Let me just say that peasants FEAST is one of my favorite restaurants of all my restaurants. Every time I'm in Solvang this is a must visit. The food is phenomenal in the sense that it's approachable comfort food that's been dialed up to 11. Lunchtime or dinner this is always a hit. I liked the salmon but perhaps I should have ordered a more substantial protein to top the salad. I felt the salad would be much better as a side salad. I am SO glad we waited out to dine here cause it was the BEST meal we had in Solvang. This is what a perfect brunch is like. Perfect ingredients and flavor. Very friendly service and very relaxing space. We sat outside near the flower pots and it happened to be sunny and warm. The KOBE FRENCH DIP with thinly shaved smoked Kobe beef was amazing, the beef was soft and has great texture, the au jus was delicious, the sandwich bread was crunchy and fluffy. Amazing burger! Each bun is buttered and topped with sesame. I've tasted the salmon burger and chicken burger. Both did not disappoint. It was neatly staked and every bite had each layer the burger had. The salmon burger was filled with soft-butter lettuces and melted in a tartare sauce. The chicken burger was not a patty. It was a full chicken thigh. It was fried perfectly right, as the meat was juicy and tender. The burger had an amazing spicy kick, so each bite was soft, crispy, spicy, and buttery. The restaurant sits at a corner, so they offer a great view on the streets. There's indoor and outdoor seatings. You can walk-in (but highly recommend making reservations for large groups). Our server was also excellent & the food came out fairly quickly, especially considering how busy the restaurant was. I had Thom's Veggie Stack with crispy potatoes, & it was delicious & very filling; I only ate half of the sandwich before I got full (lucky me to have leftovers). The bread itself was 10/10, with the inside toasted & the outside left soft. The veggies & spread on the sandwich were fresh & delicious. I also really loved the crispy potatoes, although the included solo could've used more flavor in my opinion. Servers checked on us and there was a wait but we didn't feel we were being rushed. We loved the house ranch dressing and asked the server what's in it our server was pretty well versed with the ingredients and when she wasn't sure she went inside to ask - I was impressed with this that they took the time and I can tell they really are proud of what they are serving. Lemonade and iced tea are not refillable and served in medium size glasses so fyi but not a deal breaker for the rest of our food was out of this world. Next time I visit I would probably get something light on the sad instead of the potatoes, mac and cheese and fennel soup we got as sides to our smash burger, hot chicken sandwich and short rib and grilled cheese sandwich which are all super yummy but with the sides got too heavy for us after a few bites. There was a little wait time, but it was expected in a little tourist town like Solvang. We were able to look around neighboring shops while waiting and the wait time wasn't too bad. Went during a beautiful day in December so outside seating was pleasant. I got the smash burger meal with potatoes and it was very filling. Near the end, the bread became overwhelming so I started eating the meat patty on its own which had decent flavor. The potatoes were nice and crispy. The sauce was not anything memorable. We arrived at 4:45 Sunday night. Note-This location closes at 6pm. We had about a 45 minute wait but were ABSOLUTELY seated even so close to closing. Our waitress did inform us that the kitchen had sold out of most of the specials. Again, that is A-ok. It's 30 minutes to close! I could not decide on soup or the burger..,but guess what, you can get the soup as your side. So I got to order both. As it turns out, the soup is one of the best things I've eaten in a while. True story, I woke up dreaming about it. Peasants feast however is not open on Monday or Tuesday. So, it'll just have to live in my memories. My SO got the hot chicken with polenta. He devoured it! Though, his lips were still feeling the heat for a while after. Service was fantastic. Our waitress was laughter and joy. And our hostess came in to see if our food was "worth the wait". Upon entering, we learned that they were not open on Mondays and Tuesdays because it is run by a husband and wife duo. Seating options included a cozy outdoor patio or a rustic interior. Our party ordered a items that included a Brussels Salad with Smoked Salmon and a Lil' mcFEAST Smash Burger. Our server cautioned that while the smash burger is made medium, it could be made rare but may not hold as well. When it arrived, I could see what they meant, but the patty was still incredibly tender and moist. All of our meals were tasty, and each item really felt homemade. The roasted potatoes were fairly salty, and the ranch was runnier than expected though still good with flavors of dairy and vinegar. There was also an orange sauce / puree that reminded me of cream of tomato, though it was good with the potatoes. The patty was meatloaf like and did fall apart a bit. Overall, the patty was not well seasoned and relied a lot on the aeoli-like sauce. Something really felt missing... maybe mushrooms! The bread was fairly plain , too, and quite thick. Overall, the Smash Burger felt fairly chaotic with a variety of ingredients and tastes that weren't too balanced and pockets of blandness. The Brussels Salad was tasty, and I enjoyed that it was not drenched in dressing. There were nuts and apples. The smoked salmon was also quite sweet and fairly generous slices. As someone who doesn't like smoked salmon, I was pleasantly impressed with linking this. Service was present, though getting refills wasn't too easy. There were times when attention felt lacking, but overall servers are available whenever needed. However, I really wished that their tone was nicer, since I felt "lectured" at times when I asked questions. We started off our meal with the Spanish Ham and Manchengo cheese platter ($23). This wasn't my favorite dish. The ham had little flavor and the cheese had a fridge taste. Grade: C For our mail meal, we had the uni pasta. This dish was amazing! Light citrus undertones in the pasta topped with fresh uni / sea urchin.
