This is a sister restaurant to a restaurant in Castle Rock, Colorado. That place is called Tribe- it's my family's family's restaurant in Castle Rock. So delicious. This is a very comfortable restaurant to come to and have a nice comforting meal. Very classy without the pretension. I came for dinner (and to get some work done). My server suggested the best wine pairing. I ordered the mushroom mole enchiladas (which BTW if you like mushrooms, you'll love these!!! order them) and added chicken. It was so good paired with the pessimist red blend. Oh and if you are feeling adventurous order some flan for dessert. Trust me this meal will make you want more. We have a 2 year old, so restaurants are inevitably a ticking time bomb. The longer we're there, the greater the chance of a meltdown. With that in mind, we try to keep meals fairly tight. Panxa was not able to accommodate this. Their pace is leisurely and despite promises that the meal would be pretty fast... it wasn't. So that's going to tint my overall experience. As for the food. The cornbread was great but heavy. The chips and dip were pretty delicious. The breakfast burrito was a bit tortilla-heavy and bland. STEPH JUDGEMENT: Sophisticated modern Southwest cuisine with great service. The hubby and I've been here a couple of times for dinner now and it's one of our favorite local restaurants. I'd been here several times for happy hour over the years (which is great), but now I know what I've been missing out with their regular menu! Below are the items we've tried so far. Not everything is a home run, but when it's good it's great: Peaty Pablo cocktail and Simi Sauvignon Blanc - very enjoyable Goat cheese enchiladas - smoky, surprisingly spicy sauce with wonderful pureed black beans--one of our favorites. Squash salad - light and crisp but bordering on bland. Potato cheddar cakes - crisp and delicious, but could have been more cheddary. Charred Queso Oaxaca - mmmmm so cheesy and spicy! Albondigas con Spatzle - delicious but SO VERY RICH; I could only eat a few bites but they made excellent leftovers Creamy Poblano Rice - very cheesy and delicious. Service has been excellent, and while the restaurant can get very loud and parking can be challenging at times, we've enjoyed it enough to add it to our regular rotation. Quick seating and service which is rare for brunch, all of our food came out great and they had a lot of good juices for the mimosas as well! Just be prepared for typical long beach parking though, one person from our group had trouble finding a spot so it kind of delayed things a bit. The staff were extremely patient though especially since we ended up staying way too long having a fun conversation and just enjoying the vibe so we lost track of time (sorry again!) Overpriced & Unethical! Never have I been so mad at a restaurant. First off, the Food is good, but it's way way way overpriced. I live within walking distance and I've been coming here since it opened and what you get for what you pay is ridiculous. Go anywhere else if you want value. They charge like they are a 5-star restaurant in a great location. It's just not the case. They nickel and dime you. Now the unethical part... What really pissed me off is that they slip items into the check hoping customers don't notice. I look at the check this weekend, and I notice a "Restaurant Relief" charge of 3%! Are you kidding me! Look at the receipt I posted. They don't disclose this at all anywhere and they think that's okay. It's outrageous and wrong on every level. When I complained, they were defensive and mad when I called them out. This is not the first time! They used to bring you water when you sat down, like most restaurants do, pre-Covid and they would add a $1 to the check! Again, no disclosure anywhere just hoping nobody would notice or complain. This was a couple of years ago to be fair, But Never were we asked if we even wanted water much less tells us that they will charge you for tap water. They think this kind of BS is okay if you can believe that. It's their culture... I called them out then as well and their response was "we got a new purified water system". OMG! What a joke. The Charred queso with short ribs was good, definitely more filling than I expected. However, the new Mexican Pizza was not for me. It was very oily & heavy, I don't know how to describe it but I only had 1 piece and couldn't finish it (which is rare, I don't have issues with greasy food). The Nicholas sage was delicious! It tasted very much like bourbon but it was good, had a hard kick (I usually don't have bourbon). Out waiter was awesome, friendly and helpful. It's slightly pricey and there's a small parking lot or street parking. Plenty of seating inside , at the bar or also outside. read more

And I will say, getting food to go is harder to make it look pretty as you would on a plate, however that being said my "New Mexican pizza" looked beautiful!!
