I placed a large catering order three weeks prior to the event. My credit card company emailed to verify that it was a legitimate charge and I responded immediately, But, I kept getting notices from Panera that the payment method was unsuccessful. Each time (more than 6) I called both the La Verne Panera location and the Panera central number and was told the order was fine and not to worry. A female manager in La Verne assured me she would call if there was a problem. The night before the event, I called the La Verne store again and was told all was well. The morning of the event, I received an email indicating that the order had been cancelled. I immediately called the central line and they called the La Verne store and I was AGAIN told everything was fine. However, 5 hours later, the order was not delivered at the appointed time so, I again called the store and was told by a male manager that the order was cancelled. Each time I tried to relay the conversations of the past 3 weeks, he interrupted me so I asked him to be quiet and hear what I had to say. He hung up on me. I get that everyone is understaffed. I get that when I called the last time it was noon and they were busy. BUT, I had 25 students waiting for a lunch that never materialized despite the hours I spent calling, waiting on hold to speak to a real human, etc. This is unacceptable. I will not use Panera at any location for catering in the future and I highly recommend you also look elsewhere. read more

This place serves great sandwiches, i always get the Chipotle chicken and it taste delicious! they also have freshly made bread and pastries. I eat at this place at least once a week and have by far been satisfied. also their pickles are very good and crunchy. My coworker and I stop by maybe every two weeks for breakfast and our last stop, which a few days ago they were all out of the egg soufflés. Those are big breakfast items so I am not sure how there were none made at 8:30 in the morning. I can understand why Panera Bread is hyped up! Although my friend and I came here about 10 minutes before they closed the workers still served very well. They did not look upset or give us attitude. They did not rush us. We were able to take our time ordering and eating our food. I would say the customer service was great! I got the pick 2 deal. My first pick was the turkey, avocado, blt panini sandwich. It was a bit difficult to eat. They didn't spread everything within the sandwich evenly, but however, the avocados were bright, perfectly ripe, and fresh. The chicken was very juicy and tender. My second pick was the roasted turkey cranberry flatbread. I preferred this one of my sandwich. The flatbread was very juicy as well because of the turkey and cranberry. I am very disappointed with this Panera! It does not live up to the name! Wednesday before thanksgiving I ordered 2 dozen bagels and when my assistant went to pick up the bagels at 6:15am they had them in a plastic bag tied and they got all sweaty and gross! I called the manager that night at 9pm and he apologized. The manager said they would have a replacement order for me and that I could pick it up on Monday at 6:15am. First off, we walked in and Said hi to Meagan. Was ignored so my boyfriend said hi! How ya doin? She looks up and says tired..ok, we get it.. We walk to the register and Jessica was taking our order. I have to say ZERO personality. The girl tells us the cookie has been sitting out all day so my boyfriend makes a joke saying oh so it's half off! Then Jessica rolls her eyes..ok ok, bad joke I guess? We get seated and it was literally a freezer in there..I think they do that at the end of the night to rush people out. I had ordered an apple with my meal so after freezing my you know what, an apple just didn't sound good so I went up to Jessica and said, is it ok if I change the apple to chips? She looked at me, rolled her eyes and in a rude tone said ..did they bring your meals already? I said no they did not. She walks off.. I go back to my seat then Meagan comes up with a broom right dab next to our table and accidentally brushes my boyfriends foot with the broom. My point is that she was THAT close and all this stuff from the carpet was flying into our food. Out of all the places she could clean, she picks right next to us as we are eating. Then she starts wiping tables off with her bare hands. Then she brings a vacuum out and we both look around and there is filth and food all over the floor in another section of the dining room and she chooses the area right next to us. I honestly think she was trying to run us out and they were not closed! Surprisingly the bathroom was clean and whoever made our meals did a great job and that's why they got two stars! But I can see why this place got terrible reviews. Filthy, impersonal and unfriendly! If you hate your job that much, then find one you can enjoy because if you're huffing and puffing because you have to go change an order from an apple to chips or the fact that you have to clean, how are you going to survive in the real word as you get older and are not in your early 20s anymore! We were very disappointed to say the least and will not return to this location. I've visited this location three times since they've opened. Each time; I've had a negative experience. I stopped by on Sunday because my daughter wanted their Mac & Cheese. It was 11:00 am and they were out of Mac & Cheese for the day. It's a convenient location due to the drive thru, especially if you're on the go. However, expect to be waiting for a very long time. All three times I waited a minimum of twenty minutes. I was given incorrect change and when I pointed it out cashier was upset because she had to count her drawer. She shorted me ten dollars and was so rude after finding out she miscounted instead of being apologetic. I've placed an order via app in hopes of speeding up the process; I always double check my food and I was given their regular bread when I specified I wanted soft dinner rolls. It's standard Panera food, so hard to mess up, but the employees are quite rude. We came in a few minutes before closing (8pm, who knew), so I understand that they didn't want us to eat in the restaurant, but they basically kicked us out. It wouldn't have taken any more time to just politely explain that they were closing, instead of yelling at us across the restaurant that they were going to pack our dine-in order to go, so that we could leave. Rudeness came from multiple people. Just take a little more time to be polite. It's not that hard. She asked if I could go back to the store I did. Upon me entering there was a employee who seen me and she seemed to know who I was. With her hands firmly in her pockets she flagged the manager down with a nod of her head. I noticed she never took her hands out of her apron pockets when she noticed that I noticed she quickly left to the back of the store without removing her hands out of her pocket. Had a horrible experience at this Panera this evening. First we tried to order online and it would not accept are our gift card. After trying that several times, we tried calling and ordering by phone and after many rings it just disconnected. Then we tried selecting the phone option to talk to the manager...it also disconnected. I asked the asian cook behind the counter if my order was coming soon, she was rude and replied to me "I have a lot of orders I don't know when it will be ready". I told her I was out and wanted a refund. Female at counter "Danielle" was also rude in giving me a refund, she even shorted me on my refund a few dollars. Order a breakfast sandwich (bacon, egg on a brioche bun), once it arrived it was not a brioche bun the main reason I ordered the sandwich. So I decided to eat it anyway. Next the egg was supposed to be over easy, it was hard as a rock. So then I took it up to have them remake the sandwich and told them about both issues. They apologized and told me that's the only bread they had. It was a ciabatta bread I believe. If I was told that in the beginning, I would have gone a whole other route on what I ate. Then tells me they can put it on white bread, which worked for me. So they remade it and then comes out with sausage instead of bacon. At this point I just ate it and walked up to the manager to explain what happened. She just said sorry about that and walked away. I then got ridiculed for not knowing if we should serve our own drinks, we were told in a rude manner to throw the cups in the trash but all the other cups were left at the counter . I'm a life long Panera customer and have always enjoyed their healthier options to fast food. La Verne is the closest Panera to the town I recently moved to. I've been coming here for my regular Greek salad with pulled pork at least once a week. And at least once a week they get my order wrong. One time they leave out the olives, another time they leave out the onions, more than once they have left out the dressing. Why do I keep going back? Because it's the only one within 10 miles. However, this last visit has got to be my last because I just can't take the inconsistency anymore. This place is horrible at quality! I've tried to address the issue with management but they don't even answer their phones. I haven't found an email for corporate otherwise I would take the time to write an email since consistency of quality is such an issue. I had a very poor experience at Panera today. I ordered a mac and cheese, and got the chx caesar salad because they ran out of the asian salad dressing. A small serving of Mac and Cheese was served in a big bowl that was obviously dirty with a red smear on it (gross) I complained to a server and was told the smaller bowls were not available. I was very disappointed in the quality of food and presentation. What a rip off. The customer service was horrible, snarky and rude. Their iPad kiosks are awesome. I like that most people here don't utilize these so great for me haha I also like ordering from their app to this location. They also have the food ready 1-2 minutes before the final pick up time which allows you to go in and out real quick in you're in a hurry. It truly lives up to the "rapid" order name. This one doesn't have a ton of seats inside and it gets packed quickly, both during the weekdays and weekends. Their outdoor seating is nice and big, although it faces a pretty big intersection. I write this review only to warn the masses that this particular location is ALWAYS crowded with a line out the door during peak lunch hours. So I generally call-in a phone order... However, be prepared that the odds of them screwing up your order will be pretty high (as this has now happend to me on multiple occasions). And when I say screwing it up, I mean, your order may not even exist when you arrive 45 mins after placing your phone order, thus, defeating the purpose of callling your order in since you will be stuck waiting there anyway. I wish I would've read the reviews before coming here. This is the second and last time I come to this place. Both times they left out items in my order. The first time this happened I thought it was just a misunderstanding and came back for my items. But this time around I was a bit annoyed. I called the store to let them know I was on my way to pick up the items they left out and not only did the person answering the phone give me an attitude, they did not apologize for the mistake but instead told me they left the items at the register and I just did not take them (placing blame on the customer...big no) When I was there at NO point did they even relay that info. Then when my items were ready, I asked if everything was in my bag to which they assured me it was only to get home and find my items missing. Soup, salad and gloom..... What is with this Panera? First, the layout is terrible. Everyone has to clump together at the front of the store in order to place an order.... the dining area is uninviting; it has a stark, airport restaurant-like ambiance with very few booths, and two of those booths are adjacent to the garbage cans... very little art on the walls... and the music makes you want to find some Prozac. As many Yelpers have noted, the food is mediocre for what you pay, and the place seems to run out of basic supplies. Why are the coffee pots all empty on a Sunday morning? What were the employees expecting people to order? And it wasn't even busy. I get the impression that the Panera chain decided that La Verne is a land of mouth-breathers and subsequently did not need to provide as nice a dining experience as found at, say, the Panera in Pasadena. I didn't realize until going to this location that they had this sort of business policy. If the quality is going to be lower here, they should charge lower prices. But they couldn't possibly do that... could they. Maybe they could change the name of this location to "Panera Bland" or "Panera Blah". read more

I have a love-hate relationship with this establishment. I love that this place offers some decent healthy food. I have been trying to lose weight so I love this place because they carry foods that contain fewer calories. Because of that, I happen to eat here somewhat often. The price, portion sizes, and service are leave something to be desired. I understand that if you are going to offer food that is lesser in calories that the portions are likely to be smaller, but there is no way that it should be high priced. Today I bought a "you pick 2" which means you can pick a cup of soup, and a cup of salad for 9 dollars. I got carry out, and when I got it home I noticed that the portions were so small that both could have fit in the palms of my hands. The food was good, but I would only be willing to pay about five dollars for this. The service here is really hit or miss. Sometimes it can take up to 25 minutes to get a sandwich. Really? Today it took them about 15 minutes to pour a cup of soup and make a salad the size of my palm. If this place was cheaper I think I would be ok with it. But let's be fair, this place is pretty close to Claremont where the inhabitants don't mind paying a high price because they can afford it. The smugness of each really go hand-in-hand. read more

In short, this Panera sucks ass. The bread is always stale and the setup inside is so strange. The entire restaurant has 3, maybe 4, outlets for customers with laptops. In addition to that, customers sometimes bring in annoying children that they don't even try to control. The service has always been good, but there's not much to love about this Panera. As a person who's grown up on Panera (in West Covina), it was a complete let down to experience the terrible bread from this location. It's almost like the bread was made and stored for a week. Pastries that are suppose to be warm, soft, and chewy taste like sweet versions of cheap box croutons. Bagels are hard to chew. The coffee and certain sandwiches that come with tomato basil bread like the Mediterranean Veggie are decent. But overall, the food is not good, especially considering the price. The workers are generally friendly. The people at the register can be really peppy and helpful, which is nice. Also, going to this location with a laptop is a bad idea. Almost everyone has a laptop and is waiting for an outlet to finally be available. Considering people go to cafe style places with laptops all the time, it's strange this location doesn't add a few more outlets. Many times people leave and head to a nearby Starbucks when the wait is too long. Clearly, whoever runs this Panera needs to pay more attention to their target market to keep customers. People with computers tend to buy multiple items during their stay. This can be seen at any Starbucks. Adding to the aforementioned issues are the annoying kids who are sometimes brought by their parents and grandparents. These kids couldn't give two loaded diapers when their parents or grandparents timidly say, "Oh, now, now, you need to sit in your chair and eat your food." Or ask, "Can you stop playing with your food and stop throwing it at me? Please?" Honestly, it sometimes takes a lot to not go and smack those kids for being obnoxious and blatantly disrespectful to their elders. Even if you do like Panera, you probably won't like this one. The food is simply not good. Plus, this location is not computer friendly. There are also annoying kids who will make the experience of chewing a rubbery bagel or crunchy cinnamon bun that much worse. If anything, skip this place and head to the Starbucks down the street. read more
