I have a love-hate relationship with this establishment. I love that this place offers some decent healthy food. I have been trying to lose weight so I love this place because they carry foods that contain fewer calories. Because of that, I happen to eat here somewhat often. The price, portion sizes, and service are leave something to be desired. I understand that if you are going to offer food that is lesser in calories that the portions are likely to be smaller, but there is no way that it should be high priced. Today I bought a "you pick 2" which means you can pick a cup of soup, and a cup of salad for 9 dollars. I got carry out, and when I got it home I noticed that the portions were so small that both could have fit in the palms of my hands. The food was good, but I would only be willing to pay about five dollars for this. The service here is really hit or miss. Sometimes it can take up to 25 minutes to get a sandwich. Really? Today it took them about 15 minutes to pour a cup of soup and make a salad the size of my palm. If this place was cheaper I think I would be ok with it. But let's be fair, this place is pretty close to Claremont where the inhabitants don't mind paying a high price because they can afford it. The smugness of each really go hand-in-hand. read more

In short, this Panera sucks ass. The bread is always stale and the setup inside is so strange. The entire restaurant has 3, maybe 4, outlets for customers with laptops. In addition to that, customers sometimes bring in annoying children that they don't even try to control. The service has always been good, but there's not much to love about this Panera. As a person who's grown up on Panera (in West Covina), it was a complete let down to experience the terrible bread from this location. It's almost like the bread was made and stored for a week. Pastries that are suppose to be warm, soft, and chewy taste like sweet versions of cheap box croutons. Bagels are hard to chew. The coffee and certain sandwiches that come with tomato basil bread like the Mediterranean Veggie are decent. But overall, the food is not good, especially considering the price. The workers are generally friendly. The people at the register can be really peppy and helpful, which is nice. Also, going to this location with a laptop is a bad idea. Almost everyone has a laptop and is waiting for an outlet to finally be available. Considering people go to cafe style places with laptops all the time, it's strange this location doesn't add a few more outlets. Many times people leave and head to a nearby Starbucks when the wait is too long. Clearly, whoever runs this Panera needs to pay more attention to their target market to keep customers. People with computers tend to buy multiple items during their stay. This can be seen at any Starbucks. Adding to the aforementioned issues are the annoying kids who are sometimes brought by their parents and grandparents. These kids couldn't give two loaded diapers when their parents or grandparents timidly say, "Oh, now, now, you need to sit in your chair and eat your food." Or ask, "Can you stop playing with your food and stop throwing it at me? Please?" Honestly, it sometimes takes a lot to not go and smack those kids for being obnoxious and blatantly disrespectful to their elders. Even if you do like Panera, you probably won't like this one. The food is simply not good. Plus, this location is not computer friendly. There are also annoying kids who will make the experience of chewing a rubbery bagel or crunchy cinnamon bun that much worse. If anything, skip this place and head to the Starbucks down the street. read more

Mistakes happen... It's life. But, I cannot count how many times this has happened. I ask for some item with no meat. It's fairy easy and a common request. I would say 60-75% of the time I get meat on my salad. I get it that they are busy but, really? They are always nice and apologetic about the error. But, I'm the one who has to drive all the way back there... Stand in line. Ugh... No thank you. Typically when I order, I place the order for the office. It's sad cause when I get back with the order something is inevitably wrong. "I said no onions, there are onions", "I'm missing my bread", "wait they forgot 2 soups". I'm a big fan of Panera, particularly because they make a fine creamy mac 'n cheese, tomato soup w/ a slight bite, and not-too-sweet choco brownie. (And, yes, this is my preferred meal.) I happened to pop into this Panera with my hon on opening day. There was a line to the door, and many of the tables were full. The cashiers were quick, and before we knew it, we were at the front of the line, placing our order. We nabbed a table by the window (which had a great view of their lovely and expansive patio seating, I might add) and waited for our food. It came about fifteen minutes later--a bit longer than most Paneras, but this is a new one, so we were fine with it. I had my meal of choice (see above), and my hon had the smokehouse turkey panini. The sandwich was great--cheesy, bacony, crunchy, mmmmy. My meal was also very good. The mac 'n cheese was spot-on, delicious and hot. The soup was cold, but once I brought it to someone's attention, it was replaced, and not reheated, immediately. What sets this Panera apart from other Paneras is their service. Throughout our dining experience, three people came to check on us and see if we needed anything. This might be expected if the restaurant had been empty, but it was swamped with people. And I scanned the restaurant several times and saw other people getting the same kind of personal service. For a casual dining restaurant, I'd say that's pretty darn extraordinary. read more

I was very disappointed with this Panera. I was so excited to see there was a Panera near my house, because I've always loved it! Unfortunately, I've gone twice now and both times it's been an underwhelming experience. The service is mediocre to poor, slow, and both times they got some part of our order wrong. The first time I went, I had a panini with an asiago cheese bread (which is my favorite bread from Panera), and the bread was stale. It wasn't crunchy as I was expecting it to be...but I still gave it the benefit of the doubt. The second time I went, I had my other favorite thing, the Cinnamon Crunch Bagel with the Honey Walnut spread. Again, the bagel was stale and chewy. It's supposed to be the Cinnamon CRUNCH bagel, not the Cinnamon CHEWY bagel. It tasted as if they had just microwaved the bagel instead of toasting it. Miserable experience, I ordered a traditional BLT on toasted whole grain, she brought a BLT with chicken on untoasted sourdough. She came back three times to confirm my order although the receipt was correct and I showed it to her the first time (the last time she brought a manager type) before she finally came back with the sandwich I ordered. The filling was thinner than either slice of bread, pathetic for nearly $10, and as I was finally eating I noticed that my receipt states "Your order should be correct every time. If it's not, we'll fix it right away, and give you a free treat for your trouble. Just let an associate know " It took two associates to get the order right and wasn't "right away"! Their french toast bagels are excellent. I got the Chinese chicken salad today. The cashews were a big selling point. Unfortunately, the cashews were TINY little bits, and VERY few of them. Also. there is really No flavor in this salad that in any way tastes 'Asian'. No 5 Spice, No sesame, and the chicken is some weird spicy kinda Mexican flavor. PLUS, No cabbage or sesame seeds! City of La Verne loves their Panera and I discovered that real quick while I was out here for business. Lunch time here is cut-throat and good luck finding in-door seating or sharing a big table with another party because it's not going to happen. I HIGHLY suggest ordering using the mobile ap before arriving here. There are kiosks to order your food as opposed to waiting in line to talk to a live cashier. I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich and broccoli cheddar soup combo which came with a half baguette and it hit the spot, but I wasn't ranting and raving about it. Something about the simplicity of sandwich and soup or salad and soup is what appeals to me. Worst of all the onions, and lettuce were old and had dead pieces on them. Gross! I came here for lunch one day with my mom and brother. Surprisingly, it wasn't that busy for a Saturday. We stood in line for like 3 minutes and were able to order fairly quickly. I got a strawberry smoothie, which was really good - not too sweet, not too sour - just the way I like it! My brother ordered the chipotle panini, which came with chips. I had a bite of his sandwich and it was really hot and pretty good. It could have used a little more sauce though. My mom ordered the you-pick-two combo with the strawberry poppy seed salad and the broccoli cheddar soup, which came with a french baguette. The salad tasted really good, but wasn't too fresh. Some of the lettuce was noticably old and soggy - gross! We were in a hurry so we just decided to take out the old lettuce instead of asking for a new salad. The broccoli cheddar soup is my favorite at Panera! I love dipping the bread in the soup. Yummm! In general, I love Panera! I've never been to Pomona before but came to watch a show at the fox theater. Looked up places to eat through yelp and found panera- one of my favorite places. The reviews were horrible, but most comment were on the customer service and not the food-- so I went. Once I stepped in the workers gave a very welcoming greeting and were very polite. Like all the other paneras they delivered food to my table and the worker was so nice! Usually they just give you your food, but he made sure I was doing well with everything else and also picked up my trash! The food was great, but then again I was starving. ;). This place usually has a lot of people studying. So if you're not a big fan of one person taking up a large table, this place is not for you. It's usually a very busy place, and it's hard to find a seat most of the time. As for the service, every time I go to panera, there's this one cashier who is always trying her best. She's very sincere and friendly. There was never a day when she seemed upset or tired from her work. Now, that's an employee that should receive a star! :) It's just too bad that the layout of the cafe is just not up to par, and the environment is just not comfy enough to receive that many stars. If you have an hour to grab a healthy lunch this is a perfect place for you. I have been here twice for a Friday lunch date with my friend, Mo. We meet here right around noon. Often times the line is pretty long and can be intimidating but it ALWAYS seems to move quickly. The service is quick & they get you sent off to your table with an electronic Table # key. I have had the BBQ Ckn salad & the soups. The salad is sooo good. I have only enjoyed the Trader Joe's BBQ Ckn Salad... but I have to say this is almost better. It's tossed in just enough dressing with the perfect amount of grilled corn, peppers, & fresh greens.
