I went through the steps of getting everything I wanted in the bowl. I told the cashier then the manager that if they deny the water, they won't get a dime from me. Manager said it was the owner and blamed me for not knowing their policy for 2 years to which I responded I've never been to this location. The manager was snippy about it. She wouldn't give her name or the owner's name or email and said just email CAVA in general. Ultimately, I ended up at El Gran Pollo next door paid full price of almost $16 instead of about $6 at CAVA (as I had a half off promo), which I'll get around to writing a 3-star review of tomorrow. Incredibly, they were almost going to deny the water, but they didn't when I explained what CAVA did, he gave me a courtesy bottle of water.

We came in for a nice breakfast early in the morning (literally 5 tables of customers - including us). The waitress gave us a booth and 10 minutes later decided to come back for our drinks so we ordered our food as well considering how slow she was working. After disappearing for another 5-10 minutes we still don't have our drinks and by now our food is probably about ready. So I get up and explain to the kitchen manager (Julian) that we don't even know where our waitress is and she is out OFO (military term) and asked if we could get our coffee. He huffs and puffs because that's not his job but agrees. I sit down thinking all is good. He comes with the coffee and fills up my wife's coffee and I tell him that he doesn't have to pour it; I can do it and thanked him. He then, in a condescending tone, lectures us on "good vibes" and this is a "good vibe place so refrain from insulting the wait staff" and continues his lecture. Seriously? At this point I go thru our convo and at no point did I insult her other than to say she's no where in the building and yes she was OFO because she wasn't doing her job after waiting a decent amount of time before saying anything. So now I'm upset and we decide that's it, we are leaving. On the way out I see the manager that we talked to as we walked in and explained the situation as Julian tried to come up and hear what I said. So I literally spelled out all the facts and yes I did say OFO but did not insult anyone but merely described her lack of service. That particular manager apologies and Julian huffed and walked back to the kitchen after the facts and timelines were laid out. I told the manger that we will not come back especially when there are other First Watch restaurants nearby. So let me get this straight, I'm expected to pay what we have to pay (this place is a little pricier) for our meals then tip 20% for subpar service after waiting forever and get a lecture from Julian who's upset because I described poor service in a more direct tone. As I said, the expectation is to provide reasonable service in a timely manner then you may get 20% but 20% of my hard earned money for these "good vibes" is not where I'm spending my money.

We had a #17 ($18.65), which was a Mike's Famous Philly that normally comes with grilled onions, peppers & white American cheese. We asked for ours to have just the meat, provolone and mayo. I wish I had thought to say light mayo, because it had way too much on the sub. The rolls were soft, but a lot of bread. The other sub we ordered was a #13 ($17.95) which was The Original Italian, which came with provolone, ham, prosciuttini, cappacuolo, salami, and pepperoni - then they added lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. This sub was loaded with meat and cheese. The subs are not inexpensive - the minis run about $7.45, regular $10.25, and giant $17.95 (depending on what sub you order).
