Nice brunch. We came in for brunch this past Sunday and had a nice experience! We got the pastry basket, Norwegian Benedict, Regular Benedict and Nicoise Salad. All were great and the Niçoise salad was one of the best I've ever had. Service was a little slow and odd, our waiter was nice but kind of seemed like he couldn't care less about being there or serving us. We kept having to ask for little things like sugar for tea, more water, etc. I've been to Pastis a million times and the ambiance is always stellar and this time was no different. Overall Pastis is that reliable spot I'll keep coming back to again and again.
Came here with a group of friends for brunch. I got the grilled chicken bacon and avocado sandwich (came with fries) - really fresh and delicious. I would def come back for this, plenty of food. Make reservations ahead of time! Staff was friendly. We came on a rainy day but if it was sunny I would def sit outside.
We stopped in at midday before heading to the Whitney. We had croquet Madame and Moules Frites. I had a delightful sour. The food was delicious. The mussels were bread and well seasoned. The service is kind and solicitous without hovering. The restaurant itself is open and well appointed, with a slightly worn Parisian look. It seems that a reservation is needed for larger parties. The two of us were able to walk in and get a table in a few minutes. If you are in the area, I recommend you check it out.
Love the vibe of this place. It was lively and bustling even on a weekday night, so I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance. We ordered the duck confit, moules frites, and escargot. The escargot was flavorful and tender, served piping hot. I got a little impatient and burned my mouth, but it was worth it. The moules frites was also excellent. The mussels were cooked perfectly, and the light citrusy broth was so delicious that I almost wanted to ask for a spoon just to drink it. The duck confit was the only dish that fell a bit short for me. While the duck itself was cooked well, the flavor did not stand out much, and it was slightly too salty for my taste. Overall, a great spot with a fun atmosphere.
Trendy, celeb spotting, people watching spot, but actually has reallllly good food, and never disappoints! The leek app is so delicious, I could've eaten another plate of it...and then the all time classic and fave there, the cheeseburger...about as good as a cheeseburger can get! Probably one of, if not the best in NYC. The fries are like the perfect version of a McDonalds fry, and yes, to me that's the best! I love this place and I don't think you can go wrong with anything here...
Place was packed with good vibes. Staff watching the staff maneuver around customers need to be studied. It's like watching a well choreographed dance show. Great place. A bit expensive but still very good. Service is good... the place looks cute - like an old Paris restaurant. We ordered family style the burger, the gruyere omelette, the Benedict eggs and the pastry basket. Everything was superior. The fries are amazing - might be the best in the city. The burger is great. Not sure it is as good as other reviewers say but it is tasty and juicy. The Benedict again might be the best in the city. The ham and the hollandaise sauce are amazing. The omelette was good. Not amazing but not bad. Very well cooked - not overly done. The potatoes on the omelette and Benedict are very good as well. The pastry basket was also excellent. Every pastry is very much like what you would find at a great place in Paris. I wonder if they make them or if they get them from Balthazar. I'd have to guess that they make them. Very good!
Been going to Pastis for years and it truly never disappoints. If I get to choose my last meal, I'd have to put the bar steak and frites and the profiteroles for dessert.
This is one of my go to places when I'm in the mood for brasserie French food. It's consistently good and the atmosphere is authentic. When dining inside, I feel like I'm in Paris. On this day, we stopped in for brunch. We had no reservations but managed to get a seat outside. Lovely! I ordered a Gruyère omlette with herbs and The Mister ordered a croque madam. Both were delicious! Service was great.
The food here was incredible. We came with a large group for lunch and were accommodated seamlessly, which we really appreciated. The staff was kind and welcoming, though service was a bit slow to check in at times--likely because we were seated outside on a pretty cold day. The space itself is large and can get a little loud, but nothing overwhelming. They do offer outdoor seating, which I'd definitely recommend when the weather is nice since it's on a quieter street. We ordered the bar steak, boeuf bourguignon, tuna tartare, crispy artichoke, and the Poulet en Croûte (my personal favorite). Every single dish was exceptional--truly not a single miss. Will absolutely be coming back.

I remember the older Pastis when it was located at the corner of Little West 12 Street & 9th Ave. While the art, fashion, and literary glitterati that were mainstays of the prior NYC Pastis are no longer omnipresent, the newer iteration still draws a lively and visually appealing crowd. Pastis is a successful formula with iterations in Miami and Washington D.C., with each location preserving much the same idealized Paris-brasserie ambience. Its recurring visual vocabulary includes a curved zinc bar, white subway tile (both reclaimed and new), red or maroon banquettes, bentwood-style chairs, globe pendant lights, large mirrors, and a warm, slightly golden wash of light. A large, mostly French menu offers something for everyone, unless you happen to be a lactose-intolerant vegetarian. Similarly, the cocktails list and wines-by-the-glass offer broad appeal. On my last visit of 26 March 2026, the warm shrimp salad, tuna crudo, and hamburger were all flavorful and suitably portioned (neither small nor large). Some dishes, including the poulet à la diable, are quite generous and are best shared by two. Oyster lovers should also be happy here. In short, Pastis remains a dependable Meatpacking standby: solid French food, a buoyant room, and prices that sting less than they might elsewhere.
The ambiance here feels like a big family party. There's conversations across every sector of the space and everyone is just enjoying a homey feel. The staff are really nice, they are attentive and always an earshot away to honor your request. I don't know if I would compare it to the original space, but it does feel like a throwback to old times. If you're here for a special occasion, definitely get the lobster frites. It is splurge-worthy but it is really good. The duck 'o larange was good as well, but I expected a lot more duck than what was on the plate. It was only 2 slices of duck for basically $40, not worth it. It is worth going to at least once if you live in New York.
We went here on a whim.. only looking for a light bite and drinks. Instead we ordered dinner and a drink and received a little mini espresso martini gratis :) We both ordered the steak frites which was very good. This place is well known, so she get very busy very quickly and it was a MONDAY, but NY don't care what day of the week it is.. if they open, you probably need a reservation - which is sometimes (usually) very annoying! But, we were happy with the bar and we sat down as soon as we entered. My friend ordered the escargot, I chose no app but the escargot was sooo good! So buttery. But also very salty.. nevertheless I'd get it again. The place was cute. Not amazing but cute. The bartender commented on my friend's weight.. which kind of pissed her off, hence the 4 star rating... but all other aspects of the service and the food were great. Would go again.. read more

What a delightful dining experience @ Pastis. Service started out not that great with a 15+ minute wait for the server after water was provided yet improved. Perched in an outdoor seat to enjoy a sunny NYC late afternoon dinner. The Branzino (my Fav) was seasoned and prepared exceptionally well. And the bean tapenade was a light and tantalizing side dish. Went for lunch with a friend. When I reminisce about this place, it reminds me of a staple New York restaurant. It's a very solid place if I lived in New York, but not one of those "OMG you need to go!" places. I didn't try too many things so I would take my review with a grain of salt but my salmon was great, cooked nicely and the beurre de tomate was excellent however nothing really jumped out at me for my meal. Ordered a Fumee du diable and a chicken paillard. The Fumee du Diable was a refreshing drink consisting of banhez mezcal, cassis, ginger, and lime. The citrus elements with the ginger give this drink a sharp tone. The Chicken Paillard was a beautiful plate with a bed of greens and sliced almonds. The chicken was well flattened and had some of the tartness of the picholine olives. It was easy to cut into and a good portion. There were also complimentary butter and bread which were a really nice side starter; the butter was very smooth and the bread was a light but firm consistency. The service was great, very courteous. Restroom situation is a bit unusual as its hidden away down two flights of stairs. Steady flow of guests throughout the evening so you may need a reservation but a walk-in may be fine on the weekdays. read more

Restaurant is spacious inside with outside seating available. The food tasted great. I was a little surprised at the eggs and soldiers- I thought they would crack it open before it got to the table but honestly it was very simple to do it myself. I walked in on a Wednesday for brunch with one other. No reservations needed although they still took down my number in their system which gave them my name and they greeted me by name which was nice. Service was speedy. read more
Decided to stop here for brunch with a friend and the menu looked good. We had an 11:15 reservation but got there a bit earlier and they were able to sit us right away. The server was very attentive and came over to ask what we wanted to drink but we needed a minute because we were catching up. The food was great! I enjoyed the French toast and my friend enjoyed her pancakes. The ambiance of the place was very laid back and fun. There were alot of tables and it was busy. Pastis is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. It's a French style bistro with the authenticity and charm of an old New York. Every time I go the restaurant is full. The crowd is trendy but not overly dressed. It's certainly OK to go casual. The service can be a bit slow to begin with (getting drinks and water and such), but the food usually comes out quickly. My favorite item on the menu (admittedly, the only thing I've tried because it's so great) is the lobster frites. The dish is absolutely incredible. The lobster is seasoned to the max in a delicious parsley garlic butter and the matchstick style fries are stacked up tall and perfectly crispy. My husband has tried one of their beef dishes before, but he said it didn't even come close to the lobster frites . They also have daily specials. We just missed the lobster risotto special by a day in our last visit. If you're looking for a place that's tried and true and reliably good, this is it. read more

Ate: Scallop crudo ( shared) Bouillabaisse Hot chocolate Complimentary red wine Total $62 with tip The scallops are stunning & delicious in a passion fruit sauce. My bouillabaisse was not good! You can rely on Pastis for good quality food. Sat at the bar and had one dish in mind. The moule frite, and it did not disappoint. The mussels were packed with flavor and the wine and garlic sauce was to die for! The serving was generous and the fries were perfect. For dessert, I usually don't order ice cream but this was exceptional. All their flavors are made in house, I went with the coffee flavor. read more

Love this place, it's a tradition for my daughter and I to come here on my birthday. I love the croque Madame, the oysters, the wine, the muscles n fries. I love it all. I'm getting hungry just looking at the pictures as I post them. The service is always courteous and friendly. The place looks the same year after year. I've been to the original Pastis ages ago, during my early days in NY but this was the first time I've dined here since Pastis was "reincarnated". On a Friday night, it's still as busy and crowded as ever and the crowd made for an exceedingly entertaining view while my friend and I had dinner. The menu of French brasserie classics is executed well and we both enjoyed our dishes. Service is good though a bit distracted, given the crowds. Would I come back? If I'm already in the neighborhood and there's no wait for a table, certainly. But is it worth making it a destination? Not in my opinion. read more

Good food, trendy popular place but I can't get past how bad the lighting was. I don't know what light bulbs they are using but they were horrible and made your food and everyone look horrible (the kind of light that gives you a headache). So lunch/daytime will have better ambience than dinner. The decor was perfectly perfect French bistro. The atmosphere was loud- very loud but lively. The menu was excellent and the food was all executed well. Service was just ok. The bussers(busboy) were great, the server/waiter not so much. Easily annoyed and not that friendly- until they delivered the check. I get it- this place is popular and crazy busy but it's missing some warmth from the people who work there and I shouldn't feel bad about asking questions about the menu. The reason I'm giving a 4 over a 3 is because the food is that good. Ordered at our table: fois gras, French onion soup, trout with green beans and steak frites. All classic French dishes done well. They cooked the steak exactly to my preference and that fois gras? Phenomenal. Get this if you are a fan of pate. I asked for a steak sauce which they didn't have but got a au poivre (pepper sauce) on the side which was good. But I really wanted a tangy steak sauce not a creamy one and was surprised they didn't make one. The trout- delicious and served with perfectly cooked green beans. I recommend everything we had. And I wanted to try more on the menu- plenty of good options to choose from ! If you love French food this is the place for you. Just wish they had better light bulbs that didn't put off that horrible color- it would make the ambience that much better. read more
This place is popular for a reason. Sure, you may see a celebrity or two, but really it's just because the food is that good. The burger is delicious and stomps out the "smash burger" craze goin on, and the steak frites are so good. I also love their French onion soup. The cocktails are decent, especially the one with gin and apricot, but next time I'd just get a glass of wine. One note, if you are coming for a work dinner or with an older crowd, it does get VERY loud inside. read more

Pastis was a great experience overall. I shared the steak frites,and oysters for lunch with my bestie. She ordered a side of spinach and Mac and cheese which has cubed ham in it (I'm not a ham lover at all but it was still delicious if you pick it out), and overall the meal was good. The table felt a little tight and I wish there was more space, but honestly that's New York City for you. The energy, the food, and the vibe still made it worth it. Came here for dinner but the appetizer looked so good we just ordered a bunch of appetizers for dinner. The service was attentive. We asked our server to course out our appetizers since we were sitting at a small table and ordered 6 appetizers. He did a good job coursing it out while pairing the dishes. The timing was perfect. We did not have to wait long in between courses. Our favorites were the Veal Tongue, Foie Gras Parfait, and Pâté de Campagne. The oysters were cleaned well but were nothing special, the scallops were a little disappointing. The passion fruit sauce did nothing for the scallops and i found the scallops to be a bit fishy. Overall we were pleased. Will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu. read more

We had a wonderful lunch there today. I have a diary allergy and they were amazingly accommodating. I had no issues and felt great after. I had the steak frites which were perfectly cooked and so delicious. The st germain spritz made me long for summer in France and the chocolate vegan gelato was heavenly. A visit to NYC is not complete without hitting up Pastis and no better seat than the bar. Excellent service on all fronts. I splurged this visit and ordered the lobster frites and it's was all that I was hoping for. Plump well cooked lobster drenched in butter and parsley with crispy fries to dip in the butter (no need for mayo). All washed down with bubbles. My bar guests had the burger and that's what I'll get on my next visit. read more

We reserved an outdoor table, and because of traffic- we were running late. We called the restaurant and they told us they would give us a 15 minute grace period, which we were very thankful for because we definitely needed it. Our outside table was ready and waiting for us and it was a bit cool, so they had heaters that made it the perfect temperature. We started with the steak tartar, fried artichokes, and pancakes - to share- all so delicious and the presentation was amazing! I had the chicken paillard and was very pleased with my choice! My husband loved the cheeseburger and my friend loved her chicken sandwich - but, we definitely ordered way too much food. The atmosphere was great, our server was wonderful and even though we over ordered, we were happy to have sampled so many items! read more

I went to Pastis on a Sunday and it was packed. I ordered ravioli and the bolognese as an appetizer. Both appetizers were not impressive and were missing salt. I ordered the bar steak and it was good, not great. My husband ordered a burger which is smash style. The burger was smaller in size in comparison to the last time I visited. For dessert, we ordered the profiteroles. They come with ice cream and it was okay similar to Paris Baguette. The high prices don't really make sense for me considering everything was average. read more
I was blown away by how much my partner and I enjoyed our date night meal at Pastis. I went on with pretty high, but tempered expectations, since it's a pretty well known restaurant, but between the food and the service, it definitely loved up to the hype. My partner and I went for the burger (which was phenomenal and comes with enough fries to feed a small family), but ended up enjoying so many other dishes - like the veal tongue and the steak tartare. The macaroni and cheese with ham was also a perfect accompaniment. We definitely left full (and had to go for a long walk after). Our server, Cayleb, was really on points - always checking in on the right moments, made sure our waters was filled and we had everything we needed. Also had some really great suggestions for us. We will definitely be back - and maybe try some of the other dishes (like the steak sandwich) too! read more
