Pretty good chicken To me, definitely tasted more like Peruvian than Chinese. Very classic, juicy and flavorful rotisserie-style chicken. I wouldn't say chicken is phenomenal though; it's very much on par with other peruvian and spanish chicken spots in Queens and on LI. Rice and beans were great. The chicken was very flavorful better then many other Peruvian places. The rice like any fried rice from a good Chinese restaurant. The meal was a bit pricy if ordered separately, we ordered for few people but the specials are definitely worth it. Wow, amazing!! I'm Chinese-American and love Peruvian food, so this is my food dream come true!! The tenderness and flavor of the chicken is incredible. So juicy and falls right off the bone. They also give very generous portions on rice. The pork fried rice is the best of both worlds with chorizo instead of Chinese sausage, and is a lot less oily than most Chinese takeout places because of the Peruvian influence. The green sauce is so good. I would say this place is more Peruvian with a Chinese twist that is skillfully worked in. Overall, a perfect marriage of both cultures. Just back from my first meal there. Yup, the chicken is great with the flavor penetrating right through the meat, not just in the (delicious) skin. Pork fried rice was tasty too. Ribs were ok. A bit dried out in places and lacking a distinctive flavoring. Next time, it's 1/2 of a chicken for me! Very nice staff, too. It has been a favorite place ever since I have discovered this place. It doesn't make any sense upon knowing today that I have never reviewed the place and I was here not long time ago. I might been so busy enjoying each bite. Less one star for perfection as today, a day before the holiday , the waiting time was a half hour experience. They ran out of cooked rotisserie chicken which is the heart and soul of the business. The good side of it, they don't want to serve any unwanted uncooked piece of its meat. As usual, their chicken never disappointed me. It's tenderness, soulful taste and crunchy skin still excites me especially when their famous salsa verde ( green sauce) was all over it. It's perfectly matched with their roast pork fried rice. What a surprise for tonight was their Peruvian special dish "pollo saltada"( which means sautéed chicken) that I have ordered. Now I understand why it was combined with white rice, to fully enjoy the flavor of the chicken meat . It was so delicious. It comes with fries, onions and tomatoes that added more to the dining pleasure . The dining area is small, not sophisticated but who needs a big fancy space if these delicious foods are what you are after for. This place is not known to people outside of Queens, it's not fancy but it's built like a well oiled machine and it's always consistently awesome. The decor is not much to look at, it's either you eat in really really fast and leave or you get food to go. If I am not mistaken, they are affiliated with Caravan Chicken in Astoria. The green sauce, oh the green sauce. They should have taken que from Frank's Red hot and put that shit on everything. The green sauce is awesome, you actually can put that shit on everything and it will make it better. The food: Spare Ribs & 1/4 Chicken with roast pork fried rice and salad- These are the two items the restaurant is famous for, the chicken and their ribs. I think their chicken is fantastico, super juicy and so much flavor, then you can add some green sauce?? Lord have mercy! The ribs are a good size rib and they are fall off the bone with a tiny bit of give, the ribs have a touch of sweetness from the caramelization of sugars on the outside. I said no, tell me more about this place and he said, it's the best chicken ever, I said I don't believe this crap as I took a bite of my PioPio chicken, he said well then try it, you got nothing to lose. Little did I know my life was about to change. Peking BBQ is located in the corner of the tri-intersection of Woodside ave, Roosevelt Ave and 59th street is a Chinese Peruvian restaurant. Even though the restaurant mainly serves Peruvian style food but you can tell a lot of food here have some kind of Chinese influences behind it. Parking: I'm not quite sure if this is an area you want to walk alone by yourself at night, I assume no but with that said, there are plenty of parking in the area, I happened to find a spot on 59th street every time I come. Decor and Ambiance: From the outside, the restaurant looked like it's straight from Rumble in the Bronx (I love Jackie Chan). The awning was stained, the door was metal, heavy and had bars on it- definitely not a place you would consider walking into. But if you follow your nose Toucan Sam, you'll find yourself in a restaurant that's reasonably clean (except the bathroom) with a decent restaurant layout. The restaurant has around 15-20 tables each seats 4, not much decor here, just 4 side of walls. Wait before you order, make sure you know this place is CASH ONLY!! or else you'll end up like me, running to Chase bank across the street (or is it Citibank?) On a side note: This place gets PACKED at night (especially weekend) so come at your own discretion!! Let's do this right and don't come here when you are on a diet: Just order the #7: Chicken and Ribs combo w/ Pork Fried Rice, and consider the mission completed! and btw it's cafeteria style so you order your food, get your ticket number and pick it up when they call you. The Chicken and Rib combo: Before we dive into this, let's get the background info outta the way. When ordering this, you will be given an option to choose either dark or white meat on your chicken so don't panic, choose wisely and prepare to be stuffed. The chicken and Rib combo comes in a plastic styrofoam container, weights like at least 2-3lb and smells like heaven before you even open the box. It's lots of food, it will last you for two meals! The chicken is SUPER flavorful so don't even go near that salt shaker, super juicy, tender and melts in your mouth (can only say that for my dark piece) but my friend had the 1/4 white and he said it was super super tender as well. It was cooked perfectly, with slight charred yet crispy and in the most beautiful dark brown color. I love how it's served on top of pork fried rice cause when you cut into this beauty, all the chicken essences drips right into the rice. MONEY!!! BUT WAIT.... Actually I don't know what's the best way to break this so I'm gonna give it to you straight- THAT SPARERIBS THO!!!! OMG it tasted like it's straight from a Chinese restaurant except a 100 times better? no doubt it has some sort of Chinese marinate, perhaps a little bit of soy sauce? Man, the texture, it falls off right off the bones but you still can taste every texture on it :chewy, crispy on the outside yet tender, juicy on the inside. The fat to meat ratio was just right so you don't feel like you are just chewing on fat or vice versa. It's a bit on the charred side (I wouldn't eat it everyday cause I don't wanna get cancer yet) but totally enhances the flavor of the meat. Deep flavors, well balanced sweetness and saltiness. I hate to say it but if I have to choose between this or the chicken, this is where I cast my ballot. MUST GET or REGRET FOREVER!!!!!!! I'm going to skip the green sauce cause I had better but you probably don't need it since all the meats were so flavorful Price: $11.63 for 3 huge spareribs and 1/4 chicken and Pork Fried Rice and salad- WORTH Overall: Got to love a hole in the wall joint that serves some quality food yet don't make my stomach sick. Despite what the menu might say this is absolutely a Peruvian spot. Never been to a Peruvian restaurant before? They're almost always a fusion of Chinese and Latin dishes (as that's very common in Peru). There's really no other cuisine where you can get egg drop soup and fried plantains. Peking is a hole in the wall kind of place that seems more popular for take out/delivery than eating in. They actually charge a little bit more for their chicken to eat-in. Most meals here are $7-9. I got 1/2 a rotisserie chicken (their specialty) for about $5.50 and a side of maduro (fried plantains) for about $3. I think the plantains were too oily and soft but some people like them super mushy and oily like that. The chicken was one of the best I've ever had, it definitely rivals Inca in Bushwick. It was as good as chicken can get, super moist, soft, with super flavorful and slightly charred skin. Nothing was oily or dry, it was a great piece of chicken. It comes with a creamy and spicy green dipping sauce which is a real extra punch of Latin flavor. If you like chicken you need to check out Peking, it's worth the trip. read more

Weird, oily fried rice and flavorless ribs, but amazing, juicy chicken. Just make sure you get the half piece. The quarter piece we got was kind of dry. The green sauce is also really tasty. Could use a bit more spiciness, but adds good flavor to the dry parts of the ribs and the bland fried rice and ribs. This place is a hole in the wall, but lines are long. It's kind of weird that they charge you extra just for the act of choosing dark meat vs. white and not the actual piece you choose. When i got home, that's exactly what it looked like too; oily and burnt crispy skin. But unlike duck, the meat was dry as hell.... And who the hell is in charge of chopping up the chickens? My chicken had shattered bones and it was a real pain to eat. Either they need to sharpen up their cleavers or fire Stevie Wonder from the kitchen.... 3) green sauce: it was OK, but I've had very similar sauces before. By no means is it addictive or tasty though. It was quite ordinary... 4) beans: bland... 5) rice: it was white and boring.... Summary: I'm not that picky of an eater as I was raised by humble means. I stumbled upon this place before Google maps existed, before yelp existed, and before I had a car to drive. Walking home from voluteer work, I needed to pick up dinner for my grandmother and myself. I came in here and ordered some chicken and rice and bright it home. Little did I know how juicy and flavorful the chicken was going to be. Meat falls off the bone, succulent and the green sauce to fuse the entire meal together is pure crackalicious. My grandmother finished every bite and cleaned off the bones. I had to go back, but silly me..I couldnt remember where I stopped to get this. I was not aware of my surroundings in my young teen years. But luckily we live in a time where Google search, google maps and yelp in combination can help you find anything these days and exactly what you're looking for. Oh how im glad I finally found you Peking Bbq. The Asian guy at the counter speaks fluent spanish by the way. Everyone is extremely friendly and the portions are very generous. The definition of can't judge a book by its cover. From the outside it looked like any other run of the mill take out Chinese restaurant but so glad I found this place on yelp. I had Peruvian rotisserie chicken before and few times they were bit drier than I wanted, but not this place though. I got the #1 on the menu with 1/2 chicken on top of fried rice. Chicken were very juicy and the skin crispy and not over cooked at all. They give you so much fried rice that it took me probably 3 meals to finish it all. For the price under $10 its definitely very affordable. Bonus to their green chili sauce makes both the chicken and fried rice taste so much more flavorful. I'm definitely a fan of this place and making me appreciate all the diverse food out in Queens. Btw this would be a good place to brush up on your high school Spanish haha they were calling out order numbers in Spanish that I was a bit unprepared for at first. The Far East moved some Peruvian Chicken to Woodside! The Chinese owner's command of Spanish language is impeccable but the quality of the food didn't meet my expectations. I remember coming here in the late 90s and the chicken took me for a ride on an enlightening flavor train. My momentous memory of this chicken joint was shattered to pieces with a couple bites of the browned bird. When I picked up the chicken the other night it was grossly under-seasoned and was surprisingly dry, considering it was a rotisserie chicken. The dingy place did look like it was renovated and the line was out the door at 8pm on a Sunday. They charge an extra 35 cents for extra green sauce, which is a vinegar based sauce that is kind of like the one they give you at Mama's Empanadas. However, the sauce seriously lacked any hint of heat. Bland Bird and a hot sauce with no heat? I really want to give this place two stars but the Chinese owner's impeccable command of the Spanish language and fast service was quite impressive. Would I travel to get some Peking BBQ? most probably not. If there was a chicken 'Throwdown' I'd think Chicken Lovers in Bayside would take Peking BBQ down without a doubt. read more

The layout of Peking inside and out might not be the most inviting but don't be fooled, their food is top notch, always fresh and leaves you wanting to go back for more. Employees do a great job of getting orders out and prepared quickly and swiftly, granted there is a bit of a wait unless your there on an early morning or close to closing time but the wait is definitely worth the quality of food and price .
