasy, fried crisp to perfection! Then my huge plate of orange chicken. The sauce was incredible, with just the right balance of sweet and spicy. The chicken was not over cooked, and not greasy at all. The prices are incredibly reasonable and they deliver as well (I am outside their delivery zone ). I have passed by here many many times and never paid any attention to it at all. I love, love, love Panda Delite! It's a little out of my way, but definitely worth it; I've tried several places around UTA but none of them can match Panda Delite in terms of quality. I've had beef, pork, and chicken dishes, and the meat is always very good, tender and flavorful, and there are no big chunks of fat or gristle. The vegetables are also very fresh. Every dish I've had has been good; my favorites are the combo fried rice, orange chicken, and beef with garlic sauce. It's not the cheapest Chinese place in town, but the large dishes are a ton of food for a very reasonable price, and for ~$1.50 you can upgrade any large dish to a meal and get an egg roll, soup, and chicken wing, which is great if you're starving and want leftovers later. I always get takeout, and it's really easy to order over the phone. Wait time is usually about 20 minutes, even during lunch and dinner hours. And if you do have to wait, the restaurant is always very clean and well lit, and smells sooooo delicious, so it's no big deal. My only complaint is that they use styrofoam containers, and the dishes with a lot of sauce always seem to leak in transit. But that's a pretty minor problem, so I definitely recommend this place if you want Chinese food in Arlington. read more

Not impressed. I had read the great reviews on here, and ordered the complete dinner of sweet and sour chicken for delivery, with soup, an egg roll and a chicken wing. We called a 630pm on a week night and the wait time was 45min - no problem. But when the food arrived it was deconstructed sweet n sour chicken. The battered chicken was in one box, with the runny sweet n sour in a pot, with one measly piece of pineapple, 2 pieces of green bell pepper and 3 pieces of onions. I give them, the chicken was good quality chicken breast. But this is not the sweet n sour I have come to love. I want my chicken tossed in the sauce with ample pineapple, peppers and onions included. I will give this place another try but I will stay far away from the sweet n sour. We never order chinese delivery, but thought we'd branch out. After reading the review on this place we went ahead and ordered. We got the General Tso Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken, steamed dumplings and Broccoli with garlic sauce. Let's start with the good: The general Tso chicken my husband ordered was pretty good. I had the wonton soup and it was pretty tasty as well. The Broccoli with garlic sauce was pretty tasty. Had a nice little spicy kick to it. AND the Bad: The Sweet and Sour chicken was really bad... the chicken itself was okay, but the sauce was inedible. It has no taste, just luke warm red goo (and THATS what makes the entire dish!). The Steamed dumplings were overcooked, smashed all together and falling apart. I agree the fried rice was nothing more than rice, fried with soy sauce. No egg, no veggies. Overall pretty disappointed. We will not be ordering from here again. read more

I'm starting to think some people just dont know what the hell good food is. 4 stars? 5 stars? Really??!?!?!? Maybe its because I ordered delivery after 8pm (I called around 8:10). I ordered General Tso Chicken with fried rice which is on their chefs specialty menu. The food arrived in about 20 minutes and it actually smelled great. Once I tasted it, the first thing that hit my pallet was the old ass grease it was fried in. General Tso would be disappointed. Also, the cuts of meat in this dish are already lower cost dark meat chicken. How could they lessen this even more? I felt like I was eating some very cheap and kind of nasty cuts of chicken. It simply did not taste like any dark meat chicken I've ever had (except for low quality Chinese food places I've had in the past). I do have to say that I have ordered from them once before. It wasn't as late and the food tasted much better. I would have ranked it a 3.5 if I would have reviewed it back then. My advice is to find something better in your area if its getting late. read more
