A cozy cafe serving up some solid breakfast fare. We went with a fairly large group on a weekday morning and we were quickly accommodated. The food is decent and there's a nice variety of options on the menu. Unfortunately, they only serve Eggs Benedict on the weekend. The Pat's Corned Beef hash was good (7/10 rating). Prices are a bit higher for what it is but it's pretty standard for the area I'm guessing due to its closeness to the tourist attractions. Service was attentive and the food was served up fairly quickly. read more

Excellent quality food - the avocado was perfect and that's not always easy to say. Coffee was strong, so if that's your jam, get a mug or two! My kids had the pancake specials and ate everything on their plate. I had a California crepe and it was packed full. Potatoes tasted a bit stale and it was a little confusing upon entering if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait - we stood there for a good couple of minutes awkwardly. But the service was excellent and prompt and the vibe was communal and warm. read more

It wasn't the best I've had and ok at best. I wouldn't make this a hot spot must go to when in the area. Food was bland, little flavor to it. Seating is very tight. Wouldn't recommend anyone with disabilities to go, especially a wheelchair. Services was good and fast. read more

This place was so good! The service was great and everyone was so friendly. The staff were so attentive and kind. They never let your water cup get empty lol! The vibe in there was great too, with art on the walls and a nice, warm, and welcoming feel. The food was the best part though! I had a pancake with a side of bacon and it was probably the best pancake I've ever had. I stole some of my wife's home fries and they were perfect. My wife also said her mocha cafe was amazing! We are not local to the area, but if we were I'd definitely be coming back! I highly recommend this place, only downside is it was slightly on the expensive side, but not much you can do when visiting California lol! Definitely come out and support Pat's Cafe!!! read more

Where are all these good reviews coming from? Not a great experience. The guy upfront wasnt at all welcoming nor friendly. Also buddy are we still chin diapering? The mask is either on your face or not. The phone also kept ringing and he kept picking up the phone to hang up. On the 5th ring he answered and lo and behold it was a takeout order. Why is it written on the menu 'food is made to order so it takes time' - kinda passive aggressive, I know how food works. Water came with our food, 30ish min after we sat down. The food itself... mediocre at best. Cold toast, egg that was too small for the hole, and day old bacon. Meh, would not recommend. read more

A nice spot with good food and friendly service. It was busy which is good to see! Anyway, our party of 4 had just a few minutes wait for our table in the back. The menu is extensive. Also, everything I saw being served around me looked delicious so it was really hard to decide. I got the California omelette and country potatoes. Yum! The wait staff was very attentive and kept checking on us without making us feel rushed. There is a lot of artists work displayed on the wall that is for sale. Visited Pat's for breakfast on our last day in San Francisco. We were looking to pack in a good breakfast before heading for the airport. Place was packed so I knew it had to be a good spot. It sure was indeed! Bright and vibrant decor inside. Decent sized dining area and also outdoor seating available. Hostess seated us quickly and was very personable. All staff was friendly and attentive. Food hit the table quickly, hot and delicious! Ordered a large OJ as well which was very good and not watered down like you get at some places. Pancakes were super good and huge. Real maple syrup was another major plus. You also don't always get uncut maple syrup. Thick when poured and not runny!! We left stuffed and totally satisfied. Highly recommend for a great breakfast!!! read more

We have been to Pat's Cafe many times over the years. Food is always delicious and fresh, and service is quick. The cafe is on the small side, so sometimes there is a wait to get in. Get there early for quick seating. The walls of Pat's Cafe are covered with original art work that is for sale. All are local artists and scenes. Although we now live on the east coast, we make it a point to go the Pat's when we are in San Francisco. read more

Great spot. Small diner ambience with very friendly staff. Ordered breakfast food to go and when I arrived, my order was ready to go and hot off of the griddle. Staff was incredibly helpful and even offered me a coffee to go with my order; which, naturally, I needed. Food was delicious, as breakfast should be. I had the Mexican omelet with toast and fruit. My wife had the ham croissant and a jelly bagel. Excellent. First breakfast place we tried in San Francisco for our short trip, but we will likely return. Highly recommended! read more

Most definitely PaT's Cafe is a five place. We were visiting San Francisco for a few days, our hotel was a 3 minutes walking distance. The Cafe is located in a nice neighborhood, we loved the Cafe so much! that we had our fabulous breakfast 4 times there. The coffee and the menu options is amazing, they serve sourdough bread toast and is SO good . We were a party of 3, and we all were so happy with our breakfast every time we went there. The staff is customer service oriented , they made us feel welcomed. I want to mention that our server Ricardo was so nice, friendly and helpful, he was specially patient :) with my sister, she changed her order a few times. 'The Cafe is cozy' , the food is amazing, so tasty, just like home made, (congratulations to the guys in the kitchen) and the service all together five star! Pat the owner, nice lady, was there with her cute dog, Pat has created a very nice team at the Cafe. We were visiting from Houston, TX and Mexico City. I'm not kidding this is the best tuna sandwich / melt I've ever had. I'm from Nebraska originally and I've always loved tuna, but oh my God I've never had such a good tuna sandwich. Amazing place! You did to go orders twice, once for a waffle. The other for eggs Benedict, even with the time it took to walk home both were still absolute perfection, including the egg on the eggs Benedict running gorgeously! They also have some of the best and more affordable coffee in the city. Small place so you better wake up early! read more

Pats is always a hit. Have a speculation that her staff love her because she runs a tight ship but there's rarely any turnover- consistent team. Besides the great atmosphere, the food is AMAZING! Located a block off the Main Street with all of the other cafes, this hidden gem of a cafe is a must visit for breakfast. Most tourists head further south towards Little Italy but this cafe in the North Beach area had everything you want for a delicious and reasonably priced breakfast. Coffee was delicious!! The staff was friendly and attentive even despite how busy it was. They had indoor and outdoor dining available. We ordered crepes and a crab Benedict. The crab Benedict was a generous serving of a crab cake topped with the perfectly cooked egg. I would definitely get this dish again! read more

Nowadays coming out of the pandemic and finding an original SF hole-in-the-wall cafe/diner is challenging but Pat's is it! Good real breakfast brunch lunch food is delicious! You'll always find the place full with people but little to no wait for a seat. I can recommend trying the Benedict plates and the morning coffee is fresh. read more

Excuse the half eaten plate... the camera did not eat first. This place is in such a great location that is always ready to seat you. The waiters were super nice and on top of it. They brought anything we asked super quick. The food was amazing. I got the pancake combo and got it with chocolate pancakes. It was so good. The other people on my table got the country potatoes and they looked and tasted amazing. For the ambiance it was great. We had 2 dogs with us and they brought us water for the dogs and were super friendly with them. read more

Pat's was about a 5 minute walk from our hotel and was open early. We were able to get a table right away at around 8:00am on a Saturday morning. I had the California omelet which comes with potatoes and toast. X had the breakfast burrito, which also came with potatoes. Both dishes were very good and a huge portion size. We actually easily could've shared it and been completely satisfied. Service was very attentive and very nice. Would 10/10 recommend if you're in the Wharf area looking for a good breakfast spot. read more

I past by Pats a lot and always see that it's crowded with long lines. I came here post thanksgiving and it was so empty so decided to give it a try! It seems like they have regulars who are senior citizens who come a lot which gives a really warm homey vibe to the cafe. The service was quick and they make everything fresh when you put in your order. Pancake special: 9/10 super big and fluffy pancakes! American style chilaquiles: 8/10 potatoes were flavorful! We came on a Sunday (during COViD) at 12pm and had to wait for only 25 minutes for a group of 4, so not bad at all for prime brunch time! They have set up some tables out front. They have heat lamps as well but weren't operational. The staff there is all so nice. We all got mimosas because why not. I ordered the California Omlette with egg whites and it was so good. The chicken sausage inside the omelette was delicious. Hash browns crispy. The food hit the comfort Sunday brunch craving for sure. I ordered the Steak Benedict. Had absolutely zero flavor. Please teach your staff to add salt and pepper. We ordered two "iced coffees". They up charged us a $1 to put freaking ice in it. Didn't add any sugar or cream or anything. We had to ask for creamer. They asked one person at the table if they were done, and decided to take the other persons plate also that had food on it still and wasn't finished. Cool spot to spot in for a delicious meal, ours today was breakfast. Very cozy and welcoming with friendly staff and fast service. Our breakfast this morning was satisfying and plates were all empty. Their French toast was done well, served with eggs and bacon, it all come together beautifully. Another great breakfast spot near the Wharf. Once again, I'd recommed this place instead of toursity/expensive places like Buena Vista or Hollywood Cafe. 1. Crab cakes benedict: Wonderful. The eggs were poached perfectly and the crab cakes were really good. Nice sized portion. 2. Biscuits and Gravy: Eh. My biggest complaint was - they didn't use real biscuits. Instead, they used sourdough bread(?). The gravy was tasty however. I wouldn't recommend getting this... The servers were extremely friendly, the food came out fast and the crab cakes were about $10 cheaper that other places. I'm glad I found this place. I'd recommend! read more

soooo yummy. no one's posted the burrito so i waited until i tackled mine ig to take the photo, i was so hungry. i had to eat before the camera did this time. (egg burrito with chorizo + spinach) wish the sour cream, guac, & pico was actually inside the burrito vs on the side tho. please excuse my pepper use, i love black pepper & was SOOOO stoked for these potatoes but they (pat's) adds sugar to them. completely threw me off, thought it was salt, not good in my opinion :( so just know that! the service was nice, the restaurant was filled with art & photographs for sale that i would assume is local. pretty spacious as well. would go again. read more

The first sign was literally a sign that said open until 3 am. The restaurant was empty on a Saturday afternoon. The decor had changed and the stove was not on. I was so caught up in being at "my spot " I ignored the "signs" no Don standing by the stove no aroma of food AT ALL. No bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Now on to the cafeteria/hospital/ jail food. I never been to jail but this is what I would assume it would look like and taste like it was straight garbage. No one was cooking at the stove I can only assume it was heated in the microwave . I ordered my go to from the past Chicken parmigiana which came with fettuccine . This was not the same comforting meal from years ago. The chicken was burnt around the edges, extremely thin slathered in what I assume was Hunts tomato sauce from a can. It had a dab of mozzarella. The fettuccine was slathered in can sauce too. There was ZERO seasoning . This was the equivalent to nursing home food. It's a disgrace to call this Italian food. Charging $23 dollars for nursing home food is wild. I would side-eye the "good reviews".

Waited an eternity more (we were so hungry, there were few guests and we could see the waiter talking to Pat the entire time, not noticing us looking straight at them like "dude wtf"). I guess we should have got the pancakes bc we got the waffles and disappointingly discovered "waffle" means half of one very thin waffle. Also served cold. For like $13. Left the place still hungry. Will never come back. Am also noticing other negative reviews commenting that they felt their service was poor due to the fact they were not white. Myself and neither of my friends are white. We fell in love with SF 8 yrs ago, and have visited 5 times since. Unfortunately we didn't find this adorable restaurant until a recent visit. Our concierge @ Hyatt Fisherman's Wharf was kind enough to let us in on North Beach's best kept secret. The staff were like family (trite,maybe, but true). The food was impeccable, perfectly seasoned and presented with color and flavor. The decor is bright and cheery with lots of interesting art, which, if I recall correctly, is also for sale. I came here with my boyfriend last night before going to see a show at the comedy club across the street and it was AMAZING. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and our waiter was extremely friendly. I thought it was pretty good but not the best I've tasted. My husband's friend really liked his crepe. My husband had the eggs benedict. Now that was good!!!! The service was friendly, and although we waited about 30 minutes for a table, that felt completely reasonable for such a popular restaurant. That said, I'm giving this place 4 out of 5 stars. The food was delicious, and we had a nice experience, but I didn't leave feeling like it was somewhere I absolutely needed to return. There were a few details that took away from the experience. The restaurant felt a little cramped behind the scenes, and walking to the restroom meant passing the dishwashing area, which was open and visible. Some tables are also located close to that area, and I imagine that wouldn't be the most pleasant place to sit. For such a well-known restaurant with so much history, I think a little more attention to those details would make the overall experience even better. Overall, I'm glad we visited. The food was very good, the atmosphere was charming, and it's definitely worth trying at least once if you're in the area.
