Food was decent, you can taste MSG and would linger on your palate for a while after consuming the food. Not something I would crave anytime soon. The price for the "weekend" was $12.99 (this is how listed on the receipt) which is misleading from what's marked on the window advertising $9.89. FOOD POISONING: my son & I ordered takeout here on Saturday 06/01. This was the only meal we had that day. We got home & 3 hours after finishing our food I had diarrhea & sharp stomach pains. Later that night, my 19 month old son woke up out of his sleep & threw up all the noodles he ate. He threw up about a total of 5 times. The next morning I woke up & immediately started throwing up. Not only did I have a sick child, I was still trying to take care of myself. My entire body is still in pain. I pray nobody has to go through what we went through. Quiet place, just a couple of employees and a few customers on a drizzly night between Christmas and NYE. Service was quick and friendly, the food came out steaming hot. Good value for the money. You get to choose your ingredients off of a menu, then it is prepared and brought back to you. Both of us got the basic plate. Mine had glass noodles,hers had rice and both were good. Glass noodles will not be my choice next time thought. Meat was cooked just right. The one star deduction was for the side of egg rolls. I know that dish is inherently greasy but I had to squeeze grease out of it before trying to eat it. It was literally dripping grease down my hand when I picked it up. My wife had a hankering for Mongolian BBQ, but the place in Costa Mesa that we had intended to visit did not open until 12:30 PM. A quick yelp search revealed this place in the area. When we got there, there was a parking space right in front. Because we were the first customers in there, we were a little suspicious. Most Mongolian barbecue places allow you to go directly to the buffet and scoop out your own ingredients. Not this place. Perhaps it was because of Covid restrictions but the waitress handed us a menu, from which we were to select the ingredients we wanted on our plates. From our seats, we were able to crane our necks to watch our food being cooked. It was not the same as standing at the counter, watching your food being cooked and seeing the ingredients you selected on the grill. I do not think the cook received as many tips as he did perhaps in the past. We did not put money in his tip jar. We left the tip on our bill. The food was good. The waitress served our food, not on plates, but in large take out plates with lids. We were allowed to go to the condiment bar and take whatever condiments we liked, including hot sauces and sesame seeds. We ended up taking some of our food home. The restaurant is in a strip mall, but there is ample parking. Public restrooms are available. There are pet turtles over by the restroom entrance. read more

I've been coming to this restaurant for a couple years now and it's consistently been a good experience. I don't eat in so I'm only reviewing my experience with the food itself and take out. I'm consistently impressed with the portions without being overpriced. Seems like everyone else keeps raising the prices and taking things away, but that isn't the case here. My order has been correct every time and cooked well. Honestly I always have enough for 2 days of meals. Cashiers are always nice and the stamp cards are neat because eventually you earn rewards. We have been here a few times food was amazing. We haven't been there in awhile decided to dine out and eat something good but it was not an appetizing at all. First off the fountain drink machine was dripping nasty gooey slop from the spout and the soda tasted awful. The morning after eating here, I started with severe stomach cramping and without going into to too much detail, I believe I have salmonella poisoning. While eating my food, I noticed some of the chicken did not look fully cooked so I pushed it all to the side and only ate the beef. Clearly, I should have sent it back and not eaten at all. Since you don't serve yourself, I don't know what temperature the meat was sitting out at and we were the only people in the place so who knows how long it was out for. First time since COVID and things have really changed! There is no more all you can eat. That was the best part of this restaurant. Now, you have to choose your items by circling on a piece of paper. They also have options for pre-made dishes. They still serve you out of plastic containers even though you are dining inside. I ordered through Uber Eats. The food is AMAZING. I highly recommend the meat wontons. I didn't get a picture because I ate them so quickly. The portion sizes was far more than I expected as well. The noodles here are pretty good. They're made fresh and piping hot. I ordered noodles in hoisin sauce. Mine was a custom bowl with chicken, beef, and pork with sides of tofu, broccoli, mushrooms, and bok choi. I'd come here again. The host was nice and suggested we try the different sauces. Ordering was easy and the utensils and condiments were arranged in a way that prevented germ transmission. We ate at dinner. The food was piping/steaming hot. I'm used to great khan's in the mall, which is actually amazing and this fell short of that. Just something missing from the sauce. A great local Mongolian bbq, Panda is located in East Orange. The menu offers both all you can eat an one bowl meals. For a couple dollars more, I always go with the AYCE meal. Once seated, you can order you drinks and then go grab a bowl, walk along the counter, and begin to fill it to your liking. You start with you choice of noodles. There are both glass and lo mein available. Move a few steps to the right and you find plenty of meats; e.g. beef, lamb, pork and chicken. Finally, stack on lots of vegetables; celery, carrots, broccoli, onions, mushrooms, water chestnuts...the list goes on and on. All of the choices looked very fresh and appetizing. At the end of the food items, are a trays of many sauces. You can pick a basic sauce like hoison or teriyaki and then top it with an extra sauce such as garlic or green onion. My favorite part, is watching the chefs, stir up you custom concoction over the large bbq top. It's a small mom and pop restaurant that has a pretty clean interior. Honestly, the bathroom smelled pretty bad, so it was in need of some cleaning. Service was pretty slow! Ok, on to the fun part: the food!! I built the bowl with a bunch of veggies and beef. This place is not what you expect, if you are familiar with the "Mongolian BBQ" format. Most Mongolian BBQ spots have a sort of serve-yourself "meat and ingredient" bar where the customer walks along and loads their bowl with raw ingredients (including noodles, thinly sliced frozen meats and loads of different vegetables). Then you put whatever combination of sauce you like on it and hand it to the cook who is working the grill... there are famous Mongolian BBQ places in Westwood by UCLA and in Hermosa Beach on Sepulveda - and I am sure many other locations It looks like this place USED to be the normal Mongolian BBQ format.. but for some reason, it is no longer what you would expect... you no longer get to walk along, look at the options.. and pick what you want and load your bowl... Now there is a paper "menu options" that you circle what you want (and if you want more than a couple of ingredients, there is an $$ upcharge). you get to pick one protein from the ~7 options (some are more expensive upcharges), only 3 veggies (of the 20 options) - any more than 3 is more money like a pizza place... you get the idea. The traditional Mongolian BBQ model was appealing because the guest got to walk along and look at the options... and have fun "building" what they wanted in whatever combination and quantities they wanted - and then could hand it to the cook and watch the "theater" of cooking. For some reason, these owners have chosen to go a different direction and it is more like a sandwich place where they give you an "options" sheet and a pencil and you circle the type of bread, the type of meat, which condiments you want.. and then they make it for you behind the scenes. Its not to say that this format is "bad" - it is just not what many folks would be familiar with, given the format of "Mongolian BBQ" restaurants. Also, for some reason, they have some small pet turtles in a plastic bin next to the fountain drinks. The smell of the turtles is horrible - it made my wife gag. She will never go back. Also, there was no offer of those wonderful sesame roll things that Mongolian BBQ places always have? Anyhow - aside from the turtle smell, the food was "good." But not differentiated from other Asian stir-fry restaurants. This format is not really the Mongolian BBQ model that so many of us love! They have all of the old equipment to do the traditional Mongolian BBQ structure - hopefully they reconsider and return to the normal model. read more

My wife and I went there a week ago. Has the ownership changed? We don't know for sure but the meal quantity and quality has gone down. From the printed menu we ordered our usual meat and vegetable combos with rice, and what we got was much smaller quantity of meat and vegetables over a thick bed of rice. In the past, rice always came on the side. This must be their answer to shrinkflation. Sad but I don't think we will be dining there any more.
