Get duck tacos at Toasted, walk the pier then warm up to a sugary donut! Free street parking after 6, be sure to read the signs well. Love you Oceanside!!!!! Wanna spend the whole day downtown? Parking next to this place is $5 all day. We walked, was a nice night. We took our friend, Javiar (photo) to walk the Pier (super close to Parlor's) and headed back to car, realizing how close we were, 15 mins before close... no time to talk myself out of a sugar coma, it'd been a year since we splurged on unhealthy donuts so we went for it. $30 for 13, they were closing, we wanted 5, they said buy two more and we'll give you a box for free. So we did. Bam, 13 for $30. Barely could finish 1/2 of two donuts (more for later though *wink*). Really any donut with bacon is the best, but the caramel one in our surprise box was the true star (possibly caramel bourbon). I did taste a tiny bite of each one lol so that's probably why I couldn't the winning donut. Was glad to get to try different ones, but the rest weren't that grand. Truly a personal preference situation here in which ones are yummy though. Our choice box: - Campfire was creative but very bland - Maple bacon was splendid, but aren't ALL things with bacon?! - same - cookies n cream was ranked third and was the finally one that was yummy 'worth the calories' delight. - turtle cheesecake, cheesecake part was actually TOO sweet. And would love to see it with just pecans, the peanuts robbed all the flavor. Made it a dry donut. - another cookie n cream - carnival (didn't try, was ate up before I had a chance) Surprise box: - maybe French toast? Was dry n bland - reg turtle... way too dry. Not good. Lose the peanuts would help 100%. They rob the flavor. - maybe caramel bourbon? Was the STAR donut. So good! - glazed, too dry. bland - mint choc. Dry but minty - raspberry pistachio possibly?, was too dry Again, we came near closing time on a whim. So that could be why so many were super dry. Quite expensive even with the 6 free since only 3-4 were fresh tasting. But they are BIG donuts so maybe go for a box of Bacon, caramel, and cookie cream ones if it's later in the day, since they were NOT dry at all and really really yummy! Three FULL stars for the 3 top donuts, 2 missing stars for the 9 dry (some even blah) ones. I wanna try strawberry next. We'll go again since there's so many more we've not tried. The good: Can't beat these donuts for flavor, technique and style! Delicious! I had the raspberry pistachio and it was a little crunchy on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside. Well balanced between sweet and tart. The dough tastes great and you can tell it's fresh. Areas that need improvement: We went on a Saturday afternoon and the shop needed some TLC. There were 4 young men working and they were all kinda just hanging behind the counter chatting. I had to let them know that the water station was dry. One guy kinda looked at me like "what do you want?" Before another came over to help. When you have 4 guys working, the bathroom and trash cans should have looked way better. All the outside trash cans were full and the tables could have been cleaner. The bathroom was rough too! There was even a list on the door of the cleaning tasks but doesn't look like anyone had done it that day. I can understand in the morning rush things getting overlooked but at almost 2pm there was no line and those things should have been taken care of. Toilet scrubbed, supplies restocked, etc. looked like these young guys needed someone managing them closer. read more

Wow, these were really something special! I would say these donuts are a mix between croissant, donut, and brioche. They're much less greasy than "Cronuts" but they do have have the flaky, light, slightly chewy, airy texture like the center of a croissant or brioche. The outside is crispy without being oily. Blueberry was my favorite of the three, not overly sweet and good texture. Maple bacon and french toast had the same airy flaky layers but just different toppings but too sweet from the icing. I am obsessed with Parlor! Every time I have been here it has been spectacular. The staff is all super friendly and helpful. The donuts are insanely good and I can't stop craving them and coming back. I would say it's like a once a month ritual I just wake up craving Parlor and have to go. We visited this place 4 times in 4 days. We got the cinnamon sugar minis almost every day of our vacation. They are delicious, especially with the maple dipping sauce.
