Nice brunch. We came in for brunch this past Sunday and had a nice experience! We got the pastry basket, Norwegian Benedict, Regular Benedict and Nicoise Salad. All were great and the Niçoise salad was one of the best I've ever had. Service was a little slow and odd, our waiter was nice but kind of seemed like he couldn't care less about being there or serving us. We kept having to ask for little things like sugar for tea, more water, etc. I've been to Pastis a million times and the ambiance is always stellar and this time was no different. Overall Pastis is that reliable spot I'll keep coming back to again and again.
Came here with a group of friends for brunch. I got the grilled chicken bacon and avocado sandwich (came with fries) - really fresh and delicious. I would def come back for this, plenty of food. Make reservations ahead of time! Staff was friendly. We came on a rainy day but if it was sunny I would def sit outside.
We stopped in at midday before heading to the Whitney. We had croquet Madame and Moules Frites. I had a delightful sour. The food was delicious. The mussels were bread and well seasoned. The service is kind and solicitous without hovering. The restaurant itself is open and well appointed, with a slightly worn Parisian look. It seems that a reservation is needed for larger parties. The two of us were able to walk in and get a table in a few minutes. If you are in the area, I recommend you check it out.
Love the vibe of this place. It was lively and bustling even on a weekday night, so I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance. We ordered the duck confit, moules frites, and escargot. The escargot was flavorful and tender, served piping hot. I got a little impatient and burned my mouth, but it was worth it. The moules frites was also excellent. The mussels were cooked perfectly, and the light citrusy broth was so delicious that I almost wanted to ask for a spoon just to drink it. The duck confit was the only dish that fell a bit short for me. While the duck itself was cooked well, the flavor did not stand out much, and it was slightly too salty for my taste. Overall, a great spot with a fun atmosphere.
Trendy, celeb spotting, people watching spot, but actually has reallllly good food, and never disappoints! The leek app is so delicious, I could've eaten another plate of it...and then the all time classic and fave there, the cheeseburger...about as good as a cheeseburger can get! Probably one of, if not the best in NYC. The fries are like the perfect version of a McDonalds fry, and yes, to me that's the best! I love this place and I don't think you can go wrong with anything here...
Place was packed with good vibes. Staff watching the staff maneuver around customers need to be studied. It's like watching a well choreographed dance show. Lobster and frites were well seasoned and portioned. Good wine selection We all enjoyed our food that led to a return visit. Excellent customer service
Great place. A bit expensive but still very good. Service is good... the place looks cute - like an old Paris restaurant. We ordered family style the burger, the gruyere omelette, the Benedict eggs and the pastry basket. Everything was superior. The fries are amazing - might be the best in the city. The burger is great. Not sure it is as good as other reviewers say but it is tasty and juicy. The Benedict again might be the best in the city. The ham and the hollandaise sauce are amazing. The omelette was good. Not amazing but not bad. Very well cooked - not overly done. The potatoes on the omelette and Benedict are very good as well. The pastry basket was also excellent. Every pastry is very much like what you would find at a great place in Paris. I wonder if they make them or if they get them from Balthazar. I'd have to guess that they make them. Very good!
Been going to Pastis for years and it truly never disappoints. If I get to choose my last meal, I'd have to put the bar steak and frites and the profiteroles for dessert.
This is one of my go to places when I'm in the mood for brasserie French food. It's consistently good and the atmosphere is authentic. When dining inside, I feel like I'm in Paris. On this day, we stopped in for brunch. We had no reservations but managed to get a seat outside. Lovely! I ordered a Gruyère omlette with herbs and The Mister ordered a croque madam. Both were delicious! Service was great.
The food here was incredible. We came with a large group for lunch and were accommodated seamlessly, which we really appreciated. The staff was kind and welcoming, though service was a bit slow to check in at times--likely because we were seated outside on a pretty cold day. The space itself is large and can get a little loud, but nothing overwhelming. They do offer outdoor seating, which I'd definitely recommend when the weather is nice since it's on a quieter street. We ordered the bar steak, boeuf bourguignon, tuna tartare, crispy artichoke, and the Poulet en Croûte (my personal favorite). Every single dish was exceptional--truly not a single miss. Will absolutely be coming back.

I remember the older Pastis when it was located at the corner of Little West 12 Street & 9th Ave. While the art, fashion, and literary glitterati that were mainstays of the prior NYC Pastis are no longer omnipresent, the newer iteration still draws a lively and visually appealing crowd. Pastis is a successful formula with iterations in Miami and Washington D.C., with each location preserving much the same idealized Paris-brasserie ambience. Its recurring visual vocabulary includes a curved zinc bar, white subway tile (both reclaimed and new), red or maroon banquettes, bentwood-style chairs, globe pendant lights, large mirrors, and a warm, slightly golden wash of light. A large, mostly French menu offers something for everyone, unless you happen to be a lactose-intolerant vegetarian. Similarly, the cocktails list and wines-by-the-glass offer broad appeal. On my last visit of 26 March 2026, the warm shrimp salad, tuna crudo, and hamburger were all flavorful and suitably portioned (neither small nor large). Some dishes, including the poulet à la diable, are quite generous and are best shared by two. Oyster lovers should also be happy here. In short, Pastis remains a dependable Meatpacking standby: solid French food, a buoyant room, and prices that sting less than they might elsewhere.
The ambiance here feels like a big family party. There's conversations across every sector of the space and everyone is just enjoying a homey feel. The staff are really nice, they are attentive and always an earshot away to honor your request. I don't know if I would compare it to the original space, but it does feel like a throwback to old times. If you're here for a special occasion, definitely get the lobster frites. It is splurge-worthy but it is really good. The duck 'o larange was good as well, but I expected a lot more duck than what was on the plate. It was only 2 slices of duck for basically $40, not worth it. It is worth going to at least once if you live in New York.
Classic, well-executed French breakfast. You just cannot go wrong here, it's a cult favorite for obvious reasons. Seating can be tight and service a bit spotty but the food is excellent. Their omelette with fine herbs might be one of my most loved breakfast items period. You can tell the chefs are knowledgeable and know what they're doing. The pancakes are thick (definitely meant for sharing) but so delicious as well. I just think you can't go wrong with whatever you order. We were looking for a lunch spot after walking the high line north to south. This was perfect. Adorable ambiance. Impeccable service. We both ordered croques which were cheesy and delicious. And the Eiffel Sour cocktail was superb. read more
A Classic NYC lunch spot made popular by (the original) Sex and the City. When I lived in NYC back in the 1990's, this was in a slightly different location, but they kept the French charm of the original location when they moved. Hubbs and I split the salad lardon with the bacon and egg, and my "standard order" of the steak sandwich with frites. This particular steak sandwich which will always be the GOAT in my mind. My Brother-in-law always comes to this place (on my original recommendation many years ago) whenever he is in NYC, and then proceeds to torture me with a photo of either his meal, or a photo of him in front of the entrance. I came here on a whim and sat at the bar bc they were fully booked for reservations and I'm so happy I came. First off Sam is amazing. He made me an off the menu pomegranate martini with tequila and *chefs kiss*. For my Hors D'oeuvre I order the Ricotta Ravioli and I was NOT impressed. I in fact did not finish it. Something about it was super mushy and overfilled with Ricotta - not my jam at all. For my entree I went with the Lobster Frites and once again *chefs kiss* it was AMAZING! They stacked the fries sky high and they were a perfect crisp. But that lobster in the garlic butter sauce ... I'm dreaming about it now a day later. 10/10 would recommend and I would come back. While sitting at the bar I got some good recommendations so Pastis will be seeing me again. read more

I AM OBSSES!! Can't get enough of this place. I'm in love with the vibrant atmosphere and the french bistro ambiance dinning room that accommodates enough people inside and outside. It seems that is always packed so get ready to wait a while if you don't have reservations. I promise, is worth it! We were lucky enough to get seated at the bar after 5-8 min wait. They Immediately took care of us. I definitely wanted to try the famous burger ($22), did not disappoint. Super juicy and tender. We also got the garlic parsley butter escargot ($17), YUM! That sauce was next level good. But the highlight of the night was the Lobster Frites ($74), what a treat! Delicious is an understatement. I almost lick the plate hahaha... If you were a Sex and the City fan like me, you'll love it. I felt like Carrie Bradshaw for a few minutes hahaha... I'm coming back for the foie gras, the steak sandwich and the grilled Branzino, also the Entrecôte hahaha... So many good items in the menu!!! Can't wait ;) read more

Located in the meat packing district I found this great spot with huge ambience and great food. Looks like possibly a lot to f business people but the service and food are very good. My eggplant dish was quite different than what I've had elsewhere which made it quite exciting!! Nice crunchy crust filled with eggplant and and cheese not sure what else it had but very good. Not expensive and has outdoor seating. Besides the food the vibe makes this spot extra special. read more

Their food is simply outstanding. We ordered several plates to share--crispy artichoke, tuna crudo, ricotta ravioli, and pâté--and every single one was a 10/10. The vibe was perfect. We had a lovely dinner and decided to grab one more drink at the bar... and ended up staying until they closed. We were finishing a bottle of wine and had just a bit left when our server mistakenly thought we were done and took it away. When we mentioned it, she immediately brought us two fresh glasses of wine on the house. Really appreciated that gesture--customer service was top-notch. We'll definitely be back. read more

Pastis is a really incredible option for French food in the Village. It's a classic French bistro that offers an abundance of seats both inside and out. The menu features many different options to choose from, but both my guest & I opted for the filet steak frites. Perfectly cooked & arguably one of the best in the city, and very comparable to Raoul's (I might even like Pastis's sauce more). Prior to the steak, we started with some oysters which were good...nothing crazy - just your typical oysters. The service was attentive and friendly, and kindly allowed us to take as much time as needed. Reservations at Pastis aren't difficult, but should be made a few weeks prior to ensure an appropriate time. read more
A local legend smack in the middle of the posh meat packing district. I finally got the chance to visit this place and the experience was very pleasant. I was warmly greeted by the 2 hostess and they sat me right away even when I was the first of my party of 5 to arrive. They sat me inside but I was informed by my party that it was supposed to be outdoors. I asked the waiter if the switch was possible and he went to one of the hostess and luckily they were able to make it happen. I ordered the spritz Royale for my drink and it was excellent. Refreshing, crisp, and very pretty to look at. I was given some bread and butter while I waited and fittingly the butter was smooth as silk and served room temp. A small detail I greatly appreciate. I ended up getting a couple apps as my meal and they were both excellent. One of them was the fois gras parfait which was excellent. The plum compote was the perfectttt accompaniment. Provided plenty of tartness and a little bit of sweet to cut through the richness of the fois gras. The other was the escargot which was extra garlicky and had plenty of salt just how I like it. The bread was strategically long and skinny so you can dip it into the baking dish that it came in. Very thoughtful. Our server was also great. He was knowledgable, funny, and kind. I got a gift card to go here a few yeas ago for my bday and I finally made it. As soon as I came into the building the service was impeccable. I was seated promptly and my waiter came over to my table and set my up with water and menus soon after. I tried Escargot for the first time and I was highly impressed with the seasonings and the presentation. I loved the baguettes that came alongside the dish. My St Germaine Spritz cocktail was delicious and well made. It was just perfect to compliment my main dish the Moules Frites, these were some of the most well cooked Mussels I ever had. What I love about Pastis is their simple yet elevated classic cooking. These dishes are traditional and a reminder of how amazing simple cuisine can still be heavenly. The vibe was very dim and upscale and I loved having the corner booth to myself. I'll definitely be coming back here to try more dishes and cocktails. My waitress was also amazing! She was attentive but didn't hover. A 25% tip was well deserved. read more

This review is for weekend brunch. Solid brunch spot that I would come back to. Had a reservation for 2 people at 2pm on a Saturday and it was PACKED. Even when I left around 4pm, it was still packed with people coming and going. Lots of good outdoor seating when the weather is nice. Restaurant seems pretty big and could be good for larger groups. Service was slow, but our server was nice. I ordered: -Croque Madame: standard, but exactly what I wanted. Cheesy, gooey, eggy, and buttery. Comes with a small side salad. -Buttermilk Pancakes: huge portion. Comes with 3 giant pancakes. Fluffy and good. -Pommes Frites: reminds me of McDonald's fries. Crispy and thin - enjoyed. read more

On one of those WFH Mondays where I had enough going on to keep me busy but not enough to keep me glued to my desk, I decided to roll the dice and sneak out to Pastis for a solo lunch as I had been wanting to get here forever. Few things in this life get me going like a quality Steak Frites, and my birthday is in a couple of weeks so I considered it an early birthday present to myself. This is like my 7th early birthday present to myself, but that's neither here nor there. I arrived at 1:30pm with no reservation but with clear eyes and a full heart, and was seated immediately. It was pretty empty barring a few people plugging away on laptops... Laptop in Pastis is a bold move you really can't give an F ahahaha. I sat down and just ordered the Hanger Steak Frites medium rare. You know why I'm here..... also if you order your steak any more cooked than medium rare you need to get your head checked. You are a sinner. You are missing out on so much life... After I ordered, the waiter asked if I wanted bread to start. Yes, Always. Bread, always. Bread and Butter is my bread and butter. My nickname in high school was actually "Bread & Butter" or "B&B." After taking in the ambiance of the beautiful French interior for a bit, I cracked open my book (I'm trying to keep my screen time down hehe... do I get a cookie?) and got a few pages in---BANG! My Steak Frites slammed right on the table. It quite literally took no more than 10 minutes (I have time stamps) from ordering until the belly of the cow that "hangs" below the diaphragm was on the table, which initially concerned me. However, my concern was turned to pure exaltation upon first bite, as the rich and beefy cut of meat was cooked to perfection, with the fries being the perfect compliment. I am on a side quest right now to find the best Steak Frites in NYC, and right now Pastis is holding onto the crown tightly. The crown is heavy though we will see... We came on a weekend and it was really busy, but the service was quick and the servers were friendly. For appetizers, we got the macaroni and cheese and filet steak to share. The steak was so good. It was perfectly tender and juicy. It was also served with fries. For my entree I got the steak sandwich. I would definitely recommend this since it came with a generous amount of steak and the bread was crunch and toasted on the outside but soft in the middle. It came with a ton of fries too. For dessert we got the creme brûlée. It was good, but nothing impressive. read more
Pastis was a super cute French bistro in Chelsea market, with seating both inside and out. My friend and I came for brunch on a sunny Sunday afternoon and it was packed. We were seated in a corner booth which was cute. I ordered the egg white omelette and my friend got the avocado toast. I personally didn't love the egg white omelette and I ended up asking for hot sauce with it. It also only came with 5 pieces of potato which I was personally okay with but just a heads up since I think restaurants usually provide more. However, I think me not loving this meal was partly on me for trying to stay healthy lmao. My friend enjoyed her avocado toast and I know a lot of my other friends had also been here before and enjoyed their meals. I would come again to order some more authentic French dishes. read more

I met a dear friend here for drinks and a bite. I love the ambience and location (a sidewalk cafe in the meet packing). He had a glass of wine and I had a Brut Rose (it was lovely). They have a large selection of wine (by the bottle or by the glass). We were served the Tuna Crudo. It was good. My main complaint is that we actually ordered the Scallop Crudo.... My friend also ordered the Bar Steak Frites. The frites were great. The steak was a little under seasoned but well cooked. Despite the crudo mix up, a lovely experience. read more
Get the lobster frites, it is the best lobster you will ever have. It is served almost shrimp scampi style, with lots of butter, garlic and parsley. Pro tip: scoop the breadcrumb butter mixture on top of the lobster as you eat. Out of the cocktail menu, I like the St. Germain spritz and the bar scene is very lively. Burger also hits the spot, like a classier Big Mac. One caveat, the creme brûlée is better at the sister restaurant, Balthazar. Really good experience but not obsessed! Came on a Friday night in late March at 7:30pm. Had made a reservation for the outside part before I knew how cold it was going to be outside (upper 30s hahaha). The outside was packed with people, even though the heaters weren't very effective (everyone kept their coats on throughout the meal & we couldn't feel our toes when it was time to stand up at the end lolol). Seemed very loud inside the restaurant. The service was good - they were pretty quick, efficient, & professional. Everyone working was happy to help / check up on us. My friend and I each started with French onion soups; cheesyyyy and delicious. They didn't readily offer bread & butter, but they brought it when we asked for it, and it was free (secret menu...? LOL). It was simple bread & butter, what's not to love?! For main, I got the steak frites medium rare with the bar steak. It looks like they kind of changed their menu? It used to be hanger steak - not sure if they just rebranded it as bar steak or what lol, but it wasn't my favorite cut of meat; not the most tender. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare, though. Also wasn't obsessed with the flavor of the butter on top. The fries were almost like elevated McDonalds - in a good way! Random, but the Coca-Cola was gooooood. Had two rounds lol (almost went for a third haha). Finished the meal with the vanilla bean creme brûlée with a warm madeline, and it by far was my favorite dish of the night. So delicious! I was able to score a reservation last minute on this busy Valentine's Day weekend. Once I arrived, I met with the hostess and confirmed the reservation. They seated us within 3 minutes, and our server right away provided water and bread! The ambiance screams romantic with the soft lighting, candles on the table and soft tunes! Our waitress was very attentive and provided exceptional service! Not only is the ambiance great but the food is even better plus the portions are a decent size! We received tons of fries with our meals and additional fresh bread! Drinks : not pictured ( I got 1 St. German Spritz & my partner got 1 agave marmalade ) if you like sweet drinks order St. German Sprits! Ambiance reminded me of the Smith. Super loud when you walk in. Had the Salade Lyonnaise - liked the texture of the frisee which is like a curly tougher version of lettuce. It's not very easy to get reservations at Pastis, but my wife and I had the opportunity to meet my daughter there for brunch on a beautiful Saturday morning in September. The restaurant opened at its new location in the Meatpacking District on Gansevoort a few years ago, but It's as beautiful as ever. From its name on the tile floor, to the zinc bar, it's a distinct NYC restaurant. Since the weather was so nice, we dined in one of the sidewalk seating booths. We started off with a sourdough bread basket along with excellent coffee and chai tea. Our entrees ranged from my daughter's poached eggs with sausages, to my French toast, to the star of the show, my wife's Avocado Tartine. It looked amazing and she loved it! 10/10 You won't feel like you're in Wynwood and instead like you're in New York. I enjoyed the ambiance, service, food and drinks. The artichoke appetizer is so flavorful and a delicious light option before an entree as well as the beef tartare. You'll never go wrong with a croque madame to follow. read more
Pastis is back! My wife finished up her appointment at Arrojo, its our anniversary weekend so I decided to take her to the iconic Keith McNally restaurant in the Meatpacking district. Is Sienna Miller & Jude Law still coming here? Too bad because the drinks as well as the food are still amazing. I have a reservation (highly recommended) Saturday afternoon and the place is PACKED. While we're waiting for our table I go to the bar and order cocktails, my wife wanted something light and effervescent, the bartender made her a proper summer cocktail. Our table is ready and we're seated in the far dining room. I'm studying the diners, lots of locals just enjoying the same thing as us, cocktails and brunch. It's too hot to enjoy the famous French Onion Soup so we started with a lite dish, smoked salmon. The plate was served with buckwheat blinis and crème fraîche. This was the perfect starter, the smoked salmon was a great choice. I do like my salmon at little oily but my next starter fixed that issue. My wife doesn't like raw oysters but she is open to try escargot. The garlic-parsley butter was very rich and decadent. I highly recommend this dish. I ordered the Steak Sandwich, it's a very large portion. I feel like they took the onions from the French Onion Soup, added gruyère and put it on a roll. Now add the Balthazar french fries? Man.. I love brunch! Pastis 2.0 has the restaurant's mosaic-tiled floors along with the classic curved zinc bar. The entire space is adorned with older subway tiles to give the restaurant a true French Bistro feel. It's a classic New York restaurant that shouldn't be missed. read more

What does inside vs indoors mean on resy?
About two weeks ago I asked this exact question to Karen, a manager at Pastis, and she told me that there is absolutely no difference, but that they've been getting that question a lot.
