I really enjoy coming to this Panera Bread -- the staff is always friendly, the space is clean, and the food and drinks are consistently solid. It's a great location overall. That said, I wanted to share a suggestion that I truly believe would benefit both Panera and the local community: please consider opening at 7AM instead of 8AM. This Panera is directly across from the Island Park LIRR station, which means there's a built-in crowd of morning commuters looking for a quick coffee, breakfast sandwich, or their daily caffeine fix. But by the time Panera opens, most of those customers are already gone -- many of them having stopped at the Starbucks just down the block, which opens earlier and is always busy at that hour. As a Sip Club member, I'd love to be able to swing by on my way to work and grab my coffee without needing to detour or wait for a later opening. I know several others who feel the same -- commuters who would 100% choose Panera if the hours aligned better with the train/work schedule. Panera already offers a great product. Opening just one hour earlier could unlock a whole new wave of consistent, loyal morning customers who are currently taking their business elsewhere simply because of timing. Definitely disappointed with my $17 toasted Italiano sandwhich. Maybe need to hire new staffs or teach them how to make them correctly. How are you going to stack the ham slices like in the picture? I used to meet here with a morning breakfast group prior to covid 19. The staff was always friendly, polite, and energetic even at 7 and 8 in the morning. I appreciated the staff's positivity to start those days. It was one of the few places that I was a regular and I appreciated them knowing my order along with some of my quirky requests. They usually had hot water ready and offered to heat up water if the water from the coffee bar wasn't hot enough for me. The space is always clean and quite spacious. Service here has really gone down. I know they get paid pocket change but it wasn't even busy and it took 10 minutes for someone to come to the register. I'd ordered a napa almond chicken salad, extra chicken with avocado mixed greens instead of lettuce and whole grain bread. The avocado didn't come and i had to wait 5 minutes for them to get it to me. it was lettuce and not mixed greens but i just ate it cause i was hungry. i dont even know if they put extra chicken. the sandwich wasn't even cut and they gave me a knife instead of cutting it themselves. And finally I'd asked if this was sour bread or whole grain they said whole grain. it took him a minute. the guy who keeps saying "_____ your order is ready." Not sure why there are several bad reviews for this location. It's actually one of the better Panera's. I have only been here for breakfast so my review is based on weekday morning visits. The staff is always friendly and efficient. They are very patient for early morning. Restaurant is always clean. Serving size of the breakfast items are very good. I am a big fan of Panera in Bellmore and Rockville Centre. I was closer today to the Panera in Island Park, I have been there a few times, so I decided to go there with my daughter. They got my sandwich order incorrect, never apologized, gave me a new sandwich with an attitude. My daughter ordered a pick two, one item being the Caesar salad. The portion was so tiny it was ridiculous. When I questioned the same worker, I got the same attitude and she was not going to add lettuce to the salad/ she said the salad is measured and basically too bad. Where I come from, if you want to keep a customer, you apologize when you make a mistake and add a few pieces of lettuce to a salad to appease the customer. The prices at Panera are high so when the portions are so time it's really aggravating. I will never frequent this Panera again. read more

HMMM Not sure why this hasn't received more stars. It's a Panera... pretty basic, cookie cutter meal. I like their Green Goddess salad when I have the urge and it's tasty. On a cold night, grilled cheese and tomato soup! My favorite thing is to do is order online on my way home and then run in and pick it up. I place a order online for delivery and waited over a hour and still didn't have no food. I called and i was placed on hold for 5min to be told that my order was still there. This is very disappointing and poor customer service having to wait over a 1hr and half for a soup and a salad. Please don't order online. P. S. What I like the most about this Panera are two things: 1) customers are made to feel welcome to relax, eat, sip, and stay awhile. That makes for loyalty. Two sets of people told us that they come on every Tuesday and knit, crochet, etc. while they enjoy their meal, the other group said they play Mah Jongg for a few hours every week. Both groups tucked away in areas that don't distract other diners. Number two on my list is that Panera, as a company policy of consciousness, donates their foods to soup kitchens. That, too makes for loyalty. Their "MyPanera" card is a good option; a nice, incentive card that offers discounts and freebies. A friend of mine and I sat with cups of warming tea and enjoyed the warm wood and upholstered chairs, the urban chic lighting, and the colorful artwork adorning the walls. Staff is ultra welcoming, there is a good selection of breads and bakery items, sandwiches, soups, teas, and coffees. Sandwiches and soups could use a bit less salt for my sensitive palate and other folks' heart health. Otherwise, this is a good place to sit awhile and enjoy your company, the Panera company, and your meal! read more

This place looks clean but it is not! They clean the tables and booths with the same dirty rag one table at a time. Spreading the filth everywhere. And the back of the booths stink to high heaven! Very nice atmosphere to hang with friends and play games. There were three tables around us with different games going. It was nice to see. Another customer had his lap top plugged in and was working from his table. I had the Thai chicken salad a personal favorite. So delicious. Panera Bread is a hit or miss for me. Sometimes I go to a Panera Bread and the cashier is uninterested rushes me to order even if there's no line behind me. But the Panera Bread in Island Park has never let me down. They are understanding, don't rush your order, and as of yet they've always gotten the order right. I genuinely feel bad giving a 1 star review, because I live close, and absolutely love the food and service. What I do not like is the group of older women who are constantly playing mah jong in the establishment, while spending next to no money. I have seen this group of people many times in the past, and really never payed them much attention, because I am the type of individual that keeps to themself. BUT, I was quite tired and extremely hung over this morning, while enjoying my egg soufflé and tea, and apparently my wife and I were sitting at the table where these women play. I understand that we are creatures of habit and like the same thing over and over, but my wife and I were sitting there first, and I literally had to eat my breakfast with an old ladies ass in my face. I'm not joking, she actually stuck her ass about 6 inches from my face and just stood there, making it incredibly awkward. She kept giving us funny looks and it really ruined my entire dining experience. Once we left she used our table as a coat hangar/closet essentially and it really bothered me that my wife and I could not eat in peace despite paying upwards of 30$ for breakfast. I know it's a public space but please tell these women to play their board games elsewhere so the paying customers don't have to feel uncomfortable. This Panera is clean, quiet, and the employees are pleasant. However, almost every time I frequent this location they are "OUT" of an item. I gave them many chances over the past year and it is frustrating to hear the same response over and over again. Along with them being "OUT" of items the pastry selection is "SAD" at best. Stopped by for soup and a bread after a dental visit looking for comfort food. When I picked up the order at the counter I realized that the bread I ordered and paid for was not what I expected. It was a slice of bread so I asked the guy behind the counter and as he talked down to me as he patted my bread with his glove!! Ugh! I was so mad at the service and the entire order. Very sloppy servings . My soup bowl was filled half way . You think for the price you pay they would bring your food out with courtesy not feel like you're in a lunch room! I love Panera, its a healthy alternative to other fast food restaurants. But this location always gets my order when I place a order for pick up. They either have me waiting for 10 minutes past my pick up time or my order is either incomplete or entirely wrong. Terrible service. There is a Hispanic man that works mornings in the Island Park store that is terrible at customer service. He's either talking Spanish to other workers (even the female manager) and doesn't make eye contact with us customers. And I usually grab lunch with my coworkers and they will pick it up and bring it back to our job so I don't even have a chance to bring it back to get the right order. Several times I have tried calling the location to complain and they NEVER answer the phone! It sends you to the managers voicemail and they never call you back!
