Hands down one of the best seafood restaurants you'll find anywhere - this chain does it as good as any of those that take on the picky palates of seafood worshippers. I grew up eating seafood, I've probably eaten more seafood than all the other food groups combined, since my family were avid fishermen and shrimpers a lot of those memories return as I devour all I care too when I dine at a Pappadeauxs. I'm sure I was licking my lips and probably drooling when I found out this restaurant was in close proximity to the campground we were staying at recently. This restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived but it was obvious they have taken every precaution to ensure their employees and the customers are safe and their ready to go when the restrictions are lifted - social distancing has become the norm here, the pavers were labeled to accommodate and spread out those waiting for seating and the tables were spaced so everyone could dine comfortably, the servers wore their mask and stood a few feet from the table when speaking. This restaurant was very clean and organized, the staff was respectful and thankful and the managers were visibly engaged with their staff and customers on the floor. Seafood and alcohol - a mammoth frozen Swampthing and a hot bowl of dark roux shrimp gumbo to start things out, if you've haven't experienced either it's best to pair them and never look back. Everything looks good on this modified menu it's a Covid thing I'm told, the smaller number of selections wasn't disappointing since everything I've eaten here was put together exceptionally well. I have been going to Pappadeaux's for 20+ years and over the past few years the biggest consideration that I've noticed is that the portion sizes are dramatically smaller. I just ordered the catfish Oppselases plate which is a $40 and the catfish is half the size of what it was 20 years ago. I think this is why on a Friday night I am only seeing 50% of the tables full. They have definitely cut back on the portion sizes. I would recommend searching for a mom and Pop Cajun restaurant where you might get better value for your dollar. read more

Enjoyed a great lunch here on a busy busy Saturday afternoon. There was a very long wait, but most restaurants on a nice Saturday is busy. My cousin and I ordered probably too much food, but we enjoyed every bit and still had enough for leftovers. We had the crap and spinach dip and alligator bits for appetizers. I visited this location with a friend on a Saturday evening. It's been years since I've been in this restaurant. A band played outside, which was impressive in this heat. Inside, there was a large crowd and a long wait. With a reservation, we waited 15 minutes to be seated. Others were given wait times of 45 minutes plus. Well it was a nice day on a Friday night to go out. This place was busy no Table reservations. They do have plenty of parking and a nice atmosphere. Well let's start with the bad. I sat at the bar with my coworker . By the time I had arrived my coworker had ordered a few items off the menu. She said to me I'm a little agitated and you will find out why soon enough. Well I was there about 15 minutes before the server even acknowledged me. What I noticed is that this young lady , our server Ms. Dominique paid more time attention and detail to all the male customers over us. This went on for the whole duration of our time there. She did follow up to the male customers to ask them if they need anything else how was their food and she did not do this for us. My coworker added extra shrimp to her meal when she ordered which Dominique forgot. After my coworker received her meal their was no extra shrimp. Dominique added the shrimp by the time we receive the shrimp we were done with our meal and my coworker did not want it. We really wish we had someone else as a server because it appeared that everyone else was getting excellent customer service but us. As a result of the poor customer service it reflected in the tip that I gave her. I really hope that this is an isolated incident and that she does not treat all of her female customers this way. I hope she improves! What did I love about this place! The food! The food! Is always excellent! I believe I had the trout with the spinach. I highly recommend. Our family loves Pappadeaux! We went last weekend for my Mother in Law's birthday and there was a large party making a ton of noise. The manager Stephen Mathis was very gracious and worked very hard to make it right for us. Sat at the bar and my server Samantha set me up with a dozen Blue Point Oysters...delicious. For dinner I went with the Pasta Mardi Gras...linguine with crawfish, andouille sausage, and cremini mushrooms in a marinara cream sauce and the topped with jumbo grilled shrimp. Server was good. Food was good. I spent $100 on two entrees, a side, and a beer. The food was pretty good actually but is it 2.5x better than Red Lobster? Nah. Red Lobster includes cheddar biscuits. This place has ...nicer tables I guess. I got a fish and salad with a side of cheese grits. My wife got bacon wrapped shrimp on dirty rice which included 6 shrimp wrapped in bacon. She got full from the dirty rice. I enjoyed my mahi mahi and bocchini salad with it. The serving size was appropriate for me. The cheese grits for $6 were not worth it. It wasn't cheesy or creamy enough and had corn bits in it. I was ok with it but my wife didn't love it. The grits at Fly Biscuit are way better. My wife enjoyed the dirty rice more than the shrimp wrapped bacon. She took half of it to go. We did try the cheesy bites, alligator bites, and calamari. The appetizers were all adequate and nothing special. The fried batter made it all taste the same. I wouldn't be able to differentiate the fried stuff without the different sauces. Our issue was that this place doesn't take reservations and they wouldn't seat all of us until we all showed up at the exact time. We had 15 people that showed up at different times. We got split into three tables for a birthday party. This place is not fancy enough to enforce a strict policy like that. We tried to move the tables together and the manager was going to ask us to leave. The  approach could've been better. The manager wouldn't accommodate us but across the room there was clearly a birthday party table that was even larger than ours. She told us that their table was prebuilt and doesn't split for that party. ...right. Blame Covid. The same server covered all three tables anyway. So they won't let us make a reservation for 15 people but won't accommodate all 15 people unless they all show up at the exact same time? It's almost 2022. Have you guys thought about investing in a reservation system like OpenTable, Resy, or Google? Would I come here again? Nope. I pretty much don't want to go to a place that's more than $30 a plate and doesn't take reservations and won't accommodate a big group even though they said they would on the phone. You risk being separated awkwardly if you have more than 6 people. Free dessert for the birthday person though. Spend 1/3 price at Red Lobster for 1/2 quality. read more
