Chili verde Grandma Trini's Fries Lunch

The food was plentiful, exactly what I was craving, and tasted really good. The Denver omelette and the chili verde fries were both delicious.

I hadn't been to Pappys in years! The last time I'd went I literally sank into the booth seating, making me just about eye level with the table and my plate of French toast. Recently a friend of mine told me he'd brought his family to Pappys and I asked him if their seats had been fixed. He said yes so the very next morning I woke up my lazy teen and preteen kids and carted us all to Pappys. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The kids were captivated by all of the decor in the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was enamored by the feeling of nostalgia, I'd missed the place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated in a booth (that I didn't fall into) and given nice, new menus (I found a typo btw).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We all decided to get the Freedom toast...of course I went with the stuffed option. The kids loved everything. I loved my freedom toast and eggs but my potatoes came out cold, like they'd been left sitting in the kitchen while they cooked the rest of our food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I am happy that they fixed their seating because now we have another great breakfast spot to matriculate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Although it was a bit expensive ($70+ for 3), I know everything is nowadays.

Had a great Breakfast at Pappy's Coffee Shop The atmosphere was super cozy and inviting -- perfect spot to kick back and enjoy some good food. The memorabilia added to the history of Bakersfield. Shoutout to our server absolutely on-point Friendly, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. Service like that always elevates the experience. And let's talk about the food The chili verde skillet was delicious, loaded, flavorful, and straight up mouth-watering delicious. Every bite hit just right. My wife's chicken fried steak was also good. I've had chicken fried steak at different restaurants and they are all pretty much the same. Solid food, great service, good vibes. Definitely a spot worth checking out if you're in Bakersfield and want a Coffee Shop that serves a traditional breakfast, then this is your spot.

Everything was perfectly funkalicious!! They even had my favorite Hot Sauce!! I'm trying to cut down on carbs and had a perfect 3-egg omelette that substituted Avocado and Cottage Cheese for hash browns and toast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Excellent service / Historical atmosphere and great food ~ with breakfast until 1pm!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] .....I'm in love .....with Pappy's....!!

Yep this was an American breakfast. I got the stuffed FREEDOM toast. Proud to be an American, getting one bite closer to diabetes lol. The cream cheese cut down on the sweetness, it was good. The service was quick and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Definitely a quirky restaurant with the taxidermy animals on the walls, they just need to upkeep on the dining furniture.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Food was delicious and fast even though it was busy! The waitress was friendly and always there with hot coffee. The French toast is called freedom toast and was so good! They had a variety of creamers. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is fun with lots of things to look at.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]You'd think it'd be dusty, but it was clean and bright.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

There was a small line upon arrival, however they were quick. It took a bit for them to take our order after we ordered our drinks, but it didn't take too long much after for the food to come. The food was delicious and not pricy for the amount of food they gave us. We will definitely be back again!

(mind the dutch bros in the pic lol) i went with a couple of friends for brunch and it was alright! i order a spinach omelette with hashbrowns and they gave me country potatoes which i was perfectly fine with. but then we ordered waffles and they gave us pancakes which again we were fine with butttt what i wasnt fine with was everything was just a little subpar. my friends and i all ordered omelettes and they were all bland and needed salt, which i was really disappointed by because this place is such a classic.

    Combo skillet, delicious !!

It was my son's Birthday and this is where he wanted to have breakfast. We were a large group of 15 , and they were able to accommodate us . For being extremely busy that didn't stop them from coming and refilling our drinks , I was impressed ! My husband had the chicken fried steak and I had the combo skillet , oh my goodness everything was so delicious !! Dolores was our incredible server , beyond friendly and quick with our order. Can't wait to come back !!

Absolutely LOVE this place. We always come here for breakfast whenever it is a family member's birthday or of course if we're craving their breakfast food. It's just a different vibe here like everyone's one big family. We ordered the Hobo Omelette, Cheese Omelette, and the Hawaiian Freedom Toast! I had the Hobo Omelette and it tasted so good. Very filling as well. I was full for most of the time actually. We came in at 8am and I didn't eat my next meal until 5pm!!! I was stuffed but happy. Service is always great! Our server always checked in on us asking if we needed anything :)

If you love breakfast foods, you definitely can't go wrong by going here. I always struggle with what to choose because everything is so good! If you have a sweet tooth, the B-N-W waffle which has banana, Nutella, and walnuts for the toppings would be a great choice. The chilaquiles with any choice of meat is incredibly flavorful and one of my favorites on the menu. I also appreciate their extensive drinks menu as you can choose anything from a michelada to a latte. At this specific downtown location, the service is always great. The servers are friendly, attentive, and always make sure you're satisfied with your food/drinks.

We finally decided to try Huevo House, and with a name like that I was expecting both cuisines, but I wasn't expecting the Mexican flavors to be this good! The menu was a decent size--one side for breakfast and the back for lunch. I didn't look at the lunch side, but the breakfast options were great: plenty to choose from without feeling overwhelming. They serve pozole on Fridays and Saturdays and menudo on Sundays. The pozole was full of flavor and honestly one of the highlights of our visit. Thank goodness we finally found a place that satisfies us both! I ordered the Country Benedict and he ordered the Brunchiladas--both dishes were delicious and came in generous portions. We also tried the Abuelita Latte and the Mazapán Latte. Both were very good, just on the sweeter side, so if you're not into sweet coffee definitely ask for half sweet. Our server was attentive and informative. She took great care of us and even made conversation, which added to the overall experience. Overall, such a good visit. We'll definitely be back!

Our waitress was very sweet and friendly, but it seemed like she could use a little more training or help staying organized. We waited quite a while just to place our order. The vibes in the new space are absolutely immaculate. There is so much more energy here, and the decorations are incredibly cute. It's the perfect backdrop for a killer meal. The Main Event: This time around, I went with the En Fuego Burger. This beast is loaded with a chile-spiced beef patty, pepperjack, sharp cheddar, thick-cut bacon, chipotle mayo, pepper relish, pickled jalapeños, and a mountain of fried jalapeños + onion strings. The Flavor Profile: This burger delivers on every level, but those fried onion strings were to die for. For the side, I got the sweet potato fries, which are served as big, thick-cut wedges. They come paired with a duo of spicy ketchup and a marshmallow dipping sauce. Switching between the two was amazing, the marshmallow sauce actually makes the fries feel like a dessert. The Drink: To wash it all down, I ordered the basil lemonade, and omg, I need to figure out how to recreate this at home. It's exactly what it sounds like, crisp, refreshing lemonade with a perfect herbal basil finish. The Verdict: If you loved their old spot, the new location takes everything to the next level. Between the upgraded atmosphere, the dessert-like fries, and that refreshing lemonade, I will absolutely be coming back here again and again.

SMITTENS STAPLE IS THEIR ABILITY TO MISS THE FLAVOR IN EVER SINGLE DISH…read more Update: coming back after some palate development... smitten is one of the most tasteless restaurants in town. Their hype was definitely due to the 'aesthetic'. Nothing is really outstanding to me. The drinks are such a let down, the coffee is borderline yuck.. do not recommend. Everything is quite unmemorable. Service is whatever, sometimes mid, sometimes bad. Nothing outstanding. Ambiance.... well... this one has been replicated one too many times. The food is heavily missing flavor, the hummus is disgusting. I can't believe they call that thing hummus, it's an insult to actual dish.. it's almost like it was trying to imitate the real dish, but failed terribly in even attempting to. Their pizza tasted like play-doh and looked very pale. Smitten is at least consistent with one thing, which is their staple: no flavor. One of the breaking points for me was being served food that had someone's HAIR. The restaurant is very expensive for the poor experience they have to offer. I stopped recommending them a long time ago.
