Great food, great prices... the best breakfasts and Peggy's has Scrapple on the menu!!!!!

Unless you are a smoker, stay away! We were there for breakfast. The food was so-so, but even if it had been fantastic, I'd 8never go again. I should have turned and left the second after I walked in and could smell it a little. Before we left I had a headache. They must be smoking in the kitchen. It was disgusting. read more

This place does not appreciate having customers! We came in about a month ago and it took 1 hour for our food... went in today to try again. No one even acknowledged we were there. Other customers informed us to sit. We sat down and one of the waitresses threw her hands in the air as if we shouldn't be there. Then a waitress came up realized a different table hadn't been waited on yet and walked away. Berber asked anything, no drinks or anything. TERRIBLE. Been here twice. Came the second time hoping that the first was because they were having a bad day and no, bad as before. The place seems dirty and the employees are not friendly AT ALL. Both times waited at the door for ten minutes (not during a busy time) and was never greeted. Both times I saw tables open and asked if I could sit down and BOTH times the person I asked was rude and either said FINE or asked me to wait and another said "you can go sit down" like I was causing a problem. Then sat for a while without even being given a menu or drink. The food was not good and very bland. The second time I have no idea because I left after waiting 15 minutes without being attended to. omg...stay away. unless you're a glutton for punishment. after driving all day from savannah, we asked the gal at our hotel's front desk for a 'decent' place to eat. she HIGHLY recommended peggy's. the menu looked pretty good, and i was hopeful. hubby had the hillybilly burger with chili and fries. i tasted the chili and it was terrible. canned chili would have been an improvement - i didn't let him know until after we left, didn't want to make him feel worse about his meal, which he thought stunk. the chili was bad. the beef patty was dry and tasteless. the fries stunk. as for me, the beef patty on my patty melt was also dry and tasteless and oh so greasy. i asked for fruit instead of fries, and got the curly fries anyway, which i was unable to eat. and then i got a kid's fruit cocktail cup. which i could not eat - per my diet restrictions. the sauteed onions included onion skins at the end of the meal, i was ready to cry - it was all too disgusting. back at the hotel i checked the guest binder and found several alternatives we 'could' have tried...live and learn. read more

Food was bland but waitress was good. About 12 hours after eating had it coming out both ends. Wont be back.

Went for New Years special. They ran out of cornbread and black eye peas. My mother-n-law was given a moldy bread roll and was given expired peppers they expired on 2-2-2012 it's 1-1-2015. Waitress was attentive, but seemed to have a bad attitude. Pork loin was way over cooked. It was very hard to even cut through. Would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Home cooking at a restaurant. A great place to take the relatives when they are here from out of town. A local icon and we locals know why. Their breakfasts are the best but try their other meals as well. Fast service, very reasonable prices, friendly staff, etc it's a total package. read more

Great food, awesome prices. The waitress with the blonde hair needs an attitude adjustment but the younger one with the brown hair waited on us and she was great. They changed the tv to let us watch the game! :-) read more

Great sweet tea, good turkey club, but together they shouldn't come to $12. Place is decent looking but needs a little cosmetic help inside. Breakfast prices look a little better. Not floored but Im not opposed to returning. read more

Love Peggy's, I hAve never had a bad meal here. The staff is great love them all! We always bring people who visit us here! Love the sausage gravy it's almost as good as mine but I do not order it at any other restaurant in town except from Miss Peggy! read more

Haven't been there in years. But recently tried it again, it was a pretty nice experience. My party ordered things ranging from breakfast to fried fish. The portions were quite large. I throughly enjoyed the fish (fried cod) French fries with a trip to the salad bar. Salad bar was just the basics but very good. The service was a little slow but overall a good experience. How good your experience is here depends entirely on the mood the waitress is in that day. We've had the same waitress twice. Once, she was great. Friendly, happy, eager to serve. The second time, she treated us like we were the worst thing to happen to her all week... just because we were there. Rudest customer service I'd ever seen. Luckily, she ignored us after giving us menus, so we had plenty of time to leave without even ordering. I enjoyed this place once, but it's not worth going there hoping the waitress is in a good mood that day. read more

Nice, quiet home cooking-type place. I had breakfast (eggs, home fries, bacon and toast). All were good - eggs scrambled well and the home fries were quite good. Simply seasoned with no extras. My husband had cajun fish bites and fries and loved the fish (fries got a rating of "meh." Not sure if that would be a two or a three). They were big chunks of white fish - real fish, not flaked scraps squished together into what some places call a nugget. I had an apple dumpling for dessert and it was delicious - no fake, apple flavored, gelatinous goo. They charged extra for ice cream on it, though - if I had known that I would have skipped it. Husband had peanut butter pie and liked it a lot. We will be back for sure! Oh, and don't forget to ask about Peggy's Famous Bullet Hole. read more

Great food, but service needs a whole lot of improvement. Tables should be bussed and cleaned asap after customer leaves. Love this joint, and eat here all the time. It's just a good country eatin place by the highway, with a modest menu. Live alone, so even ate Thanksgiving here, and it was excellent! It was really difficult to get past the servers attitude (a course in listening and an attitude adjustment were sorely needed)! Generally clean, real butter, fake cream all of which get us to two stars. My eggs we overcooked, husband's were cold, grits were so dry they appeared to have been on the stove top for hours, biscuits were burnt on the bottom and the bacon was greasy. Peggy's was recommended by family members who eat there every time they're in NSB, and we're so glad we went! My liver and onions was absolutely delicious and the mashed potatoes, with pieces of skin in them, were also excellent. The small salad that came with it was made with Romaine lettuce which was fresh and crispy. Ken's dressings are used and my Ranch was super. My husband's spaghetti and meatballs totally filled the bill for him, too. He is a spaghetti lover and proclaimed his a decided success. He said that next time he would request that mozzarella cheese not be added to it, however, as it made it more like a "baked" casserole and he prefers everything without cheese. Never, ever again will go to this business! Food was terrible. Place was not clean, or appealing to the eye. They definietly need some help!

If I could give it zero stars I would. I have been going there for 18 yrs. and it has finally hit rock bottom. One waitress on a Friday, cold tasteless food, and nobody came back to our table. When the daytime crew is there that would be the best time to go. First time that there was no tip left maybe if she (owner's granddaughter) was waiting on the table instead of sitting at one the service would have been better. read more
