Not to be too hasty as I just moved to SC a day ago, but I think I may have already found my fave indulgence. To start with, definitely recommend a reservation, and so glad we did. First dining experience ever here, and it did not disappoint. We love a good caprese salad, but nothing could've prepared us for this! Having come from Hawaii, fresh produce isn't so abundant, and great tomatoes are definitely one thing that we don't get there. The mix of soft burrata, fresh tomatoes, pesto and olive oil paired with the fluffiest and perfectly toasted house ciabatta was next level. My husband got the bbq chicken pizza - pizza is his love language - and he hailed it as the best bbq chicken pizza ever tried. I think the combo of bbq- mustard sauce really cut that regular sweetness while still preserving the lovely tang. I ordered the half rotisserie chicken which dripping potatoes and cauliflower. This was definitely 3 meals worth for me; it was impeccable in flavours and presentation. A lot of it (not all) was pretty much deboned which I appreciate very much. Would order again. Service for me as a non-American and not having lived in SoCal before was a little unexpected. I found our server and bussers very attentive, friendly and dedicated, however, having never dined in this region of America before, it's hard to tell how genuine it is. That's not a negative by any means, but I'm just not used to that kind of service and "praise" for every item we ordered from food to drinks. Tried this place based on Yelp reviews. Sat at the bar, had a beer, grilled sourdough bread and the shrimp scampi. The beer was a local brew but in a can(bartender put it in a glass). No draft beers here. Grilled sourdough bread was delicious. Shrimp scampi was just "okay". Only three large shrimp, prepared well, but could use a bit more flavor. Expensive for what you get. Just a heads up... parking is a real challenge in downtown San Clemente. Public lots were mostly full, street parking was nonexistent. Neat area, but could use more parking. read more

The first time my wife and I tried Parlor we immediately felt the warm and welcoming atmosphere that they have created there. The staff were on point in their recommendations on what to try from the dinner menu as well as the cocktail menu. We were greeted by many staff members including the General Manager Joe G., the awesome bartender Mia, our server Brynn even brought out the head chef to explain his pizza making process. Another server Zach circled around a couple times to check on us and the support staff never let our waters get below half. We felt very well taken care of. Situated in the middle of El Camino Real street and directly across from the wonderful Vine Restaurant, Parlor is a nice mix of vibrant bar and outdoor patio scene combined with comfortable and quieter indoor seating. They have a small, but nice, selection of wines and draft beer. The menu offers a diverse variety of fish, beef, chicken, pasta, and pizza selections. We started with a delicious burrata and heirloom tomato appetizer accompanied by drizzled pesto, basil, and dollops of purred garlic. It is served with small slices of olive oil basted grilled bread. If in the mood for pasta, try the short rib bolognese or the rigatoni with mushrooms, a light butter sauce, and house made fennel sausage. Both were exceptional and provide very generous portions. The manager checked on us several times and the server could not have been more helpful with the entree selections and attentive throughout the meal. The manager brought us a rice ball/goat cheese starter as a complimentary offering from the chef. A rare, but welcomed, gesture. The only negative was loud and odd music selections playing in the background. That brings them to a 4.5 if that was an option. I'm hoping the owner reads this and dials back the volume and offers some non-distracting music .....like Italian instrumentals. Kudos to the owners, who have garnered the respect they deserve with outstanding sister restaurants Bloom and Ironwood. I met a friend last week right here in San Clemente at Parlor, which is located just across the street from Vine another one of the 6 remarkable restaurants in the RJB Restaurant Group. My hubby and I have eaten many times over the years we have lived in San Clemente at the Vine. There we always felt spoiled by partners Russ Bendel and Chef Jared Cook and then Gabe Whorley would create the perfect cocktail just by asking a few questions about personal preferences. This as well as experiences at the other RJB restaurants set great expectations for Parlor to meet. Parlor's operating partner Joe Guillena and Chef Jimmy McAndrews more than met the challenge. They have really created a magical space with inventive reimagining of the prior interior and food creations in the wood burning oven and rotisserie. Downstairs now has a speakeasy and dining/game room available for private parties. Joe pointed out so many of the special San Clemente touches like lights that used to be at Casa Romantica or the Pizza sign from Cassano's. Chef Jimmy and his team have put together such a nice menu and we sampled just a few of the dishes: Creamy Burrata & Heirloom Tomatoes - this included garlic confit, sweet basil sprouts, pistachio pesto and served with grilled house made sourdough. I really could have just had that as it was a hot and humid evening and this was so refreshing. It had just the right variety of textures and flavors. Sweet & Spicy French Cut Chicken Wings - these, what I would call lollipop wings, had just the right amount of spice with Calabrian chili honey, pickled celery and a smoked blue cheese-buttermilk dip. My friend loves her chicken wings and they were the favorite of the evening for her. That speaks volumes about the dish. Signature Crispy Porchetta - done on the rotisserie with Chermoula, pickled onions, watercress and sardinian fregola really was crispy yet tender. It was wrapped in pork belly so again, another dish with such attention to detail not only with the flavors but also the textures. I rather selfishly hesitate to tell everyone about Parlor and how nice it was to go to an early dinner on the back patio before the crowds really arrived to eat. Disabled hubby and I must eat outside and I do not want this to become too crowded for us to be able to go there. So do go try Parlor but have a fun drink at the bar first and then eat inside or later outside. read more

Came on a Friday night. It was vibrant with a great ambiance. Our 7pm reservation was for a community table where you share with others. It worked out perfectly. Friendly and still private. I had the arugula salad to start then the truffle toasted miritake mushroom garlic wood fired pizza. it was all delicious. Service was excellent.
