If you're familiar with drink prices in the Scottsdale / PV area, you'll be happy you found Paradise Lounge. Drinks are priced at where you'd expect them to be priced. They have a smoking patio and a couple dart boards as well a live music a few days a week. The only small complaint I have is the lack of a food menu. They have small appetizers but if you want to watch the game with a nice sandwich or pizza, you need to bring it with you, which they actually allow/encourage. The Paradise Lounge is the perfect place for people who are easy going, relaxed, and just want to have a good time. The bartenders are friendly and fast, the prices are fair, and the bathrooms are as clean as you can get in a bar. There is a good-sized patio in the back that allows you to sit outside and get to know all the regulars who come to this place. Whether you come to the Lounge once a week or once a year, you are treated like family. If you need some entertainment, come in every other Sunday night for karaoke. They have board games and cards you can play. There are bands there several nights a week. Or just listen to the stories of the people around you, they won't mind! Always a great place to stop in for a drink while shopping in the PV Mall area. No one stares at you when you walk in. Just walk in, sit down, and enjoy good service and drinks. This dark dive has been around for a long time. I have many memories here. After my college graduation, instead of having a big party with lots of people, I chose to go here with my husband and day drink. :) The bartenders are always very friendly and the drinks are usually very cheap but... I would ask about the price of certain pitchers of beer before purchasing one. Certain brands are shockingly pricey. Always has been a good experience for the last 4 years celebrating family birthdays. Tonight was different. There was not live music and atmosphere was clicky an uninviting. Bartender by hand squeezed our limes in our drinks during first round. Stayed to enjoy music with friends, but turning up too loud was considered not okay. Had a few drinks and music. I bought two tank tops and was approached by bouncer after check was paid and asked to leave by order of bartender. My husband had paid the check and was giving cash for tip. Very offended and saddened as we are small business owners by this unprofessional behavior. Bartender should wait for the tip not expect it. read more

This is your traditional neighborhood bar. There are regulars known by all. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. Service is fast and friendly. The food is typical bar fare but it's delicious and there's plenty of it. Community minded, ask about their Christmas in July event where they raise money for No kill animal shelters. They have an outside area for smokers. They are tucked back in the corner of the strip mall on Cactus, West of Thunderbird next to Party City and behind 31 Flavors. Try it, you'll like it. read more

Definitely a hole in the wall bar. All the bartenders are nice and they have cheap specials. They have board games (which is unique and fun), darts, and arcade games. Some nights they have live local musicians and they play the games on Sunday. Nothing fancy and very tiny, in fact most of the time you will have to order food out b/c they don't have much. The food they do have fried pickles and iguana balls(chicken balls) are really good. Just kind of boring as far as bars go with crappy country music and usually not a lot of ppl in there. read more

This is a nice little neighborhood bar tucked in the corner of a strip mall. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is very well done. Beautiful bar, wood panels, televisions with sports games, everything you would expect. There were several people in there but it wasn't crowded. I suspect that this place can get very busy on weekends. This Monday night crowd seemed to be all regulars and people who were getting off of work nearby. The bartender was very nice. He made a great drink and asked if I wanted a short or a tall. I am always a "short" guy when it comes to my cocktails so I really appreciated being asked. We headed out to the nice covered patio in back. It's a small patio, but nicely done for what they had to work with (remember this is a strip mall). It was clean, had heaters if we wanted them and a large television out there with the game on. The bartender came out to see if we needed another round. Another nice touch for a neighborhood bar. We stayed for two cocktails and then headed home. I will certainly come back here again. Enjoy! read more

This place was such a good find! It was my turn to choose something for date night and I was looking for an open mic night somewhere and landed on this place. We didn't take part in the open mic night, but it was still fun to watch! They have a lot of really great beer options available, and the best part about this place is their token system. They have a $15 minimum if you're paying with a card and if you don't reach that, you can pay for a few extra drinks and you'll get some tokens that you can bring back and use for your drinks next time. Totally awesome. Their menu looks really good and unique too! They also have a lot of games - darts, video golf, and tons of board games. This place is definitely a hole in the wall. It's kind of behind the Baskin Robbins, to the left of the party store. Also, the staff is really awesome. We came back for open mic night a week later and they remembered us and our drink orders! I knew instantly when I first strolled through the Lounge's doors almost 2 years ago that I was home. This bar is Cheers for me, only the bartenders at the Paradise Lounge are better looking than Sam Malone. The Gorgeous Gals behind the bar, know what I'm having without even having to ask. Many times, I don't even have to ask for a refill, they just magically appear with a bottle right at the exact moment when I've come to the realization that I'll be needing another one because somebody's just started a game of Apples to Apples. The Lounge has been incredibly accommodating when I've hosted numerous 'Watch Parties' for my Alumni Association. They've even opened up a few hours early for us a couple of times. Everyone who comes has a great time and loves coming back. They even put us up on the Big Screen when other, more notable games, are on. The regulars are one of the best parts too. The conversation is always fun & even though it's sounds kinda corny, there really is a family sort of atmosphere that develops when you spend enough time here. This bond stretches across race, income level, & job titles. If you're chill enough to hang at the Lounge, then you're most likely somebody worth talking to. I can honestly say that I've made some real friends out on that patio. Heads up to any newcomers though, that back table is spoken for. Unless you're a hot chick, or went to Washington State, then we might let it slide. The entertainment value is high as well. From the juke box, to the live music (several nights a week), to the people themselves. One of my favorite things about the Lounge (aka the PL) is the assortment of board & trivia games. It's amazing how much fun trivial pursuit can be at 11 o'clock on a Friday night. Not to mention the Grill Your Own Meat & Chili Cook-off on Super Bowl Sundays. It truly does feel like a family reunion, albeit a dysfunctional one. One other awesome quirk is that they actually let you bring in food. How many other places let you do that? They've got some great bar food (try the Iguana Balls), but if you want to order a pizza & wings, they'll not only give you a phone #, they'll even give you a freakin' coupon! I know right? True story. You can even swing through the Mickey D's just outside on your way in if you want. The only rule is, no outside drinks. So if you're looking for a great place to unwind after work, watch the game, or just cause you don't go wanna home just yet, stop on in to the Lounge. A friend asked me to find a place to meet when I happened to be in the area. Yelp showed me "Paradise Lounge". When I looked at the map I thought "there's not a bar in there". Well, there is! It's a bit hidden between/behind the Party City and some other store, but it's a hidden gem! I just happened to get there just before 2pm. Door locked, what? Just then the bolt is thrown. Went to this bar last night since it was close to my apt. and rec'd decent reviews from Yelpers.......NOT!! I have never been so obviously ignored since my days in Southie (a well known anti-black area of Boston). I paid for my drink and the bartender placed my change in front of the guy sitting next to me. Ok, simple mistake, I thought. Watched the game and once my drink was done I saw her talk to her cadre of friends for over 20 minutes before I got another one...and it was the guy sitting next to me who bought me one and apologized for the now noticeble slight. When my drink arrived, I questioned the delay (4 people at the bar and maybe 9 in the whole place), the bartender asked me to leave. I walked and will NEVER return. Don't know why this place is rated so high. It sucks... read more

Love this place. Just stumbled in yesterday and Judy the bartender made me feel welcome like I had been a regular for years. They don't have a huge selection of liquor but they have all of the essentials and they have enough high end stuff to make me happy. I dont think as a bar you need to carry every vodka known to man but I would like to see something more than Smirnoff and Stoli. Although I am not a smoker myself, their back patio is really cool. Again not the nicest patio in the valley but I love that they make the most of this small space with creative furniture and a real cozy feel. They have a ton of board games which I think is really great. They have a few dart boards, a necessity for any bar. I think they thing I like most is Judy was telling me about all of the fun activities and events the owners plan for their customers. I guess when Betty White hosted SNL last spring they had a big viewing party there. And this past Monday Night during the Packers-Bears game they had Brats for the Cheese-Heads and Real Chicago dogs for the Bears fans. What a creative and fun idea. Another thing I live about this place is a wonderful, 30 ft long wooden bar. You have got to see this thing. It's fantastic. I guess the only think I can think of why they dont get 5 stars is because they dont open until 2pm every day. I am sure there is a good reason for it. but with slightly limited hours I can't give 5 stars. Having said that I think I will roll over for a drink about now. I love this little bar. We come here with friends to have cheap drinks, play board games and darts, and have a great time. The bartenders have always been kind and surprisingly understanding when I can't decide between a Fat Tire or OJ and vanilla vodka. Great little dive bar hidden in a strip mall across Cactus from the Paradise Valley Mall with a bit of a Chicago theme. Happy hour drinks are cheap ($2.25 for a pint of Coors Light) and they have a good selection of craft beers. Decorated in a sort of tropical theme they have a stack of board games near the end of the bar although I didn't see anyone playing anything but electronic darts. Bartender and the patrons were really friendly. The smoking patio out back is surrounded by 3 walls, covered with a canopy and equipped with fans and a TV. Their bar top "menu" does not offer much for food, but they do allow patrons to order food in from the menus they keep handy. We didn't stay for the live music but it appears they have it almost every night and they have specials on Sundays during football season. I am already planning on leaving my husband who hates shopping here while I'm at the mall and then joining him later. He! He! He! read more

Tucked away nicely in a strip mall across the street from Paradise Valley Mall, its' almost hidden door keeps out most of the riff-raff. So, what you end up with is a solid neighborhood bar in a pretty nice area. Large, enclosed smoking patio for those so inclined, fair drink prices, assorted board and table games, the largest Jenga game I've ever seen, darts and especially Golden Tee. This place is super fun. The bartenders are nice, quick, and the drinks are seriously cheap. But cheap isn't bad here. The best part, and the reason I love this place, besides cheap drinks and yummy French fries, is they have board games! Some are a bit outdated, (who knew I'd be so good at '80s trivial pursuit?), but it's still pretty sweet to get tipsy while playing Jenga. read more

What a great little neighborhood bar! The bartender was super friendly and great about checking back to see if I needed anything. I love the creatively-named jello shots, and I did notice a huge stack of games to play. What a great idea! I will absolutely come back with some friends to play some Jenga or Apples to Apples.
