THIS IS FOR WESTLAKE VILLAGE BRANCH; I have no idea why it got posted to the Simi branch. This ONLY applies to the WLV branch: Important to note; I most only patronize this branch because it's my closest Panera and I belong to their Sip Club. I'd say because if it I average going there once every other day - I'm a thirsty guy, and the more beverages you get using Sip Club, the cheaper they are. For example, if I do have minimum 15 drinks a month, each one is less than a dollar! And those are big cups. As for ambiance - it's a small location, but okay - and most employees are pleasant and polite. However, I only give 4 stars because I don't like how they've changed over the last few months - and I'm sure it's corporate mandated - but they are now set up for ONLY onscreen, digital paying; if they take cash, you have to wait and try to get someone's attention to try and assist you without the screen. Other Paneras seem to still have cashiers in addition to the screen. This is probably because this small Panera is trying to save on personnel. Also, even when I order on my phone in the parking lot before I come in, and I wait until the text that says the order is ready, I go in and I still can't find my cup on the Rapid take out shelves. So I ALWAYS have to go to their food pick up window and get a food prepper to give me a cup. I preferred it when you could just take your own cup from next to the registers, which they've taken away. Bummer - I guess they figured people took cups without being in Sip Club. I witnessed them hand out sip club cups to 3 people ahead of me without any form of verification. "hey I need a sip club cup" "here you go" When it came to my turn, she asked for the number 3 times and kept making funny faces like she couldn't find it. My sip club membership is paid up to 5 months ahead. Anyone could tell it was a "little racist" moment. I'm not saying don't come here, just beware of what to expect. read more

This Panera bread makes a huge argument for food service unions. Multiple times the way I have seen the employees being treated makes me really upset. The last time I was in this particular location in Simi Valley the girl, taking my order seemed very upset and very distracted. I noticed she was wearing a glove on her hand, and asked if she was OK. She said she needed to go to the emergency room but her manager wasn't letting her leave until the line had been covered. I was stunned. That was not the only time I have seen the employees there being treated less than good. I have tried a couple of times since to just do rapid order pick up thinking it might make it easier on the employees and it is always turned off at this location especially times of the year where you would want to do pick up orders . A couple of times as well, they had got my order wrong and when I came back in and said "hey, this is a problem I can't eat bacon it has bacon on it." The manager gave me a bad attitude and was acting like I was just there for free food and not saying "hey, I can't eat this ." She's about 5.9" and dyes her hair red. If I could give this establishment a zero or less than zero for their customer service and terrible attitudes I would and it's not even the people that are lower on the totem pole. It is whoever is managing that kitchen like a workhouse. Every other Panera bread that I walk into the employees seem happy and like they like their jobs or at least have that front facing attitude, every time I walk into this particular Panera bread the workers always pissed and done with it and it always has a now hiring sign, and they've had to change their hours several times for having a lack of staff. I don't know how you run a chain this badly, but it seems like a very common occurrence in Simi Valley. Do not judge the rest of Panera bread on how bad this particular store is. read more

Why does this Panera location only have 2 stars? Haha, now I know! Needed a whole loaf of unsliced bread. Walked in around 3pm Saturday. As soon as I got to the counter looking at the bread racks towards the wall, the lady over the counter in a very rude tone of voice said, "I cannot sell you any of the breads. My family and I visited Panera today after church and we're blessed by the service and the food. From the young lady who took our order to Oscar who brought us our food the Receive was very excellent. Oscar continued to visit the tables and customers to see if there were any needs. When I went to go throw food away he kindly took it out of my hands and said, "I'll get that for you." He also quickly supplied us with a To Go container for my daughters pizza. Each time I went to the the staff was working and the environment was very clean even the coffee station was kept nice & tidy and well stocked. We will surely visit again. The reason we came to Panera today was their dedication to using and labeling non GMO ingredients (in many options. This location is so mismanaged that I finally felt a need to write a review in hopes that they can improve. I live right down the street so I've been here many, many times. My main issues are: Lack of employees at registers - usually only 1 or 2 even during busy hours Cashiers also running food - the person taking the orders also preps the order (except sandwiches, soups, salads and other longer prep items). If you have someone who wants bagels sliced and toasted and a smoothie or coffee, the cashier does all that. Meanwhile the person next in line, who maybe just wants a muffin put in a bag, has to wait for all the other customer's food to be prepped. Why not have a person taking orders and another running the food? It would go faster. (I literally walked out yesterday after waiting 10 minutes in line while the single cashier/food runner took an order. I just wanted a scone that would have taken 30 seconds to get. Maybe if TWO people were at registers, I would have given them my money.) Online orders not ready on time - If they can't handle the in store lines in a timely manner, this is no surprise that the online orders, even if ordered way in advance, are often not ready. Another customer and I waited about 15 extra minutes past the promised time to get our food. I've also seen other customers frustrated that their coffee or food sat at the bar and was not delivered and therefore got cold. I have given this place 3 tries before posting a review as I hate giving bad reviews. Trip 1: I ordered ahead of time. When I got there, I had to wait another 30 minutes for my food. They were friendly so I just kind of hung out. When I finally got my food, it was ice cold like it had been sitting. I sent all my food back and ate elsewhere. Trip 2: I decided to order when I got there for my to go order this time. This time I ordered, waited 20 minutes, only for them to tell me they were out of half of my order. I said no problem. Took what they had of my order and again ice cold. Trip 3: they no longer serve breakfast, short staff reasons...I decided to come for the last try since I used to love panera. We only got 2 toasted bagels hot chocolate, and a chai tea. It took 20 minutes for the toasted bagels, that were no longer warm when they called my number, and they never made the drinks. I heard the staff say sorry to almost every person in there. This place is a cluster and I would need a gift card to ever try this place again....assuming it can stay open. :( Very sadly disappointed. I just came in here to get a salad and a half a sandwich. Just haven't been here for a while. I paid $20. The half salad has a small amount of chicken thighs in it. Not chicken breast. And the sandwich had one slice of turkey. You've got to be kidding me. What are they trying to get rich. This review has nothing to do with the food. The food is good. The customer service is terrible. I ordered on the app, a family meal. They said it would be ready for curbside pickup at 02:05pm. I waited at the front until 2:22pm and decided I should call them to ask what's taking so long. The person who answered the phone said that they don't have enough staff to bring out the food to me. They asked me to walk in instead. I said "nobody called me to let me know". She said "sorry" and so I walked in and there were 3 employees waiting for customers at the cash register. I've been going to Panera Breadin different areas with no problems . The one in Simi Valley does not run well . If they are too busy , they should not accept orders from their online platform. Every time I go there , there's a problem . They are constantly late with their orders . Today , I ordered delivery from them. What a fiasco! Unfortunately , they use Door Dash . Not only does Panera' charge you a $5 "convenience fee" plus they charged me $5 more per sandwich that what their app says . I spent $44 on two sandwiches ! Then , the delivery person didn't speak English well . He got lost and never apologized . Also , my boyfriend met him at our apartment elevator . He handed my boyfriend the bag without asking him who he was or anything. He handed him the bag without a word ! 4 stars for good fresh food, (the broccoli cheddar soup was good) but got rid of the chicken chipotle panini, and the preparation can be a little bit better for the sandwiches. Plating us just as important as the actual cooking. Good selection if drinks, coffee roasts, and bread. The customer service is somewhat there. I ordered soup and 1/2 sandwich and a whole loaf of bread for delivery and did not get my whole loaf I tried calling the Simi Valley store they do not answer the phone. I called the Corporate because I still wanted the loaf, They said someone would get back to me. It has been two days no call, so I called corporate again today and told her that once again the Simi store did not answer and the girl told me it would be corporate customer care specialist I would need to speak to. This location has a long history of getting orders wrong, but recently i've been placing my orders online with better success, except for today. Ordered two lattes, both came only half filled, and my ham and cheese on asiago bagel came on ciabatta. They also held our order behind the counter so we were waiting an extra 15 minutes before we asked them where our order was. They said that they were out of pesto mayo, which was why they held it back. All sandwiches were a mess! I like that the turkey used is without antibiotics. It's a simple, home made flavor sandwich. Overall, for the price... to me, it's not worth it. There is certainly potential and I like that they are experimenting with different ingredients for unique sandwiches, but it's not something that blows my mind. It's average. This place gets worse every time we come here. Yet I keep giving it a try because the food is generally good. They are always out of things so whoever orders needs more training. We order chicken noodle soup and turkey, apple and asiago sandwich which tasted great when you could find some turkey on it. Hardly any turkey and what was there was in a clump right in the middle of the sandwich. Then the soups came I had a small and my daughter had a large. As you can see by the picture the large bowl comes halfway filled and the small bowl is filled to the top. So they both end up being about the same amount of soup. So we both start in on the soup, which pretty much was nothing but broth. I couldn't believe what I saw. Mine was worse than my daughter. It had about 4 pieces of noodles, no carrots and what looked like some small pieces of chicken at the bottom. We had to look to find a clean table. Now mind you this is 8:00 on Monday night so maybe 8 other people in there. Sooo once again I remember why I don't come here. It was really bad and I understand why they have such horrible ratings. I didn't read the ratings before we went in. After seeing several of them about the hair there food and the bad ratings I probably would not have gone in. read more

TL;DR - WiFi sucks, service and food are mediocre. It's a bummer that this Panera is stuck in 2008 with the slowest most inconsistent WiFi. I like to come to different coffee shops and Panera's to study but I need a reliable internet connection. The food is passable and the service is mediocre - they do leave you be and pick up your plates when finished so that is a plus. I wouldn't recommend this place for business meetings, studying requiring the internet, or any activity requiring WiFi - you're better off going across the street to the Starbucks with fast WiFi and good service. It's too bad this place hasn't kept up with technology over all. They don't even have the brilliant table pager system that other Paneras have to expedite finding your table and delivering your food. I'd love to make this 4-5 stars - start with the WiFi and work on the service. read more

Trying to review Panera is proving to be rather difficult. I just keep staring at "Meh. I've experienced better." and feel as if that is the perfect commentary. Their selection is wide, but overpriced. If you're going in the morning then you better have a paper to read or some emails to catch up on while you wait in line. I only ever find myself here when propositioned by others looking for a breakfast snack. The fresh toasted bagels are good, but that's really all I keep my Panera experience to, their namesake, bread. Anything you want to get at Panera you can find at another establishment that does it better. With that being said it's not horrible, just "Meh." read more
