I went into Panera Bread, on Stevens Creek Blvd., in Cupertino, the other day. I'm 72-years-old. I was very impressed by how welcoming and customer-service oriented the young man who helped me was. He was/is a cashier. His name is Pat. He has not been working there for very long. I let him know he's doing an excellent job, very helpful, pleasant and, again, welcoming. I asked to speak with his supervisor/manager to let the supervisor/manager know of the really nice service Pat provides. His supervisor, whose name was/is AJ, came. He was equally courteous, friendly and very customer-service oriented. I have to say that AJ trains and orients his crew(s) to provide flawless customer service. First off, ordering through the Panera app is really convenient! I ordered and parked in one of the curbside pickup spots and an employee brought it out. That process was fast and seamless! However, the food quality is another story. When I dine in (before covid), I usually get the green goddess cobb salad and it is great! However, I got takeout a couple days ago and I think the quality has gone down a lot. The salad dressing was in a plastic container, but the cap had curdled dressing stuck to the ceiling of it while the dressing was watery and tasteless. Additionally, they used to be generous with the avocado, but now it was only enough to cover a spoonful. The portion size was unbelievably skimpy, and the salad was extremely cold, as if it had just been taken out of the refrigerator. Pre Covid Review - Panera is a decent study spot when it's not busy and you can get a table. There are only a few tables near outlets so you have to be strategic when studying there. Rude staff and unprofessional store operations. 1. Ordered for curb side; no one showed up for over 20 minutes although the app said order was ready. Went in to enquire and the order was sitting behind counter. Apparently the person who was suppose to get it out was called over for another task and he just left the order on checkout counter instead of bringing it out. The soup was cold; food was cold. 2. Another instance: ordered food. They got the order wrong and missed a couple of sides. We started to eat. The wife went to delivery counter to request for missing items. The chef rudely said "u got apples on side; can u check". I went thereafter and told again that apples were with group soup; the sandwiches had baguette on the side. She kept arguing. And then started saying. No need to be rude. I didn't say anything rude to her at all. The manager comes storming from around the corner and slammed a baguette in a paper bag and said extremely rudely that just give it to him. As if she was doing me a favor. This Panera Bread is just like any other of their chain restaurants. Except this one is packed, like SUPER PACKED. I'm sure its because there are a bunch of businesses nearby, as well as students from De Anza and other school districts. ALSo, the parking is a BIIIIITTTCHHH. They used to have Bombay Oven next door and you could also use that parking lot, but now they have this teeny tiny parking lot behind the store... which does not sustain the number of people going into this Panera.. which means you gotta park waaaaaay farther down or if you wanne be a badass, park in the business parking spaces.... BUT yeah lol good thing this place has the nicest outdoor patio to sit, eat, and chill at. THe waitresses and servers do not rush you whatsoever. they let you keep doin yo thaaang. Food is just like any Panera. I usually get the you pick two. Either a fuji apple salad or sandwich/panini paired with either the tomato bisque or french onion soup. I have posted about this location before. This is a downgrade. I go there daily. I have a coffee subscription called sip club. It is an excellent deal. I like their coffee so I should be a happy camper. The problem is their service at best of times is poor to mediocre I order using their app. About 75% of the time they screw up. Today they transformed their service from poor to terrible. Not only was my coffee cup not available for me as they stated, I had to wait 10 minutes for someone to hand me a cup. I am not saying avoid this site, just beware of their service. I walked up to the counter to order. I know that the cashier saw me because she looked right at me. Then without a word, she walked away. Rude much? She should have said "excuse me, I'll be right back," or something to that effect. So I went to the next cashier. I told her what had happened and this one had nothing to say. The customer service from these cashiers is terrible. I should have just left, but I was starving and needed to eat something before I fainted. I ordered the power almond quinoa oatmeal, thinking that wouldn't take too long and it sounded pretty healthy. I paid and received one of those buzzer things. It took more than 10 minutes to get my oatmeal. I honestly don't think they were cooking it from scratch. Places like this usually have steel cut oats already cooked and sitting in a pot. I was getting hangrier and hangrier by the minute. The only reason I didn't give this place one star was that the man who gave me my oatmeal was really nice. My oatmeal wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. It was bland and a little on the dry side - it needed some milk and honey, or some brown sugar. It tasted healthy though. I'm not a huge fan of Panera Bread in general. But I will never come back to this location again. They need to train their cashiers to have some manners and have better customer service. read more

My friends love coming here, so I decided to check it out myself. I honestly think I just ordered the wrong thing. Most of them get salads and LOVE it. SO this review is for a combo meal of soup and 1/2 sandwich. I got the asiago steak sandwich with broccoli cheddar soup. Also came with a bag of plain chips (similar to Lays). I was really expecting a lot from the sandwich.. it sounded amazing! The steak, the HORSERADISH.. I was really excited. Also, I'm a huge fan of sandwich and soup combos so I couldn't wait to try out a combo from Panera. When it arrived. I was SO.. so... disappointed..... the sandwich was so BLAND. The size was decent, although it wasn't enough to fill me up even with the soup and side of chips. I would have let the size of the sandwich slide if it was actually yummy. However, it just wasn't good :( I felt like I wasn't eating anything.. the sandwich was so tasteless. The soup.. it was good! Panera Bread has some very tasty food. Their bread is really very good. However, they totally skimp on the meat. My past two times there - I had a steak and white cheddar sandwich. The bread was good, but there was seriously like one 4 X 2 inch piece of steak on it. It was good steak. Soft. But I felt gypped. The other time I had an almond chicken salad sandwich. Again, bread was food. I think it was sourdough or focaccia. I don't really know my breads. But there was tons of green lettuce on it, two thick slices of tomato, and at best 2 tablespoons of chicken salad. Slopped into the middle. So the edges were all bread and lettuce. I am going to give them one more chance. The next sandwich I order, I am going to ask them (nicely) to put enough meat on it so I can taste it! The internet is limited during peak hours, but I could always get a table for me and my laptop while I was studying for the bar or just getting some work done. The service is consistently great and efficient. I like the buzzers that they give you b/c this location is sprawled out and you can sit outside. There is plenty of seating and benches as well. And Peet's is right next door too. I had the strawberry poppyseed salad and it was more of a sweet fruit salad, more than a salad, which was nice anyway. It was fresh! The vinaigrette was good and they had blueberries, canned pineapple and mandarin oranges, strawberries and poppyseed. I ordered it with chicken and it was ok. Not so clean cut, a little stringy, but it was still good. The french onion soup is pretty good, but I prefer mine a little thicker. The baguette was good. BF liked the soup and salad too. Paninis are good here. I like how they have a microwave at your disposal near the coffee condiments. They will toast your bagel or what not for you. They will cut your bread for you. Sometimes they run out of the good pastries and bagels, esp on Saturday, so you should get there earlier. Their iced tea is ok. They coffee is pretty good. I came here for lunch and to meet a friend during break from school. It was surprisingly not crowded which I like because there's usually a line and no tables to sit at. I always opt for the Pick 2 combo and got the Creamy Tomato & Bacon Turkey Bravo. The soup is my favorite and it's a decent substitute to Nordstrom Bistro's Crab Bisque, I think I have fallen out of my Bacon Turkey Bravo phase however. The soup was creamy, fresh and a little bit chunky topped with cheesy croutons. Nice and heartwarming for a rainy day. The Bacon Turkey Bravo still delights me with their fresh and soft tomato bread and aioli sauce. Along with it's bacon and turkey it comes stacked with lettuce, tomato and gouda. After getting this sandwich time and again, it's wow factor has definitely declined. It was lacking in flavor so I had to add a bit of spicy brown mustard and it was dripping tomato juice as I ate it. Let's just say it was good, but not good enough to finish it. The order was incomplete and wrong, missing two items. She just started yelling at us that we were not supposed to pick it up yet as she has not checked it! It's quite large with several different seating areas, including space outside. This is good because there were a lot of people here already, but I was still able to find a table. I only stopped by because I happened to have a free pastry and needed a place to study. Unfortunately, I found out that they limit you to 30 minutes of free wifi during peak hours (11am-2pm) which just so happened to be when I was there. So I ended up having to leave and go elsewhere. In general Panera is a good option if you're craving some basic soup/salad/sandwiches, but you can definitely get better food elsewhere and possibly for better value too. I really, really like this Panera for a couple of reasons. First, location. Right on Stevens Creek Blvd near DeAnza, it makes for a great, central meeting spot for people coming from San Jose and from the North. Next, I think the staff is really competent. I've never waited that long to be helped, here, and I think it's because the staff keeps things moving quite briskly. This is a huge plus if I'm meeting someone, because it means I don't have to focus on getting food. Finally, I really, really like the layout of the space. There are lots of little nooks, booths, and tables to tuck yourself into when you want to have a quiet convo. If you want to be louder, sit in the middle of the space (which is kind of loud already). It's a good place to work, though. The one thing I don't like about this Panera is the very tight parking lot (why did they make the spaces so narrow?). If you can find a better place to park (on the side? in the Target lot?), please let me know. read more

I ask for a strawberry smoothie and what I drank was along the lines of maybe strawberry jam and yogurt. There was not a fruit to be seen. I also ordered a spinach quiche and ended up spitting that and my Asiago sandwich out. Just low quality food, even the cafe latte was watered down and flavorless. I remember 8 or so year ago when Panera was actually good and had a standard and now it looks like they are okay serving garbage. I collected my "food" and drink together and went to the front desk and told a lady who seemed to be running things that this food was not good and I couldn't eat it and she said," why are you telling me, what do you want me to do about it."
