My daughter ordered our meals, as she went to pick up, they forgot the drinks. They told her to pull back around for the drinks, that they would give them to her for free. I don't know how it was going to be free when she had already paid for them. When she got to my house, the orders were wrong. She called and spoke to one of the workers, she let them know that the orders were wrong. I live in Orange so she asked if she could go to the Orange location to correct their error. Although they have the same district manager, they could not accommodate, they would not give refund her money. No help at all. read more

Had dinner here tonight with my brother. We were slightly disappointed today. We ordered a bacon cheeseburger burger special with zucchini fries instead. The zucchini fries were delicious as always but the burger was extremely soggy. The burger had way too much sauce on the bun even the leaf lettuce felt very soggy. Can't imagine how soggy the burgers get when you order to go. We dined in and when we went to bite into our burgers the bun was already so soggy and toppings falling out. read more

We used to come here all the time. But this past time is our last. We ordered on the phone 2 burger combos and we were in the restaurant ready to pick up in 7min after placing the order. Once inside the wait was long (5-7min to pay) and I could see several orders in boxes on the side of the counter. Understandable because the place was packed. Long story short i watched them take our food out the box and place it on a tray for us (order was for dine in) and the food was cold. The lady explained it was being held in a hot box but it was still cold (the meat). She then said the order was made as I placed it on the phone. Because the place was so busy i believed they did make it as soon as it came in on the phone. But then that means it just sat there 10min while i was able to arrive and pay. It was packed and only one cashier AND she was answering the phoned in orders too. Not acceptable for a packed Saturday night. So i got the food which i paid 36$ for and I told them that it was cold and they still started explaining to me why it was cold (like I had said earlier the food was made as I placed it on the phone.) i don't care why the food is cold. I am not telling them so they give me an explanation, Im telling them so they can fix it. They eventually offered to remake it after going back and forth. Poor customer service honestly. Im not coming back because now we live far away and today we made the drive since this was our go to spot. Honestly this could have been avoided if they told me on the phone how soon the order would be ready in. If they had said ready in 5min I would have waited and ordered once we were closer to the restaurant. If the owner is good they read this and talk to their employees about customer service skills. read more

So, for all the years we've been coming to this Paul's, which we claim as our FAVORITE Paul's Place, we normally hit the drive-thru. Last night after a physically exhausting day, we decided to treat ourselves to a nice Paul's BLT and Fried zucchini. The drive-thru was very busy, so I decided to run inside and order there (good thing I did, because some of the cars that were in the drive-thru when we arrived were still there when we had our food and left). Each of our BLT's were spectacular, as usual. Just filled to the brim with fresh lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and thick, hearty bacon. And the fried zuchinni was hot, fresh, crunchy to a degree, and tasty, as well. Everything was so fresh. The wife proclaims their ranch dressing just as good as hers! lol I would have given 5 stars, but there was one drawback, not to the food, but to the experience because of something inside the restaurant. As soon as I walked through their front doors, I was hit with this horrific sewer-smelling odor. It was like the ac system had been piping in straight sewer smell. I thought "uh oh, someone's having bathroom issues." But after I ordered, I went to the bathroom and it was shockingly better smelling in there than in the restaurant. I don't know what's going on with this (Oh and the bathroom was pretty clean in appearance, as well) but it needs to be addressed. I don't know how the people eating inside the restaurant could handle it. I know I couldn't. Good thing my order was to-go. But don't think it has anything to do with the cleanliness of the kitchen or anything like that. Again, to sum up, we'll continue to enjoy Paul's in the future. Service was with a smile, as well. P.S. I just wanted to address a previous commenter's comment about soggy fries? We don't like soggy fries, either. We ALWAYS ask for slightly well done, like we did with our zuchinni. Just as a form of insurance. I think you should give Paul's a second chance. Now cucumbers in the rice of another commenter? Can't help you with that one. That DOES sound odd. Paul's Place is consistent. Always tasty, always a fair price, always quick, always clean, always good service. This location has a bit less parking than the Knott Ave. location, but it's just as good in every way. From the club sandwich to the feta burger, it's always a fam fav. :) read more

Paul's Place has gotten greedy & contrite. They used to be one of my favorite. I was a regular at Orangethorpe, Los Al and Knott Ave. Then Knott Avenue totally pissed me off with their breakfast service, with their paper everything ... and the making you beg for every sauce, creamer, sugar packet ... and their attitude about it was terrible! Then I encountered the same thing for dinner in Los Alamitos. And I spent almost $100 on a to go order in Buena Park, got home and literally half the order was wrong. We actually questioned if we didn't get someone else's order. So I am done with Paul's there are just too many other options out there that are just as good, if not better. I seriously suspect the chain was sold. Just too many changes and too large a slip on the service for it to still be run by the family that won us all over. I give it two 2 stars because the food is decent if you get what you actually ordered. read more

Been coming here for years but because of the manger will no longer give service. I use to pick up food here a couple times a week due to it being open early when im off from work but this time my order was completely wrong. I called and they said they would replace my burger which was fine, they next day when I try to get my burger replaced the manager was only trying to give me credit for the condiments not the whole burger. She argued me with me about it and made it seem I was trying to get free food when I only wanted my burger replaced not even the whole meal. They also have a homeless man clean their tables inside and sweep outside which I thought was nice at first to give someone a chance until I see the same man at night using the side of the building as a bathroom plus never washing his hands when he comes inside and starts cleaning the tables read more

Once I got home I realized I never got the ranch I asked for and that my egg sandwich was burnt. I called to let them know and they handed the phone to the guy who had helped me in the drive thru. He apologized for not giving me the ranch but when I told him my sandwich was black/burnt. He tried to justify that that is how the eggs come off the griddle... wtf who serves their customer black eggs and tries to justify it?? I let him know the eggs were not black lmao but my bread was burnt and partially black and he was like "oh well you can drive back here and get another one"... We felt like having a REAL burger from a REAL burger joint and as we were meeting a client close by, Paul's Place seemed to be an easy choice, also and especially as we've never been there before. Not disappointed at all! Cheese burger and double cheese burger were both sizeable, nice juicy patties, a bun that was normal and definitely not as huge as other joints would like to serve you. We are suckers for crispy fries and they delivered 100%, no compromises. Service OK, we kind of like the loud voice with emphasis on the second syllable but that might not be everyone's taste. Place itself is a bit tired and I had to maneuver myself a bit on the worn out bench... I'm only 5'8" short and 180 lbs light ;-). Been eating at Paul's for MANY years. They've seen our children, grandchildren grow up and witnessed grief as a family member passes away. Great granddaughter is now a Paul's member, too. She's graduated from highchair to actually sitting at the table. Service dogs are allowed outside. Restaurant is always clean and decorated for holiday seasons. We usually hit up the Orange location though this time were were craving some while in Buena Park. We had the double burgers and fried mushrooms. We found a spot to picnic a bit down the road and pulled the eats out. The burgers tasted like they were steamed while the buns and lettuce contents made these a soggy mushy mess to eat. Could literally squeeze the bun and it would drip water out from the soggy lettuce. The mushrooms were way "ripe" so even though on the outside they looked good they were basically dark brown/black inside. What a waste of $. We'll stick with the Orange location where the the burgers are well built, char grilled and fries or mushrooms crispy and fresh. read more

Went here yesterday for lunch just because it was close to where my son had his game, the reviews had me a little nervous about trying it for the first time. But everything was really good! I got the wet green pork burrito and it was HUGE! It had such a good flavor as well, not spicy at all though but still really good. My bf got the avocado burger with feta fries and tzatziki sauce and he loved everything! My son liked his kids meal burger and fries, and loved that it came with a little pack of Oreos. We also had a side of fried mushrooms and zucchini and . We got a LOT of food and the total came out to only $54. Will be coming back! read more

Have been going to Paul's place for years. Always love the options, portions, and price. Stopped by the Buena Park location for a quick breakfast. Ordered the greek omelette with hashbrowns. Portion size and price were spot on. The meal came out hot with plenty of ingredients in the omelette to make it special. My only request would be the hash browns could of used a little more seasoning on them. They were hot and crispy but lacked a little flavor. The other thing I love about Paul's is the decorations for the seasons. The place was packed with Christmas decorations and it made it feel so homey when I was eating my breakfast. We have been coming here for 26 yrs already. We always wait which was ok. Tonight i ordered togo. Its about 30 mins of waiting when i saw one of my orders was given to someone at drive thru. The old lady who was there had a hard time explaining when i asked why my order was given. All she kept on saying was "we are busy here." I think this lady has poor judgment because she is old. Looking for a classic burger joint to enjoy good food, this is the place. Staff is friendly and welcome you as you walk up to place your order. Cool ambiance with booth seating. The menu is extensive and you have a lot to choose from. Not sure you can go wrong with anything you choose. Bacon burger - can't go wrong with a classic. Good tasting and cooked perfectly but not mind blowing. It's your typical bacon burger. Meat was tender, bacon was crispy as it should be, lettuce, tomato and onions. Fried zucchini - these are amazing. Batter is crispy and not overwhelming. Zucchini is crunchy to the bite yet soft in the middle. Dusted with some Parmesan cheese ands a nice touch. Their ranch is great for dipping your zucchini, fries etc. One thing to try as well is their fried mushroom. Those are great if you like mushrooms. Nice batter with some crunch and the ranch again is great. These are whole mushrooms so keep that in mind. If ever in the area and you want a burger give this place a try. We've come here multiple times and a little more than half the times they put cheese on things where we specifically say no cheese. Today we ordered a double chili burger with only bacon and chili. In the bag was a double cheeseburger. When I called back to let them know, my husband would be over to pick up the new burger. Lots and lots of fries. Everyone in my party took food home. Great place to eat and very friendly workers. Also, they have a drive thru and a whole lot of indoor seating. I used to visit Paul's place every Sunday 10+ years ago for couple years and I recently visited back here in a craving and omg, it's still amazing! It's your typical diner/burger joint/fast food place but they get everything right. We recently visited during lunch time for to-go on a weekday and the drive thru line had at least 5 cars in front of us and continued to grow behind us. It was my boyfriends first time visiting so we decided to get a large variety and got the bacon cheese burger, colossal burger, fried zucchini, fried mushrooms, and onion rings. Everything came out FRESH, it was hot, steaming, and greasy (in a good way). When you're in the mood, you are in the mood. Every single thing we ordered was delicious. The burgers were juicy on both of the burgers we ordered and the pastrami on the colossal burger was really tender and not overly salty. I love the shredded lettuce they use which is SO underrated. It makes packing lettuce so much easier. The sides we got were MASSIVE (obviously a lot of food for 2 people) but so, so, soooo delicious. The zucchini was my boyfriends favorite and the onion rings were my favorite. We will most likely skip the fried mushrooms next time, we have nothing against them, it just wasn't as good as the other 2. Idk if they make their own ranch here but it's like crack. The ranch makes everything taste great The employees are quite friendly and they have their own parking lot.
