It was only one visit but everything I ate was very delicious. Crispy veggie rolls were fried fresh and served steaming hot, my dining partner ate all his pad Thai , I ordered the drunken noodles spicy level 3 and it was perfect and a nice portion. I also liked that they seemed to take pride in the appearance of the dining room. Plenty of windows so it's bathed in natural light. Both workers that I saw seemed pleasant and smiled. This is a little gem hidden behind a Cajun seafood restaurant. I walked in and didn't expect great fare but I was so wrong. I had the pad Thai and it was amazing. If you go for lunch the meal comes with soup and salad. The miso was also flavorful and you can skip the salad. Overall, I am happy to find this place. Price is on the lower side at under $10 for lunch. Only saw the lunch menu and it has a good selection. Not a bad option if your near Guadalupe street in Austin. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon after driving last it many times in the last couple weeks. Walked in and there was one other person inside so I was a bit nervous. As soon as I say down I was served a cold water and one of the employees walks out the back with a large fan pointed in my direction because the air conditioning was broken. The fan felt great and I was very pleased. I ordered the yellow curry with medium spicy and it had plenty of flavor along with a large size portion of both rice and curry. They even offer more rice if you so please. The emoter staff was very friendly and willing to help me in anyway. They felt very bad about the air conditioning but it wasn't an issue at all for me. First time patron, and as one does at a place call Pad Thai Restaurant, I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai - Hot. But know, the menu is extensive with a large selection of Thai dishes, including soups, stir frys and vegitarian options. The whole place is straight up legit Thai, down to the drone of Thai Muzak in the background. The Pad Thai I got was a very generous portion and delicious, seved with ground peanut, cabbage and lime. But hear me now white people. This isn't run of the mill hot. When you order hot, it is no joke. This isntametuer, tex-mex hot. It hurt. But in a sweaty, nasal clearing way. You have been warned. This has been a favorite of mine for years, but the cleanliness has somehow gotten instantly worse instead of better during the COCOD outbreak. Also, I visited the Pad Thai restaurant and no employees wore protective masks or made any effort for social distancing while serving customers. The upbeat 80's music is a little off-putting. Something a little more soothing would be more fitting for dinner. The staff refilled my ice tea as soon as it got low. I was glad I didn't have to ask. This is about as reliable as you can get, always consistent. Fisherman's soup is my go-to. flavorful broth, decent amount of seafood, and the perfect amount of spice. Green curry, throw in some chicken, make it spicy as all hell, and your tummy will thank you. The pad kee mao for some reason, always comes with the noodles stuck together, its super annoying. But, it's OK/Good Is this the best Thai food you will ever eat? No... Is it good enough to go to when its convenient for you and worth the money you spend? Yes... I should have known better than to go to a restaurant called "Pad Thai." It's the equivalent of going to a Chinese restaurant that's called "Fried Rice" or a Mexican place called "Taco." I don't know why but I just fell into this little trap. Just to give a disclaimer...it's about a 2.5 star. My typical favorite is always the Pad See Ew, stir-fry flat noodles with chinese broccoli. It honestly had no flavor at all, I had to sprinkle salt on each bite just to receive any ounce of enjoyment. My other friend who is as picky as a six-year old child ordered the Thai Fried Rice and that actually contained a ton of flavor, but honestly how hard it is to screw up fried rice eh? The Thai Fried Rice was your standard fare fried rice with a tinge of sweetness and the tomatoes made it quite unique. The green curry was pretty average and lacked any heat. I like curry that makes me sweat a little but this one was pretty mild. The biggest problem was that they tried to upcharge all the dishes versus the competitors in town. Each dish was about $9+ compared to the $7 beginning price point at places like Madam Mam's or Titaya's Bottom Line: You can get better consistency/quality Thai food elsewhere for a better price. read more

Someone pretty great is looking out for me. He suggested that we go here for our lunch the other day. I was in an insufferable mood and not excited about going, but one needs to eat even when they're frustrated. A three-ish star rating, my mood, and the fact that I've driven past this place a gajillion times over the years without ever thinking twice about going were all factors in my coming in with a completely dejected, "whatever" frame of mind. I'm glad this someone is around me, because were he not, I wouldn't have had this totally delicious curry. I initially thought I'd order the pad thai (it's in the name, after all), but if I had any chance of getting out of sad-town, it was curry or nothing. I was torn between green and red curry, which is common, but red ultimately won. I ordered the Gang Pah with tofu and a vegetable mix of bamboo strips, cabbage, zucchini, carrots, mushrooms, bell peppers, baby corn, and some other vegetables. It's marked as medium spice, which is a fairly accurate rating. The vegetables have a nice bite to them, which is great because mushy vegetables in Thai curries can be pretty depressing. The portion is sizable; enough for a large lunch or two smaller meals if you want to take some to go. The decor isn't anything terribly impressive and it doesn't give the "hang out" vibe, but it's clean and nice enough. The woman at the counter was very nice and quick with taking our orders, delivering food, and refilling our water when it was necessary. Saturday night at 7pm and there were two other diners sitting by themselves and one young family in the back. There was dramatic 80's music playing. I haven't been here in maybe a year. The waiter seemed to have things on his mind and was a little inattentive. The shrimp spring rolls left a lot to be desired. There was a huge chunk of cucumber in each one that didn't work for me, and the peanut sauce was warm and too grainy for my taste. I also ordered the yellow gang garee curry with chicken. Like others mentioned it is a little salty. If this were my first time here I would most likely rate it a 2 and never come again. I'm no expert on Thai food so keep that in mind for this review. What gives this place a good feeling in my tummy? Well the extremely reasonable lunch prices for one. I ordered the Pad Puk. It is a combination of broccoli, zucchini, snow peas, mushrooms, and some rice. It was pretty delicious. Especially for 7 bucks. I also got to choose the level of spiciness. I chose 3 out of 5 on their spicy scale and it wasn't too overpowering at all. They even had little baby corns in the stir fry. That's what I ate essentially -- Some stir fry. Bonus? They have a soup/salad bar for no extra charge with your meal. They had a coconut soup when I went and a regular american salad as well. The location this place is in is known for being cursed. Any place that names itself pad thai better have awesome pad thai. So, naturally I order it. It does a decent job of bringing out all of thai food's combination of flavors: salty, sweet, spicy, bitter among many others, but I think my dish came with too much tamarind as it was much more bitter than I think it should have been. Chicken was a bit on the low side too. Personally I'm not a huge fan of crushed peanuts, but they sprinkle ample amounts of it on your pad thai so buyer beware. I also tried the fried rice balls: these little nuggets of deep fried rice are like gold pearls ready for dunking into the orange sauce. Great textural contrast and taste that makes for the perfect appetizer, if it wasn't so pricey. Pineapple fried rice is a mixed bag it seems depending on how sweet the pineapple is: I have nothing against fresh, fruity pineapple, but if its really that sweet and fruity, it needs to be balanced out a bit more with soy or some salt. Definitely do want to come back and try more noodle dishes, especially since its a stone throw away from my house...given the lack of asian food near campus, this place is up there on the list of considerations. read more

This is probably one of the best Thai places that I've been to in Austin. Pretty big portions of fresh ingredients. Got the eggplant w tofu, drunken noodles, and green curry w tofu. Everything was super delicious but maybe I'll need to ask them to bump up the spice level. read more

Best Pad Thai I've ever had. Warning: they do not play around with their spices! If you can't handle heat, stick to mild. I walked in at 9:32pm, a female sat me and 2 minutes later a gentleman came to my table and told me they close at 10:00pm and wanted to know if I was going to be done by 10pm. He was very rude, he asked what I wanted.. I told him I need a menu, he rolled his eyes. After getting a menu I order two appetizers to speed things up for the staff. The rude dude brought my food along with my check. Never followed up with me. As soon as I put my credit card out to pay the bill he grabbed it off the table. Both of the appetizers were good. But due to the service I doubt I will ever go back. I left the store at 10:01. Maybe management may consider closing at 9:30 since the staff is ready to go by that time anyway. read more
