Panizza is kinda hidden while being under your nose at the same time, seriously. You'll miss it, if you don't look for it. Its an unassuming little Argentinean restaurant disguised as a coffee shop. It's small like a coffee shop, it's got outdoor seating and a counter like a coffee shop, but their menu is pretty elaborate. Full of pasta dishes, sandwiches, empanadas, deserts (like flan), and a full wine selection. To find it, walk West of the westernmost edge of the pedestrian part of Lincoln Road. Almost as great as my obsession with pho is my obsession with empanadas. Every morning when I leave the house, I think about empanadas. When I travel around Miami, I always look for new places to satisfy my empanada cravings. The other day I noticed this little bakery on Lincoln road (just west of Alton) that had the word 'facturas' on the window. I knew they would have empanadas. I didn't have time to stop. I was sad. Today I had the time to stop in. In the back they have this DIY factura buffet. The medialunas are reeeally good. The shortbread cookies are amazing! Honestly, I bought one of everything and they are all good. :) And only $0.95 each. I also bought a chicken and a beef empanada. A little pricey at $2.50 each, and not the BEST I've ever had, but solid. I will definitely be back to try the other fillings. Service was not with a smile. The staff was a little hectic due to a 9:30 am crowd. But I ordered my goodies and a cafe con leche to go and left happy. read more

I love this place. The empanadas, facturas, cafe...it's wonderful! I like the cozy feeling inside too. This is a place I love to come for lunch on my own or to pick up some empanadas before traveling. They have a good selection of empanadas that range beyond the typical including corn and cheese, spinach and cheese, and caprese - as you can see, it's vegetarian friendly! The facturas are the best I have tasted. You get a little basket, fill it up and then they box them for you to take home. Sat down. Ordered a breakfast sandwich with no bacon and an orange juice. Food was fine. Service unfortunately wasn't. I finished my meal and waited 10 minutes for the server to come. The place was not busy. I went up to the register to order a coffee and then she came to deliver the coffee and pick up the plates. Probably won't come here anymore. I work in the industry and understand that in south beach there's a lot of tourists that aren't familiar with the tipping culture, however, tourist or not... Everyone deserves the same service and respect. Also had to help myself to the register to ask if I could pay. Left 20% tip out only because I believe it's the correct thing to do, but for the first time, I really considered not leaving anything. Super disappointed. read more

I got introduced to this place by a fellow yelper Shawn P..and been hooked ever since..by far the best spinach empanadas and pan de miga sandwiches! The place is tiny but so inviting and if weather permits ..is nice to seat outside...dogs are welcomed! I absolutely love Panizza. They have the best Argentinian empanadas and pie. My absolute favorite is the chicken empanada and the spinach pie. You can not find anything like it elsewhere. The food taste fresh and it's always delicious. It is an awesome place to go sit for happy hour and not deal with crowded loud places. The tables outside are great for people watching and their wine selection is great. They have great happy hour prices and amazing tapas. Sunday brunch is also excellent. Love the comfortable home feeling I get here! The owner came up to my table and introduced herself, which I appreciate as many places won't even have the owners there most of the time! Cutest little hole in the wall. Everything is reasonably priced as the places near by arent due to the location. I usually have the coffee and pastries from here. Pastries are self serve! I've eaten here twice. Both times the food has been great, but this last time the service was so abysmal I had to write a review. On my first visit I had the veggie omelette and some pastries, all of which were delicious. Our server was perfectly nice, attentive and quick, we sat outside and he mostly left us alone as we were chatting and eating but the water cups stayed full, the bill came quickly and the food was served hot and in a timely manner. The second time around, or waiter was very rude and basically ignored us the whole time. I work in service so I understand how busy it can get and how difficult it can be to keep up with everyone and their individual needs as a customer- however it wasn't very busy and he should have been able to give us adequate service. He took our order but served my boyfriends coffee but not mine. When he came back to serve the entrees he served him and said 'one minute and yours will be right out.' It took over twenty. My boyfriend looks decidedly more Hispanic than I do and while he doesn't speak great Spanish he can get by with his Portuguese and I really think that's why he did that. He should have just brought them out at the same time. That was terrible etiquette. And we had to ask for the check about three times and it took an hour to pay after that. The food is great but this last time I went left such a bad taste in my mouth that I'd be hesitant to go back. read more

This place is pretty good. The food is nice and the coffee is excellent. I feel safe ordering pretty much anything from the casual menu whenever I'm in the area for lunch. The sandwiches are well put together, especially the "Lomito". Price is great for the area. I would give this place 4 stars but there are two problems. First, the service is completely unacceptable. The waiter I've had the couple of times I've been there seems to forget that he has to wait tables. Had to flag him down for everything, from refills on water to the bill. He just disappears sometimes and I had to go to the counter to get my water refilled. Second, the place sits right next to an alley that stinks! It is impossible to sit outside without foul odors floating in the air. Overall, I decided that I'll just order out. It will save me from the terrible service and smells. read more

Gotta Love It! Had a business meeting with 3 friends at the local bistro and this was my 3 time here. I had the chicken grilled salad which was nice but nothing out of the ordinary, a spinach/ricotta cheese empanada and a pastry. The empanada was a little cold inside. Pastries were good. It says wifi in the store profile here but that was not the case. The value was good and I just love the feel of the place. The curved corn window and high ceiling just do it right. With a little effort on the empanada on cooking technique and wifi I would have given this a 5 star as a bistro. read more

Good atmosphere. Great pastries @ $.95/ea. The atmosphere reminds you of a boutique bakery. Feels very homey. The pastries here appear to be fresher than Charlotte Bakery. This is a good place to stop by for breakfast but be warned that it can get busy on the weekends Empanadas here were okay and not as good as go go fresh. I got the ham and cheese empanada and it was semi warm and some of the center was a bit cold. They could have toasted it more. I'm biased... i was raised in argentina and this is a slight copy of your every corner argentinean cafe. Coffee is good and a perfect alternative to the local over roasted starbucks coffee. We had some facturas (argentinean pastries) that are tasty but has to be snatched early morning. Stop by have a cortado and a medialuna to have a small taste of Argentina. read more

My favorite breakfast place in South Beach with the best capuchino coffee in town made beautifully by Sindy. The food is great with an extraordinary variety of choices. The service is tops. You feel that, from the cashier Sindy to every waitress and waiter, they are all there just for you because they add a personal touch and treat you like family. Also Yamila, Lorenzo, Matthew and Camila give special care. Once I left my phone behind and Matthew ran more than three blocks to hand it to me. The owners deserve special mention. The mother-daughter Argentine-American team is very customer-oriented. Carina, the mother, and Agostina, the daughter, know their business well and their clientele even better. It's simply delightful to have this place within walking distance where I can have a delicious breakfast and bring a book to read for as long as I wish. I hope Panizza will be here forever!! Walking around in the area looking for some breakfast and I must say I Just had the best breakfast ever!!! Freshly squeezed orange juice was perfect. Rustic panini bread with fresh avocado, bacon bits, feta cheese and over medium eggs! Everything was cooked to perfection! The service is outstanding! They also have a little bread bar that is also delicious! Croissants of all kinds, freshly baked. Definitely stopping in for some baked empanadas and dessert next time. read more

The breakfast was acceptable other than the overly greasy eggs. Nothing to rave about, it seemed slightly better than standard diner food. Service was particularly slow, and my order was brought out incorrectly on the first attempt. Adding the missing egg to my croissant took 6 minutes. What warrants the 1 star rating is the absurd and unacceptable way I was treated when I went to pay with a Groupon. If you aren't aware, Groupons are to be accepted by stores simply by showing the Groupon on your phone; they do not need to be printed. To the cashier though, this was unacceptable. After getting into a shouting match for a few minutes over the cashier not following the terms of the deal with Groupon, he decided that he needed to hold my wife hostage while I walked three blocks through an unfamiliar neighborhood to pay $2 to print the Groupon at Kinko's. All this while I was supposed to be enjoying my vacation in Florida. Unacceptable. Luckily Groupon, being the star that it is, refunded my money and all I ended up paying was the $2 to Kinko's which is all I would be willing to pay to eat at this place again. read more

This was the second stop of my south beach food tour last week. My tour guide steered us here because of their empanadas. Apparently Argentinians do it best because their baked instead of fried like it's done in many other countries in latin and central america. I'll have to agree with this assessment. I tried a chicken and beef empanada here and was blown away with how good it was. It was fresh, delicious and not oily. Quite filling as well considering it's not big. My husband and I have lived in Miami for many years and dined here fairly often but after tonight's experience we will NOT be returning. Started off fine, mediocre happy hour appetizer and two beers then ordered our mains. I got the skirt steak which was fine but definitely lacking in presentation, minimal fries and chimichurri in a plastic container with a lid as though it was a to go order. My husband ordered the chicken milanese and that's where things went wrong. A few bites into his dish I look down and notice the chicken was RAW! Not a little pink but RAW, the edges must have been cooked enough he didn't notice immediately but I'm talking chicken still clucking in the middle!!! I got our waiters attention and showed him, he apologized profusely for the inconvenience, we explained we did not want a replacement (nope nope nope) but he was kind enough to bring us a dessert along with another apology. We thought he handled the situation perfectly, boy were we wrong!!! When we asked for the bill he brought the machine out and recited our order including the RAW chicken in our bill, my husband and I looked at each other shocked, paid for the raw chicken and left swearing to never return! So if you feel like being charged for food poisoning this is definitely the restaurant for you!!! read more

I moved to South Beach 2 months ago and have enjoyed breakfast here daily. You can't beat the selection of self serve pasties or the price ($1.00) ! If you want something heartier there's a complete menu ranging from empanadas to paninis served on wooden cutting boards. This reminds me of those small bistros you find tucked away in Buenos Aries or the French countryside. Everything about it is relaxed and unhurried... something you'll rarely find in South Beach . The owner is a friendly, very hip 30 something year old giant with a handlebar mustache who goes out of his way to accommodate. It's small and inviting with delicious food at reasonable prices. We got menus and waited a good 5 mins and told the lady behind the counter we were ready to order and they both kept talking to the couple. If you're looking for a hot breakfast this is not the place for you. Spinach omelette was tasteless (the menu insists there are two types of cheese in there but my mouth begs to differ) and the eggs rancheros was a pile of beef, eggs, and tasteless cheese in a pool of grease. The fresh-squeezed orange juice was not sourced from the most flavorful oranges, but it WAS fresh-squeezed at least. And perhaps the pastries are pleasant, but we didn't try any. read more
