I also bought the living social deal and went in for an appointment about 2 months ago in July for a mani/pecdi. When the girl asked me what shape I wanted my nails, I said the same and she rolled her eyes and seemed irritated. My manicure only lasted three days before chipping and in less than a week I just took off the polish. Here is the really bad part, within that same week I developed a peeling redness on the right side of my big toe. There was irritation and itching and it spread across my foot and to the other foot also. I started treating it with antifungal cream. This is the only place I have ever gotten a pedicure and had that problem. I reported it to the Oregon Health Board but have heard nothing back from them since. I am still trying to get rid of whatever kind of infection I got from their tubs. I would DEFINATELY NOT reccommend going here. read more

I chose Pearl after looking in on a higher rated salon that was rushing customers through and the women at Pearl were friendly and were taking gentle care of their clients. They were affordable, skilled and clean. I loved the hot stone gentle massage during my pedicure. read more

They screwed over my friends and they didn't uphold their living social agreements. Awful business practices.

I wish there was an option for 0 stars. I also had a living social coupon. A business is suppose to participate in order to build a client base and I can't remember ever being treated so rudely as I was by this place...and that was just over the phone! I recently moved here and would love to find a regular place to get a pedicure. I had to cover a shift for someone at work and called to cancel my appt 3 hours in advance. They told me I lost my voucher and they didn't care if they lost a customer. I needed to call 24 hours in advance and I didn't even make an appt that far in advance. Amazing. I don't even mind losing the money now...getting a mani/pedi should be a relaxing treat and wouldn't be at this place. I'm still stunned at the persons rudeness on the phone. Ugh. read more

A friend brought me to Pearl Nails; she has been coming for quite awhile. I thought the salon was clean, the staff eager to please and the nail color selection very nice. Prices are reasonable and they were happy to have walk-ins. I had a manicure and she did a lovely job. read more

I decided to get my nails filled yesterday afternoon around noon, Tiffany was preforming my fill and as she started to work on my nails, I expressed to her that I did not like them. She asked me why and I told her she was making them too narrow and too thin. She argued with me and told me my nail bed is narrow. I had paid $60 dollars for the set I had on before I came in and I told her I don't have time for her to fix them cause in order to fix them, she would have to take them all off. I was completely shocked when she grabbed my hands and took a large clipper and aggressively cut ALL my nails off down to the nub. I was furious and asked "what are you doing! your cutting my real nail!" we argued for about 20 minutes about why she would do something like that and her reasoning was because she said she wasn't going to let me leave with the nails she filled because then I could go get them fixed. She told me people have told her they don't like her work and so her solution is to cut the nails off. BY cutting all my nails off she also wasted my entire lunch and stressed my nail beds with her terrible technique. Now I have to pay $60 to get a new set. I am shocked at this kind of in-human treatment. They're lucky I haven't tried to sue. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

I had a horrible experience at this place. I will never go back again. The lady didn't even use my pedi kit that I brought in - she used their used ones - the water was cold to begin with, then extremely hot. I went with a friend and when my friend asked for more than one polish layer on her toenails and said two would be fine - her lady put 3 on and said "you happy now?" with a very snotty attitude. I got the salt rub and lotion rubbed all over my wedding ring - into the crevices and was not happy with that at all. Then they told us to walk into the bathroom to wash our hands - bare foot - GROSS! I will never go back to this place again and hope that you will read this post before deciding to go. read more

I live near Hawthorne Blvd., but I travel over to this NW salon because I think it is cleaner and that they provide better overall service at great prices comparatively. I can not say that I am "a diehard regular" because I only treat myself to a mani/pedi once every 6-8 weeks. On my last visit I witnessed some heated discussions between new clients utilizing the aforementioned coupon. I can see both sides of the issue, but I really don't think the owner is intentionally trying to scam anyone, bait and switch or disallow the use of the coupons. I think it is a hardship on her financially that she might not have been prepared for when choosing this type of incentive advertising. Unfortunately, that is the downside of splash ads...sometimes you are inundated with business and quality can suffer. There is also the language barrier, which makes it difficult to fully understand or mistakenly interpret her as being argumentative. This should be a moot point considering most every salon in Portland has Vietnamese staff. I think they communicate fairly effectively and if anything they don't give themselves enough credit for trying hard to speak with the customers in English. I have had the owner and many of her employees do my nails over the past 2 years and I am always treated well. Sometimes I have to wait, but they are usually apologetic for the delay and appreciative of my business. This is a very clean and peaceful place. The women who work here are helpful and pleasant and do a great job. The massage chairs are wonderful and they have a great selection of magazines and offer tea or water. I loved my results and highly recommend this place as a relaxing retreat! read more

I have been getting manis & pedis at Pearl Nails for about three years. I find the salon relaxing and clean with convenient hours--they are even open on Sundays. I am very satisfied with the services--I love the French manicures I get there--and the staff always goes out of their way to make me comfortable. I have friends I meet there for services--and we always have a good time. As a walk-in I rarely wait long, and my appointments are always honored and on-time. I was expecting the worst from all the reviews, and was pleasantly surprised. I have the living social deal, and I called last Tuesday for a weekend appointment. They gave me several options for that weekend. I made an appointment for Sunday. They took me on time, were friendly enough, and the pedi was pretty thorough. I dont know if they've been reading the reviews and upped their customer service or what, but it was a pleasant experience. There was another woman there at the same time as me who forgot her voucher, and they accomodated her, which I thought was pretty nice. Would I pay the full $60 for a mani and pedi at this place? No. It wasnt a $60 mani/pedi experience to me. But I enjoyed the living social deal and am glad I purchased it. read more

I have been going to Pearl Nails for several years, and have NEVER had a bad experience. In fact, they do the best manicures and pedicures of anyone I have gone to. I was surprised at the negative reviews, as they do not reflect my own experiences there. They are careful but efficient, are gentle with nails (do not over-buff them when removing gel polish), and as someone with some foot problems are always amazed at the care and responsiveness when doing a pedicure. I got my deal off of Living Social for deluxe pedi and mani. I bought one for me and one for my friend. Went today and LOVED it! Only had to wait a few moments while they finished up their last appointments. Got seated next to each other which is what we were hoping for since we went together; got offered water or tea right away and enjoyed the whole experience. The hot stone massage they did on our legs and arms was amazing and the lotions and oils were fantastic too. Our ladies did a wonderful job on our nails, we left super happy and satisfied, I will for sure be coming back. Their staff was professional and courteous. Great deal and people. read more

So I first came to Pearl Nails as a Living Social Coupon holder. I bought three coupons for myself, it was such a great deal. Tiffani and her staff have always treated me with respect for my time and they have done excellent work. I am now a loyal customer. This is a bit a awkward, but I think worth noting. I was sitting in the shop this mid-morning (11:00) and was privy to the conversation that Donna B. was having with Tiffani. First of all, I know things happen in life, but when you have a Living Social coupon, it says in the fine print that there is a 24 hour cancellation period. Also why couldn't Donna B. go to Living Social and print another coupon. I have done that with Groupon and had no problem. Small businesses almost always take a loss with these social media deals, so although it is unfortunate anyone has had any problems, I can't speak to the other issues, respect for people and their time go both ways. I read the other reviews and I used my LV deal on Friday. I called and made an appointment. When I arrived I was told to wait and did so for 15 minutes, then finally got set up in a chair to soak...and that went on for another 15 minutes..I realized it was a way for them to stall as they didnt staff well for the day or took in walk in when they had appointments. Basically, it a hit and miss place. If you need pedi/mani badly and want to take a chance and dont expect consistent service, then use them. Personally I wont be going back. The owner seems to favor customers who are regulars( as evidenced below by others). I finally said that I hadnt planned to be here much more than 75 minutes at which point she ( owner) said 2 people would work on me which ended up being the most non-relaxing experience as I had to hold my arm up and over while one girl did the mani( and she was horrible-- rough, grumpy and not at all attentive) while the other girl did the pedi( she was nice and pleasant). At the end the grumpy one had me move to dry my nails, grabs my shoes and purse and I kid you not, dumped them on the ground next to me vs helping you put on the sandals as you usually expect. The owner was on the phone constantly the whole time while doing nails for another customer, taking appointments. At one point she was making her own doctors appointment and we all knew as she put in on speaker while she talked with them. Sigh. I dont know about you but i like a relaxing experience when I go for a pedicure and there are many better ones close by. I will not be returning. It wasnt worth the LV coupon. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I have never experienced anything as terrible as this place. I walked in without an appointment and decided to get a pedicure while I waited for the 1 person that can apparently do acrylic fills. The pedicure was just okay....really more like a foot bath - hardly any massage and chairs did not recline. The worst part came when I sat down for the fill. Just like the last reviewer, it took her an hour to do a fill.....she was butchering my cuticles with the drill. Then....I got up to wash my hands and use the restroom at the same time since you have to go into the bathroom to wash your hands. Well - the toilet would not flush....finally she comes to the door and tells me the toilet is broken...well - a little late. I opened the door and she told me to lift the lid on the tank - stick my hand in the tank and manually flush it....AFTER I'd just had a fill. I was in TOTAL shock. I did it - but I think only because I was in a state of utter shock. I then sit back down to pay and the bill was $50. $25 for pedi - which is fine, but $25 for a fill??? so i too bought a living social deal for a mani/pedi here and was also quite hesitant to use it after reading the reviews here. but, with it expiring soon i decided to use it last friday-i called, asked if there was a spot for a mani/pedi that day and was told to come in at 4.30. i arrived, waited for 25 minutes, and yes, i agree with the other review that stated the nail polish all looked ancient and gloppy! i waited, then got seated, put my feet in the water, picked up a magazine and the woman started removing the old nail polish from my toes. she asked if i wanted to pay for the deluxe mani/pedi and i replied that i was getting the mani/pedi with my living social coupon. the owner heard that and got very upset with me-she said, angrily, "you didn't say coupon when you made appointment. we don't have time for you today. if you want to pay then you can stay, otherwise you need to come back another time!" I refused to pay for a service that i already had a coupon for! so they basically kicked me out of the chair because i wanted to use my living social deal! when they then scheduled an appt for later this week, they told me 9.30; but they don't open until ten am!!! why would they schedule an appt for a time when they arent even open!? so i called living social to inform them of how horrible this place treats its customers (who bought the deal) and will NEVER be going back there EVER. And I will tell EVERY single friend i have to NEVER go to Pearl Nails!!! read more
