I mean, it was enough to feed the BF and I but it was just all right for me, even as thin crusts go. For those of you who like tons of cheese on your pizza, you'll probably like the Pat's special, otherwise if you don't get the pats special you can create your own (at more than $2 per topping on top of a pretty hefty base price). For a pick up and delivery place (there's nowhere to really sit in the "restaurant"), its really super pricy for what it delivers. and i think they raised the Pat's special personal pizza to $8+ now. So I would really give this about 3.5 stars, but I usually round up for these things. This place just a block away from me, so I actually end up coming here relatively often. I also get coupons to the restaurant in the mail, so that further incentives me. All we have ever gotten from here in their thin crust pizza. We've tried a fair number of them, and most all of them have been enjoyable. My only complaint is the price. I feel that it is expensive and I'm not sure that it would be worth it if I didn't live so close. In fact, I know I wouldn't come here if it wasn't a short walk away. I hate to do this, but after a HORRIBLE experience with Pat's, I need to update my review to a 1 star. I rarely give 1 stars, but this experience was beyond frustrating, and the aftermath is even more annoying. It all started on a Saturday night in October. My friend came over to chill, eat pizza, and watch scary movies. Fun times, right? What started as a dream turned into a nightmare... There was a parade in the area that evening, but we ordered around the start time and gave delivery instructions. The parade blocked one major street that was 2 streets over but the streets to get my building were clear. There were a number of ways they could have reached us so we didn't think to give explicit directions or anything. And anyway, we figured they would call if there were any issues. That was my mistake. The delivery estimate was longer than what I experienced the last time I ordered. The previous time, the food came super quick and was AH- MAZING! I wasn't expecting the same speed given the parade, but noted the extended time although it seemed reasonable. The order was estimated to arrive a little over an hour even though it's a quick drive to my place. No big deal; we're patient folks. After over an hour and still no pizza, I decided to call. A woman answered and after looking up my pizza she informed me that it hadn't left yet and that they were backed up because of the parade. Then, she randomly told me to hold on and that she would get the manager. Okay, I thought. I was okay with her original explanation even though it was annoying. The manager gets on and informs me that the delivery guy was already at my place awhile ago but couldn't get in. Needless to say, I was annoyed. I never received a phone call and had no idea my pizza was nearby. Firstly, the delivery person should have been able to reach my building as usual, but secondly, I would have gladly met the driver downstairs and even a block over, if needed. The point was my friend and I were both starving and wanted some tasty pizza. I told the manager the points above, and while he sounded sorry, he never apologized and told me that he told the driver to go to the next place and to return to the restaurant afterwards, not even trying to complete a second delivery attempt. I asked him what he was going to do and he said he would talk to the driver when he returned. At this point, I am hangry but remained calm. About 15 minutes later, I receive another call from the manager telling me the driver returned and said that it was "impossible" to get to me. I told him of all the major streets that were open to reach me and he said, yes, but the driver won't be able to deliver to me. At this point, I was over it, asked him to cancel and refund my money, which he agreed to, and that was that. For the next few days, I monitored my credit card and didn't see the charge nor the refund so didn't think much of it. I figured it was a slow transaction, it's a small business, who knows. Randomly, several days later, I see the charge hit my account. At this point, I message GrubHub customer service, tell them about what transpired, they reached out to the restaurant, the manager said he doesn't remember any of this, and refuses to refund my card. GrubHub said because I never filed a ticket when it first happened that they would not be able to credit my account. And here I was trying to be patient with a small business. Darn me! So, here we are, days later. I reached out to my credit card company (shout out to Chase!). They file fraudulent activity, promptly issue me a refund, and call it a day. So the moral of the story is, be the squeaky wheel and give up on humanity. The end. Just kidding. Actually, I'm torn. Because the first experience was soooo great and this last experience sucked. Pat's is my go-to pizza delivery place in downtown Chicago for thin crust pizza. The pizza is perfectly crispy. The toppings are fresh and flavorful. It's delivered quickly and the people on the phone are nice. I wish there were some better coupons or deals at this place. If that had been the case, I might even order Pat's more often. The pizza quality is inconsistent and overpriced for the experience. Their thin crust 4 cheese pizza was bland and had no flavor. I remember their crunchy crust was tasty and this time it felt dry and crumbly. The thin crust pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms and olives did not have enough pepperoni and cheese; there was an entire 1" of the crust on the outside left without any toppings. For two 14" pizzas I paid $55 - this is a lot for the quantity and the quality. The price is comparable to places like Piece and Eataly (each in their own league.) Took a flyer on Pat's a few years ago. They left their menu on my gate not long after moving to Pilsen. See what I did there? English language. Word play. Learn that. I looked them up on Yelp since I wasn't familiar w/them, and saw their thin crust (I guess it's called "tavern style" now) looked hella thin. Cracker-like. White peoples. Sho 'nuff, their pizza was, and still is the truth. Their sauce doesn't have any sweetness to it, which is a nice change of pace from D'Agostino's, who I been ridin' with for a while now. Appropriate amount of cheese and toppings, and overall just a great flavor. The only drawback to ordering from Pat's is their pizza is small, especially for what you pay. Their largest size is a 16", so if you're feeding a group of people, you best order more than 1 pie. Or if it's just you and one other person, and y'alls both high as a giraffes ass, you could easily kill one pizza yourselves. That means no leftovers. And who doesn't like leftovers? That's a rhetorical question. Put your two cents in the bank, with ya broke a**. Why they don't offer an extra large pizza is beyond me. Probably some price gouging tactic. Oh well. Tonight we ordered a 12" to our office and on my half, I ordered pepperoni, black olives & green peppers, and it was loaded with the toppings! Yet, while the crust was thin and crispy, it was also solid and supportive, and didn't fall apart in my hands as I was eating it. We also ordered side salads, but mine is in the fridge for lunch tomorrow, as I was full quickly! (My colleague ordered fries, so there was that... they were yummy, but now I just openly admitted - on the Internet - that I ate pizza and fries for dinner... d'oh!) We were hoping to have a nice night in with wine and pizza for our anniversary. I mistakenly ordered the pan pizza and it was very unappetizing. You couldn't pick up a slice without all of the cheese falling off and the taste wasn't anything special. We didn't eat it and were disappointed since it wasn't cheap. BAIT AND SWITCH BE WARNED- their actual prices are NOT EVEN CLOSE to what shows on the Yelp menu. Very deceiving. Called to ask why the receipt was so expensive on delivery (medium pizza no toppings, soft drink, and mozzarella sticks $37 before tip?!) and got a lot of BS from the owner about "competitors" putting false prices on Yelp and how they can't get Yelp to change it. Do you really think we're that stupid? Suggest corrections is right there on the Yelp menu with a link to log in for priority corrections as a business owner. "Mozzarella sticks, fried zucchini" $5 on the Yelp menu is actually $6.50 + $6.50 (two separate items) so it rings up as $13 instead of the $5 you thought you ordered. Pizza is $17.50 instead of $14. "i'm very sorry, I'm deeply sorry" if you're so sorry than comp the bill so we pay for what we thought we ordered, not waffle your way through excuses and BS and nonsense about how you're going to get your "attorney" to call Yelp in the morning. I have half a mind to go dump your greasy pizza back on your front door and start a chargeback. Thought it was strange that they didn't confirm the price on the order, and now that looks even more suspicions. I've ordered from Pats for years of living in the south loop and have not had any issues. Last night I ordered a Pats Special and the crust was stuck to the cardboard. I thought because it was hot and fresh after cooling down it would come apart but it didn't. I contacted Pats and explained the situation and they said while veggies get soft and make the dough wet it was the very first ever time they've had a complaint. I asked for a future credit and the manager Danny refused so I will frequent the other pizza places in the area. So long from a long term pats pizza fan. I'd probably opt for two of their slices stacked on top of one another over almost anything thick in Chicago. Why? Besides the fact that I'd shower in their delicious sauce, they have toppings galore. It's the super thin cracker crust that gets flimsy after a few minutes and the flavor doesn't do anything for me. On the other hand, this kind of crust is good for those who are watching their carb intake. As the pizza got colder, the cheese's true personality came out. Cheap and fake.
