I normally don't have a lot of time to sit down for breakfast, but I'm always happy when I have the opportunity to enjoy a nice meal. Pat's Cafe provided that for us no problem! Pat's Cafe is a cute neighborhood brunch spot. Quaint and unassuming, but you'd never forget once you do stop by. Our servers were super sweet and very attentive! Here's what we ordered: House Coffee - Basic, but free refills! Warmed my soul. Eggs Benedict - I believe this is a weekend special? Also pretty standard, but it's made well. Really loved their house hollandaise sauce! Rich, creamy, and delicious. French Toast Special - My friend chose to get this with scrambled egg and sausages. The egg and sausages were side characters, the French Toast was clearly the star. I haven't had a baguette type French Toast in a while, and this one was made well. Loved it! Overall, great experience! Glad I finally got to try Pat's Cafe after years of walking by. I would love to go back whenever the breakfast craving hits. read more

Fast and friendly service. And even better food. Found this spot as I was looking for a breakfast place near my hotel. At first I didn't want to take the ten minute walk but it turned out to be worth that and more. Try the chilaquiles and the crepes. read more

Both the food and the service were impeccable. The veggie omelet had perfectly cooked brocoli, spinach, diced fresh tomatoes, and the perfect amount of feta cheese. Each and every bite a delight. $4.95 fruit cup substitution is worth it. The outdoor seating was quickly arranged; they pushed two tables together. Two waiters checked in on us: three times for coffee and water refills, plus a refresh of hot water for tea. The coffee was good; I am a coffee snob from Seattle. If you are staying in a nearby hotel, I highly recommend this cafe. I burnt my thumb on the hideous off brand Keurig machine in the hotel. Save yourself the trauma and get your coffee here--in a place where you can linger and savor your experience. We will return here. read more

My husband and I were in San Francisco celebrating our 25th anniversary and my birthday. We were hungry and looking for a good breakfast spot. This place did not disappoint. The staff was amazing, friendly, and fast! Very attentive to all their tables. My husband was hooked on their coffee from the first cup. Nice and strong! The entire menu looks amazing so it was hard to decide what to eat. I went with the crepes with seasonal fruit and my husband got the El ranchero. We ate every last bite! My compliments to the chef. The restaurant was nice and clean and they even had an option to sit outside. However that seems to be the best seats in the house because they were very popular. Definitely recommend Pat's if you are in the San Francisco area. read more

Joanna and I are meandering through San Francisco from an early morning flight to Oakland on our way to the Point Reyes National Seashore. Joanna was hungry for breakfast and I needed life saving coffee. So we stopped at Pat's Cafe and ate delicious food. I had an omelette and Joanna had sausage gravy and biscuits. While walking around and exploring beautiful San Francisco we found this place. And the food was delicious and homemade. They have lots of choices and I couldn't make up my mind so, I stuck with my all time fave eggs Benedict. And boy was it good. The holendaise sauce was by far the best I've had. So lemony. Stopped by chance. It was a nice little spot with an eclectic and fun decor. Crab Cake Benedict was pretty good although the hollandaise sauce had more of a mayo consistency. The Banana Granola pancakes were delicious! I also really enjoyed the mocha that accompanied my brunch experience. Definitely a must try if in the area. Service was great. I thoroughly enjoy Pat's Cafe! I give it 5 stars because Pat herself is always there dining at her table against the wall near the register and she wears this uber cool red vest with matching red star earrings. It's such an honor to have an owner actually assist you to your table, hand you the menus, and actually eats their own establishment's cooking. The fact that I've seen Pat every time I've eaten here speaks volume about her passion for her business. Pat's is a solid choice for breakfast/brunch and the line doesn't get too crazy. I know everyone usually likes to go to Mama's nearby, which don't get me wrong is delicious in itself, but Pat's is also a heavy contender on the North Beach brunch scene! The decor is really cute with local artwork on the walls and plenty of colorful flowers. The staff here are so friendly and they're very dilligent about filling your water or your coffee! I had the Polk St. omelette, it's basically a Denver omelette with bacon added. It comes with house potatoes and toast of your choice. Solid choice in my book! I don't think you can really go wrong with anything here as my wandering eyes kept admiring all of the other patron's dishes. read more

Pat's cafe reminds me of a classic diner with their home-style decor and cozy photos on the wall. It's a tiny spot and we had a table right in the street facing window corner. The french toast was moist and thick! They have real maple syrup upon request and give you generous portions. The bacon was crisped to perfection, where it just melts in your mouth and although my scrambled eggs were over cooked everything else made up for it. They offer a variety of juices and teas and the service is great. Always stopping by to check in and see how your meal is coming along. I had high hopes for this spot. There was a line at the door which is normally a good sign. We waited 50 minutes after being seated to get our food. We felt rushed when ordering our food and the waiter was not friendly at all. The food was ok once we were able to eat. There was a friendly guy with a man-bun that helped us tab out since our waiter disappeared at the end. If you are in the area I'd recommend visiting Eight AM instead. We were heading towards the piers & looking for a decent place to eat breakfast. We landed on the perfect spot. Led by Yelp reviews of course. We masked up and grabbed a table in the back. We did also have to present our vax cards to eat inside FYI. The menu I found to be eclectic. I ordered the vegetable hash with an egg on the side. I've never ordered such a thing for breakfast before, but it was freaking good. I had to get bacon on the side - just because - bacon! My kids had a Mexican stacked breakfast that they loved. I forget the name, but they were looking for a chilaquiles style of dish and this fit the bill. Portions are large and generous. We had coffees and juice as well. You can tell the great pride and care that is found in this place with regard to serving customers. We felt very welcomed and taken care of! If you find yourself in the north beach area. Came here a while back with my girlfriend and we LOVED the customer service and the food! She ordered the chocolate chip pancake (it was HUGE, like bigger than her face). And I ordered the steak and eggs. The food was cooked to perfection and our waiter was super friendly and attentive with us. Super random note: They have so many photos of cats on the walls and we LOVED it so much! I think the cats belong to the owner and it's so cute seeing all the adorable pictures. There is also a lot of artwork done by locals which is nice for the business to show support for them. Great business, friendly customer service, and tasty food. Waited an eternity more (we were so hungry, there were few guests and we could see the waiter talking to Pat the entire time, not noticing us looking straight at them like "dude wtf"). I guess we should have got the pancakes bc we got the waffles and disappointingly discovered "waffle" means half of one very thin waffle. Also served cold. For like $13. Left the place still hungry. Will never come back. Am also noticing other negative reviews commenting that they felt their service was poor due to the fact they were not white. Myself and neither of my friends are white. Wonder if that had anything to do with the terrible service. read more

We fell in love with SF 8 yrs ago, and have visited 5 times since. Unfortunately we didn't find this adorable restaurant until a recent visit. Our concierge @ Hyatt Fisherman's Wharf was kind enough to let us in on North Beach's best kept secret. The staff were like family (trite,maybe, but true). The food was impeccable, perfectly seasoned and presented with color and flavor. The decor is bright and cheery with lots of interesting art, which, if I recall correctly, is also for sale. I came here with my boyfriend last night before going to see a show at the comedy club across the street and it was AMAZING. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and our waiter was extremely friendly. I didn't really know what to order (in the end I went for the special of the day, a stuffed chicken breast) and he took the time to explain everything and even picked a chardonnay for me that was very nice. Me, my husband and his friend stumbled across Pat's Cafe. We were so hungry and Pat's Cafe looked good from the outside. My husband's friend and I had the California crepe with their homefries. I thought it was pretty good but not the best I've tasted. My husband's friend really liked his crepe. My husband had the eggs benedict. Now that was good!!!! Our family has been visiting Pats Cafe for over 15 years. It's a cozy, family-oriented spot that attracts travelers from all over. Recently, Pat added a new item to her menu, and it turned out to be one of the best breakfasts I've ever had! Perfectly prepared with EVOO and capers, it rides atop mini potatoes and sautéd veggies like King Fish. My partner had the Pork Tenderloin wrapped in bacon. That too was outstanding.
