Made reservations for party of 14, was told if my event didn't have any seating available we could be seated in the private room. Once arrived, no table was ready, couldn't get the private room after all. Was told private room was for weekends only, there weren't' any servers available, was only open for training day and it wasn't clean, all the excuses they could think of; as on the website it states Monday - Thursday availability. They couldn't push the tables together because it was against their policy, had to sit 14 of my guests in separate tables where we couldn't enjoy all of us seating together. It was 8 at this time, was reserved at 7:30, they close at 9. So, to me, this showed they can't accommodate large party gatherings. Why don't they state that on the phone when talking to them? I booked over the phone, not online. I wouldn't book another event there and it was a very special occasion for my fiance' who is battling "C" and it was his birthday, another year of being blessed to have family and friends. We went to this location instead of our normal off of I-35 for my fiancé's birthday and it was pretty disappointing. We did say it was a birthday and never got some sort of special dessert and show (they usually do this for birthdays. Our waiter was not only slow to attend the table but took forever to get the check to us and kept forgetting to bring what we asked to the table. The issue, when my wife and mother in-law arrived, my wife was having trouble pushing my mother in law who was in her wheelchair through the front door. Our dinner at Pappadeaux's was fantastic, aside a few setbacks that ultimately kinda harped on the experience you could have, if they stepped up their game. We called in an hour ahead of time out to reserve a table, which was supposedly ready at 40 minutes into the hour. Upon arrival we were a little disappointed when the hostess told us they didn't have a reservation for us, and that we would be placed in line behind multiple groups that were already waiting. Once we got seated it just really seemed the staff was not attentive what so ever, we had to catch the waiter's attention while he walked by practically anytime we needed anything. The crab and spinach dip, and boudin came out... Both very delicious. The boudin had some spices on It that really made it pop. The Mardi Gras Pasta is definitely worth getting, The presentation was very beautiful. Although I was left thinking about how the shrimp tails were left on just for presentation. How many people want to dissect a shrimp before eating their pasta. That's coming from a person who's peeled over thousands of shrimp working in a kitchen (personally I don't care for it). Our medium rare steak came out blue rare... Not rare, BLUE RARE. For 50 dollars a steak you would think they could get the temperature of the steak correct. After receiving it the second time after sending it back, the steak was actually very delicious. Extremely tender, melt in your mouth goodness. All in all, the food was very good, and very filling. Wow, I really wish I had enough time to sit inside the restaurant and dine. However, I flew into the airport and have been dying to try this place. I had to be at my location by a certain time and decided TOGO was the best option. I ordered my food and even though I was 20 minutes late picking it up, the food was amazing. I ordered the crawfish etouffee and fried crawfish. The portion sizes are huge and I've been eating this meal for two days. Catfish was very, very, very undercooked even though my friend still ate it. I hope he didn't get sick. I was highly disappointed and their shrimp, half of them were not cleaned and I had to send them back. The shrimp that they brought back to me were also dirty. I did not send those back as I was over it. Mind you that's a very big pet peeve of mine. The crawfish was good even though it also contained fried oysters, which I hate. When I first arrived, I did look at the yelp reviews and I was wondering why are there reviews so low. And then I received my food and now I know why. I heard this is one of the popular seafood restaurants in Austin, so I gave it a try as a seafood lover. There was a 45 min wait when we visited (I believe it was Saturday afternoon) for tables, but we were able to grab seats right away at the bar after 35 mins or waiting. (which I can't tell if this place is worth to wait this long.) We started with cocktails and beer. For food, we got a dozen of fresh oysters as well as seafood platter which came with fried catfish, crab and some shrimps. It was about 36 dollars, but we thought the portion was a bit small. Otherwise, it was delicious. I wouldn't go back since neither my husband or I was impressed with anything particular, but it was not bad! read more

We went here to celebrate my friend's birthday. It was a very large party and we have never been to this location before. It has a very beautiful fountain outside and I really love the aesthetic. Overall, the service was really good and my kids really enjoyed the live lobster tank. Even when I told them that people eat those lobsters. The menu is very extensive and I would say that there's nothing bad on this menu. It seems to be very popular and we have only been here a handful of times. The portions are huge and everything tasted very fresh. It is pretty pricey but in this case I think you get what you pay for. They did have a special crawfish queso and it was very good going down but man that was painful the next day. It was very rich and cheesy so you might want to watch out for too much cheese and any of the dishes because seafood and cheese does not always go together. The roasted oysters were very delicious as well swimming in butter so why would they not be. The cocktails were pretty good. Also, we opted to only have one each and call it a day. read more

Ambiance-5 Service 2- lovely people, concerned and gracious. But slow. We arrived approximately 11:40 AM. The four of us ordered one appetizer and four of food. An hour and 20 minutes later, at 1:00 PM we had to leave before our dessert was served. Luckily one member stayed behind to grab it and pass it to us as we were driving away. I've been coming to this location for over 5 years! I'm surprised I have never done a review. Came here tonight for a friends birthday. It was a large party and we were 15 minutes early so we went to the bar. I was starving so I ordered the mozzarella bites! They were perfect!! Sergio and Alejandro were great. By the time the rest of our party arrived we weren't too hungry. My hubby and I split the fried catfish and fried shrimp platter. I've always loved Pappadeaux, but just don't get to go there very often. I've been craving stuffed shrimp and stuffed crab for a long time, and they're one of the few places in Austin that have them. I wasn't needing the entire "sampler" feast, but they were happy to create a special with just those 2 items plus a side. Great customer service, but man have they gotten expensive. This location does not hold up to the typical Pappadeaux standard that I am accustomed to. I've been to this location a few times. Tonight I decided to order to go as its prom season and restaurants are extra busy. I placed the order at 8:11 pm and parked to pick it up at about 8:45 pm. I ordered the Mississippi Catfish Opelousas, a kids catfish meal, a kids fried shrimp and tenderloin meal, blackened boudin and a side caesar salad. I parked in the to go spot, texted my spot number and waited. It didn't take long. The server was nice. She brought my food out and went back to get the bread I asked for. I was a little disappointed that it was cold and felt dried out a bit but it was fine. I drove home about 25 minutes away, sat down with my daughters and started to eat. My Opelousas was the last thing I touched. I took a few bites of the catfish and found a very long black straight piece of hair wrapped around the catfish and a few shrimp. I lost my appetite immediately!! One of my daughter's shrimp wasn't properly deveined. Quite gross! I tried calling about ten minutes before they closed but I didn't get through to anyone to resolve my issue. A manager did answer but we couldn't hear one another. He put me back on hold and the phone hung up. It was about closing time so I understood it may of been bad timing. For the money I spent, I should be able to enjoy my food. I will attempt to call back at opening time tomorrow. I'm very disappointed. Times before when I've dined in at this specific location, it's been subpar. This just takes the cake! Pretty good food today (6/10) but don't come if you're in a hurry or on a budget. 45-60 minute quoted wait. 65 minutes actual. Entrees (except for 2 that were missing) arrived 60 minutes after we sat down (about 45 from ordering). One of the missing entrees arrived in about 5. The other 10. The long wait was a kids meal and they comped it and a dessert. Would rather have a good experience at these prices. The etouffe was a little watery today. The mozzarella bites were great and the fondue was great. Fried crawfish was good, but those were the items we had to wait on. The filet mignon was good. Won't rush back based on this experience. The prices at this place have gotten exponentially higher while delivering significantly less food. The portions are not indicative of what you pay, and that's ridiculous! If my bill is 50+ dollars and all that was purchased was an app (spinach and crab dip) and an entrée (medium shrimp and Cajun chicken tenderloins) I fully expect a meal and bit a snack. I hadn't been in a while, but I distinctly remember the portions being sufficient and the tenderloins being more melt in your mouth soft and seasoned well... these were tough and bland...smh The medium shrimp and tenderloins cans with FIVE shrimp and THREE chicken tenderloins for $22.95... It's not worth it, in my opinion. You're seemingly paying for the name at this point. Absolutely pathetic! Will not be back! An old friend and I sat in the bar for dinner. I realize that is my mistake. Bartenders tend bar. They stink at serving food! It took nearly an hour to get our food. They never brought our appetizer at all. When we inquired about our food, the copped an attitude. There is a lot better service, for much better food, at a much more reasonable price. The manager could have cared less. Therefore they got a tip that was far "less" than normal! 0.53 cents! Beautiful environment. Reminds me of many great visits in the past. R had Stash beer and I had Signature Margarita. Only oysters they had were Gulf Coast, which I do not care for. R had a shrimp dish that was very good. I had a cup of seafood gumbo with sausage that was tasty and not exceptional. Additionally I had a catfish plate with rice and beans. Bland. The blackened catfish was almost tasteless. The batter on fried catfish had no flavor. The service was excellent. I had wanted to eat there for months since my wife's office is nearby. Went to celebrate 2 birthdays. Ordered a celebratory drink for my son. He was not 21, but TX law states a minor can drink in the presence of a parent. We wanted to celebrate with one drink. I've been there several times & never had a problem ordering a drink in the past. It's one drink with dinner. ONE DRINK. The manager refused to serve stating it was Pappadeaux's policy not to serve minors. We were disappointed but didn't make a fuss. My other son & I ordered drinks, & the manager came back & took away our drinks. He just grabbed them off the table & said the adult was also not allowed to drink for not following their policy. Son shows ID that he's over 21 & we got our drinks back. The manager continued to walk by & watch us throughout the course of our dinner to make sure we weren't ordering or sharing a drink with the minor. That entire experience made for a horrible special occasion dinner. The food is only mediocre, & after that experience, we definitely won't be going back. Not serving the minor was not the problem. It was the whole experience that followed afterwards that made us uncomfortable throughout dinner. read more

Grew up loving pappadeaux and they just keep getting better! We went last week with a party of 12 and they accommodated us right before closing too with a great server. The 5 stars is solely for their new pasta dish. They really give you huge pieces of FRESH crab and the scallops and shrimp were cooked perfectly *chefs kiss* coming back solely for this dish. We were celebrating a birthday in the family and Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen was the place to host it. This restaurant was easy to find and had plenty of parking (no valet). I noticed it had upgraded the interior decor to be more upper scale since the last time I ate here years ago. We had a big table reserved for all of us. Our dedicated server took our drink and food orders where I selected Stuffed Crab (2) with French Fries. We had kids with us and as usual making a slight mess, but the staff kept the table clean and organized. We were here in the early evening and did not see others with kids so got the impression this is more an adult restaurant. The kids did enjoy seeing the live lobsters and one of the kitchen chefs pulled one out for them to see. This was nice. Meanwhile our food arrived and everyone started to enjoy their meals. I had two crab cakes and they were delicious. It is one of my favorites and the top had a nice crust and the inside was soft and tasty. The fries were good too. I finished both and scraped the shell clean. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal selections. An additional surprise was a special desert provided by the restaurant with candle on it for the birthday boy. And no the staff did not sing Happy Birthday like other places but we did. Enjoyed lunch with a business colleague at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen last week. First time there in several years... it was as good as ever! From the smiling, cheerful hostess, to the awesome waiter, and the friendly food delivery staff, all A+! My colleague had the shrimp po'boy, which was a monster sandwich, a foot long piece of French bread, stuffed with at least two dozen fried shrimp, served with fries on the side. It looked delicious, I had a sample, it was awesome! I had the fresh catch of the day, a blackened grouper, with lump crab meat and grilled shrimp on top, with a zucchini squash side. Delicious! Full disclosure: The adage of under promise and over deliver definitely could be affecting my review here! I wasn't so impressed by Pappadeux's. When told about the place, I expected a more historical pampas room type feel and what I got was more of an exclusive Sizzler feel. The food was pretty mediocre/decent. Not bad. I had the lobster and ribeye and the calamari and it was on par with Olive Garden or red lobster (not that I frequent those joints or would brag about it!;) The overall of service was 3.5-4. Very kind but definitely felt like this is a busy place and you are just another table. Sorry Texas, I'm not a fan of Pappadeux ‍ PS - this should have been a tell - when we arrived to the restaurant we took a picture in front of the sign and an old lady said "what are you taking a pic of that for??!"
