We visited on a Sunday afternoon. There wasn't a huge crowd so we were seated fast and sat upstairs. The shrimp eggrolls (I forget the real name of the fish) were really good. One of the most delicious Thai food spots in LA. The restaurant's ambience is great for a date or just a great time to relax and enjoy some sophisticated culture without the hassle of traffic. This place is nestled in the cusp of Lakewood and Long Beach which makes it fairly easy to get to. The one thing that I really enjoy is that each time we've gone, the food quality and tastes remain consistent. I simply love their salads and curry dishes. What a gem in this part of Long Beach. We were there at 6pm on Sat., and it was already crowded, had to wait half hour for a table, but worth the wait. Their beef satay was better than any I've had at other Thai places, and their papaya salad, shrimp salad, and beef (ribeye) salad were excellent. Service was great, the waitresses smiled all the time and were attentive, despite how busy it was. Would go there again for thai food when I'm in Long Beach. Location/ Parking: There are 2 separate parking areas, park in the back the front usually gets full during primetime. You can also enter the restaurant through the back door. Has 2 floors with a nice waiting area outside (with heat lamps). Modern thai decorations are all around with dim lighting, great place for a date. Also, has a bar inside on the 1st floor, but I've only came here for the food. Soft Shell Crab Curry: A thick savory curry with soft shell crab, is a must get here. Pair it with a side of rice and it's the perfect meal. The crab is deep fried to a perfect crisp covered in the amazing curry flavors with veggies. AMAZING. Money Bag: Chicken and shrimp mix in a wonton wrap deep fried. Pretty much its a egg roll shaped into a money bag. Adorable presentation served with a side of sweet and sour sauce. Papaya Salad: Flavorful, fresh, with a great spicy kick. Great dish to start off the meal. Their papaya salad is topped off with dried salty fish, great addition to this typical dish. Pad Si Ew: Sweet delicious noodle dish. Can't go wrong with this traditional dish. All this plus a thai tea for under $50. I was so excited when a chic Thai restaurant opened up near my house that I could actually walk to! The ambiance will amaze you when you walk in and the staff is absolutely friendly and welcoming! My friend and I killed 2 birds with 1 stone and decided to do some "walking", chatting, and voila~ we made it there in no time. This place is amazing!!! I walk in and it's just beautiful and welcoming inside. The bar area is a plus as well. They sat us upstairs which by the way was also beautiful. We had a big group so we thought it was gonna be hectic with the orders but the staff was ready and knocked all our orders out with no problems. The food didn't take long and when we did get the food it was looking amazing. Couldn't wait to try the food. I ordered the crab fried rice & flaming chicken. Was craving some Thai food but didn't know any "legit" enough places in the LBC. Glad this place was recommended by a friend. I ordered the Pad See Ew and I must say the noodles were SUPER silky and I like that. It was also very hot and fresh when I got it and not warm like other places. There was enough tofu and veggies (got the veggie version). The only thing that would be considered 'bad' was that it was a little bit too sweet but not to the point where it was unbearable. Friend ordered a curry and there was a LOT of meat. All in all, this place is a good place to hang with friends for a nice ambiance and good thai food. The servers tend to your needs and refill the water without even you asking. The bar is nice as well. So, it seems like this is the new default Thai place to eat at for my parents, who I usually go out to eat with on the weekends. Surprisingly, we ate here on a Friday night and Sunday lunch time per my dad's request. He must really like it because he's hard to please when it comes to food in general. It was my first time here and most likely my last since I live in Seattle, but I don't think I would return here when I do return to Long Beach. This place does not serve Thai food. This place serves AMERICANIZED Thai food to accommodate those whom have weak taste buds or cannot handle the spice of real Thai food. Sorry, but seriously.. I thought it was odd that we weren't asked how many stars we wanted for our Pad Thai. That right there was a red flag. Second, my cousins girlfriend is Vegan, so she got the vegan version of Pad Thai and hers came out spicy as hell while my Pad Thai came out bland. I could tell it wasn't enjoyable to her at all, which was unfortunate. My cousin and her girlfriend think there's a new cook because I guess it hasn't always came that way. Hmm.. Maybe we came on a bad night. It's funny that the KOREAN BBQ short ribs was my favorite dish of the night, instead of the actual THAI entree we ordered. The short ribs were great! But I didn't order those, so I couldn't eat all of my cousins food. Service was okay. Not bad, not good. Forgot about my cousins girlfriends food, which is probably why they rushed out whatever they already had going on in the back. This place is really nice and modern. I love the way it looks inside. Great place for groups, to have a drink, or a date.... If you like screaming at your date over the noise :). The food is so amazing and the service was great as well until I requested an additional scoop of coconut ice cream with my desert. The manager and staff refused to serve me one scoop and stated it comes with two. I did not want two scoops due to the extra temptation however this experience ruined the moment. Hence the 1 star. This time the chef came by our table to make sure we liked everything; of course we did, but he also let us know that they can always make any dish a special way to the customer's liking. He said if I wanted my Spicy Jungle Noodles with pad thai-style noodles, that would be okay. But I assured him that things were wonderful as-is. Great service! Spicy Jungle Noodles were spicy, but my water was refilled over and over and over without me ever saying a word. You must try Panvimarn. The decor is chic, which makes you worry that it might be too Americanized but its not!! Everything is so flavorful with its own unique tastes, unlike some Thai places which use the same basic sauce for so many items. The past two times I've dined here, the chef personally served us our meals--what awesome service (although it was a little slow to get the check & leftovers packed). Try the Spicy Beef Salad and Emerald Green Curry.. I live in LA and anytime that I happen to be driving through Long Beach, I stop here to eat. My favorite Thai restaurant up in LA could learn a trick or two from Panvimarn. The dishes I've tried are nothing short of ROCK STAR! Filet Mignon Panang Curry - The filet melts in your mouth! The curry sauce is just perfectly balanced when it comes to flavor. My mouth is watering as we speak and I'm lost for words. Pad Thai w/Chicken - I like my pad thai a little saucy, and they do it just right! The noodles are soft and you can taste the sauce! It's never dry or clumpy and the chicken is white meat of course. Pad See Ew w/Beef was unbelievably delicious! Again, mouth watering sauce mixed with perfectly cooked noodles and just the right amount of egg! The beef is sliced oh so nice and thin, just the way I like it. And we are talking about some lean beef folks, no fatty chewy stuff here. Did I mention the sauteed broccoli is super fresh and cooked perfectly? The only reason I'm knocking off a star is because the service could use some help. They definitely weren't under staffed, just not as attentive as they should've been. The food is great and very flavorful. We have had so many great dishes here. We love the soft shell crab curry, the jungle noodles, the BBQ pork (My husband thinks this dish is amazing). the owner/chef is always around and tries to make sure everyone is happy. overall this place is top notch. I am half Thai so I'm somewhat critical of Thai cuisine. This place can get crowded around dinner time, so make a reservation. Staff was friendly and attentive. Ambiance is very nice, relaxing, trendy and comparable to Tantalum's atmosphere located in Marina Pacifica. Great place for a date. We had a party of 11, kids included. Portions and prices were decent. Items ordered: Moneybags - weird taste, pass on these. Shrimp blanket was good. Pad Thai (which frankly has been over Americanized and a "trendy" go to nowadays) was decent. I've had better at Thai Nakorn or Siam Palace. Lad Nah w/chicken was just different and missing something. The sauce was too light in color first off. I've NEVER seen carrots, mushrooms added to it, which was weird!!! Probably another Americanized idea! Authentic Thai only uses broccoli (Chinese or American). Larb - chicken (pronounced Laab, which the waitress tried to correct me on) was ordered extra Thai spicy hot, came out tasting like a medium heat. Very disappointed with the heat level, the flavor was good, but come on, I emphasized I wanted HOT!!!! Chicken and Beef Satay had way too much lemongrass taste happening and was overpowering (where were the other flavors of shallot, curry, etc). BTW, they do not serve sticky rice, which my kids love eating with satay. They only serve the sticky sweet rice with the mango dessert. BBQ pork was tasty but unfortunately it was mostly fat! Siam Palace has a BBQ pork to die for. Their dipping sauce is like crack! Panvimarn Rice (no need for fire extinguisher lol even though the menu tries to joke about needing one), Heavenly Rice aka combination fried rice and white rice were ok. Pad-se-ew w/beef was decent. Thai ice coffee wasn't that strong either. All of the above, nothing spectacular. If you're looking for authentic Thai, sorry to say this is not the place. This is such a cool place to dine in. Waiters automatically greet you and offer you seating. The view is so nice from the second floor. For the spices on the food, medium is medium and mild is just mild. I got the noodle plate with chicken and vegetables. I can't remember the name of the plate but it tasted so good. The waiters were pretty frequent about refilling my glass and brought a high chair for my baby. Not too noisy, although during lunch time it was almost full in the blink of an eye. The food came in about 15 minutes so not too long. And the service was great. One thing I will say is that it's pretty dark in there. Black walls and a couple of tv's. Pricing isn't bad either. Panvimarn has been my "go to" Thai place for a few years because the food was always super yummy. Unfortunately, this past year, the service and the food quality have gone down considerably. Since it's such a popular place, I typically order delivery to avoid the crowd. The last few orders have been messed up in some way. Last week, we did an online order and they gave us the wrong dish and doubled another... No clue how they could have messed it up. This last time, I waited 1.5 hours before I called to check up on my food. **Delivery for these guys take an hour anyway. I find out they forgot to deliver it and it was sitting on the counter. On another occasion, they delivered my food and it was as if they shook it upside-down. I opened the containers and most of the food was out of every one (luckily they bag each dish individually or it would have been everywhere.) Honestly, I can't even remember how many other occasions they've messed up my order. So one might ask, why do I keep going back? Well, I am a big supporter of local business, and this spot was convenient and close. My husband is also a big fan of the beef jerky...and luckily that is one dish that has stayed consistently good. I always tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt because it is very popular and busy..basically I was making excuses for them. Now I am done. Long wait. It seems fancy with TV's, chandeliers, etc. Food was delicious and on point however the seafood salad, the Apple still had the wax paper label on it and we complained about it. They gave us the option to take it back, if you would have taken it, would you just remove the apple and return the same plate? Obviously I wasn't too thrilled with the service. This is my second time eating here and my first delivery order. To start with the negatives: I had planned on ordering golden curry with tofu but they only had it available with chicken. Second when it was delivered they did not have any white rice with it. Despite these set backs the food was very good. I also ordered the pineapple fried rice with pork. Okay, we'd been looking forward to this place because of the Yelp. So when we got the opportunity to do so, we (my wife and I) were giddy like school children with a BB gun. So one thing leads to another, and ta-da! We are at Panvimarn, and don't even have to pay! What luck, right? Service appears in a timely manner, and waits on us in a timely fashion through-out the service. Good deal. The food? Mmmm pretty good I'd say! I enjoyed the spread, it was varied and flavorful though a bit on the pricey side according to the menu. We shared each entree, which seemed to confuse the server, but in the end they were able to provide extra plates to accomodate us. But why the 2 stars you may ask? What could possibly go wrong? THEY BROUGHT A FANTASTIC SAUCE TRAY, AND THEN CAME AND TOOK IT BACK LONG BEFORE WE WERE DONE EATING! WHY MOMMA WHY?! WE LOVED THE SAUCES! WHY DID YOU FORSAKE US?! I mean: Really, what the crap? You couldn't afford to buy enough spice trays for each of your tables, on the off-chance you'd have each table full with the prices you charge? We were hosting family from the South for their first experience of foreign cuisine, and the confused looks on their faces when this happened (and rather abruptly) tempted me to go buck wild and thrash the place with my ninja skills.
