It's Panda Express, but better: fresh and with an elegant ambience. However, I've experienced some inconsistency with the drinks and food. The service is good though. You can order takeout through the app, as they have a rewards program - but the email notifications are somewhat shoddily coded. I emailed corporate about a security complaint in January 2023, and I haven't heard back. DRINKS ORDERED - Cherry Blossom ($13). Had a sip of my friend's. The raspberry drink base was sweet and good, but it seemed like they forgot the alcohol part. - Ginjo, Omachi Jewel Brocade ($12 glass). Tasty cold sake with a citrus scent, clear and light flavor. - Mai Tai ($13). Strong, sweet, and fresh tasting fruit juices. Excellent! - Must Have Mule ($13). The ginger beer base tasted great, but the drink was weak in terms of alcohol. STARTERS ORDERED - Vegetable Egg Rolls ($9 - 4 pcs). The filling was gingery, fresh and saucy. In contrast to your typical congealed fast food wrapper, Panda Inn's was crispy on the outside with discernible layers. - Crab Wontons ($11 - 4 pcs). The quality was more delicate, with a thin wrapper. I was surprised to find large chunks of real crab meat, although there was far more cream cheese than crab inside. MAINS ORDERED Portions are massive, which justifies the price. Everything I've had was the regular size. The larger "Family" portion could probably feed a family of 4 with just one dish. - Orange Chicken. Literally Panda Express orange chicken but better, as the breading is fresh. The baby corn was a welcome source of fiber, but not the most exciting. - Phoenix Chicken ($19). Thinly sliced white meat chicken that was not overcooked and stayed very crispy throughout the meal. The sauce was spicier than the orange chicken, and slightly less sweet. I liked the plain broccoli on the side, which was cooked but still crunchy. - Honey Walnut Shrimp ($25). Crispy and sweet. A fresh version of the standard dish with plump and large shrimp. - Lo-Mein with choice of pork ($18). This was actually disappointing. The noodles were soft and overcooked. I was surprised to see char siu bbq pork, and I wouldn't have minded if it hadn't tasted lackluster. - Spicy Eggplant & Tofu ($16). The eggplant was soft and cooked through, and its skin retained a vibrant purple color. The tofu was standard. There was also bell pepper and basil, but the brown sauce was not like "three cups" seasoning. At the end of the meal, everyone gets a white chocolate dipped fortune cookie wrapped in colorful foil. I love this place. Food. Drinks. And the whole restaurant is perfect. And I been coming here for years.. The only thing I suggest for the resturant to look and adjust is that they need to keep an eye on there staff. While me and my family are eating and enjoying. I don't think it's necessary for employees to come and vacuum around the empty tables.. kind of gives off like wanting us to leave. That's the reason I out a 3 star review.. you don't do that when ppl are sitting and enjoying there food.. but other then that it's a great and enjoyable place to have dinner with that family. I came here over the weekend with my family for my aunt's bday. It's been a while since we've been to a Panda Inn. We were greeted by our waitress, Mel. She made recommendations and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, fried rice and braised short ribs. We also got the dumplings and edamame for appetizers. Definitely recommend the dumplings (which Mel recommended to us) . The pork ones were delicious! Braised ribs were also very good as well as the shrimp. We definitely enjoyed our dining experience there. Mel went above and beyond to make sure everything was great. She carefully noted our allergies and made sure that everything we ordered and prepared correctly. She was very attentive, understanding and an excellent waitress. We came with a large party to celebrate my mom's birthday. She has a rewards account which granted her a free dumplings appetizer for her birthday and when we showed the server, they made up every excuse as to why she couldn't get the free appetizer despite it being loaded in her rewards account which we could clearly see in the app. It even worked when redeeming for pickup when ordering through the app but they claimed she couldn't not use it. You lost a long time customer with your poor customer service skills. I've never seen anything like this. Don't offer something for someone's birthday and then deny them when they attempt to redeem it! read more

As a vegetarian, I was left confused by how things are run at this restaurant. I asked for tofu to be added to my veggie noodle and was happy to pay extra. Normally this place is great but not tonight! Either the kitchen did not have enough help or they didn't have enough servers. All of our food was like lukewarm - not hot at all! We were there at 4:45 and didn't get out until 6:30, which is much too long for 3 people to eat. We eat here at least 2 times a month and this was really a disappointment. She was absolutely delightful, helpful, friendly, and just incredible in many ways. A colleague of mine is always talking about Panda Inn with patients and how delicious it is I had to check it out. I originally wanted to check out the Pasadena location but is currently under construction, so we opted for the Glendale location, and it did not disappoint whatsoever. We arrived just in time for the lunch specials, they had such a great lunch selection to choose from, I was a tad bit surprised by that. The ambiance was so clean and nice, the setting of the restaurant reminded me of a scene from the movie The Rush Hour LOL!! We got there about 1:20pm on a Saturday and it wasn't crowded. There were plenty of empty tables. The place is quite cozy and medium size. I went here about 15 years ago and my kid convinced me that they changed their menu since that time so I gave it another try. The waiter was friendly, attentive and got our food rather quickly. My favorite dish was the shrimp and walnut. I also ordered the eggplant and tofu which the tofu was over cooked and dry. This dish tasted better from Panda Express. The orange chicken tasted like there was a special ingredient in there that made it taste weird to me but my kids liked it. The fried rice was clean and not oily so that was a good dish. My kid ordered the shrimp and noodle which the shrimp was very salty and the noodles were bland but she loved it. It was nice that they left a tall glass bottle of water for us. They also served our dishes with white rice. Oh, the white chocolate covered fortune cookies were super yummy. Overall, the service was great and the food was good. Honestly, I'm not going pay almost $20 a plate in the future unless the food is exceptional. read more

We have been going to Panda Inn since they re-opened. This is one of my son's favorite spot. He loves their lemon chicken and their egg & corn soup. The chicken is crispy and delightfully delicious! I normally order their chicken with eggplant which is pretty fantabulous! We like that you're not seated so close to other tables. The service is always great so we are always happy to return. In summery, the food tasted significantly worse than their big brother Panda Express. Price was astronomical, one dish will get you 2-3 combo plates at any Chinese food place, and with the 1.5 hr wait for a table and additional 1 hr to get any food on the table, I don't see ANY reason to ever come here, just go to Panda Express. The phoenix chicken came highly recommended by yelpers but it was so crunchy and painful on my mouth and jaw to eat that we had to send it back, didn't taste bad it just felt like eating rocks, the Mongolian beef had a lot of meat which is good but it was missing any texture, like eating meat soup, the lo mein was all sog as well, nothing like chow mein, why change something that's incredibly good? To charge $20 instead of 3? The interior design (rug, wall deco, table covers, lighting, theme, waiting room) felt confusing and a mess, like an old Denny's with a touch of steakhouse, and a cafeteria. Didn't feel like a fine dining establishment like the name and prices suggest. I was expecting way more from this place, I mean at least better than Express if the price is going to be 5x. The egg rolls were mushy, the braised green beans and the brown rice were flavorless/overcooked/mushy, and the lo mein was a bit mushy, too. Did the chef have an off night? The walnut shrimp was good, and the kung pao chicken was fine, but not up to their usuai standard. Unbelievable. I sit down next to a table with a few kids. One of the children is playing games on his iPad at FULL volume. No headphones, nothing. Clearly irritating myself and another table. The Six P's to success: Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor performance. Whoever managed, or mismanaged, Christmas Eve surely failed. Not only was the service slow and all their "time updates" way off, the food was awful. As if they lost a couple of Chefs before dinner. What a horrible Christmas Eve experience. Been going for years since opening of the original way back when and was excited when they reopened after remodel... so 1-star is probably way harsh and will change once I go back to visit when things are "'normal". Panda Inn is easily my favorite restaurant in LA. I came in for my birthday and I got the Panda Beef and Sweet and Sour Chicken - so incredibly crispy and perfect. Our server Danny made my day. He was super attentive, packed us extra rice and a to go drink with no extra charge, and even threw in some fortune cookies for the road which are my favorite with their white chocolate. Very poor experience tonight - ordered 3 entrees to go. #1) Asked for no cashews in one order (due to an allergy which I mentioned numerous times over the phone). At pickup, host mentioned there was no cashews, but when I came home, dish was FULL of cashews. Had to throw it away. #2) Ordered a chicken low mein, but apparently they didn't put any chicken in there either. Just noodles and greens. #3) Ordered white rice, but they gave brown rice. We were just reminiscing about our dinners here back in 2000, and discovered the were closed due to expanding and remodeling. The food was just as delicious as it was when we were in high school.
