A soy latte that doesn't taste like diabetes? What a novel idea! Peet's doesn't use any sweetened vanilla soymilk nonsense, so my latte actually tastes like a latte. The espresso is pretty good - not at all burnt, and goes down smooth even if my stomach isn't thrilled with me later (but seriously, only the best coffee digests without issue, and I don't expect that kind of quality at a chain for $3.60). The baristas are awesome and ridiculously pleasant, putting a smile on my pre-caffeinated face! I've started a morning ritual where I'll pick up an apple toastie from Babycakes, grab a soy latte from Peet's, and sit outside or by the window to people watch or get some work done. No one's ever made noise about me bringing in an outside pastry, which I really appreciate, since the latte/toastie combo is freakin' divine. My only caveat is the stupid spotty Wi-Fi! It was dropping me every few minutes, which was obnoxious when I was trying to research. All the same, Peet's is better than Starbucks, better than Coffee Bean, so I'll be back. read more

So you want a latte. You get to Larchmont Village and in pursuit of parking you notice an array of cafés, a Coffee Bean, Starbucks and Pete's Cafe! Whaddaya do? Assuming you're either short on time or too autonomous for a waitress, let's say we're down to the aforementioned commercial chains. Let's be real...this isn't Europe. You GO TO Pete's Cafe. Why? Because they have the exotic flavors (Mayan chocolate), quality coffee, friendly staff, non-claustrophobic seating, and Uber crowd that gives off that sense of entrepreneurship. Business card anyone? Somehow it's just equally Cozy & Productive here. So why 4 stars and not 5... Because sometimes I still cheat. If you want a decadent blended chai latte you still go to Coffee Bean, and if you're carrying around a gift-card I'm willing to bet it came from Starbucks. Use it. They have a splendiferous loyalty program. Then show Pete's Starbucks' awesome app and tell them to catch up. We'll wait ;) read more

Of all the chains, Peets has the best Lattes....i haven't been to this exact location but I've been to several others and they all have the same consistent taste...which is pretty darn good. Unlike CB&TL who uses processed powders to flavor their drinks. I love how they mix the drinks.. OTHER places pour in the espresso first, then the milk and give it a light stir. This method leaves most of the espresso sitting on the bottom of the cup. Its great if most caffeineistas like 2 different flavors in their drink. The first being too milky when they first begin drinking and they overbearingly sweet and bitter towards the end of the cup. However the baristas at Peets do things a little different...first they pour in the milk and syrup, next is the espresso and then they stir...mixing the components of your beverage equally. The espresso is so well incorporated in the drink that it doesn't fall to the bottom. This gives their patrons (us) same consistent goodness from the first sip to the last drip. read more

It's a definitely very...mainstream feel when you walk in. No different than those corporate puppies like Starbucks, Tully's, Seattle's Best, etc. But this particular location on Larchmont is very warm and welcoming. I've been frequenting Bricks and Scones, which I love, but I find the scene there a little...obnoxious. The workers here are so friendly and sweet, always managing to strike up a conversation instead of awkwardly standing there like an old lump while taking your order. The workers also seem to get along very well with each other, establishing a happy environment for customers to see the friendly and welcoming environment. I ordered the Vanilla latte, and it tasted perfect. I hate it when it tastes burnt icky. Gross. This wasn't the case here at Peet's. The actual building is decent sized. A little small since it's always full around mid-day to evening, but you can manage to find a seat here and there. I love coming here on a cool afternoon during the weekend and finishing up a research paper while sipping my vanilla latte! I'm Seattle-born and raised, so I'm all for Starbucks, but Peet's on Larchmont gets a big thumbs up from me!!! read more

Well it's definitely good enough that I would drive from my apt near Culver to go to the one in Larchmont Village. I'm truly not a coffee snob ($&#% YOU INTELLIGENTSIA!!!), but I do like good customer service and above average coffee. You really can't go wrong in this place. The wi-fi signal is weak here, but i really couldn't care less. I don't go anywhere with my laptop anyway, and I've never understood how so many people can get work done in a coffee shop. It's not like this place is "quiet" per say...I digress. Anyway, I say all that to say this...Peet's on Larchmont is the best place to get coffee in the area. I "nth". You can't go wrong with it. I was in need of a middle point to meet my language exchange partner from Venice. So Larchmont becomes a decent spot for the purpose of "East meets West". Location-wise, it's conveninent. It's easy to find parking either, even on a Sunday when there's the weekend market open on one of the lots. It's so relaxing to walk around the little shops and restaurants, watch the people, babies and dogs then sit down with my laptop and study a little. It's spacious; it's comfortable; it's clean; it's bright inside. It's a better spot to read / study than Starbucks absolutely cuz you get more light. I had the ice tea. It's just about right. Not too strong, not too weak. The only thing is they only have pastry but no sandwich or salad. Not good for hungry people. There's no outlet to plug your laptop either so you can't run it on battery and sit there forever. But it's not a big deal. It's still a great place to hang out. read more

My very second Peet's experience was just as delightful as the first one from two days ago. (see my review for the one in Huntington Beach). Yesterday I went to the Peet's in Larchmont and of course it's charming, open, inviting, and filled with 'come and get your caffeine-fix' whiff. The only thing different from the HB one: packed with bunch of foofoolala people sitting around doing nothing and more foofoolala people with foofoo dogs outside. I've always loved the Larchmont atmosphere so seeing Peet's here was like the foofoolala topping on a cupcake. This time I got an Iced Latte and tried the Jasmine Lime Iced Cooler which was just a bouquet of fresh air! Again, the lattes are bold, flavorful and impressive for chain coffee. And it works better than Starbucks, meaning I stay awake longer so they must add a little foofoo in there. The employees were very friendly and were not corny like Starbucks baristas. read more

Top notch service! I thought those working here were very friendly and loved how helpful they were. However, if you're planning on coming here to study, DON'T! I like how they have larger sitting area than Starbucks or any other coffee shops in Larchmont Village but it feels like a freezer in here! I came here to study and I got violently sick the next day. Ha! I love it when you can review a place WHILE you're actually there! Go FREE WiFi (with a purchase, of course)! Originally from L.A, but moved to the Bay 7 years ago, which is where I first discovered Peets. They're just about everywhere up there, which is a GOOD thing! The coffee and tea are equally as good, and much better than Starbucks or even some small cafes for that matter. I was hella excited when I finally saw the Peet's open up on Larchmont, which is about a mile from where I grew up (and where my momma still stays). Sorry Coffee Bean! Plus, the space and the setup is perfect for bringing your laptop or book and attempting to be productive. Which can be more challenging now that there's free WiFi here. This Peet's usually does the Larchmont trick. In fact, I'm pretty sure it beats the other two places that are exactly the same as Peets. Mostly because it has 1. a bathroom 2. free wifi and 3. coffee. And the employees don't question your use of any of the three. Sometimes I don't buy anything and just use the free wifi AND bathroom. The service is usually ridiculously slow, but one time an employee gave me a free french press coffee. Then I spilled it on my jean shorts. You have to get a wifi password from the cashier to go online. It certainly took me more than 8 minutes to figure that out. read more

On Larchmont you have your choice of Starbucks, Coffee Bean, or Peets. I've had plenty of all three, but I make Peets my home. Even though it is a chain, it doesnt feel like it. They offer many blends on a rotating basis and feature new coffee all the time. There espresso is the best here. It's stronger than the others, and that's how I like it. The regulars here are all friendly and don't make you feel like you poaching on their territory. This also seems to be the only coffee place where people come in and spend some time at, which I like. Actually best of the Peets in the LA area. Homey feel - mostly because of its location in Larchmont village. The baristas are friendly but yet quick & efficient. They know their beans too as I tend to ask them for recommendations. For morning coffee, be forewarned that sometimes the line snakes out the door. But don't fret, it'll move fast. read more

I seriously prefer peet's over Starbucks now that I've come here a few times. The baristas here are really willing to tell you the differences between their coffee blends and where they came from, etc. I also like the coffees a lot. Seriously this is where my long overdue coffee education is happening. The iced Baridi Blend is good (African and fruity taste) and the medium roast Cafe Domingo is also good. Still to try the other ones. Oh I've also discovered that I prefer acidic, darker blends like Costa Rica from taste testing it. But what's special about this particular cafe is the community of people that chose this place to congregate. I was invited to sit with them outside one morning (they're the guys who sit outside every morning with a dog each) and ended up talking about all sorts of things. They knew everyone passing by; even the UPS guy stopped and chatted for ten minutes. You really can't find that at most Starbucks. So in summary, the service and the product itself is already above expectations but the unique blend of regular local customers here make it a place you'd want to come back to regularly. read more

I have been coming to this Peet's for years and the service is always on point. Orders are made correctly and the very cordial staff remembers you. They can be a little slow at times especially if you don't go early but I attribute this to the crowd. I have noticed that a few Peet's have closed recently like the one in Bev Hills and the one on 3rd and Fairfax. I sure hope that the chain isn't in jeopardy and that this Peet's sticks around. Lots of competitors on this block but this Peet's does seem to maintain a steady stream of customers. I also see the same people sitting outside when I go on the weekends so hopefully this loyal patronage will ensure that this Peet's will be here for years to come. Peet's coffee is superior to Starbucks IMO and I would hate for them to disappear. read more

One of my favorite coffee joints! The only sad part is that they close at 9 :( WHYYYYY. I love how I can always find a spot to sit and study when I come here. There's also tons of outlets to charge your laptops. The only downside is the rush of people that come here and make a ruckus. Come on... go to a starbuck's and do that! Wow. I'll admit, I have shyed away from here just because it kind of looked a little corporate coffee-ee. Well, whatever it is, they serve up good coffee and awesome customer service. I'll warn you, not a lot of electical outlets here- when I asked about plugging in my laptop, the staff here went on a mission. When they were all taken, they offered an extension cord from the back bar. They said we could move tables. There happened to be an empty table near said back bar, but when the extension cord and my laptop didn't work, the staff climbed under the counter to see if they could make the cord stretch. It did. Viola. The barista on staff was great- double-checked with me if my in-house coffee size was okay, if I didn't like my milk choice, let her know and she would redo, the works. Apologized to ME because of the weird tipping- can't tip on a credit card. She apologized that they did not have a workable system on a credit card. I am impressed. I hope I see this staff again. Very customer oriented. Very rare to get this level of interest in most coffee places! read more

Come to this location almost everyday since I moved out here from the East Coast. The staff is the friendliest around, even starting recognizing me after a few days of coming in. In a short period of time they knew my drink before I even asked for it. Its nice to stop in to a place where people know your name and locals are friendly. Totally agree with Better Y.'s review of this place. Way too crowded with too many wi-fi campers, too many people trying to be scene (pun intended), and too loud to be relaxing at all. I generally expect Peet's locations to be places where you can relax with a drink and have good conversation without needing to raise your voice. You can't do either here. Outdoor seating in a quaint neighborhood makes this one better than other Peet's I have been to. There is a slight bustle on the sidewalk allowing for enjoyable people watching as you sip your beverage. The staff was friendly and efficient. People in Larchmont Village obviously have money, or think they have money, judging by the abundance of adorable dogs parading down the sidewalks with the polish of $3,000 obedience training as they trot next to their masters. Starbucks, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, all nice and I will get my cuppa coffee there... but Peet's has simply the best coffee. Now, maybe that's because the founder was Dutch.... his name was actually Peter. But that's besides the point, good coffee... and fairly fast service, they had a tasty Cheese Danish that I really enjoyed. The place may not be incredibly cozy, but their coffee makes up for it. I love Peet's. Especially THIS Peet's! I appreciate the people behind the counter. It is always impeccably clean and the place feels neighborly. The regulars are fantastic and there is always good conversation to be shared. Coffee-wise, the Major Dickason is the best of any of the chains' drip coffee. A great one to take home! Lately I have been exploring their teas and each one I have tried has had a distinctive and delicious flavor. My current favorite is the Scottish Breakfast. I like it in a pot (complete with strainer - this is loose tea. Oh, yes, they also have the internets, just remember to ask for a WiFi code. The Peet's in Larchmont is always the "go-to hang out spot" for my friends and I. Their outside seating are great during the summer; relaxing and just talking about nonsense in the summer nights! Went there last night with my friend and brother and their customer service is well above standard. My brother doesn't drink much coffee so he accidentally ordered a cold drink and they were nice enough to give him that on the house and give him whatever hot drink he wanted! Now that's what I call SERVICE! Their house drip is always great and has that intense nutty, rich coffee flavor. I have been to Peet's on numerous occasions especially for a taste of their cold brews. These offer a nice contrast to the warm weather outside. My favorite flavors are the coffee au lait and the dark chocolate, but the others are great as well. I love the cozy area that they have and it's always great whenever I stop by. It's almost like a home away from home sort of atmosphere. They big chains definitely have nothing on this place. The friendly faces and welcoming smiles are always a nice touch. Give it up for Sweet Peet! Peet's Coffee is by far the best coffee brewer of all the major chains. It lacks the uber-strong, hard-to-get-used-to burnt flavor of Starbucks, and beats Coffee Bean in pure taste, making for an enjoyable, smooth, satisfying blend of whatever drink you prefer. Considering that it's a chain, 3 and a half stars would be just about right. When it comes to coffee, I reserve 4 and 5 stars for the specialty, non-chain coffee shops that have sprouted up all over town. When you want a great cup of coffee or latte where convenience is more important than long lines, Peet's can't be beat! Here are a few of my favorites from Peet's: Mayan Mocha Latte - A smooth, creamy, chocolate latte with a kick of spice. Iced Caramel Latte - If you're like me, ask for only 1 pump of caramel. It's still a winner! Vanilla Latte - Trust me, all latte's taste better in a ceramic mug over a paper to go cup. Maple Latte - This one is seasonal and perfect for a cool Saturday morning in LA. As we all know, Larchmont Village is cute. To admit it, I've never been a fa of Peets. I had an experience when I was younger and promised never to drink Peets again. This was of course before I understood the power (and necessity) of coffee. My boyfriend LOVES coffee. And he always needs his fix. We came here one day before going out to the Huntington library (which is amazing, btw). I couldn't decide what to get. And sorry, but I can't quite recollect it's exact title. I believe it was a mocha frap with a pump of hazelnut and an extra shot. Cold and strong? you got it. I'm not coffee crazy, but I like to be able to taste the coffee. At least let me think I'm drinking more than flavor and ice. We didn't stay long, but this is a nice spot to take your time as that's just Larchmont Village for you. I guess I chose to write about this place since this was my first actually good and worthy Peet's experience. read more

Yummy Peet's! I'm sitting at a window seat right now, with my laptop getting juiced and enjoying my delicious Hazelnut Cappuccino in a mug. The service was great! I received several recommendations from the patient barista across the counter. Thank you Moises! This location is situated in an awesome strip of shops and restaurants on N Larchmont. I've even seen a recognizable actor come in too. (haha, bonus) Free Wifi that is reliable and 2-hour parking for $2 will keep me coming back for sure! My only con is that the bathroom was a little gross. If they were to keep it clean and perhaps add one couch or lounge chair to the sitting area, this would be a 5 star venue. read more
