Wow! Had a fantastic dinner at Pappos in downtown Springfield. Our waiter was awesome and friendly. We ordered two individual pizzas -- Hawaiian and white pizza -- with a dozen fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. The pizzas were outstanding, especially the caramelized pineapples on my hawaiian pie. The cookies were so amazing, I shared them with our hotel staff and they were thrilled. The new cook made a few small mistakes which were immediately remedied by the waiter and they took ownership of everything and made everything more than right. We were just passing through but I gotta say that Pappos was the most memorable part of our 12 hour road trip. read more

We stopped in here for lunch one day in the mood for pizza. The menu here has endless options from specialty pizzas to build your own. And there was a lunch special of an 8" pizza (two toppings and choice of hand-tossed or thin crust) with a salad and drink for $10. We started with the garlic cheese bread. It was simply amazing. It came with red sauce for dipping. (It's hard to impress me with red sauce and this stuff was GOOD!) We both got the lunch special with the goat cheese, cranberries, and walnut salad - but be forewarned: if you don't like lemon, you will hate this, because it is heavy on the lemon zest. I'm not a huge fan of lemon, but this dressing really grew on me and was good with the candied walnuts, craisins, and goat cheese. We both also tried the hand tossed pizza with pepperoni and garlic. The pizza is also very good and we were full after just two pieces each. Before we left, we decided to get an order (half dozen) of their brown-butter chocolate chip cookies. They are baked to order and came out of the over still gooey and were soooo delicious. We saved them and had them for breakfast the next day at the hotel. Great Pizza. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Ordered online. Arrived 10 minutes after receiving a text that the pizza was ready. Had to double park as no parking available (not Pappos fault). Then stood at counter for 10 minutes while counter staff took someone some marinara sauce, poured Cletus a Bud, took an online order, delivered TWO food delivery service orders that arrived after me, then turned around and handed me the pizza that was within arms length the whole time. This is the second consecutive time this has happened. Not going back. THE PIZZA WAS GREAT. I imagine the dine-in-service was fine. The customer service, however, makes me recommend go elsewhere. read more

Anyway, we all ordered different personal pizzas so we could mooch off each other. Two of our favorites were from the specialty pizzas section: Chicken Bacon Cheddar and the "Spicy" Chicken Cholula.
