Pretty good Mexican food! I think the quality is better than your typical run of the mill Mexican. The grilled Serranos are the best! So spicy and addicting! The chips, extra crunch and their salsa verde is damn good. The prawn burrito was ok.. she told me there was guacamole that came with it but it didn't. Not a big deal I got a side of guacamole, the seasoning was lacking a bit but that's what salsa is for. I came again for the lagunitas smoked pork quesadilla. That was good! And too much food I needed a box. Actually all their dishes are pretty big. This restaurant is cute and Sebastopol chic, probably the best Mexican in Sebastopol and they have great vegan and veg options! read more

It was really busy but they had it running smoothly despite people flat out not tipping and being a little rude when told it would be about a 45-minute wait for food if they did walk-up orders. Definitely text in your orders ahead of time to make their contact-free pick up all the easier. I know this is a local favorite and my family loves this place. But for me, the place is 3 stars at best. I've never eaten anything here I could hardly wait to enjoy again. There's a lot of windows but it still feels a bit dark to me. The tables and chairs are like patio furniture. Menu selections are okay but nothing ever jumps out at me. Being the name is Papas and Pollo I thought they'd have fries (yes I do realize the name only says papas not papas fritas). But they do have them like one night a week. The papas they have are baked potatoes. White potatoes and sweet potatoes which just do happens they've been out of at least 4 times that we've tried to order them. We got back late from Bodega Bay and needed a place to eat that stayed open until at least 8:30 on a Sunday night. Didn't expect anything and we were going to do a takeout...man...this place is fantastic. Perfectly cooked fish tacos and Prolly the best chicken nachos I've ever had. Nothing is salty. Everything is just perfectly cooked. The chicken was tender and had the right amount of char. The fish was griddled just right and the ingredients were top notch, I geek out on cooking at home and not always the easily impressed. This was one of those random places that impressed me. To boot, the draught beer is incredibly fresh too. My wife hates Mexican food and even she liked this place a lot. read more

I loooove papas. I remember the way it was before the current owners and the food was great then. Fresh, I love that pico would be served in the quesadilla. Great food. New owners took over and still has delicious food, but like anywhere the prices went way up and got really "healthy" if you know what i mean..vegan, gluten free, tofu, greens in random foods you wouldnt expect. I still give 5 stars because the food really is EXCELLENT quality. Pricey, but it's worth it for me sometimes when you want a quality burrito. I love the Texas Longhorn burrito and my bf loves the chicken on a hot tin roof burrito. I have wanted to go to papas and pollo for years and now I finally got the chance to go. Personally Mexican food is my favorite food, and I have had a lot of it in my time. Papas and pollo had a high bar to set, and they completely exceeded my expectations. The service was great and food came fast, very friendly cashier. Another thing I struggle with is being gluten free at restaurants and I told them my allergy and they informed me about everything that was gluten free and were nice about it. It was a cute restaurant and was comfortable. They have a very good smoked and braised pork taco. I highly recommend and am coming back soon. read more

They've definitely done a change up from the time I went there a few years ago. Recently every time Ive had the burritos/plates or chips, theyve had such a delicious mesquite flavor on the meat and the salsas were really bomb and authentico. This is such a neat spot! I absolutely love the atmosphere especially their adorable outdoor garden. Located on hwy 116 just as you enter Sebastopol (If traveling north) This adorable cozy interior has Sebastopol all over it! The exterior is dressed with a grassy hut that you can't miss. I really like the idea of ordering and paying, then sitting down. That way, there is no waiting for someone to take your order and no waiting for someone to bring you your tab. The service was super speedy! And the staff was very friendly. Can't argue with that. 5 stars for them. There is a salsa bar available with 2 salsas. One red and one green. To be honest, There was ZERO flavor from either salsa. The red didn't even taste like tomatoes. The chips are super thick and YUMMY!!! They would be absolutely excellent for Nachos. I really enjoyed those. I ordered 1 fish taco one pastor taco and a side of rice. I personally found the rice very dry....yuck! Almost reminded me of 2 day old minute rice. Sorry if the owner is reading this. I mixed salsa in it to moisten it up. That worked! The tacos are on a single tortilla. Not double stacked therefore tell apart easily. The fish taco was grilled accompanied with a tasty avocado sauce. After yoga class, I went to Handline 2 hours later to get my fish taco fix satisfied. They do not have pastor. But it's this own BBQ pork with a twist. There was so much meat in that Taco! It was kind of over kill. Semi moist with lots and lots and LOTS of chewing. A Small salad came with my food which was lovely, except no dressing....just greens Maybe I was supposed to put lettuce on that too? I wasn't sure so I left that behind. Bland. So very bland. We came here on a (bad) recommendation from someone who visited Sebastopol. Parking is easily available in the back, at least on a weekday afternoon. Ordering is done at the counter and the woman taking orders was nice. Prices are reasonable. We ordered the Chicken on a Hot Tin Roof burrito and a Texas Longhorn burrito. Firstly and most importantly, the burritos are BLAND. The salsas they provide = BLAND. To help my palate, I asked for hot sauce since there didn't seem to be any out, and was offered a habanero salsa they keep behind the counter. That was the only saving grace of the meal -- it was spicy, delicious, and flavorful. I had to dab it on every bite of the burrito. Secondly, the burritos are dense because they are filled with rice, beans, and a ton of cheese -- Monterey Jack to overpower everything. I could have just ordered a quesadilla. There is very little meat in the burrito, to the point where you can't see it even though they serve the burrito cut in half. The chicken itself had a good flavor. The carne was flavorless. Thirdly and most disgustingly, there are flies everywhere inside. Like everywhere. They sit on you, the tables, the food. Gross. So gross. If you're visiting, pass on this place. If you're a local, more power to you to make a choice. read more

This place has some of the best tomatillo salsa I have ever tasted. The carne asada burrito could have been better though. The meat just didn't have enough flavor. The ingredients were fresh and it came out hot, but they definitley need to leave the asada in the marinade longer. read more

Cool funky spot. We stopped here late one night right before they were closing and unlike some places that act put out when you show up near closing time, when we asked if they were still serving they welcomed us in without hesitation. I am really glad too because this food was yummy. I had the fish tacos. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked. They came topped with a little cabbage, some avocado, creme, and cilantro - just enough to compliment the fish without overpowering. The sides of rice and black beans were also very good. And the house made tortilla chips were dangerously great. My friend got the tofu temptation burrito and I kid you not that thing was off the chain good. Who knew - tofu could taste like that? Seriously it was amazing. The lady at the next table heard us commenting on how good it was and had to chime in in agreement. She told us she travels from Santa Rosa just for the tofu burrito. And for those of you who are watching your carbs, you can get it naked (served on a bed of greens without the tortilla wrap). I love that they focus on locally sourced, organic and GMO free ingredients whenever possible. I really want to try one of their stuffed yams and breakfast. Was not impressed at all by this place. It looked cool on the inside but glancing into the kitchen was a mistake. Asada tacos were pretty weak and sides were pretty dry. The best part of my meal was probably my luke warm beer. Food took forever to come out as well. It's a neat little place but I wouldnt recommend anyone to go there read more

Delish food but s-l-o-w -- we got some breakfast burritos to go and it took almost 30 mins just to order at the counter, and then another 20 mins to get our food. I believe they let you call in your order which I would definitely do next time for a to-go order but we still would've had to wait in line to pay for them/pick them up. Luckily, after that long wait the food was pretty darn delish and the burritos were literally bursting with yummy ingredients. Flavors were spot on and I'd definitely eat here again. Sauces were also really tasty too although they do limit you to how much you can take w your to-go order. Lots of parking (lot in back) and service was very friendly. Huge disappointment! We ordered 6 burritos--2 of then were mislabeled. My "pulled pork" was actually a veggie burrito. My niece's veggie was my pulled pork. Really excited about this place. Finally tried it out tonight after moving here a year and a half ago. Wow, what were we waiting for? I had a chicken burrito (Hot Tin Roof) and husband had the chicken burrito with artichoke hearts. Our burritos were nice and hot with grill marks on the tortilla and melted cheese, all the ingredients tasted so fresh... and smoky grilled bbq'd chicken inside. Huge burritos! We had leftovers! The chips and salsas were great too. Chips were hot and fresh and salted just right. Pretty sure they fry them right there and it makes a huge difference. And the outdoor patio on a warm summer night... I think I just found my new favorite place in Sebastopol. read more
