This hidden gem is located on the 9th floor of Saks, and a store this pristine should absolutely have a restaurant to match, L'Avenue delivers. My husband & I went for lunch. We were both served a roll with our meals, and I was pleasantly surprised when a gluten-free roll arrived for me. For lunch, I enjoyed the carrot ginger juice along with the string bean, artichoke, and avocado salad, while my husband opted for the cheeseburger. Everything was delicious, and Jack provided truly stellar service. A great spot all around. My only wish is that I didn't have to travel nine floors to get there. read more

Go here for the swanky ambience and, especially at Christmas time (when the tree is there), a solid view (if you can snag the window seats, great; if not, just be courteous about it for those who have the seats when you go over to the window area to take photos). Walked in here for lunch with some coworkers and it was pretty good! We had some apps along with the tom yum sea bass and the lobster pasta. All the dishes were delicious but the sea bass is a must try, the fish is extremely tender and the curry is super flavorful! Lovely experience on the 9th floor. The room is decorated in light wood tones with views down 5th Ave.I love that they bring delicious sourdough and baguettes at the start. There's a nice selection of wine cocktails. It's an expensive restaurant, but you won't leave hungry. Portions are healthy. The green juice was delicious. A wonderful meal during the holidays at L'Avenue on the ninth floor of Saks. The tables are spread far apart. Go to the windows to see the view of Rockefeller Center's tree and rink! We were two for dinner and saw a variety of dishes to choose from. What we didn't realize were that portions for generous! We had two starters and two mains. Way too much but they were all delicious. The eggplant burata and asparagus, artichoke and Parmesan starters were amazing. Highly recommend either. As mentioned, portions were generous so we really only needed one. The veal was actually chop or steak like. Cooked to perfection. 1 inch think. And the morel cream sauce was such a nice accompaniment. It was a nice leftover to bring back. The sea bass was also amazing. With the Thai Tom Yam sauce. Now, the Saks s'mores dessert was a show. And even though we were full, we made room for it. A nice sweet ending to a wonderful meal! We were given complimentary bread which was a nice start but ended up not ordering anything. We went there last night. It was virtually empty and the food was terrible. I think my tomato based lobster pasta was cooked using canned tomatoes. My girlfriend had the salmon and it was underwhelming to say the least. After we ordered the meals appeared at our table before the drinks arrived in less than two minutes. This made us guess the food was pre- prepared and even microwaved to heat up. The worst dining experience we have had in many years. Sadly we had the displeasure of paying for this experience. This place is fantastic but it's a little difficult to find unless you know what you're looking for because it's on the top floor of Saks Fifth Avenue. The staff is friendly and talented. They have an excellent selection of craft cocktails available. The views of the surrounding area are spectacular and I highly recommend visiting this wonderful restaurant. read more

This saks has pretty amazing shopping, but it turns out the top floor is also a great place to eat. Neimans restaurant has always been one of my favorites (the popovers alone are 5 stars) so I had high hopes for Saks. While it was a lovely atmosphere and a fun spot for my bday dinner I thought the food was just OK. The bread was good, but not popover good. I would have usually gotten a fish entree, but since it was my bday I decided to indulge and order the spicy lobster pasta. I worried it would be too spicy, but it didn't have much of a kick. The lobster in it was great..so good that my 13 year old ate 75% of it. Her friend mentioned that the pasta tasted very much like spaghetti and meatsauce and I agreed! My daughter ordered the burrata and veggies for her meal, which she thought was fine. My friend seemed to enjoy her miso salmon. Dessert was the best part! They very sweetly wrote happy bday on our cheesecake, which was my personal favorite dessert. And the girls enjoyed their some sort of smores creation. The key lime pie was a little disappointing, but 2 out of 3 great desserts is good! The location was perfect since it was walking distance from our hotel in Central Park and also walking distance to the theater. The hor d'oeuvres were delicious, which included slides that were each individually put into its own burger box. I come here a decent amount for after work drinks. It is very convenient for midtown, decent prices on the drinks, and has a large 2 floor layout (primary floor has more dining and a nicer bar, downstairs is the "Chalet" and is much much cozier). Can usually always walk in for drinks (except for maybe a busy Thursday night rush - recommend a reservation for lunch or dinner) Great interior design language on both floors. Staff is accommodating but usually is not the politest or fastest in terms of turning orders. Drinks and food are great though. This is a perfect spot for a mid shopping cocktail a catch up with a friend or even a business meal. Although the price tag is a little expensive, the experience is worth the price tag . The salad was very dry, needed dressing. The tuna tartare was delicious, wish they served it with chips. Chicken spring rolls were just ok, had an Indian/ Mediterranean taste. The steak was cooked perfectly but lacked taste. Sea bass was very good, served over a sauce that tasted similar to a Thai curry. Desserts we're disappointing, s'mores tasted burnt and the cheesecake was encased in a hard shell, soft and mushy on the inside. May 2023: After an early morning at the Met to see the Karl Lagerfeld and Van Gogh exhibits, I came out to a downpour so what's girl to do but go to Saks Fifth Avenue and shop! I decided to stop in to L'avenue for lunch. I didn't have a reservation but was able to find a seat at the bar as it was on the early side of noon. I highly recommend reservations. I started with foie gras because I love foie gras. For my main course, I had the morel rigatoni. I know...same dish as last time but it was so good so I had to order it again. It was so delicious! I was totally stuffed but couldn't pass up dessert. I ordered the raspberry shortcake. Not only was it one of the prettiest desserts I have ever eaten, it was totally delish! Really a 4.5, but I'm not that picky honestly. Let's go the full 5. We had an absolutely wonderful dinner here earlier this evening. Right off the bat I was stunned by the beauty of the space. You enter through a sexy, dark hallway only to then be let into a crisp, cozy, elegant room with some great views. Elegant is the word that permeated the evening - while never being stuffy. That's the perfect balance for me. The service was lovely. Attentive but not pushy or rushed. Our waiter was charming, efficient, and knowledgeable. All of the food was excellent. (And the cocktails!) For appetizers we had the butternut squash soup, the eggplant with burrata, and the shrimp dim sum. The dim sum was my favorite - so delicate and flavorful. The soup was also perfect for the season. My partner had the spicy lobster spaghetti, which she loved. I had the dover sole, which was very pricey, but perfectly prepared in the traditional sense. The mashed potatoes were outrageous. They also had an excellent selection of coffee/drinks and coffee cocktails. The London Fog was awesome. Just an all around wonderful, cozy experience. read more

I didn't have a reservation, and they were fine with that. The staff was welcoming. The service was excellent. It's such a relaxing place with beautiful sofas and a view of Rockefeller Center. They have really fancy bathrooms. I really enjoyed my soup, but the warm bread and butter was exceptional. I asked about the bread, and the chef said they order it from Bridor. Such a classy restaurant on the top floor of Saks. There's an entrance on the North side of the building. Walk down a beautifully carpeted hall to their grand salon. Service is impeccable. All of the dishes are presented beautifully and taste amazing to match. We were pleasantly surprised at how delicious the dumplings were of all items. The mashed potatoes were so buttery and the filet mignon was perfectly cooked. You cannot skip dessert as these are some of the most beautiful and decadent items on their menu. My experience at L'avenue was nothing less of exceptional. From the minute imI walked into the establishment theres a doorman who gets you settled into the elevator to be on your way up. The hostess was able to seat me at a table versus the bar since I wanted to order food and sit alone which I appreciated as most restaurants if you dine alone only offer bar seating. I was recommended by the waiter to order the tuna tartare and salmon and it was absolutely delicious. The tuna tartare was nothing out of the ordinary but I did enjoy eating fresh quality tuna The salmon is the star of the show. The sauce its paired with whoever the chef is does such a phenomenal job marinating it to really bring out the juicy flavors. I've never had a salmon this good - its considered miso flavored salmon which it truly is. 10/10 recommend and will be back! read more

The mushroom rigatoni was absolutely amazing. The pasta was cooked to perfection, and the mushroom sauce was a delightful complement. I couldn't finish my plate because I was so full. The chili and sea bass were excellent, with the perfect level of spice that made my dad scrape his plate clean.
