So I came in here on a Thursday around 10 am. I didn't think there was that many people. I like the fact that is pick and go and you get to grab what you want. By the time I got there, there was very limited options of pastries. I settled on a fruit tart, coffee bun, ham and Swiss croissant, and a prosciutto sandwich. I had gotten up to the register and ordered the sandwiches and a coffee. The guy at the counter told me they would call me when my stuff was ready. Shortly after they called me to grab my coffee and I went to sit back down. I waited for about 5 minutes and walked back up to the counter to ask about my sandwich and the gentleman asked me "What sandwich?"....... I was like the sandwiches I ordered... the guy who rang me up didn't even remember what I ordered. He then proceeded to warm up my sandwich. I feel like he burnt the croissant, it definitely tasted burnt. I was really hoping this would be a nice bakery for me to try out since it was so close to work. I don't think I will be back. 1st time checking this spot out...and I was very confused about what to do. Since I wasn't greeted when I entered I kinda wondered around for a bit... before seeing that it was self serve. You're suppose to grab a tray, place a wax paper on it, and then grab tongs to grab your selection of treats. It really would have been nice to have been greeted and then guided on what to do since there were enough staff there. They do have a lot to choose from, unfortunately not very vegan friendly....at least I didn't see any options. The croissant I did opt for claimed to be chocolate, but had a tiny bit of chocolate inside so I almost thought I had grabbed the wrong one. They do get busy however, so if you're thinking of ordering anything for a holiday, I would check in with them a week or two ahead of time. Love this bakery!!! I'm so happy they came to Carlsbad. We frequent this place almost biweekly and the quality of their items have always been consistently delicious. I've been to other locations too and this one is always so clean. It's spacious and always organized. We love the ham and cheese croissant, the jalapeño cheese croissant, the egg tarts, the curry croquettes, the fruit tarts, red bean bread, chocolate bread, pizzas, cheesecakes, sandwiches, strawberry cream cake and chocolate and vanilla teddy bears! I'm sure there's more I'm missing but we order here a lot. We got cakes from here for birthday parties and the boxes are so study and they even offer cake knives and candles. You can preorder online as well. The staff is always so friendly and I love that you can look into the kitchen. They work so hard preparing the baked goods and they do such a great job. Absolutely recommend the orange zest "croissant donut." It's easily a viral TikTok away from Paris Baguette having lines out the door. In general, I've never had a pastry I didn't like. They're all pretty amazing and surprisingly, rarely out of stock. Coffee is just OK. You just sort of get it because it's there. Expensive! Getting a box of pastries and coffee will set you back an uncomfortable amount. You'll see the price and be like, "Maybe, this is a special occasion kind of place..." Service is not the greatest. They're not at all unfriendly, just sort of aloof? I don't know how else to describe it. Lots of younger people working there and they just seem scattered and a bit slow. As for ambiance, its fine. It's always packed and busy. I wouldn't want to sit inside (if I could even find a seat), and sitting outside is kind of lame as you'd be near the parking lot. Today is Sunday Dec 7th. We've been to the bakery many times but we were really disappointed today. We were there at 2pm, and shelves were bare. We ordered a drip coffee and a decaf americana. First it took a long time and most the coffee orders were mixed up. Several people waiting for their coffee. An Americana Coffee has steamed milk on top, ours did not , just straight black and very bitter. Very disappointed. Just wonder if it's under new management! And they charged us 50cents more for an Americana that we didn't get. read more

Happy that this bakery is finally local to us! Located in the Vons shopping center on El Camino Real across from the Shoppes at Carlsbad mall, we decided to check out this location. We arrived around 9:30am on Thursday morning and parking wasn't easy. However, the bakery wasn't too busy. There were a few people dining in but was quiet. We got our tray, put the wax paper on it, and grabbed our tongs. There were a good selection of both savory & sweet pastries. We chose the hotdog wrapped in bread, ham & cheese croissant, fried rice donut covered in cinnamon sugar with bean filling and the curry croquette. They were all flavorful and delicious with a good texture except for the ham & cheese croissant. It looked like they only put 1 super thin slice of ham in it and the cheese was baked on top of the croissant which made the top too hard to our liking. Checking out was easy, there's full cakes and individual slices in the refrigerated case by the check out counter as well as full size sandwiches. The girl at the register was nice & friendly and boxed up our treats. Was a good first experience at this location. Will definitely be returning for their coffee drinks & for more treats! read more

My first time here came in for a donut on Donut Day and left with various pastries. It is nice to have a new place to go to in the area for coffee and a treat. They have an area where you get a tray and put the items you want on the tray. They also have slices of cake for sale in the cabinet up front as well. I thought the prices were high on some items, $4 donuts, but the chocolate cake slice was only $6. I picked up the sweet rice ball with red bean, it was yummy with cinnamon sugar on the outside. We tried the chocolate cake, it was ok not overly sweet. The girls behind the counter were nice and helpful. They were talking about boyfriends while I was deciding what to pick up.
