Maybe I'm just used to Americanized Italian, because this place boasts "sorta close to Italy", but this was not the best Italian I've had. It's more of a fine dining Italian restaurant than family style, and the pasta is made in-house, so the prices were higher than usual. The complimentary bread was very delicious. Highly recommend the risotto balls as an appetizer ($10.25) - super cheesy and yummy - comes with 6 balls. The Cacio e Pepe was pretty decent. It was described as an adult mac & cheese, but it was definitely more oily than cheesy, which made it lack flavor. The added chicken was good. This is the best pasta I have had since returning from studying abroad in Italy. Pastaria is located in Nashville's brand new One City neighborhood, which is centered around the ideas of wellness and authenticity. The entire campus is stunning, with walkable sidewalks and gorgeous outdoor spaces. Pastaria itself is near the heart of it, right next door to Sump coffee. With a bright and unexpectedly large interior, the place is usually full of people so I would encourage getting a reservation ahead of time. There is street parking right in front of the restaurant that can fill up quickly but fortunately there is a parking garage nearby with free (!) parking. The menu may seem nontraditional for an Italian/American pasta shop but they all highlight the homemade pasta beautifully. All of the bread and pasta is made by hand and you can absolutely tell. Plus, if you have any questions you can always ask! Also, each seat has a little tray with jars of olive oil, parmesan, and chili oil so you can adjust everything to taste. The service was excellent, if a little slow, but I excused that given it was a Friday night. We sat at up by the kitchen where we could see the chefs hard at work making everything to order. I loved these seats because the chef right by us would let us taste the sauces he was making fresh and give us his best recommendations. I would definitely encourage stopping by Pastaria and enjoying some of the incredible food there. Be sure to finish up with gelato and a stroll around the One City campus because it is absolutely gorgeous! read more

Went for brunch today, and glad I did. It was very uncrowded on a Sunday, at 1 o'clock. I don't think many people know about it yet. I specifically went because I read about the donut. I recall reading that it was made of a brioche type of dough. It tasted very fresh and homemade. The breakfast pizza was fabulous: crisp crust, fried egg in the middle. The flavors melded together well. I got the braised beef hash. The crispy potatoes in it were awesome! Next time, I'll have to get it by itself as a side. The dish was flavorful, though a bit salty. The buckwheat waffle was good, though not mind-blowing. The lunch/dinner menu is also available, so you can order "regular" food too. Overall, I like the extra variety at brunch. Best put- Pastaria excels in quality of food. 10/5 for their nutella crunch cake. This is probably the best cake served for dessert at a restaurant. And, I'll place a bet, the cake is made from scratch, not from package/box. The sweetness is well-balanced, the texture is soft and it completely melts in your mouth. I am a sucker for hazelnut, but that chocolate crunch is good quality chocolate. It tastes so much like ferrero rocher, but better. I kept asking myself where is the nutella, I know it as, but it's just been so nicely used, that it is almost hard to distinguish. The cream between the cake uplifts the cake. And any place that uses salt in dessert to the right capacity deserves a bow. That chocolate sauce over the cake is salted enough that it teases the palate with the sweetness of chocolate. Such a lovely marriage of texture; sponge and crunch, nutty and chocolatey! Simply Divine. At $8.25 it delivers class. I am extremely critical of cake because even in the best of places, restaurants get away with serving grainy sugary chocolate cake that unmistakably tastes like betty crocker. While people prefer the familiarity of those flavors, that's not good (it's ok) cake and most definitely shouldn't be served at restaurants. So bravo to Pastaria! The risotto balls are delicious, well-balanced. Also note, that the happy hour risotto balls are different to the regular appetizer. The former incorporates nduja. So we went with the regular ones, mainly because people rave so much about it. However, I want to recommend the bruschetta. We had the chance to have it at the taste of West Nashville and honestly, it is by far a more complex and under-appreciated app. It was this bruschetta that put Pastaria on our list of places to visit. So next time I am getting the bruschetta. It uses eggplant, yogurt and I just don't know where else they serve bruschetta like this! It's a must-try. We went for the happy hour so had the margherita. It's as authentic as can be. Not very cheesy, smear of tomato sauce, drizzle of oil, and strong hint of basil, making the pizza base, the star- it's airy and light and not yeasty! Stunning. The char from the oven laces the flavor. I would have liked it a little less charred but it is close to the real deal. Here is the thing, if you like a saucy cheesy pizza, this is disappointing. But I like pizza this way because it doesn't make me sick. And, it's hard to find a pizza base that is so light and airy. I love basil, and man was it beautiful. The flavors are best put organic. I can't wait to be back to try their pasta, gelato and other desserts. They have a huge space and even on a hump day Pastaria was bustling. Also our server was so nice. Wonderful service! read more

On the way to an event downtown, we had to make a stop for lunch and decided Pastaria was just a few minutes from our destination. Searching my Good Friend Yelp, I could see this was a place that I wanted to visit. Pastaria is housed inside a corporate building, so I was confused a bit with parking, but it was super simple to access the parking garage below the restaurant (which is free btw). Upon entering, I felt I was transported back to my trip to Rome viewing the open kitchen and those in the back creating yummy things for the diners. From where I sat, I could view all the amazing framed pictures of the chef's/owner's adventures. The tables were set up in bistro style with sauces/oils and simple white tablecloths. This contemporary casual style of dining warmed my heart as well as the crusty bread that Lila brought to our table. As for the food, I opted for a simple mixed greens salad with grilled chicken and a hearty minestrone soup. My friend chose a savory pork filed pannini. We were served within an hour and on our way for the day. Perfect place to stop by while you are in the bustling downtown of Nashville! A solid option for a pasta restaurant in town but definitely not the best one. We sat outside on their patio which was well spaced out, but had to wait quite a long time for our waiter. Once we finally got our order in, we had to wait even longer even though others around us who placed their order after got their food quickly. Just visited and it's evident that the quality has gone down hill -- and the prices have gone up significantly. I understand inflation but it's outright expensive for the quality that it is now. I came here for the first time on Valentine's Day for dinner, and it's a great spot for a casual yet delicious date night! We checked the NoWait app an hour before, expecting there to be a long wait, but there actually wasn't one, surprisingly. So, we were seated right away. We started off by ordering the Risotto Balls which were so freaking good, holy wow. It comes with a marinara sauce and a lemony cream sauce. Both are so good!! I would definitely recommend these. I ordered the Canestri Cacio e Pepe pasta (because...Ash Wednesday and no meat) and it was super good. Although, I would've preferred to order pasta with meat in it because I think it would've made me happier but.... #CatholicProbs. My boyfriend ordered the Toasted Spaghetti with Clams and the noodles were amazing but the sauce (yes, I understand it's white wine sauce) tasted like it hadn't cooked enough to get that strong wine taste out. It almost tasted like vinegar. Still edible, though! I just don't think we'd order that dish again. We also ordered the Brussel Sprouts - DELISH. I saw most people have to go boxes, which we ended up with as well, because the plates are super filling which is awesome!! Our waiter, Ben, was great! Very on top of things. It is dangerous that Pastaria is so close to my work but it served as the perfect excuse for a lunch with co-workers on a bitterly cold day this week. We came in before the lunch rush and there was plenty of seating, partly because they are in a large space. The main dining room is big but also connects to more space in the back. They also have a large bar and I noticed, a pretty sweet happy hour. The risotto balls were ordered as an appetizer and delicious! I feel like it's easy for them to be done wrong and come out dry and bland. Not so here! They had great flavor with a marinara and herb aioli that was great too. Next we were given complimentary focaccia bread which I happily dipped in the spicy olive oil that was already set out on the table (with regular olive oil for those with delicate palates and parmesan). I don't know about you, but I get confused with all the pasta names, and I needed help from the waitress when deciding what to order. Also, I have a gripe with the lunch menu.... with the exception of a Panini and pasta combo... the menu was all dinner prices and portions which I found strange. I wanted to try the lasagna but it was $17.95 and I just don't need to eat a giant pasta meal in the middle of the day (unless I'm in Italy and then all bets are off). So I felt that I had to go for the pasta and salad option (which was still $14) but plenty of food for my meal plus leftovers. I had the pasta with spicy marinara sauce and the shaved kale salad. Both were very good, but the salad was pretty heavily coated with dressing and I had to ask for fresh basil with my pasta to give it a bit more umph (I also got a confused reaction from the waitress with this request). I sampled the Canestri Cacio e Pepe which was fantastic but a dinner portion, even at lunch. I heard good things about the pizza from other members of our party, and I will definitely be back to sample more food... I just hope it's at dinner next time! read more

What a great authentic Italian addition to Nashville! Parking in the attached garage is free and who doesn't love free parking?? This is a hot new spot to get your favorite homemade pasta. The thing I love most about this place is it's got plenty of room to serve a lot of customers. The prices are reasonable and comparable to any other authentic local Italian restaurant. We stopped in around 1:30 on a Monday and they weren't that busy so we were happy. To start we ordered the risotto balls (arancini) with dipping sauce. The appetizer came with 6 balls and 2 sauces (marinara and herb aioli). The herb aioli was my absolute favorite. It had a lemon aftertaste and went so well with the risotto balls. We also ordered a margharita pizza (4 big slices) that was wood fired. They give you 1 pretty big piece of homemade bread and 2 different dipping oils. One is on the spicy side and the other is just regular. If you are wanting to do drinks after work with some friends they also have a very large bar area. Overall, if you are looking for fresh authentic Italian food I would recommend stopping here. read more

I don't have any recommendations because I frankly love them all. Their dishes are simple so you can basically taste it just by reading the ingredients. They mainly serve pastas and pizzas. OHHH I almost forgot about their gelato! You MUST TRY THE PRETZEL FLAVOR! Omgomgomgomgomgoomg!!!! So good! I promise! They get busy so I suggest making a reservation if you can. If you can't get a table, you can eat at the bar in the back. We've done that a couple of times. Now they have lots of wine. I typically go for cocktails and that's probably what I'm a bit disappointed with. Been here so many times and I've never had a good cocktail. Granted, that's not what they specialize on so just FYI. Also don't be lazy and don't valet. You can park in the garage and you can literally walk into the restaurant. So don't waste your $6 for valet parking! Really really great food. 3.5 Originally gave this place a 4.5 stars, and I have to knock it down a star after my list visit. Arrived at Pastaria around 7 PM on Saturday night and put my name down for a table of 2 - was told the wait would be an hour. No sweat - our meal was SO good last time we had no issue waiting 60 minutes for more of that irresistible pasta. The two of us grabbed a seat at the bar, and enjoyed some of their house red (which is really good for the price!). As we sipped, we continued to check our wait time with the link provided. We started with 37 parties ahead of us, and watched as the number slowly dwindled. We were getting hungry, and decided to order an appetizer at the bar. We opted for the BURRATA BUSCHETTA ($12.50). This dish left more to be imagined. Two pieces of grilled bread, with minimal burrata. I'm a girl who loves me some cheese, and this was disappointing, especially for the cost. Like please tell me, where is the cheeese?!? Anywho, an hour has passed and I checked the app - 20 parties ahead of me! It's possible that they would have turned quickly, but it definitely still would have been an additional 20 minutes or so, and I was getting HANGRY. So, I left. This place still gets 3.5 stars though, because it was so amazing last time, and I'll give it one more shot. But next time, I'd like a better wait time estimate! read more

I'm extremely picky when it comes to Italian food. I was raised on homemade Italian and I usually never choose to eat that cuisine when picking a restaurant. However, multiple people suggested this place, so I had to try it. All I have to say is WOW. Pastaria is excellent. My friend and I sat at the bar, which is pretty specious so you don't feel on top of the people you're sitting next to. It was the perfect place because you get a front row view to all of the food being made, especially the pizza. The smells were epic. We ordered the risotto balls and shaved kale to start. Both were absolutely delicious. The risotto balls were soft and cheesy and crispy. The shaved kale was also bursting with flavor. Our main dishes we shared because we couldn't pass up trying both the pasta and pizza. The bucatini pasta was out of this world. Spicy and delicious. You can tell the noodles are homemade by the texture and how they were cooked al dente, perfectly. I couldn't get enough of it. Then the pizza was spectacular. We ordered the margherita with pepperoni on it. I think the pepperoni is also homemade, or at least, it tasted that way. I think that was my favorite part of the meal because I've never tasted pepperoni that good. To top it all off, the service is great! Everyone was so nice and attentive. Tried this restaurant tonight and wanted to write this review immediately because it was so great! My friends and I split the Crispy Risotto Balls as our appetizer, which I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys the likes of mac and cheese balls or mozzarella sticks. I went for the Margherita Pizza as my entree and also tried bites of my friends' Canestri Cacio e Pepe and Toasted Spaghetti with Clams. The serving sizes were large enough that we all took home full servings in boxes, so I would recommend splitting either a pizza and a pasta or pasta and vegetable if you're coming in a party of two ($1 charge to split an entree). For the Toasted Spaghetti with Clams, the flour itself is toasted before the pasta is made (all pastas are made in house) and gives the pasta rich, brown color. This entree has a unique taste that I'd recommend for adventurous eaters but not necessarily for picky eaters or kids. I want to give an extra shout out to our server Meaghan, who was sweet and attentive and even brought us gelato on the house after we asked for our checks! Pastaria has great decor, overall atmosphere, and is a great place for dates, family meals, or group dinners! Okay Pastria. I wasn't expecting to love you as much as I did. First this place is super cute. I hate writing that in the hopes of not being basic, but it is. Uber tall ceilings allow of photos of Italy travels. A warm yellow paint and full view of the kitchen really allows for a "home-y" feel. It has the chalkboard style on the back wall, which while not unique in this market, fits nicely. There is a TON of seating.. there's seats around the back, around the kitchen as well a bunch of tables. That's my only qualm with this place... I don't understand their seating. I used the Yelp app to help with the wait time. I showed up to a bunch of empty tables... and they said I can wait or try for bar seating. I know y'all don't take reservations so what's with that? It's not a huge deal but definitely annoying. Regardless, we sat at the chairs by the kitchen. Kudos to the chefs who are prepping multi pasta dishes on the fly. Y'all the real MVPs as I can't manage two burners at the same time. I opted for the Bucatini All' Amatriciana - spaghetti noodles, tomatoes, red onion, guanciale, chili and grana padano. The best part of this dish was the noodle texture - you can absolutely taste that it's fresh pasta. From my adventures in Italy, fresh pasta rocked my world. It was gummy, and thick and perfect vessel for the sauce. It was warm and spicy, not too thick or thin. It was a beautiful dish and honestly looking forward to the leftovers I have in my fridge. First visit review - we reserved our spot using the Nowait app, and initially expected to wait about an hour. Thankfully, we were seated in 15 min. First gold star of the evening! Our server, Kiley, stopped by our table, filled our mason jars, and offered us bread. She answered my initial questions about the pizza options, and left us to continue deliberating. We finally opted to get the Bucatini Rigate - what an excellent choice that was! It came with a spicy lamb ragu, and was so rich and savory, I have enough leftovers for a nice Sunday brunch. Make sure to add the crispy risotto balls, and the roasted brussels sprouts, to your meal. Come to this restaurant hungry - you will probably still leave with leftovers. Last, but never least (for me anyway) - dessert. They have 3 options - the only one you need to know about is the Nutella Crunch Cake. This place was such a lunchtime delight from start to finish!! I happened to have the day free and was on that side of town, so I treated myself to my first meal yet at Pastaria and left feeling so happy and satisfied. It helped that my awesome server Jonathan was equally happy to tend to my lunching needs---after serving me up the most scrumptious plate of fresh warm bread, he immediately recommended the pistachio ravioli, which was every bit as delicious and unique as he said it'd be. And what an exquisite dish indeed: moist, fluffy pillows of goodness filled with a nice potato mixture and mixed with a crunchy and lightly nutty flavoring on top....mmmm...and unlike most ravioli entrees, it was the perfect serving to fill me right up! Then we had Pappardelle - pork and pasta, let me ssay that again pork and pasta, sweet tomato flavor, almost refreshing in its taste, I had Pistachio Ravioli, amazing, and the garlic butter sauce, I couldn't get enough bread to mop it up... excellent. Our friend got the toasted spaghetti- buyer beware- it soundds amazing, garlic, white wine, lemon, and parsley. However, the noodles looked like worms and it had a metallic, alkaline taste. We were not able to salvage with sautés, cheese, or olive oil. We came in noticing it was not as busy as the first time we came so we were seated much quicker this time. Our waiter was with us shortly and I ordered the cauliflower, minestrone soup, and Garganelli. The cauliflower came out very quickly and was quickly followed by the minestrone soup. I had to wait fifteen minutes before someone came to check on us and by that time my soup wasn't even hot anymore! My husband wanted to try a pizza so one was ordered as an app. I tried it, thin crust with delicious fresh ingredients. It was so good! For dinner I ordered the strozzapreti and he got the garganelli. We ended up switching cause the bolognese was way too porky for me. I should have asked, because I prefer a beefier taste so that was my fault. The pasta was excellent. Next time I will order a classic red sauce favorite since that's what I really enjoy. Pastaria was my favorite restaurant when living in St. Louis. Having moved to Nashville, I was thrilled to hear that the second Pastaria was coming here, and finally made it over to check it out. Gerard Craft owns the restaurant scene in St. Louis, but Nashville is a good 5 hour drive. I was a little concerned that this Pastaria would be able to live up to what's going on at the original -- but no fear. From the aesthetics to the service to the eats, it's all here. The Pappadelle with pulled pork and apples is outstanding, and for dessert, the "Not Tiramisu" which was essentially a coffee tart was a creamy close to our meal. My time in Nashville is coming to a close as well, but I'm definitely squeezing in another visit before I'm off! read more

Haven't been since COVID began, but huge fan of this place. I'm originally from NY area and this pasta and pizza is just as good as any from the east coast. Staff is wildly friendly - we've been many times, we often sit at the pizza counter and haven't encountered anyone not willing to chat. Highly recommend the Hawaiian add nduja. Great lunch specials as well - half pasta or pizza, half salad! read more
